Erikson Rosairo li Fiorenobila, Crown Prince of Camellia

Firstborn of three children, Erikson is more often called simply 'Erik’. When Erik was born, he did not open his eyes for days on end, & with his clearly red hair, the Camellian Court worried that their Crown Prince was born with none of his mother’s features. When the young crown prince finally opened his eyes, disappoint filled the court to see the red garnet eyes of his father, as they wanted Erikson to have the clear royal blue eyes of his mother. Despite this, he was considered a very cute child in his youth. As he aged, he proved to be very intelligent, taking to math & science quite quickly, excelling in history & foreign history, he was also the first of his siblings to take on four years of the Mandatory Aristocratic Military Program, rather then the minimum two years(which would later be followed by Rosamarie in her adult years). Erik always proved to have his father's temper as a young man, & despite receiving displace training during his military service years, it was a problem that kept plaguing him afterward. Erik is a passionate man of both love & hate, & does desire the best for Camellia as it's future king.

Aitanna Rosevere li Fiorenobila, Princess of Camellia

The secondborn of three children, & often called ‘Aita’ by her family. Aitanna was born the striking image of her mother, as such the Camellian Court wanted the royal couple to name this daughter after her Queen Mother. While Ann originally didn’t want to, it was Tyler who suggested the name Aitanna, a form of the Queen’s name, but not exactly her name, so their daughter could still be her own person. The unique name charmed the Queen & she agreed to the name. It was soon showed that Aita inhered more then just the Queen’s looks, as she was a skilled musician that delighted in teas, she also held her father’s skill in poetry & was a surprisingly wonderous painter. For all these artistic talents, she was called the ‘Art Princess’ & was certainly the most beloved princess by the Camellian Court. She plays key roles in forming diplomatic relationships with other kingdoms, including even in Agrazia, the only republic nation in the world.

Rosamarie Amalia li Fiorenobila, Princess of Camellia

The last of three children, Rosamarie was referred to as ‘Rosa’. Queen Ann’s pregnancy with Rosa was undoubtably her most difficult. Much of the court was hoping the Queen would have a another son & one with her features, but were dismayed when their child turn out to be a another girl, & with bright red hair like her father’s. Despite such, Rosa clearly had a more boy-ish personality, as she delighted in playing sports & learning to wield weapons. Rosamarie was noted to be strong enough to lift longswords, despite not even being at teenage age. While these abilities horrified the Camellian court, as this was not the expected behaviors of a princess, her family, & in particular, Ann’s Queen’s Blades knight, & her older brother Erikson, delighted in her swordplay.

Li Guìzúzhīhuā Xǔ Méiguī, 1st Princess of Camellia

1st Princess of the Empire of Camellia, the first & only child of Empress Li Guìzúzhīhuā Ai Song & Prince Consort Li Guìzúzhīhu�� Tyler, & the current standing heir to the throne. Her names means ‘May Rose’ in honor of the Empress’s mother, who was also a European, like Tyler. The long, long awaited child of the empire was only seen as a disappointment to the court, as they long desired a prince rather then another princess. Despite this all, her adorable charms & unmistakable matching appearance to her mother, Xu Meigui is very beloved by the royal family, with her aunt Sun Fang being her sworn protector, as well as the royal advisor.

Daniella Rosavy li Fiorenobila, Crown Princess of Camellia

Firstborn of five children & the first daughter, heir to the Camellian Throne. Daniella was the long awaited heir that Camellia had been waiting for, as it took Queen Ann a long time to become pregnant. Originally, the Camellia court was disappointed that the Queen & Prince Consort’s firstborn looked more like Akihito then Ann, & was at times mocked by the aristocrats for ‘looking like a low-born’ rather then their Queen. This fostered some anger in Daniella’s heart, as she strived to become better then all of the other aristocrats in any way she could. From her military training(which she also choose 4 years of like her mother & choose to train in the air force branch), to what she wears & even what she eats. She was quite the business savvy woman, excelling with finances, she soon acquired a large sum of personal finances from broker many business deals, including one with the wealthy Arther Brock Bexley, effectively making her the new richest person in Camellia. With her wealth, she developed a a very expensive taste in all things, delighted in social gatherings & other events where she could be the center of attention & adopted a moniker ‘If I do not own it, I shall not wear it’, which she followed to the letter, never once wearing any of the Camellian Crown Jewels, since they belonged to the state & not the royal family. At some point, she had brought a jaguar as a pet, whom she named Vein, it’s believed she had done this to mirror her aunt that she looks up too greatly, Empress Suzanne Ying de’Lareryth Heart, whom also had an ‘exotic’ pet.

Eric Felixshi li Fiorenobila, Prince of Camellia

Secondborn of five children & the first son, the spare of the Camellia line of succession. As Prince of Camellia, the court was once again disappointed that Eric was born looking more like the Prince Consort rather then the Queen, however, because he had icy blue eyes that came from Ann, he did not receive the same amount mocking as his older sister. Unlike his sister Daniella, Eric quickly learn to pay no attention to the words of others & cared only for that of his own opinion, turning him into a stoic & quiet type of man that preferred to be alone rather then attend balls & galas. Like his sister, he threw himself into his military career when it was his turn to take part in the Mandatory Aristocratic Military Program, going for 4 years & choosing the navy branch like his mother did. As such, he is an outstanding military commander & has his eyes set on becoming the Lord Commander of the Camellia Military.

