It was supposed to be a vacation. A time to relax after Graduate School and unwind the pent-up tension I'd built up in the years of juggling school and work. Finally, I'd have the chance to breathe. Craving the serenity of mother nature's caress, I'd chosen Forks, a four-hour drive from the University, based on the stories I'd heard from Washington locals I'd known in school. With its endless trees and rainy weather, it seemed a perfect sleepy dream spot. In retrospect, my belief that it was solely my decision to visit and not the Universe's mystic call pulling me there was mortal ignorance. But who besides a creature possessing the gift of predestination could have anticipated what awaited me by the cliffs?
Tumblr media
The salty air of the Pacific mixes hypnotically with the natural, earthy smells of the greenery. From the moment I'd driven into the small town of Forks, I'd been surrounded by the rejuvenating smell of rain and the canopy of trees. Stepping out of my car at the head of the trail only intensifies the aroma and overwhelming feeling of being protected by the ancient trees.
While helping me pick out new laces for my boots, the local sporting goods store employee mentioned that today would be the best for hiking for the week. Not too hot with a partial cloud cover, but not a downpour of rain either. He'd mentioned a beautiful ocean view on one of the higher cliffs off the beaten path.
Hike till you get to a spot with two large trees that grow together into an x shape. It's hard to miss.
He'd said as he packed my few things into a small paper bag. Thanking him, I got back into my car and drove in the direction he'd pointed out on my paper map.
I check through my backpack, mentally checking off all the necessities before locking my car door. The guy had been confident I'd find the landmark easily. Still, I was vigilant as I walked, scanning the trees for the described marker.
"There you are," I mumble to myself, veering off the path to the right. The guy wasn't joking; this really was off the general path. The damp ground was littered with fallen branches and large stones sticking out from the dirt, creating a puzzle to maneuver around. I was committed to seeing this breathtaking view and fought through the obstacles.
After fifteen minutes of stumbling and catching myself, the brush starts to thin out, the ocean fragrance strengthening with each step forward. I duck under another branch before walking into the idyllic view.
"Wow!" is all I can vocalize as I walk closer to the cliff's edge. It feels like I've found the edge of the world, viewing the neverending ocean from a point of view not meant for human eyes.
Dropping my backpack on the ground, I sit crosslegged and take it all in. This was exactly what I'd been craving ever since graduation. Complete relaxation and a view that kept on giving.
Stretching my arms behind me, I lean my weight back, soaking my face in the limited sunlight. I let my mind wander, humming as I think about everything and nothing.
snap
My eyes shoot open. Had someone followed me? From the sports store guy's words, I didn't think many people ventured to this spot. From experiencing the hike here, it definitely was a bit too off the path for the average hiker to wander onto.
I slowly craned my neck towards the snapping noise, expecting someone to exit the brush. To my horror, instead of a human leg, I see the flash of fur dash behind the trees and bushes. A thrill of panic shoots up my spine as I scramble to my feet.
What the fuck was that? A wild dog? A mountain lion? I had no weapons, only a few small rocks scattered around me, nothing substantial that would scare away a large predator.
Another snap echoes through the trees.
My mind races as I stumble over my choices: Jump from the cliff and definitely die or run back into the forest and hope that whatever creature was hiding there was more interested in whatever else was hiding in the trees.
The possibility of living had me running back into the brush, dodging rocks and trees clumsily. More rustling causes my breath to catch, making my movements more uncoordinated as I stumble over another divet in the ground, half regaining my balance before I fall.
My heart leaps in my chest when the thing I thought was chasing me steps out in front of me. Nothing could have prepared me for what it was. The thing-- a massive wolf, grey and black, trains its large eyes on me. My situation darkens as a second chocolate-brown wolf steps out of the brush beside its companion.
"No, no--" I try to pivot on my heels, instantly deciding that dying in the ocean was far better than being mauled to death by freakishly large killer wolves. My luck doesn't improve as my foot catches on another tree root propelling me to the ground.
The world goes black.
Tumblr media
"Fuck!"  I think, glancing over at Embry, " Did she knock herself out?"
"Looks like it, " Embry steps closer to the unconscious girl, " What do we do? "
I phase back, Embry following suit.
"We have to take her back to Emily's." I glance over at my friend.
"What?" Embry shakes his head, "We definitely shouldn't do that."
Frowning, I look back at the girl. There's something in me that knows she's somehow important. Leaving her here isn't an option I'm willing to negotiate on.
"We can't leave her here. No one will find her."
"That isn't our--"
I interrupt, "It's our fault. We scared her."
Embry growls, "We'll drop her off at the hospital then--"
I shake my head, "That won't look good. Dropping off a random unconscious girl? No, Emily's is the safest option."
Embry's face is hard with thought. Finally, he concedes, "Fine. You're probably right. It would look..." Embry glances down at the girl, "Bad. But how do you plan on getting her there? We're miles away."
That's a hiccup in my rescue plan-- er-- lack of rescue plan.
"Oh! You can phase back; grab Sam's truck and clothes, and we'll drive her there. I'll stay here with her. Make sure she's okay."
Embry bites the inside of his cheek, "Fine. But you better hope she doesn't wake up. That would be one hell of an explanation."
He phases back, running off and leaving me with the girl.
Tumblr media
End of Chapter Notes: I love Twilight, but I don't love a LOT of the details SMeyer chose to write about the Wolf Pack characters. I am sort of throwing canon out of the window and reinventing a lot about the canon characters (nothing too drastic, I promise lol). The Cullen Family exists in this universe still but they're not important to this specific plot. Bella isn't mentioned either because she actually annoys me, but she does exist with Edward. I'm also going to try and sneak in a happy ending for Leah Clearwater because she deserves the WORLD.

THE WHITE SUN AT MIDNIGHT | J.BLACK  Ch. 5
For the past few days after she had talked to Billy Black, Paige's symptoms of becoming a shape-shifter mellowed down but still left her aching. Her burning temperature went down a couple of dozen degrees, and she no longer heard her bones cracking. She was also much calmer and in more control over her emotions besides the occasional snap.
Despite her loud protests, Paige was forced out of the house by Bella, who wanted to visit Jacob and confront him about ignoring her. She told her step-sister that she just wanted to introduce Jacob to her, but Paige knew she was slightly afraid of what Jacob would say. Paige may have never met him, but the way Bella describes him, he sounds like a real jerk.
So, with the moral support of her sister, Bella headed to the Black house. When the two got there, they got out of Bella's pickup truck that had actually been handed down to her from Billy and made their way to the white front door that stood out around the red siding.
Bella knocked softly, and the door opened to reveal Billy in his wheelchair. "Bella? Paige?" He questioned, and Bella stuffed her hands in her pockets.
"I need to see him," Bella replied, only milliseconds after the man had finished.
Billy sighed, a long pause before he spoke, "he's not in." Bella pursed her lips together into a straight line then walked around Billy's wheelchair.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I really need to see him," she rushed out, and Paige walked behind her as she ran through the house.
"Bella!" Billy called after her, and she burst through a door in the back of the house. The girl stopped once she saw Jacob passed out on his small mattress with a single blanket thrown over his body. Paige peered over Bella's shoulder to see what the infamous Jacob Black looked like and what she saw made her stop in her track even if she wasn't moving.
He was gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. He had his father's tan skin, his black hair was cut short and messy, probably from sleeping, or maybe it was always like that, Paige couldn't tell. He also wore a dark grey muscle shirt that complemented his blush-colored lips and buff figure.
She was too in awe at the perfect boy that she didn't notice Bella looking out the window to see four boys around Jacob's age advancing towards the house.
Paige was finally snapped out of her trace when Bella nudged her side roughly and told her to follow her outside. Paige had no idea what her sister was doing until they approached the four boys.
"What did you do?" Bella yelled at them. "What did you do to him?"
"Easy!" Sam Uley, the Alpha of the pack, barked.
"He didn't want this," Bella cried, and Paige backed up slightly, getting a bad feeling in her gut.
"What did we do? What did he do? What'd he tell you?" Paul snarled.
"Both of you calm down," Sam cut in.
"Nothing. He tells me nothing because he's scared of you," Bella said, and all the boys snickered. The Swan then lifted her hand and smacked Paul right across the face making Paige's eyebrows raise.
"Too late now," Jared commented.
"Bella, Paige, get back!" Sam warned, and Paige furrowed her eyebrows while she and Bella started backing away slowly. How did Sam know her name?
Paul started growling softly as his chest heaved up and down. "Paul, calm down, now!" Sam cautioned at him. Paul's growling got worse, and his body started thrashing around until he morphed into something Paige had only seen her father do. He shifted into a werewolf!
Bella and Paige, not knowing what to do, gasped and started running away with Paige in front. "Bella!" Jacob screamed and hopped over the back deck. Stumbling over to Bella and Paige, who continued to panic.
"Run! Jake, run!" Bella screeched. Jake then jumped over Bella and Paige and transformed into his wolf form mid-air. Bella tripped over a log, which made her fall to the ground but Paige remained standing as they stared at the werewolf in fear.
