prompt: PATTERN // 1029 words , G , yumejoshi
Keito Hasumi was a man of routine. Rarely did he diverge from his plans. When he does, he finds that often, the reason for this divergence is usually because of another person. All his life, he's relied on other people to pull him through life's many obstacles. All his life, Keito found himself only being there for the ride.
And it seems like that wasn't about to change any time soon.
Arise. Work. Sleep. Rinse. Repeat.
That was the routine that Keito Hasumi had gotten himself used to. A routine that was followed no matter the circumstance — a continuous pattern that repeated time and time again.
He told Eichi already — Akatsuki had no need for a producer. They were doing just fine by themselves. Keito knew he was a good leader and an ever better manager! If he was able to oversee Akatsuki's (and in the past, Deadmanz's) activities even when Anzu wasn't around, then he could keep doing so without any help!
But as always, Eichi didn't listen. And the next day, he finds himself face to face with a stranger. A third year in Yumenosaki, it seems, judging from the very messy third year tie. He just knows Eichi handpicked this specific producer to annoy the hell out of him.
"Your tie," Are his first words to their new would be producer. "Did you come all the way here with such a lousy appearance?"
Call him cold, call him blunt, but Keito was not very fond of chaos and disorder. If this new producer knew what was best for them, they'd leave to find another unit to produce.
The girl seems unfazed, though. A strange reaction. In fact she smiles, sheepish. As if this was just a common blunder to her. Usually the people he'd reprimand would apologize nervously. But clearly not this girl.
"Ah, well, Tenshouin-san kinda gave me this assignment without so much as a notice in advance, so…" She responds, looking up at Keito with that same smile. She holds out a hand, teal eyes showing nothing but excitement… which was certainly very new to Keito. Usually he was met with either fear, surprise, or annoyance.
Blink.
"I'm Ryuuji Tatsuhisa! Third year in the Producer course, and still a producer in training! I haven't been officially assigned to a unit yet, so Tenshouin-san said I should try out being in Rhythm Link! And it looks like Akatsuki is the first unit I'm going to try out!"
Keito feels a headache coming on.
The producer Eichi sent… wasn't even officially assigned to Akatsuki. Or any unit for that matter.
Essentially, this was only a part of her training. And it was now Keito's job to train her.
Remind him to talk to Eichi sometime later.
"Tatsuhisa…" Keito begins, rubbing his temples. "Could your voice get any louder?"
Blink.
As expected, Ryuuji only offers him another smile.
"Oooh. So you're Hasumi-san," She nods in understanding, a knowing grin now plastered on her face as she circles Keito like a curious puppy. "When Tenshouin-san said you were 'an uptight meanie', I didn't think he meant it literally."
Keito opens his mouth to protest. "Why, I —"
"You're that and more! Maybe Tenshouin-san assigned me here to help you be a little nicer. You know, if you were that hostile, you'd scare away all potential producers! What if you get a new producer who isn't as strong-willed as I am? Akatsuki would be sad and producer-less!"
And she just keeps going. There really is an ongoing pattern with the people that Keito attracts by mere luck, huh…
They all talk an awful lot.
He groans, Ryuuji's words fading into the background as his second ever headache pounds at his head. Who was this girl to put a damper on his perfect plan for the day? Such unpredictability was unacceptable! He still had other plans scheduled for today, and now her endless yapping has caused him to delay everything else.
Well, nothing better to do than give up. Just like he always does when around such fiery souls.
"Tatsuhisa." Keito begins again. He faces Ryuuji this time, one hand on her shoulder (An attempt to get her to shut her mouth). This finally, finally makes her stop on her seemingly endless speech, staring back up at Keito with her mouth agape, as if in the middle of making yet another point.
"I can't refuse an order from the very top. (The very top being Eichi.) So I'll give you this one chance to prove yourself." He states, face steely and cold as always.
And yet, Ryuuji was unfazed.
In fact, she nods, more determined and excited than ever. The exact opposite of what Keito expected from her. No matter how blunt or scary or serious he could be, it seems that this girl, whoever she was, never found him scary. In fact, it looked like she only found him mildly amusing. Talk about annoying…!
What was it with these people and constantly evading Keito's expectations?!
Ryuuji raises a hand, nodding happily! "I won't let you and Tenshouin-san down, Hasumi-san!" She beams, her excitement soon cut short by her phone ringing, followed by a surprised gasp from Ryuuji as she stumbles off! She stops, as if just now remembering that she was talking to someone before seeing the presumably important text message, turns around, and waves to Keito.
"I'm late for a meeting, but, um. I'll find you later again, okay, Hasumi-san!"
And now Keito was left alone once more. Silence. Finally.
(I'm counting on that…) Keito thinks to himself, watching as Ryuuji leaves. (Clumsily, might he add. How could one girl trip so many times while trying to make her way to a conference room only a few feet away? Her stupidity continues to astound him. Perhaps in a positive way? There was a part of it that was … strangely endearing. And Keito was unsure of how he feels about it.)
"... Wha-" Keito, taken aback, stares at a fallen stack of papers on the floor. That girl, seriously…
"Tatsuhisa! Your paperwork!"
Once again, Keito Hasumi's usual routine has been broken. Yet strangely, he wouldn't have it any other way.