Jeremy Brimestone li Fiorenobila, Earl of Camellia

Thirdborn of five children, the second son & the first of a group of fraternal triplets. After having a son & a daughter, Queen Ann & Prince Consort Akihito decided they would try one last time for a child, as the urging of the Camellian Court, who did not want the line of succession to be left to only two children again. This final pregnancy would almost be the death of the Queen, as the burden of carrying triplets on her fragile body was heavy. Jeremy was the first to leave his mother, & a delight to the court, as Ann & Aki finally had a child with the Queen’s brown hair. Jeremy, as a young boy, enjoyed sporting activates of all kinds, as well as being outdoors in general & was considered extremally handsome by his peers. Noble ladies were have said to have lined up to dance with the young prince the day of his debut into the social season & he was known to be a social butterfly. However, Jeremy lost his ability to walk after an incident on horse back, where his steed was spooked by a snake & threw the young prince from it, His awkward landing broke & disfigured his legs, leaving him wheelchair bound the rest of his life. Since the incident, he has surrendered his place in the line of succession to Camellia’s throne, losing his title of prince & being an earl very early in his life. After his incident, he threw himself into the arts & writing, becoming a skilled drawer & publishing many books with his own illustrations in them under the pen name of ‘Mr. Brimestone’. His disability also did not stop Jeremy from having a political career, in which he was the one to pave the way for additional rights for disabled people, & funded the creation across the kingdom to make more places wheelchair assessable.

Annalisa Rosewood li Fiorenobila, Princess of Camellia

Fourthborn of five children, the second daughter & second of a group of fraternal triplets. Also called simply ‘Lisa’, the second of the triplets was easily the one of all of Queen Ann & Prince Consort Akihito’s children that looked the most like Ann, as such, she was named after her mother & was the favorite royal child of the entire Camellian court. She could sing & dance to perfection, including ballet, her grandmother’s art, & was known to be an excellent violinist. She was also the only royal child that could cook & clean up after herself, & often went to the royal kitchen near teatime hours to begin preparing that days tea & snacks herself. Lisa was also noted to have a very friendly relationship with her oldest sister’s favorite business partner, Arther Brock Bexley & it’s believed she may have a crush on the wealthy sire.

The last of five children, third daughter & the third of a group of fraternal triplets. Blair was the smallest of all of the triplets, but certainly the loudest, as her cries from when she was born could be heard from eight rooms away by staff. She was a troublesome child, that was always up to something naughty or forbidden of her. Thankfully, when she got older, she calmed down & became a bit more reserved, but was still known for her loud voice when she spoke. Like Eric & Daniella, Blair too was often mocked by the court for having her father’s dark hair, but the youngest princess was known for snapping back at those who mocked her, even sometimes including the use for vulgar language & curse words. For her quick & sharp wit, Blair was called ‘The Tiny Terror’, a title she wore with pride. Blair was known for being a avid reader, even in her days as a child, & funded the building of many libraries across Camellia, including no less then at least two children’s libraries & three public libraries. Blair also took an interest in the medical field, studying to become a doctor & took the reigns in improving healthcare in Camellia.

Rosalyn Daphne li Fiorenobila, Crown Princess of Camellia

Firstborn of four children & the oldest daughter, heir to the crown of Camellia. Queen Ann actually got pregnant with Rosalyn quite early into her marriage with Prince Consort Bowen, a surprise to the Queen, as she thought she would be like her mother & have a hard time getting pregnant. While originally upset that the heir of the kingdom had blonde hair, the Camellian court was at least delighted to see the child had blue eyes like her mother. Given a combined name of the Queen & Prince Consort’s mothers(’Rosa’ being from Queen Rosa & ‘lyn’ being from Carolyn) for her first name & Queen Ann’s grandmother’s name for her middle name, many hopes had been placed onto Rosalyn Daphne’s shoulders. Noble & graceful, Rosalyn is the picture of royal elegance, etiquette & beauty. An excellent dancer, writer, tennis player & negotiator, with a great deal of political savvy, she is considered the true ‘middle ground’ when it comes to debates between the nobility & the commonfolk, as she strives to understand both sides & select the best possible outcome.

Thirdborn of four children, & the middle daughter. Annika was the child born the most looking nearly identical to Queen Ann, yet acted the least like her. Annika, while delighting in teas like her mother, was heavily invested in the railroads, even from her earliest years, where she requested to have toy trains instead of toy dolls. This dismayed the Camellian court, who wanted a gentle, soft-spoken princess, just like her mother. Annika was also born with a generous amount of mana within her, gifting her an impressive magical talent, which she had many of her studies were changed to focus on.

The last of four children & the youngest daughter. Born, again, with blonde hair, the Camellian court was upset that the final child of Queen Ann & Prince Consort Bowen’s had another head of blonde locks. Despite this, she was noted to be a very cute & brilliant child. Bella was able to start learning difficult subjects, like foreign history, at a very early age, & had excellent speech patterns. She found an early love in her mother’s own love of tea, & also picked up learning about them from the Queen, including hand preparing tea to impress other young children like her in court. Being so intelligent, there’s high hopes for Bella currently in the court as her skills develop.