Paige couldn't bring herself to forget that she would one day be something like that. Something so terrifying and savage.
Jacob then pounced at Paul's grey wolf, who fought back just as rough. They bit at each other's necks as they rolled into the woods, breaking a wood boat in the process.
"Hey! Take Bella and Paige back to Emily's place," Sam announced to the two remaining boys before running into the woods after Jake and Paul.
"Guess the wolfs out of the bag," Embry joked and offered Bella his hand.

As Bella's red pickup truck pulled up to a rather ragged and natural house, Paige glanced at Bella, who looked uneasy. Embry and Jared hopped out of the car with a loud whoop, and Bella rolled down her window.
"Hey, I think we should go back and see if Jacob's okay," she advised, but the two boys just laughed.
"I hope Paul sinks some teeth in him. Serves him right," Jared said.
"No way. Jacob's a natural. You see him phase on the fly? I got five says Paul doesn't touch him," Embry argued as they started walking in but stopped once they realized the girls weren't behind them. "Come on in, girls. We won't bite," Embry chuckled.
"Speak for yourself," Jared said before walking inside. Paige and Bella hesitated but eventually got out with a sigh. They went towards the door when Embry came up to them.
"Oh, hey, about Emily, Sam's fiancee? Don't stare. It bugs Sam," he said soberly.
"Why would I stare?" Paige asked Bella because Embry had run inside. Bella shrugged, and the two sisters walked inside the house.
"Are you guys hungry? Like I have to ask," Emily laughed at her own words, and the two other girls walked in awkwardly. Bella gulping, and Paige playing with her fingers. There they saw a woman setting out some huge muffins, and when she turned towards them, they held in gasps.
She had a huge gash on her right cheek, partly covered by her black bangs and long feathery hair, but it was definitely noticeable since it took up almost half of her face.
"Who's this?" Emily asked with a small smile.
"Bella Swan and Paige Claymore. Who else?" Jared mocked, and Emily hummed.
"So, you're the vampire girl," Emily gestured to Bella. "And you're the soon to be member of the pack," she gestured to Paige. Both girls froze. A complete stranger had just revealed their biggest secrets to one another. But they tried to act normal like they had told each other these things.
"So, you're the wolf girl," Bella defused the tension.
Emily giggled, "guess so. Well, I'm engaged to one." She set the tray of muffins down, and Embry and Jared were about to take seconds when Emily grabbed their wrists. "Save some for your brothers. And ladies first. Muffin?"
Paige and Bella hesitated but nodded, either way, not wanting to be rude. "Sure. Thanks," Bella whispered.
"Leave it to Jacob to find a way around Sam's gag order," Emily muttered as the sisters took a muffin each.
"He didn't say anything to me," Bella said quickly.
"That's a wolf thing. Alpha's orders get obeyed whether we want them to or not. And check it out. We can hear each other's thoughts," Embry exclaimed and looked at Paige, "something you probably won't enjoy so much." He smirked at her, and Emily shoved him.
"Would you shut up? These are trade secrets. Damn it! This chick runs with vampires," Jared snapped and pointed to Bella with his muffin.
"You can't really run with vampires," Bella giggled, which Emily soon joined in on. "'Cause they're fast."
"Yeah? Well, we're faster. Freaked out yet?" Jared hissed.
"You're not the first monsters I've met," Bella said.
"Jake's right. You're good with weird," Sam interrupted as he walked into the house. Paige and Bella tensed up at another shape-shifter entering the room. Two was enough, let alone the Alpha.
"Hey," Sam greeted Emily and started pepper kissing her face as she started laughing again. Bella looked at them with great jealousy in her eyes, but it was cut short by two boys walking in as they playfully pushed each other.
In came Jacob and Paul, both laughing as Paul made his way over to Embry and Jared, sitting next to them. He looked up at both the girls who had their teeth gritted together and smiled mischievously. "Sorry," he said before turning back towards the others. Bella looked at Jake, and he nodded his head to outside, telling her that they needed to talk.
Bella nodded before looking at Paige and squeezing her hand. She followed Jacob outside, and they took a walk, Jake explaining everything. Bella also asked about Paige and her relationship to the pack which he answered. Meanwhile, Paige was asking the pack all of her questions. By the end of the day, both girls knew everything they hadn't told each other.

~The Heros~Paul lahote x reader
~Warning! Abuse / swearing~y/n = your name ( I’m just assume geneder here so if your what I put down please feel free to privte messege me if you would like it changed), plus this is prob 100% sh*t buttt let me know)
You sat staring at yourself in the mirror at your desk, atempting to cover up the brusies left once again by your father, it was hard as the make up kept running down your face due to the tears you had to meet up with Paul and the pack for the end of the summer bomb fire.
You didn’t want any of them knowing because they would beat your dad to a blood pole you tried to cover it up as best you could, after about an hour or so fixing up your face you were sadicfied and headed to Billy Blacks, Paul ran up and hugged you causing you to wince “You okay?” He asked. You nodded your head not wanting to speak because you knew you would break.
“Y/n what’s wrong?” He asked worry building up in his eyes, “I’m fine Paul, really.” you said giving him a smile “Alright come on.” he said you guy went a sat down by the rest of the pack while Billy told the legends of the tribe, after the stories you looked at the time on your phone and jumped up kissing Paul, an walking off “Where are you going?” Paul asked running after you.

I Saw It In A Movie One Time (ch 6) - Digging
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
Chapter 7
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Kai whispered to herself. One glance out the window and she knew— it was obvious. The Cullens got the wolves involved in the situation and now they were guarding her outside her store. She didn’t recall their faces from the movies, but the tattoos spoke loudly enough.
“I swear. They’re just trying to show off at this point,” she thought. Anyone in the real world who saw this would probably agree. One was in a gray tank and the other in a T-shirt with the sleeves cut off, exposing the mark on their upper arm.
Kai formulated a plan to get them away. Luckily, there was no one in the store and by the looks of the parking lot and the cars that drove by— or lack thereof— nobody would be coming in anytime soon. She pushed the door open with her two hands and looked up at the two of them who were a whole foot taller and two inches or more taller than her.
“Boys, if you aren’t planning on purchasing anything I’m gonna have to ask you to leave the storefront and our parking lot. Sorry,” she said, avoiding eye contact by looking past them or at the floor, then turned right on her heel back into the store before they could say anything to her. But she heard a “sorry” on her way inside.
Paul and Seth stared at her until she was inside, thinking the exact same thing— though Pauls’ expression gave it away too easy, “dude. She’s short,” he snickered.
Seth’s eyes moved from the entrance door to his pack mates’, “yeah say it louder I don’t think she heard you. Let’s go before she calls someone else to chase us away,” he advised his superior with a light push to his shoulder.
The two ran off into the woods and phased. Two hours had passed anyways and she happened to only catch them five minutes before they were to switch off with Embry and Jacob.
“She’s still there?” Embry asked through his thoughts
Seth let out a huff, “Yeah, but she saw us and told us we can’t stand outside the store,” he explained
“We’ll just stay in the woods in this form,” Jacob decided for himself and for Embry. With a nod, all four wolves went on their way.
Seth didn’t mind that this was the only thing Sam would let him do. Since he became a wolf, Sam would only allow him to stay home and study. No wolf duties. He remembered the girl they had to protect, and reminded himself to do a good job so Sam would possibly allow him to take on some more exciting wolf duties, All the while Kai’s face lingered in the back of his mind.
“Got a crush or something?” Paul teased Seth, nudging him a little bit.
“No! I’m just... reflecting. I wanna do good I mean— when’s Sam gonna let me do all the wolf stuff next?” Seth defended
Paul gave him nothing more than a huff in disbelief. It was normal for an 18 year old to have a crush but the whole world know how shy Seth could be
Kai almost felt bad for having to tell the two shapeshifters to leave, but she knew that in the movies, none of this happened. Her blood boiled in frustration at Edward who didn’t listen to her pleas. For the next hour she stood behind the counter, occasionally looking outside for any other suspicious activity that might involve the wolves. Other than that, she pretended to scan the store every once in a while— though it was pointless because there were usually no more than five to ten customers at a time.
The three-hour shift that seemed to stop the clock every time had finally ended. Kai walked urgently to her car leaving no time for conversation if anyone was going to try to stop her.
Kai managed to avoid them for the rest of the week, until Saturday. Her heart had been racing at the thought of Victoria coming around like Edward warned her. Still, she payed no mind to it and went to work anyway. She figured the wolves would be keeping watch anyway.
It was 1:30 p.m. and as soon as Kai opened the door to leave, with a few huffs of frustration because she forgot item after item, remembering each one as she was just about to leave. Finally, after checking and double checking for everything she opened the door. There stood Alice unexpectedly. Her heart stopped and she let out a yelp.
“I’m so sorry!” Alice apologized, her hands out to help her— only she didn’t know how so she could only watch as Kai recollected herself
Kai put a hand over her chest and looked up at Alice, clearly trying to get her heart back to normal, “Do you need something?”
“I need you to stay at home,” she said brightly, extending the “I” in her sentence.
