She peered at the patients, offering a small smile and a wink to those who were awake before finally making her way to his desk.

The med-bay seemed to quiet. An observation she'd keep tightly behind her lips, better not tempt fate by asking for it to throw a challenge her way. ❛      What would you say to an officer who said that?    ❜

It's nearing the end of his shift when he finally gets a chance to sit down at his station, sighing a little at the sign of the paperwork mounted there. Routine physicals are a nightmare in themselves (he'd spent an hour this morning just chasing Jim down and dragging him back to med bay) and making sure all the files are updated is a tedium he could do without. Still, it has to be done, whether he likes it or not, and he allows himself a quick glance at the framed picture of a smiling Joanna before he dives in.

The sound of the med bay door stirs him from his work, signifying shift change, and McCoy raises his head, nodding his head in acknowledgement and pushing a hand through his hair.