Genevieve Marirosa Lorelei Chuuno, Crown Princess of Avalon

The sole child of Queen Ann & King Bowen, & sole heir to the throne of Avalon. A long awaited child that Avalon fell in love with, she was given an unusually long name for both Avalon & Camellian royalty, to greatly honor their long & hard tried for, & only, beloved child. The striking image of her father, with his same love for railroad & steam, with her mother’s gentle heart & same love for teas & delight in socializing, Genevieve is often seen as the ideal picture of royal perfection. For her young age, Genevieve seems to be quite intelligent, learning history & foreign history quickly, as well as money handling, she is also socially intelligent, capable of understanding a person's personality & nature & adapting her behavior accordingly.

That Lily post you reblogged has me thinking, and it’s honestly kind of insane how categorically bad almost all of the parents on Gossip Girl are, even the ones we’re supposed to like!! If we take all of the various anecdotes from Serena and Eric seriously, then Lily - despite otherwise being an enjoyable character - is nothing short of a negligent parent. And variations of the same can be said for most of the other parents with significant storylines!

Like, as much as the show tries to gloss over it later on, Eleanor’s casual cruelty towards Blair and the seemingly intentional provocation of her bulimia despite KNOWING how severe it was throughout season one was actually genuinely awful. Harold, while more sympathetic given his backstory, still chose to relinquish primary custody of his daughter to move halfway across the world and barely see her, even though she was a 15 year old struggling with a serious mental illness. Alison, despite being oddly beloved in this corner of the fandom, is honestly just as bad - she too fucks off except with the added pretense of it being a temporary separation, and then makes little effort to maintain any contact with her kids outside of holidays, leaving Rufus to effectively single parent. And Rufus, despite being the most involved and least “objectionable” parent on the show, still consistently treats his son significantly better than his daughter, to the degree that said daughter at one point muses that her dad “basically hates her” and seems to believe it.

And that’s without getting into William van der Woodsen, Bart Bass, or the Archibalds, who were actual villains!!! Like it’s no wonder that all of the kids grew into fucked up adults when that was the standard of better parenting on the show.

i originally wrote that i had very little to add but then all of this happened! lmao. but still: you're spot on, anon.

one thing i will say is that wrt alison - she does get quite a bit of leeway in this corner of the fandom, hm? i'm not saying that i hate her or that i think she's as bad, as, say, bart bass (but literally who is), but i think what gets me most about her is that she leaves and upon briefly returning, doesn't let there be any space for the fact that the lives of her children have changed while she's been gone. when jenny tells alison she would have been able to go if she wasn't here, it may come off a little bratty, but it's not hard to sympathize with for me. because she's not wrong! her mom has been gone and now that she's back she's supposed to not have changed at all or stop caring about the things she cares about? (note: i know allison was upset about jenny missing her art show for the debutante ball, but it seems like it speaks to a larger issue of allison not liking who jenny has started to become while she's been gone... even though she's the one that left and jenny's allowed to have interests that deviate from hers.) i think the reason alison gets more grace from some parts of the fandom is that we see way less of her than most of the other parents, so there's room to imagine she's a Perfect Mom (TM) whenever jenny and dan go visit her on the weekends or holidays or when jenny leaves for hudson. but i doubt that's the case. (nor should it be! no one's perfect and i tend to prefer characters who are more complicated than that. but the idea that she's this flawless ideal of a parental figure seems... strange, to me.)

there's something really interesting about the lines being drawn between who the 'good' and 'bad' parents are. because I fully believe that lily and eleanor are on a pretty similar level to the archibalds, yet the narrative turns more in their favor. we still see their bad sides but we get their perspectives more and are Supposed to sympathize with them to some degree. the show never quite shies away from lily's negligence (the way it does from being consistent about eleanor's emotional abuse toward blair tbh), but it also never fully condemns her for it. the narrative wants us to forgive her, i think, in a way that it doesn't really care if we forgive, say anne. there are absolutely parents that are designated firmly in the villain category (#mafia boss burt bass circa season 6), but none of them come out looking to be shining examples of heroes either.

i think the show WANTS rufus to look that way but he just... doesn't. i don't hate him or think he's an absolute monster, but it's incredibly frustrating for him to get put on a pedestal (more by the fandom than the show itself, i'd say, though it depends on the circles you run in). a thought i had when i was trying to wrangle my thoughts in response to this ask jdjsjsjs was that... idk it almost seems like, prior to season one, rufus was used to getting to be The Fun Parent? and part of what alison leaving triggers is him having to figure out how to have a more authoritative role in his children's lives while still showing his care for them. and he gets a lot of that wrong! which makes sense. i think that when you're not used to being the authority and you start to try, you might hold on too tight and be harsher than you mean to be at first. which is what he does! especially with jenny. and that makes sense! i don't have a problem with that in and of itself - it's that it doesn't really get better? he refuses to see jenny's point of view throughout every conflict they have and never really tries to have empathy for her struggling to find her role in the ues (despite insisting, according to the pilot, that the only way both his children will be succesful is going to private school) or for her dreams of being a designer. it's hard not to chalk up his often controlling and judgmental attitude toward jenny as misogny (on his part, maybe, on the writers' part, definitely) because he DOES tend to make more) because he does tend to give dan more grace. but if I'M trying to show any grace, i think part of it likely stems from insecurities and fears from his own musical aspirations - he knows what it cost him and that he's not considered much more than a washed-up musician at this point, that he had to choose between his family and his music and he's chosen them, full stop. he knows dan is passionate about writing, but dan's more cautious, more hesitant, less sure of his craft or how much value he puts on it over everything else. (there are multiple story arcs about this!) i think jenny scares him a lot more because she's burning with pure ambition. she's not hesitant or unsure about it; she knows what she wants and she's going to risk whatever she needs to get it. i think i would be remiss to act like that doesn't play some role in how suffocating their relationship becomes.