“Yeah, not happening. I need to pay the electricity bill and 18 hours this week isn’t gonna cut it. So, if you’ll excuse me,” she said, trying to push past her. That’s when something clicked in Alice’s head.
“Do you know who I am?” She asked her, curious to see just how much this girl knew. This was their first meeting, after all, and it seemed Kai already had an idea that Alice’s appearance was related to Edward somehow.
“Uh... yeah you’re Christina,” Kai lied. Of course she knew who Alice was but she wasn’t actually planning on telling her. She’s not even supposed to be talking to these people.
Alice rolled her eyes, “I think you’re thinking of someone else,” she countered, “I’m Alice.”
“And I’mma be late for work. Excuse me,” Kai attempted to push past her once again.
“I called your boss and told him you were sick,” Alice said, trying to keep her home once more, “We really don’t want you to be in danger. We know Victoria’s coming and so do you,” she said, her tone switching to one of urgency.
“My boss is gonna be glad to see me,” she pushed with all of her force past alice, “not sick, and doing just fine,” she stalked to her car and drove quickly.
Alice sighed, “she’s stubborn,” she thought.
-
Victoria snarled upon the scent of Kai. It was a bitter taste to her that a small, meekly little human could do so much to infiltrate her mind. It drove her absolutely mad. The best part of the game to her was when people would ask, “who are you? What do you want?”. But when Kai whispered Victoria’s name— it was sickening to her.
Victoria crept through the woods just across the street where she caught sight of Kai.
“pity,” she thought.
Kai was beautiful with golden tan skin, raven black and tinted indigo hair, freckles adorned her face especially around her nose and underneath her eyes. Vampires were known to be beautiful, and Victoria felt almost envious of the life Kai carried through her irises.
She planned to make this quick. Use her inhuman speed to take Kai, drag her right back out into the woods then kill her for a meal. She took a step that unfortunately for her landed on a twig with a snap. Her eyes flicked to the left and instantly was met with a giant merciless claws of the shapeshifter. She took off running across the treaty line where the Cullens were waiting.
-
“Are you sure this is where you saw her?” Carlisle asked Alice.
“She probably would’ve been here by now if Kai stayed home,” Rosalie hissed. Everyone stood patiently, undoubtedly trusting Alice.
“She’s near,” Alice said.
“On your left!” She directed.
The chase was on. Carlisle and Jasper made a start for Victoria, each coming so close to catching her but she escaped every time. Even as she hopped over to the wolves’ territory, she was able to escape every time. Emmett risked it all to catch her by jumping off his land and into theirs, and was violently blocked by Paul. The tensions between the two sworn mortal enemies were high enough for Victoria to make a satisfying escape.
-
Kai pulled into the driveway after one hell of a shift. She shut her eyes and lolled her head back in furstration upon seeing Edward and Alice in front of her house, “If I see you outside of my house ever again, I’m calling the police. Or jumping off a bridge. Honestly, I don’t know but please,” she begged desperately, “just leave me alone!”
She just got back from an exhausting six-hour shift at work, her shitty manager had a bone to pick with her every move, and more than five irritated customers angry at her for just doing her job.
Alice felt sympathetic toward Kai. It was obvious how tired she was. Edward grimaced as well, hearing her thoughts reflecting on the events at work. But he had to do what he had to do.
“We can’t do that—” Edward began.
“Don’t!” She exclaimed, palms toward Edward to stop him, “Please don’t. I’m fine, see? Victoria didn’t get to me,”
“The wolves stopped her,” Alice explained.
Kai let out an exasperated sigh. They were getting involved in her life and she was in theirs. At this point, there was no coming back from it.
“Fine. What are you here for?” She asked, defeated. She unlocked the door to her house and the duo followed her in.
“I just—,” Edward stopped himself, collecting his thoughts, “We wanted to know you were okay,”
“Shouldn’t you be worried about Bella? Where is she anyway?” Kai shot back.
“You know Bella?” Alice asked, but it came out as more of a statement.
Kaileia cursed to herself and chose not to answer her. Dammit.
“You can clearly see that I’m okay,” she offered to Edward, “if that’s all you needed, I’m sure you know where the door is—”
“I’d like to know how you know everything,” Alice interjected with a small smile, “Its just— Edward said you knew about him being a vampire and how he reads minds. When I came to the door the other day, you acted like we’d met before. And you know about Bellas’ and Edwards’ relationship,” she explained with a light voice. Kai almost felt bad that she couldn’t tell them anything and took this as her cue to start yelling in her head so that Edward couldn’t read anything.
“I can’t tell you that,” she stated bluntly.
Alice ducked her head, still giving her effort into finding out, “can you tell us when or how you got here?”
Kai shook her head, “No.”
Alice sighed. She was starting to feel the defeat that Edward did.
Edward stood, “is there anything that you can tell us?” He asked her
“Only what I told you before, that talking to me any longer than you are right now could cost lives,” Kai explained imperatively, “I really think you guys should go,” she pleaded, desperation all across her face.
Alice sighed, “whatever you were trying to avoid— it’s here. It’s now. You can’t keep running from us I mean,” she shrugged, “I know you didn’t mean to, but you drew us in. I’m sure you knew the wolves and that’s why you kicked them out of the store, didn’t you?”
Kai nodded. In her head, she was debating on whether or not it would be good to tell them the truth. The pros and cons sorted themselves out in their heads.
“I kicked them out because they were soliciting,” she lied.
“It’s a public area,” Edward countered.
“ ‘Kay well they were annoying me,” she finished.
The three of them stayed silent. “You’re not gonna leave till you get whatever it is you want, are you?” Kai asked
“I’m not. I’m actually supposed to stand watch for you— you’re welcome,” she said with a smile.
Kai shook her head, eyes half-closed in annoyance, “I didn’t asked to be stalked.”
“You didn’t have to,” Edward smirked.
“You ever get tired of being a shithead?” Kai asked, half joking. She didn’t know what clicked, but some...(in)human contact that wasn’t her boss was refreshing in a way. After all, she avoided every single person with every single conversation since she woke up in Forks seven months ago.
Edward let out a small laugh, “I have too much time to ever be tired.”
Kai’s expression dropped, “you can’t be sure of that anymore.”
Edward and Alice looked to each other questionably. When they attempted to ask her to explain, she waved them off or chose not to answer. The two eventually gave up on questions and invited her to dinner instead, to which she rejected.
Alice was getting desperate, “Well it’s either you come to us tomorrow night, or we come to you,” she proposed, a smirk on her face upon seeing Kai’s visible defeat, “you choose.”
“Alice. You don’t understand what you’re doing,” she was begging them to stop their advances. It was worrying her how involved she’s become.
“Then help us to,” she replied
“I can’t.”
“Then we’ll have to help ourselves,” Alice said, “Will we see you tomorrow?”
Kai was beginning to feel discouraged. There was so much more at stake than Alice realized. Edward stayed silent for most of the conversation, trying to find loopholes in Kai’s mind that could give him some answers but— nothing. He drew in a sharp breath as her thoughts seemed to cease to exist. There was nothing. Edward couldn’t hear anything from her.
“What was that?” he asked Kai, still in shock
“What was what?” She asked him
He looked up at her, his eyes wide, “I can’t hear your thoughts, only Alices’”
Kai’s eyes widened. Things were starting to change just through the conversation they were having. She shook her head fearfully, “You two really need to go. It’s getting dangerous.”
“I’ll be here to pick you up tomorrow at 7. Don’t be late,” Alice said. With that, the two left her house and Kai stood alone in her kitchen.
Did that change something? Edward can’t hear her thoughts. What’s next? The wolves don’t shift? Alice doesn’t see the future? Holy shit.
She continued to stand in the kitchen, cup of water in hand. She did nothing, just stared. Her thoughts ran faster than they ever had in her life and a tear rolled down her cheek out of fear. Things were changing and she couldn’t do anything to stop it.
-
Edward and Alice went home puzzled, “May— maybe we shouldn’t be involved,” Edward proposed.
“What do you mean?” Alice asked.
“She keeps on emphasizing that it could mean life and death if we keep talking to her and I mean—” he shook his head in disbelief, “It’s proven. I stopped hearing her thoughts.”

Edward Cullen has given up hope of ever finding his mate. He goes through his days with barely any energy, except for talking to his best friend Bella Swan. So when Hadrian Minamoto, his mate, shows up looking even more beautiful than he could ever imagine, you could understand his sadness at being rejected. This leads to Edward deciding to try everything to win over his mate while helping him get over his previous boyfriend. It's safe to say that Edward Cullen would do anything for his little mate. Even if that means he has to put up with his mate's army of followers. Because apparently Hadrian Minamoto is a certified bad ass, with a phd in being terrifyingly beautiful.
