As a witch, what are your thoughts on the second moon we're getting on the 29th?
I haven't thought about it much but honestly, but this last full moon this month was really powerful so I feel it's significant. For those of you who don't know what we're talking about, here's a summary:
Say hello to 2024 PT5, Earth’s newest mini-moon. Expected to go into orbit of Earth for a couple of months from Sept. 29, 2024 PT5 is a near-Earth asteroid that’s about to be captured by our planet for a short time before being released back into the solar system to orbit the sun. (source)
From what I understand we won't be able to see it because it's too small, but I still think it's significant. To me this as an opportunity to acknowledge the change that happens in the universe around us. We are not the only ones who change, both on the macro level as a group of beings and on a micro level. For example, we as individuals change but people near us also change and it's easy to forget that.
As Pythagoras supposedly said, “There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres.” I would take the time to stand outside in silence and absorb the sky, look at the stars. And even if you can't see the second moon, just know that it's there. We are affected even by things we can't see or sense.

Pythagoras used intervals of harmonic ratios as a type of medicine for "dis-eases" of the body, the emotions, & the Soul. “He aligned Souls to their divine nature” and through music he performed what he called, “Soul Adjustments”. Pythagoras was able to discern the harmony and consonance of heavenly bodies: the “Music of the Spheres”...

HARMONY OF THE SPHERES
concept and proposal
I intend to produce a soundscape that is inspired by the harmony of the spheres. The harmony of the spheres is a historical and philosophical idea that has been explored from various perspectives over time. It represents the belief that celestial bodies, such as the planets and stars create harmonious and melodious sound as they move through the cosmos, the music produced can be represented through mathematical ratios. The idea was first thought by Pythagoras who said, “There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres”.
The idea is not based on actual sound waves, but rather on the belief that the motions of these celestial bodies follow mathematical patterns that can be compared to music. Pythagoras thought distances and speeds of celestial objects could be expressed as simple mathematical ratios. For example, they thought that the time it takes for a planet to orbit the sub could be represented as a musical note, which would harmonise with other planets in the solar system.
Ancient societies believed that the harmony of the spheres were connected to the idea that the the movements of celestial bodies had a profound influence on earthly events, including human behaviour and fate/ destiny. The idea also influenced music theory in medieval and renaissance times as composers attempted to mimic the celestial harmonies in their compositions, which is what I would like to do in a less literal and scientific sense, but rather how I interpret the celestial bodies to sound like.
I want to draw on the concept of the harmony of the spheres, to create a soundscape installation work that reflects cosmic beauty and the solar system. I think that whatever we make is inevitably very human and I want to embrace the experience of the instinctual need to understand the unknown parts of space. I will take inspiration from sounds which have been recorded in space, or sounds that have been theorised or produced throughout history.

Rules: Post 5 songs that remind you of your muse.
“First Light” - Cinematic Pop Orchestra
First light, can’t help but remember that long drive Watching the embers grow cold And with eyes red, I choked on the words that were never said Like strangers we said our goodbyes
“Rubik’s Cube” - Athlete
Oh I'm like a kid who just won't let it go Twisting and turning the colors in rows I'm so intent to find out what it is This is my Rubik's cube I know I will figure it out
“Stitches” - Jon Cozart (Shawn Mendes Cover)
I thought that I've been hurt before But no one's ever left me quite this sore Your words cut deeper than a knife Now I need someone to breathe me back to life
“Shiver” - Coldplay
So you know how much I need you But you never even see me, do you And is this is my final chance of getting you
“Alibi” - 30 Seconds To Mars
I fell apart, but got back up again And then I fell apart, but got back up again And then I fell apart, but got back up again

More witch related asks- If you believe in magic, where do you draw your power from? A deity, etc?
Good question. I think this is often a case of semantics and personal feelings but I will answer as transparently as possible. I'm about 98% skeptic, but I do feel certain energies and feelings without context, and I don't completely believe in coincidences, etc. "There is geometry in the humming of the strings. There is music in the spacing of the spheres." – Pythagoras - that kind of thing. For example, I experienced really intense feelings at the great conjunction in 2020. So while I don't really believe in magic in a traditional or even modern conception of the idea of magic, I am open to feelings and powers that one might consider magic.
If I have any power at all I draw it from ancestral spirits and memories, nature, and the bonds I share with friends. I symbolically follow/worship Cernunnos, also Herne and Krampus who are part of the same grouping of deities you might say. There is antler and horn imagery on both sides of my family, so I'm always drawn to that energy and meaning.