Rosamarie Amalia Li, Crown Princess of Camellia

Firstborn of three daughters, Rosamarie is more often called by ‘Marie’ to avoid confusion with her youngest sister, Rosalynn. When Marie was born, she did not open her eyes for days on end, & with her clearly ginger hair, the Camellian Court worried that their Crown Princess was born with none of her mother’s features. When the young crown princess finally opened her eyes, & they saw they were a pale sky blue, while some were relived, others were disappointed, as they wanted Rosamarie to have the clear royal blue eyes of her mother. Despite this, she was considered a very cute child in her youth. As she aged, she proved to be very intelligent, taking to math & science quite quickly, excelling in history & foreign history, she was also the first of her siblings to take on four years of the Mandatory Aristocratic Military Program, rather then the minimum two years(which would later be followed by Rosalynn in her adult years). Marie was always preferred living a quiet life, as apposed to the dashing court social life that other Camellian aristocrats enjoyed, & while she made a few appears at balls & galas, she spent most of her time either in her room, or at her mother’s hamlet & farm in the royal gardens, where she tended to her mother’s animals on her own.

Aitanna Tamber Li, Princess of Camellia

The secondborn of three daughters, & often called ‘Aita’ by her family. Aitanna was born the striking image of her mother, as such the Camellian Court wanted the royal couple to name this daughter after her Queen Mother. While Ann originally didn’t want to, it was Tyler who suggested the name Aitanna, a form of the Queen’s name, but not exactly her name, so their daughter could still be her own person. The unique name charmed the Queen & she agreed to the name. It was soon showed that Aita inhered more then just the Queen’s looks, as she was a skilled musician that delighted in teas, she also held her father’s skill in poetry & was a surprisingly wonderous painter. For all these artistic talents, she was called the ‘Art Princess’ & was certainly the most beloved princess by the Camellian Court. She plays key roles in forming diplomatic relationships with other kingdoms, including even in Agrazia, the only republic nation in the world.

The last of three daughters, Rosalynn was referred to as ‘Lynn’ to avoid confusion with her oldest sister, Rosamarie. Queen Ann’s pregnancy with Lynn was undoubtably her most difficult. Much of the court was hoping, this time, the Queen would have a son, but were dismayed when their child turn out to be a another girl, & with bright red hair like her father’s. Despite such, Lynn clearly had a more boy-ish personality, as she delighted in playing sports & learning to wield weapons. Rosalynn was noted to be strong enough to lift longswords, despite not even being at teenage age. While these abilities horrified the Camellian court, as this was not the expected behaviors of a princess, her family, & in particular, Ann’s Queen’s Blades knight, delighted in her swordplay.

Xǔ Méiguī Li, 1st Princess of Camellia

1st Princess of the Empire of Camellia, the first & only child of Empress Ai Song Li & Prince Consort Tyler Li, & the current standing heir to the throne. Her names means ‘May Rose’ in honor of the Empress’s mother, who was also a European, like Tyler. The long, long awaited child of the empire was only seen as a disappointment to the court, as they long desired a prince rather then another princess. Despite this all, her adorable charms & unmistakable matching appearance to her mother, Xu Meigui is very beloved by the royal family, with her aunt Sun Fang being her sworn protector, as well as the royal advisor.

Daniella Rosavy Li, Crown Princess of Camellia

Firstborn of five children & the first daughter, heir to the Camellian Throne. Daniella was the long awaited heir that Camellia had been waiting for, as it took Queen Ann a long time to become pregnant. Originally, the Camellia court was disappointed that the Queen & Prince Consort’s firstborn looked more like Akihito then Ann, & was at times mocked by the aristocrats for ‘looking like a low-born’ rather then their Queen. This fostered some anger in Daniella’s heart, as she strived to become better then all of the other aristocrats in any way she could. From her military training(which she also choose 4 years of like her mother & choose to train in the air force branch), to what she wears & even what she eats. She was quite the business savvy woman, excelling with finances, she soon acquired a large sum of personal finances from broker many business deals, including one with the wealthy Arther Brock Bexley, effectively making her the new richest person in Camellia. With her wealth, she developed a a very expensive taste in all things, delighted in social gatherings & other events where she could be the center of attention & adopted a moniker ‘If I do not own it, I shall not wear it’, which she followed to the letter, never once wearing any of the Camellian Crown Jewels, since they belonged to the state & not the royal family. At some point, she had brought a jaguar as a pet, whom she named Vein, it’s believed she had done this to mirror her aunt that she looks up too greatly, Empress Suzanne Ying De’Lareryth Heart whom also had an ‘exotic’ pet.