“And those slanted wide eyes, that swirled with pain and wisdom, like he had seen hundreds of horrors. Those emerald eyes glowed with hidden meaning; he could write a whole book of poems about those eyes. Oh god he really was turning into an e-boy, Bella was right. But he couldn’t help it. He was perfect, and he looked so tempting.“~Ch. 2

Twilight Jennifer Garcia x Jacob Black Ch. 3
That night Jennifer sat around a big bonfire with the rest of her childhood friends talking, eating it was almost as if Jennifer had never left. Currently Jennifer was watching as Embry inhaled his fourth hotdog and starting on his fifth. Jennifer’s appetite wasn’t as big as the boys, but she was saving her appetite for the salmon her mom would be making that night. As she listened to the lively chatter of her friends her phone rang. She answered it and was immediately greeted by the sound of her mother’s voice “Jenny dinner’s ready time to come home” She said Jennifer nodded “Okay mom, I’ll be there soon, bye, I love you” She said. Jennifer stood up and brushed off her jeans “I got to go guys, my mom made salmon for dinner, and I need to get back before it gets cold” She said. “Oh, so salmon’s more important than us?” Quil quipped, Jennifer tapped her chin “Well,” she started. Quil glared at her she giggled “I’m joking Quil, I love you guys, but I’m really hungry right now so I’ll see you all later” Jennifer said as she hopped off her chosen log.
“Wait Jennifer, do you need anyone to walk you home?” Sam asked “Nah, I’ll be fine, my house isn’t too far from here,” Jennifer hummed as she turned and walked into the forest. The moon was full and cast a dim glow over the earth, Jennifer hopped over logs and ran her fingers against the bark of trees, her eyes focused on her feet, so that she wouldn’t trip. Just then Jennifer heard a wolf’s howl, she looked up in surprise, her eyes surveying her surroundings. Oddly enough Jennifer didn’t feel frightened at the prospect of a wolf being nearby, in fact she felt a strange pulling sensation in her heart like the howl was calling to her. Letting curiosity get the best of her she trailed off the path and into the direction the howl came from.
Jennifer paced lightly through the forest, the moon lighting her way. Minutes later she heard the howl again, and she picked up her pace until she was running through the woods, almost tripping and falling at some points. She stopped at an unfamiliar clearing and peaked through a gap in a pair of trees. Standing there in the moonlight was a wolf, but this one was much bigger than any other wolf Jennifer had ever seen. It was about the size of a horse, and its fur was shaggy, and brown, its large head was tilted back toward the sky.
Jennifer paced forward her foot meeting a twig, making a loud snapping noise. The wolf tilted its head down and its eyes connected with Jennifer’s and she felt her breath hitch. This wolf’s eyes were deep brown, and completely captivating, Jennifer felt her heart begin race. As she stared at the wolf she barely noticed as her feet started to pace forward in the wolf’s direction, its eyes watching her every step curiously. Her feet stopped when she was directly in front of it, they stared at each other for a while Jennifer staring into the wolf’s eyes and him staring right back.
“Wow,” Jennifer whispered. The wolf stared at her, almost as if it was in a trance. “You’re a big fella aren’t you?” Jennifer said she slowly reached her hand out wanting to touch the wolf’s fur only for her phone to ring, shattering the tense silence she quickly answered “Hello?” She asked “Jennifer! Where are you?! Are you okay?” Samantha demanded; Jennifer winced “I’m fine mom I just got a little sidetracked. I’ll be home soon” She said “Hurry up your food’s getting cold. Are you sure you’re okay?” Samantha asked, “Yeah mom I’m okay bye.” Jennifer hung up and looked at the animal in front of her “I have to go home now, my mom is waiting for me,” She said the wolf let out a soft whimper “It’s okay I’m sure I’ll see you again.” Jennifer patted the wolf on the head before turning and exiting the clearing she waved over her shoulder as she went. Jennifer’s mind raced as she walked the rest of the way home because there apparently was a giant wolf living in La Push.
She ran her fingers through her hair. What on earth could cause a wolf to grow to that size? Her mind went to the stories she had been told as a child about the tribes and how they were descended from wolves. She never truly believed any of them, but what if they were true? What if there were werewolves in La Push. The idea would have been ridiculous to Jennifer any other day, but after the week she had been having she wasn’t so sure what was real and what was fiction anymore. ‘Relax Jenny you can think about this tomorrow. Maybe Sam will have answers.’ Jennifer thought. She continued to walk until she got to her house, she entered with a noticeably dejected look on her face ‘Why do I feel so weird?’ She thought. “Jenny! Is that you honey?” Samantha called from her place in the kitchen. “Yeah, mom it’s me.” Jennifer called back as she walked into the kitchen and lingered in the doorway. Samantha turned her head to look at her “There you are! I was getting worried for you sweetie,” She sighed Jennifer smiled “Yeah um sorry I’m late I got lost on the way back here,” Jennifer muttered.
Samantha raised an eyebrow “That’s weird you’ve never gotten lost before” She said, “Ah, well I guess I’ve been away for too long, so um how about we eat?” Jennifer proposed. She hastily walked over to the kitchen sink and began washing her hands. Samantha opened her mouth and then closed it. She shook her head and joined Jennifer by the sink. After dinner Jennifer retired to her room to go to bed she changed into her pajamas, which consisted of an over-sized black shirt with a picture of a fox on it, and crawled into bed. For a while Jennifer laid there her eyes fixated on her popcorn ceiling her mind raced as one question popped up over and over again, how long had werewolves been living here? She needed to ask Sam, but it was too late in the night she doubted he would be awake, and why did she feel this way? It was like there was a heaviness in her heart and she didn’t start feeling it until after she had seen that wolf in the forest ‘I wonder what this means.’ She thought. Eventually, Jennifer drifted off to sleep her mind still clouded with the confusing details of tonight.
A/N: Third chapter finished! Whew! That took longer than expected. There is no telling how long it will be until the next chapter will be up. I’ll try my best see you then.

By The Cliffs (Ch 3/?)
Paul Lahote x Female Reader
Prev. Chapter
Wattpad I AO3
Rating: T+
Word Count: 2529
Summary: It was supposed to be a vacation.
Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight or any of Meyer's Characters. This work is not created for profit or financial compensation, and is a transformative fair use work in accordance with Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act.
Notes: Reader's POV are my FAVORITE to write. She's so funny! I hope you enjoy living in this story with me<3
Warnings: This fic is about Imprinting. Warning if that's not your cup of tea. There is some swearing (bc it's my love language) and angst.
Enjoy!

The belief that this could have all been a fantastical experience straight from a horror movie, a nightmare, is shattered when I blink my eyes open to find an unfamiliar ceiling instead of the forest's canopy.
Pain shoots through my skull as I sit up. No, this couldn't have been a dream; I must have hit my head, and hard, by the throbbing at the base of my skull.
Wobbly, I stand and move towards the closed door, silently praying it's unlocked. The knob turns easily, and I swing it open, expecting to find an axe murderer. Not... the delicious aroma of baked goods.
Maybe my captor was like the witch from Hansel and Gretel and was planning on feeding me in preparation for their meal. I try to stifle a laugh. This wasn't funny! I was moved from where I'd fallen to someone's house. This was serious and scary.
Taking a tentative step toward the smell, I glance around the expanding room, looking for exit points for my escape.
"Oh, you're up." I whip my head in the direction of a woman's voice. She's sitting at a big kitchen table, a timer in front of her, "How are you feeling? Quil and Embry said you'd hit your head. I'm glad they had the sense to bring you back here."
I blink back at her, noticing the red scarring that ran down the right side of her face, marring the delicate flesh of her forehead, cheek, and chin.
"Here," the woman stands, moving around the table. She brushes past me, quickly grabbing a tray of pastries, "Eat something. I don't think your head injury is serious, but I'm sure you're hungry."
Hesitantly, I take something from the outreaching tray, "Thank you."
The woman gestures to the table, "Sit, I'm not a doctor, so my word might be complete bullshit. Better safe than sorry."
We sit silently for a few minutes before I say, "I'm (y/n)."
"It's nice to meet you, (y/n). I'm Emily; welcome to my house."
I smile, "Nice to meet you too. How-- how did I get here?" Emily seems nice, but lots of serial killers are charming. I needed the full story before I determined she was safe to be around.
Emily returns the smile, "Quil and Embry brought you after you hit your head." Something in her tone makes me wonder if she's telling the complete story.
"I don't remember--" The memories come rushing back, "There were wolves! Two giant-- almost unnaturally, giant wolves. I fell because they were almost... stalking me. I don't know what made them run away."
Emily bites her lip, "Huh. I guess Embry and Quil must have scared them off. You're lucky they were around, I suppose."
Lucky was an understatement. There was something odd about the coincidence. "I suppose so..."
We sit in uncomfortable silence for a few minutes before I ask, "Who are Quil and Embry to you? I mean-- why did they bring me to your home?"
"You could say-- they're my husband's brothers." Weird answer, again.
"Oh. Are they around here? I want to thank them for saving me."
"They're around here somewhere. But they'll be in sometime soon. They're waiting for their other brothers to come home."
How many brother-in-laws did this woman have?
Arguing outside breaks the uncomfortable silence that comes over us. Three men's voices yell back and forth.
"Yes! She wasn't your problem! How stupid are you two?" One man's voice is mean, rough, and fiery angry.
Yikes. He sounds... reasonable.
"You shouldn't go out there, (y/n)—" Emily's voice interrupts my horrified interest in the scene.
