Carmen Hernandez picked up their key from the front desk three months ago. The twenty six year old uses she/her pronouns and is a Stewardess on the Catalina from Los Angelas, California. According to their apartment application, people have told them they look a lot like Cierra Ramirez, and the character they identify with most is Maeve Wiley from Sex Education. CHARACTER SUMMARY:
What was your character’s relationship like with their family growing up? Any siblings? Were they raised by their biological parents? Another family member? Were they adopted? How did this make them feel?
Carmen's birth marked the intersection of two young lives that had just begun. Her parents were high school sweethearts, still in the fledgling stages of adulthood when they learned they would become parents. This revelation brought with it a wave of uncertainty and responsibility that neither was prepared for.
Carmen's arrival presented her parents with the challenge of balancing the demands of parenthood with the aspirations they had for their own futures. It was a daunting task for a couple who were just emerging from their teenage years.
When Carmen was only a child, her mother made the decision to step away from the responsibilities of motherhood, leaving Carmen in the care of her father. It was a heart-wrenching choice, one that weighed heavily on her mother, but she believed it was the best decision for Carmen's well-being at the time.
Carmen's father, though unprepared, decided to take on the role of single parenthood. He entrusted Carmen's care to her grandparents, believing that it would be a temporary arrangement, allowing him to navigate the difficult transition into parenthood.Β 
Carmen's stay with her grandparents was intended to be temporary, a way to give her father the time he needed to adjust to the demands of raising a child. Her grandparents, who had already traveled and lived a life of adventure, offered a stable and loving environment for Carmen.

Carmen's upbringing was deeply influenced by her grandparents, who were her primary caregivers. They regaled her with tales of their youthful travels, filling her childhood with captivating stories of far off destinations and adventures. Carmen's personality was defined by their influence – she was an outgoing, fearless, and adventurous soul, always eager to embrace new experiences and explore the unknown.
As the years went by, Carmen's beloved grandparents began to show signs of aging and declining health. Losing the two people in life that gave her stability and everything that they possibly could hit her hard. They were more than just caretakers; they were her storytellers, mentors, and guiding stars. Their influence was profound, as they shared the enchanting tales of their youthful travels. These captivating stories filled Carmen's early years with a sense of wonder and wanderlust.
Carmen's grandparents regaled her with stories of far-off destinations and extraordinary adventures. These tales were like magic carpets that transported her to places she'd never seen, filled with fascinating cultures, picturesque landscapes, and daring escapades. The stories ignited her imagination and sowed the seeds of curiosity within her.
Losing these pillars of her life hit Carmen hard, leaving her with a sense of emptiness and grief. Their absence left a void that was difficult to fill. She longed to follow in their adventurous footsteps, visiting far-off destinations, immersing herself in different cultures, and collecting her own stories along the way.
While she has made significant progress toward her dream, there is still much to discover, experience, and learn. Carmen's dream is ongoing. The pursuit of her dream brings her a deep sense of purpose and meaning following such great losses.
What brought them to ValparaΓ­so? Were they running away from something? Found a good opportunity they couldn’t pass up? Are they reluctant to be here? What do they hope to get out of there time here?
Setting out on her adventure, with the summer sun as her companion, only to find herself drawn to ValparaΓ­so's enchanting shores. In ValparaΓ­so, the enchantment of her grandparents' stories met reality. The city's vibrant energy, its colorful streets, and the embrace of the sea enveloped her. And she, in turn, embraced it with all her heart. Her journey, guided by memories of her grandparents, led her to the jewel of the pacific, where she felt more at home than ever before.
There was, however, a twist in her story – a long-distance love waiting back home for her. Though her heart ached with the affection they shared, Carmen found herself unable to leave ValparaΓ­so behind. With no definite time of return he couldn’t bring himself to wait around for her to return home.
CONNECTIONS:
Short-Lived Romances: passionate and whirlwind romances that followed her long-term relationship. These passionate flings, marked by their dizzying fun and intensity, provided Carmen with a chance to break free from her past and embrace the thrill of the moment.
Reunions and Reconnections: These are the people with whom she shared days of exploration and spontaneous road trips, and nights filled with excitement and dancing until the sun came up. Whether passing through the coastal city or having chosen it as their new home, these reunions bring a sense of nostalgia and familiarity. Carmen and her fellow travellers can reminisce about their shared adventures.
The Catelina: give her all the work besties. The people that she gossips and vents to while they shine the champagne glasses or set the table for dinner service. When they are between guests they hang out on deck once all their duties are taken care of whether they are diving in for a swim or soaking up some sun. give her some people she might bother as well. Because what do you mean the captain won’t let her steer the boat for a little? Rude. hanging around in the kitchen between courses to talk the ear off the kitchen staff.Β 
Nighttime Explorers: some friends that she can explore the city’s vibrant nightlife with. dancing the night away and discovering the local bars. Their nights after often spontaneous, whether it’s a text with the location of Catch me if you can for that night or showing up at the other’s door to drag them out to see what the night has in store for them.
Roommate: she has only been here for three months, she wasn't meant to stick around for this long so they might be wondering what the hell she is still doing here. whether they have been living in the city longer than her or even a native who has been showing her around. also think it would be kind of fun if they are a newcomer either and they have been discovering what the city has to offer with each other. but as long as you are alright with the stray dog she brough home with her that's all that matters
The Ex: this would just make me laugh more than anything. maybe he followed her out here or somehow managed to show up in the same city. she went travelling though and was meant to return home but she didn't and even though they broke up i'm sure he still wants some answers.
Found Family: a group of friends for her please! the people that made her want to stay in valparaΓ­so that little bit longer. these are her people and she doesn't know how she went her whole life without them.