Eric Felixshi Li, Prince of Camellia

Secondborn of five children & the first son, the spare of the Camellia line of succession. As Prince of Camellia, the court was once again disappointed that Eric was born looking more like the Prince Consort rather then the Queen, however, because he had icy blue eyes that came from Ann, he did not receive the same amount mocking as his older sister. Unlike his sister Daniella, Eric quickly learn to pay no attention to the words of others & cared only for that of his own opinion, turning him into a stoic & quiet type of man that preferred to be alone rather then attend balls & galas. Like his sister, he threw himself into his military career when it was his turn to take part in the Mandatory Aristocratic Military Program, going for 4 years & choosing the navy branch like his mother did. As such, he is an outstanding military commander & has his eyes set on becoming the Lord Commander of the Camellia Military.

Jeremy Brimestone Li, Earl of Camellia

Thirdborn of five children, the second son & the first of a group of fraternal triplets. After having a son & a daughter, Queen Ann & Prince Consort Akihito decided they would try one last time for a child, as the urging of the Camellian Court, who did not want the line of succession to be left to only two children again. This final pregnancy would almost be the death of the Queen, as the burden of carrying triplets on her fragile body was heavy. Jeremy was the first to leave his mother, & a delight to the court, as Ann & Aki finally had a child with the Queen’s brown hair. Jeremy, as a young boy, enjoyed sporting activates of all kinds, as well as being outdoors in general & was considered extremally handsome by his peers. Noble ladies were have said to have lined up to dance with the young prince the day of his debut into the social season & he was known to be a social butterfly. However, Jeremy lost his ability to walk after an incident on horse back, where his steed was spooked by a snake & threw the young prince from it, His awkward landing broke & disfigured his legs, leaving him wheelchair bound the rest of his life. Since the incident, he has surrendered his place in the line of succession to Camellia’s throne, losing his title of prince & being an earl very early in his life. After his incident, he threw himself into the arts & writing, becoming a skilled drawer & publishing many books with his own illustrations in them under the pen name of ‘Mr. Brimestone’. His disability also did not stop Jeremy from having a political career, in which he was the one to pave the way for additional rights for disabled people, & funded the creation across the kingdom to make more places wheelchair assessable.

Annalisa Rosewood Li, Princess of Camellia

Fourthborn of five children, the second daughter & second of a group of fraternal triplets. Also called simply ‘Lisa’, the second of the triplets was easily the one of all of Queen Ann & Prince Consort Akihito’s children that looked the most like Ann, as such, she was named after her mother & was the favorite royal child of the entire Camellian court. She could sing & dance to perfection, including ballet, her grandmother’s art, & was known to be an excellent violinist. She was also the only royal child that could cook & clean up after herself, & often went to the royal kitchen near teatime hours to begin preparing that days tea & snacks herself. Lisa was also noted to have a very friendly relationship with her oldest sister’s favorite business partner, Arther Brock Bexley & it’s believed she may have a crush on the wealthy sire.

Blair Rosanne Li, Princess of Camellia

The last of five children, third daughter & the third of a group of fraternal triplets. Blair was the smallest of all of the triplets, but certainly the loudest, as her cries from when she was born could be heard from eight rooms away by staff. She was a troublesome child, that was always up to something naughty or forbidden of her. Thankfully, when she got older, she calmed down & became a bit more reserved, but was still known for her loud voice when she spoke. Like Eric & Daniella, Blair too was often mocked by the court for having her father’s dark hair, but the youngest princess was known for snapping back at those who mocked her, even sometimes including the use for vulgar language & curse words. For her quick & sharp wit, Blair was called ‘The Tiny Terror’, a title she wore with pride. Blair was known for being a avid reader, even in her days as a child, & funded the building of many libraries across Camellia, including no less then at least two children’s libraries & three public libraries. Blair also took an interest in the medical field, studying to become a doctor & took the reigns in improving healthcare in Camellia.

Firstborn of four children & the oldest daughter, heir to the crown of Camellia. Queen Ann actually got pregnant with Rosalyn quite early into her marriage with Prince Consort Bowen, a surprise to the Queen, as she thought she would be like her mother & have a hard time getting pregnant. While originally upset that the heir of the kingdom had blonde hair, the Camellian court was at least delighted to see the child had blue eyes like her mother. Given a combined name of the Queen & Prince Consort’s mothers(’Rosa’ being from Queen Rosa & ‘lyn’ being from Carolyn) for her first name & Queen Ann’s grandmother’s name for her middle name, many hopes had been placed onto Rosalyn Daphne’s shoulders. Noble & graceful, Rosalyn is the picture of royal elegance, etiquette & beauty. An excellent dancer, writer, tennis player & negotiator, with a great deal of political savvy, she is considered the true ‘middle ground’ when it comes to debates between the nobility & the commonfolk, as she strives to understand both sides & select the best possible outcome.

Thirdborn of four children, & the middle daughter. Annika was the child born the most looking nearly identical to Queen Ann, yet acted the least like her. Annika, while delighting in teas like her mother, was heavily invested in the railroads, even from her earliest years, where she requested to have toy trains instead of toy dolls. This dismayed the Camellian court, who wanted a gentle, soft-spoken princess, just like her mother. Annika was also born with a generous amount of mana within her, gifting her an impressive magical talent, which she had many of her studies were changed to focus on.