Disregarding her words, I walk towards the front door to see why the man was so upset with who I assume saved my life by the conversation. A group of men stand, opposing two others, no more than fifteen feet away from Emily's home. The tallest looks at the scene, annoyance written on his face as he watches the one-- the presumed yeller by his predatory stance, chest puffed, muscles straining-- become angrier with each second. To the right of Mr. Hothead, the other stands with an authority none of the others match.
"We weren't going to leave the girl in the middle of the woods, Paul. She was hurt, and it was our fault."
Their fault?
"There's no need to wolf out, Paul." The tall man crosses his arms over his chest, his expression continuing to sour.
The angry man, Paul, I guess, begins to shake like he's been unfortunate enough to have stepped on a minuscule earthquake.
I take a step back, bewildered by the scene before me, as it takes an even more... shocking turn.
In an instant, the place where the man was standing is filled with a monstrous gray wolf similar to the ones I'd seen in the woods. Within seconds, two others have exploded, too, leaving behind wolf beasts in their place as well.
"What the fuck?" I yell out on impulse.
All eyes, including the three wolves, turn to me. Surprise is written on-- the human's faces as they take in my presence for the first time. One wolf dashes off towards the back of the house before I can further respond.
I don't wait for the explanation, turning back towards the door, "Quick, Emily! There's a wolf— it's headed towards the back door—"
My head snaps towards the sound of footfalls on wooden steps. A man walks through-- the stern one who, a minute ago, had exploded into a wolf.
The wolfman's eyes lock with mine briefly before landing on Emily, "Paul."
"Paul?" she asks, confusion evident on the unmarred side of her face.
He glances back at me, his expression conflicted, "It's not my place…"
Some sort of understanding comes over Emily's face, "Paul… really?"
The man nods before stepping closer to where I stand.
Panic spreads through my body, "Wait, no--" I put my hand out in a lame attempt at defending myself from the supernatural, "Don't come any closer."
My hostess hesitantly approaches me, "It's okay, (y/n). No one's going to hurt you, I promise."
"You— why aren't you scared? Something freaky is happening here! He's a—" I point an accusatory finger at the man, "A wolf! Same with the people who saved me! And probably the others, too."
She smiles, "I know. They're not going to harm you. You trust me, no?"
"The one— the one yelling? What the hell is happening!"
The man interjects before I can spiral further, "Paul has trouble controlling his anger. We have an agreement between the pack to never bring outsiders into our circle for their protection. He wasn't angry with you, per se. Sit. I'll explain as much of the situation as I can." He motions towards the empty table.
My mind feels eerily empty as I absorb everything he's just said. Still wary of him, I sit in the chair farthest away, "Okay..."
He smiles. I'm not reassured at all by the smile. "First of all, I'm Sam Uley. Emily's husband."
My gaze shoots over to Emily, suddenly feeling silly. No wonder she wasn't afraid; she was completely aware of the oddities happening around here, being married to one of the oddities himself.
"I know what you just saw was-- alarming. But I promise it's not as scary as it seems."
I very much doubt that.
"You just saw what we are. Shapeshifters, wolf shapeshifters, more specifically. I'm the Alpha; the dark brown wolf is Jacob, our Beta, and the—" he chuckles, looking like he knows something I don't, "hot-headed one is Paul, our third in command."
Emily's smile at me as Sam talks about Paul… is weird, to say the least.
"Shapeshifters?" I ignore the uncomfortable look the couple shares.
"It's a-- hereditary trait triggered by the presence of vampires."
"Vampires?" I choke out. Maybe I died, and I'm in hell. Or I hit my head so hard I've lost all connection to reality.
Emily shoots a glare at her husband, "Don't focus too hard on that right now. You're entirely safe with the pack around."
"Sorry," Sam looks sheepishly between his wife and me, "Disregard that for now."
Another bombshell that apparently no one would be addressing.
"I want to say you're ridiculous, and that's a great story, but— I guess unless I've got serious brain damage from my fall and am hallucinating hard, you're not lying… what do I have to do with any of this? You didn't need to tell me anything if it wasn't important."
"It's-- well, it's not entirely my place to explain this next part."
"Then who will?" I'm so over this dude's crypticness.
Sam looks at Emily once again. I'm getting really tired of their shared, knowing looks.
"Paul."
"Paul?" I laugh, "Mr. Hothead's going to explain? No thanks. There has to be someone else, someone more reasonable, that can explain it."
Sam glances at Emily, biting his lip like he's unsure he should be saying this next part. Lucky for him, another voice butts into the conversation.
"Can we talk?"
My head whips around, spooked by the intrusive voice. The man, Paul, is standing in the doorway. He's got a shirt on now, his expression hard for me to read.
I look back at Sam and Emily, unsure I want to be alone with him. Emily nods towards me encouragingly.
Awkwardly, I stand up from my seat, "oh—Kay." The word comes out in two clumsy syllables.
Paul moves away from the door frame, allowing me to walk past him outside.
The uncomfortable vibe between us seems to be one-sided, me being the one who apparently wants the space between our bodies, and he, unknowingly or not, stepping closer with every step forward. I have the sneaking suspicion that he'd take my hand if he could.
We stand silently for a moment away from the house before he speaks, "I didn't ask your name."
"You didn't get the chance," I look away, "But it's (y/n)."
"I'm Paul."
"I'm well aware," I glance up at his face, regretting it. How can he look at me like that? What have I done to deserve the reverence he wore on his face?
I can't handle it. I need to put more space between us.
"Can we walk and talk?" I hope the movement will help prevent my anxiety from bubbling up again.
Paul nods, again taking a step that made it seem like we were magnets that couldn't keep apart. What was up with this guy?
After a few minutes of walking silently, I ask, "Mind telling me why I'm being pressured to talk to you after I listened to you scream at those two for saving my life?" I don't care that the words are harsh. He had said it, after all.
Paul physically cringes, "That— I wouldn't have said it if I'd known."
"Why are you all saying weird, cryptic things like that to me? Known what exactly?" I move further away, and his next step brings us back together again.
Paul kicks a rock, his barefoot evidently fine as it smacks into the decent-sized stone. He huffs once, conflicted by his thoughts.
"I don't know how to explain it without coming off insane."
My laugh sounds a bit more like a-- scoff, "I just watched a bunch of people hulk out, literally. I think I can handle whatever you're going to say."
This gets a smile out of him, "I guess you're right."
After a moment, I wave my hand, "Go on then."
Paul stops walking, and I follow suit. His gaze doesn't waver as he asks me, "Sam explained about the wolf thing, right?"
"That you're a— a shapeshifter wolf? I guess. He didn't go into any great detail, but yes."
"He didn't tell you why we— I stopped fighting, though?"
I shake my head no. I hadn't seen the fight end, too freaked out to pay attention to what the beasts did after I'd rushed back into the house.
"What happened-- caused me to stop, is somewhat indescribable to humans. It's— it's specifically a wolf thing. Or at least I've never met another creature who has experienced it."
"And it is?" I prompt, hating the beating around the bush.
Paul smiles, "It's called imprinting."
I frown, "Imprint like a duck? What does this have to do with me?"
He momentarily looks startled by my words before regaining his composure, "Not— Never mind. I imprinted on you."
I blink once, twice, three times at him before bursting out into laughter, "What are you talking about? No, you didn't!"
I didn't really understand any of this, but the whole scenario was hilarious. Maybe I really did have a head injury.
Hurt crosses his face before morphing into a glower, "Why are you laughing? I'm not joking."
Shaking my head, I walk away, "I don't even want to know what you're talking about. Nope. Go imprint on someone else." I make air quotes as I say the word imprint.
Paul's growl sends a chill up my spine, "That's not how it works."
I turn quickly, my patience for this insanity ending, "Then how does it work? Because I frankly don't want this!"
Paul looks like I've slapped him, "What do you mean?"
"I don't want to live in this nightmare any longer! I just wanted to hike on my vacation, and now suddenly, I'm the werewolf's girlfriend? Can any of you hear how insane this is, or is it just me?"
"Listen—" his hand wraps around my wrist firmly, probably an attempt at grounding me in his words, "I'm being dead serious. Imprinting is never wrong. It's— it's the universe placing two people who belong together, together."
I blink back at him before I feel the simmer of annoyance beneath my skin, "Are you saying I don't have a choice?" I spit the words back at him, shaking his hand off me.
The anger melts off his face as he stares blankly at me. It returns in seconds, "What do you mean a choice?"
"A choice!" I take a step closer to him. "The ability to walk away right now if I wanted!"
"Why would you walk away?" The way he says it, like it would be stupid for me to even consider this, changes the simmer in my chest to a raging boil.
"Have you ever considered that I'm not from here? I don't live here! Hell, I don't want to move here, especially just so your weird wolfy side believes I'm its predetermined soulmate! News flash, buddy, I don't know you!"
I think he's gotten the memo as I successfully make it all the way back to the house's yard until I hear him behind me again, "(y/n), stop."
"No!" I yell back, ignoring the group of men sitting on the porch, watching.
