you stare at the note you found in your locker. it's written in glittery purple ink, which only adds to the insult.

gojo, "cute"??? give him a kiss on the cheek???

like an ill omen summoned by its name, a terrible presence looms over your shoulder, "watcha got there?"

"hate mail." you say dispassionately as you quickly shove gojo away.

when you face him, you see gojo's face change - smooth features and rounded eyes hardening into anger.

"hate mail?" gojo frowns, "in your locker? who would send that?!"

"you want a list?" comes geto's snarky voice. "she's kind of a bitch."

you shoot him a glare, but gojo speaks before you can.

"don't talk about her like that."

the room feels a little bit colder. since when did gojo sound so... mean?

"i'm just saying," geto says, shrugging, "you'd know better than anyone, she's always on your ass."

"yeah, my ass," gojo turns to you, a pout on his face, "you're not bullying other people, are you? i don't have any other bullies."

only satoru gojo could get into an argument this stupid.

"no," you drone, "your drain on my time and attention is uncontested."

rather than being ashamed of this, gojo looks absolutely tickled.

even when you punch him in the shoulder, his good mood is undampened.

"nerd," you grouse, stalking off to your next class, which gojo naturally follows.

it sucked being in the same classes as him, but at least it meant you could get his help. he really is a huge nerd. all those hours you put into it, and he seems to understand everything effortlessly.

the class feels like it takes hours. you pay diligent attention, take so many notes, and somehow, gojo comes out of it completely chipper.

you're left in peace for a few blessed minutes afterwards as he bolts out of the room for some reason or another.

is he finally starting to fear you as his bully? took him long enough -

"here!" pressed into your hands, your favorite snack from the campus vending machine.

gojo smiles at you, that big, boyish smile that makes him look extra stupid. "sorry i messed up last time."

you don't know what comes over you. maybe it's pure delirium brought on by hunger. or the joy from having something nice to eat.

maybe it's a new form of torture, humiliating him by making him endure a kiss from his bully.

it's just a kiss on the cheek. it's whatever.

he stands there, still, face completely red, blue eyes wide in shock. gojo looks even dumber than usual, which shouldn't even be possible.

you fan your face for a moment as you turn to leave.

"come on, you idiot. we've got a test to study for."

gojo whistles some unbelievably stupid tune, practically skipping the whole way to the library.

"i can't believe it! she kissed me on the cheek!!! a real kiss!" "uh-huh." "don't uh-huh me, suguru, it was REAL! anyways, it all makes sense now. she was just hangry. no wonder she shoved me into a locker. it's my fault for not taking better care of her..." "would you listen to me if i reminded you that you're not dating and this is all pure delusion?" "not dating yet." "so a no, then," suguru says, rolling his eyes as he returns to his work. satoru's already finished with the homework and scrolling through his text message history with you, no doubt spamming you again with memes or pictures or just remarks. but you haven't blocked him yet, have you? suguru smiles to himself, closing his notebook, tucking away a shimmering violet pen.

Wasn't it a novel concept for any Trailblazer? Mirth danced within the delinquent's eyes, even as a few idle spirits flew overhead, and the remnants of a few rogue automatons found themselves rendered to scrape metal. "Y'know that a whole day of lazing can't beat the rest quality of a day of not being a couch potato. Ya might've been cryin about being bored." Not really, but the insinuation makes a touch of smugness hit his face.

We gotta make it so you outdo your masters one day." It was part of a dream that led to her turning a week of work into what many of the Xianzhou adept would consider years in terms of experience. Despite many holding clear (and somewhat understandable) concern. The totality of their many journeys together had Caelus nothing but resolute in his trust to her efforts.

Emma was no stranger to the obsessive fan or occasional stalker, but judging by the woman's tone, this was a more disconcerting situation than that. The idol didn't look back; something so sudden would only exacerbate the problem. Instead, her momentary look of panic at the other's words was replaced by a practiced smile. When it boiled down to it, Emma was a pretty decent actress.

"Oh my gosh!" She exclaimed in an airy, almost oblivious-sounding tone. She wondered if acting one way or another would dissuade whoever was following her. "It's been so long! I'm sorry I haven't had the chance to see you, I've been sooo busy with work!"

♒ Thoughts on the fandom you’re currently rping in?

For ease of access, I'll generalize this to just Hoyoverse in general.

My time here for the most part has been peaceful. Engaging games, finding fans who actually enjoy lore based perspectives, not to mention how character love is better emphasized as people really do rally to express as such. I'd rank it higher compared to past experiences I've had.

Not to say there isn't its line of trials either. When we bring fandom into the equation, we know full damn well how composes itself.

The passion that's carried for their series become this fandom's double edged sword. Where you have high creativity, there's also this high obsession that grows thorny too. People willing to wage their online wars for characters they love, concepts they've sold themselves on, beliefs for fictional mediums where this has to be law or the heretic in question has to be damned from the dominion.

It gets pretty bad.

Primarily in how it tilts well beyond the parasocial wall. Where commitment to these characters and the unhealthy levels of attachment leads to horrific levels of recklessness. People in the business, outside of it, other fans especially just get lit up to high hell. Part of me wants to lean that into being more about today's online culture as a whole. Not to mention with Hoyoverse's marketing scheme that promotes this kind of behavior from the higher ups, and people who are out there for their 'feel good' become volatile elements in kind.

Another issue that's moreso just my personal grievance is the particular obsession I've seen with expys in this fandom. As someone who enjoys stories flourishing on their own merits, it just gets disheartening that I'm inevitably being headlocked to HI3 for example, where this has to be the content I absorb or recognize or I won't 'get it'. It's been my factor for a minute that made me wary in expanding from Genshin in the past, but I'm glad I've got over it more. I still don't like the idea, and it'll never be the first priority for me to just hop on. (Cause again, I'm not caring for HI3 that much as of now.)

Though. Bringing in the cross continuity like they have for HI3 and Star Rail does get em intrigued. I want to let the material speak for itself in its own select ways.

That's segwaying too heavily though. Throwing it back to the main topic, the fandom is at that perpetual struggle point. I believe respect just needs to be better reinforced, while that perpetual wheel of obsession guiding people to be reckless needs to REALLY be toned down. This goes for 'character love' but moreso the ideas that people genuinely will get judged for if they don't agree with.

This is most pointedly directed at ship culture. A catalyst for what I imagine is 80% of Hoyoverse related issues. It gets personal, it gets messy, and ugly. I've made another post on this once upon a time, but this isn't just with Hoyoverse either, that's just a generalized weakness of fandom culture overall because people gain unhealthy commitments about this. Again, proper respect would be a hell of a good deterrent for this.