The last of four children & the youngest daughter. Born, again, with blonde hair, the Camellian court was upset that the final child of Queen Ann & Prince Consort Bowen’s had another head of blonde locks. Despite this, she was noted to be a very cute & brilliant child. Bella was able to start learning difficult subjects, like foreign history, at a very early age, & had excellent speech patterns. She found an early love in her mother’s own love of tea, & also picked up learning about them from the Queen, including hand preparing tea to impress other young children like her in court. Being so intelligent, there’s high hopes for Bella currently in the court as her skills develop.

Genevieve Marirosa Lorelei Chuuno, Crown Princess of Avalon

The sole child of Queen Ann & King Bowen, & sole heir to the throne of Avalon. A long awaited child that Avalon fell in love with, she was given an unusually long name for both Avalon & Camellian royalty, to greatly honor their long & hard tried for, & only, beloved child. The striking image of her father, with his same love for railroad & steam, with her mother’s gentle heart & same love for teas & delight in socializing, Genevieve is often seen as the ideal picture of royal perfection. For her young age, Genevieve seems to be quite intelligent, learning history & foreign history quickly, as well as money handling, she is also socially intelligent, capable of understanding a person's personality & nature & adapting her behavior accordingly.

“...so that’s Eric and Jonathan and Jenny and Nathaniel in the east wing, Daniel and Blair and Serena and Vanessa upstairs, and I thought we should put Scott and Natalie in the largest bedroom, since they’re bringing the baby with them.”

“Fine by me,” Rufus says, coming around to set a fresh cup of tea beside Lily’s laptop as she studies the details of their rental in Kauai. “They’re definitely coming? Traveling with a two-year-old is – a lot.” 

“They already RSVP'd,” Lily confirms, lifting her Freddie “Boom Boom” Washington mug to take a sip. “Plus, we’ll all be around, so they should be able to take at least one night off.” 

“True,” Rufus agrees, one of his hands gently kneading her shoulder. 

“So,” she twists her head back to look up at her husband as he peers down at the screen, his own Welcome Back, Kotter mug in hand, “what do you think?”

“Hmmm, I don’t know, Lil,” he muses, “you sure we’ll have enough room?”

“Oh, stop,” she chides as he laughs, dropping into the dining chair next to her and scooting closer. 

“It’ll be great,” he amends, setting a hand on her knee. 

“And this way, every couple will have their own bathroom.”

“That’s smart. Save us from a repeat of the Hot Water Incident of 2016.”

Lily laughs at the joke, but that’s why she chose such an extensive property for this family trip. During their last one in Telluride, Dan and Nate had to physically put themselves between Blair and Jenny. 

“Was that really the last time the whole family was together?” Rufus asks. 

Lily makes a dissenting noise. “Eric’s wedding,” she corrects.

“Oh, that’s right,” Rufus nods, “Nat was pregnant with Dylan.”

(Named after Bob, a fact which they both loved, though Rufus is the only one who’ll admit it). 

“Our numbers have gone up,” Lily says lightly.

“And they’ll keep on going.”

She raises her eyebrows. “Do you know something I don’t know?”

Rufus blinks, puzzled for a second. “Nope, but don’t you think?”

She laughs, tipping her head back. Rufus moves to stretch his arm across the back of her chair, and she settles into it with a sigh, her eyes still on the screen, still displaying all the details of their Hawaiian dream rental. 

“Do you think sometimes maybe we have too many children?” she jokes.

“Maybe,” Rufus props his chin on her shoulder, “but I kind of love it that way.”

She smiles, and reaches up to pat his cheek. “Me too.”

It’s a perfect afternoon in Kauai, though Nate’s not sure there’s any other kind of afternoon here. 

Lily always goes all out for these family trips, and this one is no different. The villa she rented is massive. Hilariously oversized, Jen called it on their arrival, and while that may be true, it’s nice that there’s enough space for everyone in the family to do their own thing. Plus, it means Nate won’t have to hold Jenny back from jumping her sister-in-law for hogging the bathroom, at least on this trip. 

Right now, Nate is parked on the sectional sofa in the main living area, next to a huge set of windows displaying the ocean down in the distance. He’d taken Jenny out on the water this morning, but now he needed to carve out some time with the stack of study materials he’d brought with him. 

“Yikes. You do know you’re on vacation, right?”

Nate looks up from the packet in his hands to see Serena, already twenty percent tanner than when they’d all got here three days ago. She’s wearing the look she and Jenny have both classified as Island Niles: a brightly-colored large and flowy Hawaiian shirt and denim cutoffs (Nate’s in love with a fashion designer, he notices these things now).

“Haha,” he says flatly. “I don’t have a choice. I got a physiology exam the week after we get back, so I can’t let all the information leak out of my brain.”

Serena drops down onto the other end of the couch. “Look at you,” she croons, poking his leg with her foot, “Nate Archibald, the academic.”

He looks back down at his reading, flipping Serena off as he does. 

He hears her laugh, and spots the toss of her head out of the corner of his eye. “Don’t worry, Vanessa’s just as bad, she’s been elbow deep in Final Cut pro all day. So, I came to see what everyone else is doing.”