He growls, "You're really pissing me off—"
I reel around, the anger consuming me completely, "You wanna see pissed off, meathead? You ain't seen nothing yet."
Crickets.
One of the men— werewolves' voice speaks, "Shit. She's just like him."
A chuckle rains over the group, causing Paul's nostrils to flare in anger.

THE WHITE SUN AT MIDNIGHT | J.BLACK Ch. 40
Tumblr media
Ash Stymest as Nova Sallow
*La Push, Washington*
"Maybe they'll say she was in a car crash. Or tripped and fell off a cliff," Jacob gloomed, the cold mist from the wind hitting the water brushing against his face. Both Seth and Embry didn't know how to respond, so they remained quiet.
The trio glanced over to the rest of the Uley wolves playing soccer. Laughter filled the air, but the friends kept their straight and sad expressions. With Bella doomed to the most painful experience a human could endure and Paige hundreds of miles away, Jake has been on edge with everyone.
"At least I'll get one thing out of it," the Black boy smirked.
"No, you won't. Cullens are not a danger to the town or the tribe," Sam cut in, viewing Jacob's rather gruesome thoughts. Jake's grin fell, and he growled lowly.
"Well, he's either gonna kill her or change her. And the treaty says --"
"I say, Jacob. I say," with those final words, Sam rushed back to the game.
"You know, if you wanted things different, you should've become Alpha," Embry advised sharply.
"Turning it down seemed like a good idea at the time," Jacob's tone turned serious, and he zoned out, looking at the ocean.
"Jake, you really think you could kill Bella if she comes back a vampire?" Seth said, biting the inside of his cheek in anxiety.
"No, make one of us do it, then hold a grudge against us --" Leah added.
"Shut up, Leah."
"Would you just get over it? It's not like you've imprinted on her!" the Clearwater girl snapped.
"Yeah, but I imprinted on her sister. If I were to kill Bella, then Paige would never forgive me," Jake stated.
"At least they seem happy," the group glared at the giggling sets of imprints.
"Yeah, some people are just lucky, I guess," Embry whispered to Seth who's jaw clenched.
"Lucky?" Jake heard the crashing waves and saw Quil playing with little Claire Young. "None of them belong to themselves anymore. And the sickest part is their genes tell them they're happy about it."
"You're no different than them, Jake. You would never say that if Paige was sitting next to you right now. You'd probably be drowning in your happiness with them," Embry tried to sound teasingly, but it came out too bitter. Jake sighed, remembering his imprint in sorrow.
"At least when you imprinted on her, you finally forgot about Bella," Leah said, and Jake couldn't find the words to reply because he knew she was right. "I mean, being any kind of happy is better than being miserable about someone you can't have."
~:*:~
*Polson, Montana*
Paige stared down at her red hands and started her shaking again. She threw them behind her back when the door to the Anderson house opened, and Ryland walked in.
"As the new third-in-command do you have any first duties you want me to do?" he exclaimed and sat down in the armchair. Paige huffed and ran a hand through her hair, not caring that the dried blood was visible. Ryland didn't seem to care.
"I don't even know my first order to myself, Ry. So please, just be patient," she trembled, and his smile dropped.
"Sorry, I'm just excited. I've never thought I would be a high-ranking member, and now I am. Thank you again," he squealed; Paige sent him a side smile.
"You deserve it. But can you help me decide on something? That can be your first task."
~:*:~
"Shut up!" Chloe screamed across the buzzing conversation, which died immediately. The only sound was the crackling fire everyone was standing around. "Paige has an announcement now be quiet!" everyone moved their gaze from Chloe to Paige, who took a deep breath and stepped on a nearby chair. She looked across the two dozen people and took another breath.
"Thank you, Chloe. Anyways, some of you have asked me what my first order as Alpha will be," the group perked up as Paige continued, "and I actually came up with two orders. First: we bury and honor Kaimbe as we do with all our fallen members." A hush of whispers fell across the crowd.
"And second: once Kaimbe is buried, I have decided to relocate our tribe to a small city to the west of Port Angeles, Washington called Piedmont," the whispers turned into shouts of protest in seconds.
"We can't just pick up and leave!"
"What about my family?!"
"You're insane!"
"You stupid little girl!"
"Shut up!" Paige looked around for who shouted when she realized it was her own voice who had screeched so loudly it made Chloe and Ryland, who were beside her, cover their sensitive ears. "I'm your Alpha now! You follow me! Obey me! And my orders are very clear! It's either you come to Washinton, or you leave my pack! Am I understood?!" the air went silent. A family of four stood up and without a word. They weren't wolves, but the father was a council member. Twenty pairs of eyes fell on them as they grabbed their things and walked to their house to pack up.
Paige gulped as another person stood, followed by two married couples, three elders left, along with a few other strays. And the most shocking of them all wasn't even a tribe member nor a wolf. Just a regular human of catholic beliefs. "Nova!" Shawne hissed and tried to yank his imprint back down, but Nova yanked his sleeve away from Shawne.
"Bite me," the British accent hinted in Nova's voice carried through when he spoke the harsh words. Shawne frowned, having never been one of Nova's victims of insult. The Sallow boy looked at everyone still remaining before walking away. Shawne was too shocked even to turn back around, so his back faced Paige for the rest of the meeting.
In total, sixteen people had left, leaving eight remaining. All of them being wolves. Paige examined each person in pride. These people were her true followers. A sudden surge of power flowed through her causing a small sneer to rise.

I Saw It In A Movie One Time (ch.7) - Cause and Effect
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
Chapter 6
“She has the right to know. She’s the one the red-head wants,” Jacob said menacingly, inches from Edwards face intensively. Edward shut his eyes in defeat.
“Victoria?” Bella questioned, “Alices’ vision.” She spared a glance at Edward who’s gaze left the floor. He took her to Jacksonville not just for Bella to see her mom, but to prevent her from knowing that Victoria was hunting her
“I was trying to protect you,” he defended.
“By lying to me.” She accused. “You,” She turned to Jacob, “Why haven’t you called me back?”
Jacob contemplated on his answer but decided to go with the truth, “I had nothing to say.”
“Well, I have tons hold up—” Bella said.
Edward attempted to stop her though she resisted. She climbed onto Jacobs’ motorcycle, wrapped her arms around his torso and Jacob accelerated away.
Upon arriving to Emily’s house, the wolf pack decided to embarrass him about his “obsessive inner monologue” as Embry called it. Their energy was drastically different from the Cullens. The wolves all piled out of the door as if all four of them could fit through at once, and even skipped the stairs.
“I wish Bella would call,” Paul teased, shaking Jacob’s shoulder
“I wish Bella wouldn’t call,” Jared added
“Maybe I should call Bella,” Embry said
“Maybe I should call Bella and hAng up!” Quil finished
The pack laughed like hyenas until Leah stormed out. Needless to say, she wasn’t pleased to see Bella at all. With that, She phased and disappeared off into the forest. Bella tried her best to be friendly with Leah. After all, she’d never even met the first ever female shape-shifter. Though her attempt had failed upon hearing that Jacobs thoughts about Bella were “torturing” him.
After greeting the entire wolf pack, Jacob and Bella made their way to his garage. As they were walking, Jacob explained to her that Leah was the first woman ever to shift and that her brother shifted as well. He was eighteen.
“Does he not hang out with the rest of you?” Bella asked him, referring to the pack. She’d seen all of them except for Seth.
“Yeah he does. He’s just out on patrol right now,” Jacob said.
Bella’s brows furrowed in confusion, “Patrol? This early in the day?”
“Yeah theres this other girl that Victoria’s hunting down. Alice told us about it so now we’re standing watch incase she ever comes around. She did though, while you were in Jacksonville,” Jacob explained.
“Wait,” Bella stopped walking and Jacob mimicked her action, “is this that girl that knows about you guys?” Bella asked
“Yeah, why?” Jacob asked
“Edward told me about her... He said she knew about like, you guys and all of the vampire-werewolf thing,” she told him.
“Shapeshifter,” he corrected, “and I haven’t talked to her. I saw her once when my dad was buying beer. She’s been around for a while,” Jacob shrugged.
“We should go meet her,” Bella proposed
Jacob shook his head, “I thought we were gonna hang out?” He he paused, realizing how desperate he could have sounded, “Also, Sam told us not to talk to her I mean— Carlisle also said not to talk to her,”
“You’re gonna listen to Carlisle?” Bella egged.
Jacob sighed, “I mean, it’s Sam’s orders too.”
“I wanna meet her. Let’s go,” she said, “You don’t have to talk to her. I’ll do it.”
“No. We’re not doing that. Seth and Leah will see us then I get in trouble,” Jacob concluded.
“Fine. I’ll find a way later on then,” Bella said, turning around to follow him.
-
Leah arrived next to Seth with a huff, displeased to find him in human form. She was meant to take his place since he’d been on watch for the past hour and a half.