Nate shrugs, tapping the end of his pen on his lips. “Scott and Nat left for a romantic getaway on the big island this morning, so most everyone else is taken with the baby.” He gestures with his pen to the window behind him, to the lawn and the pool where no doubt Jen, Dan, Eric, Jonathan, Rufus,

and Lily were all still entertaining Scott’s little girl, Dylan. (Named after Bob, which Nate and Jen both agreed was a really awesome name).

Serena hums, following his point to look out the window. She laughs lightly, smile breaking over her face. 

“Aren’t you glad Scott finally had a kid?” she asks, propping her head up with her arm on the back of the couch. “Really takes the pressure off.”

Nate narrows his eyes playfully. “What pressure would you be under?”

“Umm, me and Vanessa, that’s two uteruses, so: double the pressure of the rest of you!”

He laughs. “Sure, let’s go with that.”

Serena tilts her head in thought. “Is that even the plural of uterus? Or is it uteri?”

“Uteruses,” Nate confirms. 

She grins. “See? That studying is already paying off!” she pokes him with her foot again, repeatedly this time, until Nate has to swat her away with one of his textbooks.

“Fine, fine,” she relents with a giggle. “But, seriously, tell me how school’s going.”

Nate does, trading his stories from nursing school for Serena’s about her photography and writing freelancing. She’d shied away from it for a long time, not wanting to be like her mother, but eventually, with Vanessa and Blair and Eric’s prodding, she couldn’t deny it’s what she loved to do, even if she still refuses to call it photojournalism. 

There’s always the text chains and emails and errant direct messages on social media, but Nate loves these gatherings because it’s a chance for him to really catch up with his best friend. Blair’s only a couple hours away in Paris, but S and her girl were on the move so much Nate really only gets to see them at official van der Humphrey gatherings. It’s lucky he and Blair both fell for people in her family. 

Their chat is interrupted by a high-pitched shriek of laughter, and they both turn to see Dylan giggling in Jenny’s arms as she twirls them around in the shallow end of the pool. 

“She’s cute,” Serena says. 

“Yeah,” Nate didn’t realize he was smiling until after he speaks. 

“Soooooo,” Serena says suggestively, waggling her eyebrows like a cartoon villain, “does that mean you’re next?”

Nate snorts. “Nope. Not likely.”

Serena lifts an inquiring eyebrow. 

He shrugs. “We’ve talked about it, and neither of us are anywhere near ready.” He drops the packet in his hands and stretches. “Jen has plans to launch her own label by the time she’s thirty, and I just want to survive clinicals.”

Serena nods with a laugh. “Completely understandable.”

“We’ve tabled it indefinitely,” he turns in his seat, mirroring Serena’s pose, hand propped on his arm. “Or at least another ten years.” 

“Yeah. Us too,” she shrugs, looking down, hand dropping to pluck at the fringe of one of the throw pillows. “V would be great at it.”

“You would too,” he says softly. “But you don’t have to want it.” (It’s not too dissimilar from what he told Jenny, but the sentiment remains.)

Serena shoots him a grateful smile, then turns to look back out the window. “So who do you think will be next? Eric or Dan?”

Nate hums thoughtfully. “Well, Eric’s the one who gave your mom the white wedding, so he should at least give Dan the chance to win back some points.”

Serena giggles, and as if she could sense their direction of the conversation, Blair comes padding into the room, in shockingly casual dress: leggings and an oversized, faded NYU t-shirt. Nate would have expected her in one of the resort collections Jen’s been pouring over for weeks now. 

“How are you doing there, B?” Nate teases. 

Blair makes a grumbly noise in response, and sinks down onto the couch between them, putting her head in Serena’s lap and her feet in Nate’s. 

“Hungover?” Serena asks with a pitiful pout, brushing Blair’s hair back from her face.

That’s funny, Nate doesn’t remember Blair drinking at all last night. Or the night before. Or on the flight from Heathrow to LAX—and there are few things Blair Waldorf loves more than a cocktail on an international flight.

“No,” Blair insists. “I’m just exhausted. Must be jetlag.” 

“We’ve been here for a few days now, B,” Serena says gently.

“Well, it’s delayed jetlag,” Blair snipes. 

“Does that exist?” Nate asks. 

Blair scoffs, rolling onto her side, kicking Nate in the process. “I need a nap.”

“I thought naps were for the weak,” Serena teases.

“Yeah, isn’t that what you’ve said at every other van der Humphrey family vacation?” 

Blair kicks at him again, but Nate knows he’s right. His best friend has never been one for sleeping in the middle of the day, unless she was pulling a Camille, or when she was…

“B,” he says firmly. 

She turns to look him in the eye, and he meets it. He’s been Jenny’s partner too long to be cowed by a withering stare, and known Blair too long to fall apart from hers. 

“What,” she asks flatly, challenging. 

“B,” he repeats, matching her tone, arching an eyebrow.

Her eyes widen, caught, and then he knows. 

“Okay,” Serena waves a hand, interrupting their staring contest. “One of you needs to start talking.” 

“Blair’s not hungover,” he says gleefully, “because she hasn’t had a drink all week.”

Blair pushes herself into sitting up. “Nathaniel Archibald –”

“Because,” he drops his voice to a stage-whisper, “she’s pregnant.”

Serena’s squeal nearly breaks the glass behind them. “Really?” 