“What?” He asked her, “Nothing‘s happened I mean—” Seth began to explain but was cut off my his older sisters’ growl of disapproval. Seth came to patrol in his human form since there was nothing suspicious going on, though his sister begged to differ, “Fine,” he reluctantly agrred
Seth ran off, phased, then immediately returned. By the time he returned, Kai’s shift ended and Leah was already making her way back to Emily’s. Seth decided to wait between the trees to make sure she was safe before they left.
Kai spotted the two wolves in the forest across the parking lot. One silver wolf making a turn back to where it came from, and the other stayed watching over her. Kai paused after walking out of the store. Should she approach them? After the mental breakdown she had the night before, she decided to put an end to all of their secret watch-overs.
“Hey!” She called out to the two wolves. Leah turned to walk quicker, unaware that Kai knew exactly what and who they were.
“Let her look crazy trying to talk to wolves,” Leah thought out to Seth.
Kai ran into the woods and the wolves had no choice but to watch her. Kai looked Leah straight in the eyes, “I know what you guys are and I know why you’re watching me,” she admitted, “it’s a waste of time, just— can you let me talk to whoever’s leading you? Please,” Kai begged to Leah’s wolf form, Seth trailing behind her.
With a gruff, Leah nodded, despite hearing Seth freak out a little bit through his thoughts. She led the way to Emily’s house that was a ten minute walk from the store. The wolves clearly had an easy time climbing over uneven rocks. Kai however made the levels look dramatic, Seth laughed in his head. Her legs were just so... short. Leah was getting tired of it and told him to shut up multiple times, but he couldn’t. It was almost like watching a kid because of her stockier limbs.
“She’s older than you,” Leah reminded him.
“But definitely smaller,” Seth teased.
Leah nodded over to Emily’s house then left with Seth to phase back into their human forms. Kai thanked her and walked up to the house nervously.
Sure, she could say her knees were shaking from having to take gigantic steps over multiple rocks, but the truth was she was scared out of her mind. The wolves were taller than her, and she had no doubt their size would correlate in human form. After all, it was all the fans would gush about back when Twilight was super popular— Taylor Lautner’s ripped af body.
A tall man with a gruff voice and the tribal tattoo opened the door. It was the same exact man that stopped her from jumping off the cliff.
What was his name— ”Oh.. Hi Sam.” She greeted awkwardly
“Hi, is there something I can do for you?” He asked her, his voice rumbling deeply. It was intimidating for her.
“Yeah um...” she didn’t think he remembered her at all. In fact, she wasn’t even sure that he’d stood watch over her store before. Did he still think she was Jessica?
Paul appeared behind him, curious to see who was at the door. His eyebrows raised when he caught his Alpha doing exactly what they were told not to do.
Pauls’ eyes narrowed, “I thought we weren’t supposed to talk to her,” he said accusingly.
Sam turned around, shock on his face as he realized who the girl was. Her face was familiar as he tried to figure out from where. He’d heard about her and the wolves who have seen her on patrol knew who Kai was, but Sam thought he was talking to a girl named Jessica.
“I’m not Jessica... I lied about that whole thing. My name is actually Kaileia... um— I just wanted to ask if you guys could stop keeping watch outside of the store,” she asked him timidly
Sam huffed, “Who led you here? How do you know who we are?”
“I can’t answer that... I’m sorry. But one of the wolves led me here only because I asked them to,” she said in a small voice.
“Sam, come on. You’re scaring her,” a gentle voice said behind him. She cleared a path for you to come in, “want a muffin?” She offered.
Kaileia decided to take the risk and stepped inside. Seemingly at once, three heads snapped in her direction. She didn’t remember any of their names and it’s most likely “because they didn’t get enough screen time” she thought.
She didn’t reach for a muffin, she just stepped inside because she felt it would be better to explain it all at once. Sam began to question her again,
“How do you know about us? And what we are?” Sam asked.
“I really can’t tell you that. I just know,” Kaileia tried to explain.
“Why do you want us to stop keeping watch, then?” Kai was sure he didn’t mean to sound rude, but his deep Alpha voice just changed his intentional tone.
“I had a... meeting with the Cullens yesterday. I don’t know if Carlisle told you, but keeping ties with me could cause a life. It could cause multiple. I don’t want that for you guys, I’m just trying to protect everyone,” she explained truthfully, her voice unwavering.
“How is watching over you gonna kill one of us?” Paul asked her
She shook her head, “I can’t tell you that either—”
“Look, we’re watching over you because we want to uphold the treaty and make sure Victoria doesn’t suck the blood out of anyone on our land,” Sam said authoritatively.
Kai sighed. It seemed like the only solution is to move out of Forks. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t have the money to find a new house.
“What can I do to stop you guys from watching over me?” Kai asked to Sam
“Don’t work in La Push,” Paul answered for him with a nonchalant shrug.
Kai’s brows furrowed in frustration. He wasn’t the alpha, why was he speaking for Sam? She turned to him, face crinkled in distaste, “Was I even talking to you?” She asked him sassily, “You’re not in charge here.”
It didn’t hit a nerve for him to phase on the spot, but it did irritate him that she had to guts to talk to him like that, especially after how timidly she spoke to Sam. He felt like he wanted to prove something, that he could be more intimidating over her than Sam. Their Alpha was one step ahead of Paul’s thoughts.
“Paul.” Sam warned.
Paul said nothing, but shared a glance to Embry. Embry shrugged knowingly. “Alpha’s orders get obeyed weather you want them to or not.”
As if on cue, Jacob, Bella, Leah and Seth walked in. Kai ignored it at first, keeping eye contact with Sam and asked him again, “is there really anything I can do so that you guys won’t keep watch anymore?” She asked sincerely.
“You’re the girl that knows about all this?” Bella asked behind her. She sighed inwardly, not ready to talk with another character and mess things up any more. She turned to face Bella reluctantly. In reply, she gave Bella a quick nod.
“What’s happening here?” Jacob asked, eyes darting to the pack, to Sam and to Kai.
“I really need you guys to stop keeping watch,” Kai implored, eyes begging Jacob then to the other pack members for them to speak up and agree with her, but looked to her feet, defeated when she realized they were going to keep up with Sam’s orders only.
She locked eyes with Jacob, Paul, Embry, Quil, Leah and lastly, Seth, but received no support from any of the wolves. Seths eyes lingered onto hers, his eyes sinking deeper into her irises and he suddenly gripped the chair next to him to keep from falling. The pack members’ eyes snapped to Seths’ sudden loss of control as shock written faces adorned all of them. Despite seeing her the past two patrol duties, Seth’s eyes never met hers at the very same time until now. A smirk was plastered onto Pauls’ face and Embry dramatically gave him slow claps in celebration.
Seth looked like he was daydreaming, but he felt nothing but air beneath his feet. He was infatuated with her. Auburn tinted scenarios of their life’s possibilities together flashed through his mind in waves. He was weightless, ecstatic that he found his other half. Nothing mattered. Nothing but her love, her safety and her well-being. Seth was frozen with a numb look on his face and unwavering eye contact with Kai.
Despite not even knowing her name, Kaileia suddenly became the only thing that mattered to him. Everyone else became secondary.
Paul smirked knowingly, “Nah. I don’t think we’ll be able to stop keeping watch,” he said in a playful tone, “especially with this one now.”
Kai looked at Paul, then at Sam for an explanation, “What’s going on?”
Leah rolled her eyes, “God, damn it,” she cursed. She stormed out of the house in frustration. It felt to her like everyone was meant to be happy except herself.
“How do you know literally,” Embry paused, swallowing a bit of his muffin, “everything that’s going on, but you don’t know what that was,” he snickered.
Jacob was stoic. The newest member of the pack had imprinted. It was something he was envious of since he’d been a wolf for a full year and nothing like that had ever happened.
“Seth imprinted,” Sam told Kai gently.
Kai’s eyes widened, “Oh no, no, no, no,” she shook her head, waving her hands in frenzy, “you gotta take that back bro.”
Seth finally snapped out of his daze, “I— I can’t take that back...” he told her, almost sounding shameful even if the imprint was completely involuntary.
Kai suddenly felt guilty about rejecting him, but she knew it had to be done.
“I’m not trying to be mean but,” she sighed, “I’m saying this because I care about how things will end.”
“What do you mean?” Seth asked her
“I mean you die at the end of Breaking Dawn pt. 2 dammit ur pure soul” kai thought.
“It’s what I’ve been trying to say. It could mean death for a lot of people,” Kai explained exasperatedly.
“Look,” Bella started, “Whatever you were trying to save, it’s kinda too late for that.”
“Thats what Alice told me yesterday.”
“We’ll let you two talk,” Sam said, signaling their audience to leave the living space to the two of them.
They stood in front of each other awkwardly. Kai decided to take a seat and Seth did the same. It was still awkward, but a little less awkward.
“So um...” Seth started, “I never asked, but what’s your name?”
“Kaileia... Kaileia Mahelona,” she answered, “yours?”
“Seth Clearwater,” he answered. She knew, but it was better to make the conversation feel less... invasive by revealing that she knew all about him. She felt at home. Maybe it was the way Emily’s house was set up: wooden furniture, native designs and cozy cushions, or it was Seth. His tan skin and dark hair like hers, but his skin was more like the sunset. A tinge of a bright orange underneath the tan, his eyes turned to crescents when he smiled a tight lipped smile, his earth colored irises occupying more space than the white in his eyes. Everything about him just drew her in, and she wondered— why was this character so undermined by everyone else.