“I – how –” Blair sputters at him. “How did you know?”

“I am a medical professional now, remember?” he picks up the course packet he was reading earlier and waves it in her face. 

“You’re a student,” she snarks back, swatting a hand at the book, “you aren’t a professional anything yet, Archibald, don’t be so braggy.”

“Oh, I’m gonna brag a little.”

Serena bounces in her seat, clapping her hands together. “Oh, this is amazing! Congratulations!” She playfully shoves Blair’s shoulder. “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me!” 

“I can’t believe Dan hasn’t told everyone on the island,” Nate jokes.

Blair shushes them both. “That’s because I haven’t told Dan yet,” she whispers forcefully. “So you two better keep this secret, because if he hears it from one of your girlfriends first, I swear to god, I will end you all.”

Nate meets Serena’s eye over Blair’s head, the both of them grinning wide. 

“We’re going to hug you now,” he announces, serious. 

Blair’s long-suffering sigh is muffled by the two of them wrapping their arms around each other, squeezing Blair in the middle. After a breath, her hands slip out to settle over their arms. 

“Whoa,” Nate hears another feminine voice come from the stairs’ general direction, “did I miss something?”

Serena pulls out of the hug first, then Nate, who turns to see Vanessa entering the room, straps of a swimsuit top peeking out from beneath her sundress. 

Nate shares a glance with Serena, still bubbly with excitement, and Blair, who’s eyes may as well be flashing WARNING and DANGER. 

“We – uh…plead the fifth?”

Serena bobs her head in a nod, and Blair slumps back into the couch. 

“Okay…” Vanessa drags out the word. “Well, I was just gonna walk down to the beach, so…” she trails off, and shoots a meaningful look over her shoulder at Serena before slipping outside through the sliding glass doors. 

Serena blinks, then smiles wide. “Bye!” she chirps to her best friends before dashing out the door behind her girlfriend. 

Nate turns back to Blair. 

“Not a word,” she points a finger at him threateningly. 

Nate solemnly draws a cross over his heart, just how they used to make promises to each other when they were kids. He holds his arms open after, and she obliges, throwing her own around his neck in a hug. 

“Congrats, B,” he says sincerely, without an ounce of jealousy or regret. They now both had everything they ever wanted. 

“Thank you,” she says back, equally genuine.

TASK 07 — WORKING FOR THE MAN.

WHAT IS THEIR FAVORITE SHIFT TO WORK/TIME OF DAY? 

marty doesn’t really mind working any of the shifts but working under supervision is their least favourite thing and, although they’re not every customer’s cup of tea, they can get by. that being said, marty’s preferred shifts are either opening shifts or evening shifts.

WHO ARE YOUR MUSE’S TOP 3 FAVORITE PEOPLE TO WORK WITH? 

solely because they don’t hang out outside of work as much as marty would like to, i’ll say the top three are josie, kem and kc and i will not elaborate any further than: marty is just a fan of those people and they want to hang out and if work is where they get to do that, then so be it 😎 nisa is a special mention since marty enjoys shifts with her because they’re just vibing lately and i think that’s so valid of them😌but marty really gets excited to work with anyone that they consider to be their friend and any of the people they like are someone that they like having a shift with. their besties (trip, blair, ethan, jamie, chris and maxine) are honourable mentions in marty’s heart but they hang out all the time so 💖

WHO DOES YOUR MUSE NOT LIKE TO WORK WITH?

sera and eric <3 marty and sera actually get along outside of work but when you put them in a shift together? they do not vibe at all, your honour. sera gets hives from how marty does things and marty hates how sera always makes them feel like what they’re doing isn’t well done when, as far as they’re concerned, they’re the ones that have been working there the longest smh. eric annoys marty a little bit and all of their shifts are spent with marty’s patience being tested and that’s the last thing they want when they’re working.

WHAT IS IN YOUR MUSE’S LOCKER?

marty’s locker is, most definitely, a mess. nothing people find in there makes any sense, nothing is connected, ninety percent of the stuff in there isn’t even useful. i imagine there’s some forgotten trip hoodie ( sorry trip <3 ) that they brought to work but took off because it was getting warm, shoved it in there and it’s now its new home, their nerf gun is, most of the time, kept there along with some nerf ammo. there’s definitely some loose change, probably some dollar bills that fall out of her jacket’s pockets and stay there, probably some random cigarette they had on them but threw in there because they didn’t know where else to put it. probably keeps their butterfly knife in there when at work but takes it out every day! 

HOW DOES YOUR MUSE GET TO WORK?

either walking if she feels like it or by car!! she’ll hitch a ride with someone sometimes, too, if she doesn’t feel like walking or driving. anyway, someone give marty some heelys <3

FINALLY, LIST THE TOP 3 ALBUMS YOUR MUSE HAS ON ROTATION DURING THEIR SHIFT.

marty is very well aware that the music they’re supposed to choose has to be something that can disappear into the background, create a cool ambience for the place. however, when has marty done something just because they’re supposed to do it? when they go to work, they want to have fun and they want to vibe to the music playing. so, their top three albums are: americana (1998) — the offspring, nevermind (1991) — nirvana, appetite for destruction (1987) — guns and roses. whether they actually keep playing during their shift or not because someone changed it, who knows!!