That’s all she was to him, though. He was just a character. A character she was trying to save. That’s why it was imperative that he understood they couldn’t form any real relationship.
“Seth,” she inhaled, preparing herself to break the news to him, “theres a lot on the line right now I mean— this really isn’t supposed to happen.”
Seth looked down in dismay. His brows knitted together toward his forehead and it looked like a cloud rained over him specifically as his head hung down regretfully.
“Is it too much?” He asked her, “I can give you some time if you want.”
“It’s not that its just—” she searched for the words that weren’t coming to her, “How do I say this?” She whispered to herself, “I care about you. But I have a lot of... baggage. And I won’t be here forever. I’m only here until—” she stopped herself from revealing the ending of the series
“Until when?” He asked her, pain still in his eyes.
“Thats another thing, um, there’s a lot I can’t tell you,” she said regretfully.
“That’s fine,” Seth said, “I get it. I really do,” he said in genuine understanding, “This doesn’t have to be what Sam and Emily have. We could just be friends. And– honestly– I’m just here for you if you ever need me... but asking me to stay away is kind of different,” he paused. Kai listened intently, “It would hurt me a lot knowing that you want nothing to do with me but, if it’s what you want, then I can stay away for you too,” Seth concluded.
Kai was perplexed. The two sat in silence, thoughts running wild. Kaileia contemplated the risks as one side of her told her to reject him and keep everyone safe, but another part wanted to say “fuck it” and indulge in a life with him. She missed having someone on her side like her old friend, Miko. It’d been a while since someone was there for her the way Miko was. At this thought, Kai’s expression clouded immediately.
“What’s wrong?” Seth asked her, concern seemed to fill his entire being.
“It’s just– you mentioned we could be friends right?” She asked, Seth nodded, “It reminded me of an old friend of mine... I never see her anymore but I haven’t had someone around like that in a while.”
Seth gave her a sad smile. He offered her all the options earlier and didn’t want to repeat himself. He felt that if he did, it would have felt like he was pushing the relationship. Nonetheless, he was hopeful that she would want some type of relationship with him, whether it be friends or more. All he wanted for her was to be happy, no matter what it was. Though, admittedly, he would feel ecstatic to know that she would want a life with him too, but he would also accept her rejection. He mentally prepared himself if it was to come— it would eat him from the inside out.
-
“What did she mean by ‘I’m not Jessica’?” Emily asked him.
“Do you remember that girl all those months ago that was gonna jump off the cliff?” Everyone in the room nodded, Bella’s eyebrows raised in surprise. It was the first time she heard about any of this.
“That was her. She gave me a fake name, I guess. She also told me she would only be here for a week and she was visiting family,” he paused, ”she was supposed to leave the day after.”
“I thought she lived here,” Jared said
“She does, stupid,” Embry teased. Jared mimicked his sentence in a childish tone.
“That’s what we’re trying to figure out,” Embry finished.
Paul huffed, “The only logical explanation is that she lied to you,” he shrugged, eyes pointed towards Sam, “Cuz she probably already knew who you were and didn’t wanna say anything else to you.”
“Is anyone else not like, baffled? She knows everything about us. She walked up to Seth and Leah while they were in wolf form!” Jacob exclaimed and Bella placed a calming hand on his shoulder.
Embry and Quil nodded, “Yeah. She won’t tell us anything, though,” Quil said.
Sam sighed but quickly got back to his own subject since he had no other explanation for Jacob, “I don’t think she ended up on that specific cliff by accident. She probably lied about that too.”
“You think she was gonna try to kill herself?” Bella asked
Sam pressed his lips in a tight line, “possibly.”

By The Cliffs (Ch 2/?)
Paul Lahote x Female Reader
Prev. Chapter
Wattpad I AO3
Rating: Teen+ (for Swearing)
Word Count: 1000
Summary: It was supposed to be a vacation.

I am starving.
"We're aware. You've mentioned it one-thousand times now," Jacob grumbles. He snaps his teeth at me as he flies by.
"Let's finish up patrol. Emily's got dinner ready," Sam's voice fills my head.
Catching up to Jake, I growl, tackling him to the ground for the hell of it, "You're gonna hear it a thousand times more, Black. Deal with it."
We wrestle briefly, and I get a few good bites in before Sam breaks up the fun with a harsh "Knock it off!" in his Alpha voice.
We separate at once, unable to disobey our Alpha's command.
"Act like adults," he growls at the two of us, "I don't want to be out all night because you two can't take patrol seriously."
"Yeah, Jake. Act like an adult."
Jacob flashes his teeth, "Well, isn't that the kettle calling the pot black."
I chuckle, "Close enough."
"God, you're annoying!" Jacob laughs, running off in front of me.
"I try my best!" I chase after him, snapping at his tail.
The wind blows through my fur as the three of us race through the woods. These were the moments I lived for, the super-speed running, being with my brothers, and complete blissful freedom. As we grow closer to Sam and Emily's house, an unfamiliar scent overwhelms my senses.
"What's that smell?" I speak without thinking.
"What smell? Smells like barbeque to me."
"Barbeque? Have I ever told you I love Emily?" Jacob jokes.
"Must be the food..." I trail off, ignoring Sam's sharp reply to Jacob, too hypnotized by the smell to care about their spat over Emily.
We phase back at the edge of the tree-line, Jacob and Sam talking about some truck Jake bought.
"--I just bought it last week. It drives pretty good; I was surprised. Really only needs a tune-up and--"
I can't pay attention, half because I don't care about the newest truck he's fixing up, half because I'm curious about the fragrance. It never smelled different around here; I wasn't sure I liked the change.
Jacob pushes me, "What's got you all... quiet for once?"
I brush him off, trying to scowl convincingly, "Nothing. Just hungry." Yeah, that's convincing enough. They seem to buy it, and I try to blend into their pre-dinner roughhousing.
Our laughter stops as Quill and Embry exit the front door, meeting us halfway across the yard.
"What's up with you two?" Jacob asks, crossing his arms over his chest.
They glance at each other before Embry drops the bomb, "There's something we have to warn you guys about before you go inside."

  "Listen, we--"
Embry stops me, "No, no. This is all you, Quil. I was an unfortunate bystander sucked into your idiotic decisions."
"Fine," I roll my eyes, "We brought a girl here."
"You did what?" Paul snarls. Sam puts his hand up to stop him from getting in my face.
"What do you mean you brought a girl here?" Sam says sternly, "You know that isn't allowed."
Embry steps into the conversation, "We caused her to fall and hit her head. On accident."
"Why didn't you leave her--"
I can't help the disgusted laugh that leaves me. Leave it to Paul to act like a heartless jerk.
"Do you really think we should've left her there in the middle of the woods?" I ask, already knowing what he's going to say.
"Yes!" Paul screams back, "She wasn't your problem! How stupid are you two?"
Embry shakes his head, "We weren't going to leave the girl in the middle of the woods, Paul. She was hurt, and it was our fault."
Paul inhales sharply, the shaking of his shoulders familiar to all of those who know him.
"There's no need to wolf out, Paul," Jacob rolls his eyes, looking annoyed.
Of course, this is exactly what pushes Paul right over the edge of anger into rage. The clothes on his body explode into fabric ribbons as the wolf overcomes the man.
"What the fuck!" A woman's voice yells over the commotion. All eyes look over at her, including Paul's.

The rage that had previously boiled in my chest extinguished into nothingness as my eyes trained on her.
Her.
A new boiling replaces the rage. No, it couldn't be described as boiling. Boiling sounded harsh; whatever this was was warm like sunlight. Dazzling, the kind of warmth you wanted to bask in forever.
The feeling I would bask in forever if she'd let me. I had to tell her and explain that everything that was me was reaching out to her. Would always reach out to her. She was the center of my universe, the only thing to keep me grounded for however long I lived.
"For fucks sake!" Jacob screams through my thoughts, our telepathic connection telling him everything he needed to know about the situation, "A second ago, you didn't care if they'd left her in the forest; now you're imprinting on her?"
Quil's delighted thoughts ring through next, "Oh hell ya! See, you're happy now, aren't you? You're welcome, Paulie."
"Shut up!" I snap, gnashing my teeth at the two. I hated that nickname, and I hated that they could see and feel everything I'd just experienced. That moment should be mine and mine alone.
"What're you gonna do, loverboy?" I hear the teasing in Jacob's thoughts.
I growl, "I'm going to get some fucking pants so I can talk to her without freaking her out anymore than I already have."
I watch as my imprint sprints back into the house and listen to her yells of panic, warning Emily of what is happening outside.
The big bad wolves.
"Good plan!" Quil does a little hop, his tail wagging like a brain-dead dog, "I don't think she's taking the wolf thing so well. Probably, shouldn't try to talk to her butt naked. At least not right away."
"Do you ever shut up?" I snap at him again, chasing as he disappears into the brush.
