                there was something about their class that was just about cursed. kirishima was sure of it. the number of times they had run into villains was increasing just about every week, putting them in more danger than any of the classes before them had gone through. death was something they had to come to terms with as a possibility, even though they hadn’t lost a student. hesitantly, he didn’t even want to add yet to that in his mind. but it was how things were going whether he liked it or not.

                  everyone was suffering to some extent. but most of them went out on their own, trying to cope and deal with it in their own way. kirishima was alone and playing a game in the common room of the dorm, trying to distract himself from that week’s trials. his gaze had moved away from the screen when bakugou sat next to him, only to return so he could watch a cutscene. when the scene started, however, he found one of his hands being pried off of the controller, his gaze moving back towards bakugou to see if it was really happening. the other didn’t look back to him, acting as if nothing was going on. yet the touch was the most comfort kirishima had gotten in a while. and he was sure it was the same for bakugou. he held the other’s hand while the cutscene played, only to pause the game when it stopped so he could keep holding it in silence.

             he didn’t want to. they were practicing, sparring with each other and he knew that no punches should be held back. but he didn’t want to hurt bakugou either. with every explosion the other tossed right in his face, however, he could find his anger rising and restraint growing weaker. the last explosion had caught him off guard, tasting blood in his mouth as his quirk broke for a split second. his teeth grit as he stared at the other, his fist hardening completely before he threw a punch at his face almost as hard as he could, sending the other flying back with a crack. it took not even a second for kirishima to come back around and rush to his side. “ oh – shit – i’m sorry. are you okay?? ”

seeing his friend sitting on the couch in the common room, kirishima stood behind him and watched for a moment, trying to see what he was doing and if he was paying attention. glad to see denki was unaware of his surroundings, a grin spread tugged at his lips as he crept up from behind. he nearly flung himself over the back of the couch to wrap his arms around the other’s shoulders from behind to grab him, pressing a kiss to the side of his head as he laughed. “ hey, what’re you doing?? ”

“ dude!! you finally got your provisional license!! you need to give a speech to properly celebrate!! ” kirishima knew he was more openly excited about this occasion, seeing as bakugou was still steaming over not having gotten it after the first exam. all the more reason to basically hang off of him and demand he do at least something.

“ aw man… ” that was probably one of the nicest, and sappiest, things he would ever hear from bakugou. most definitely the only time he would hear something even close to that level as well. but to know that his friend wanted him there with him as much as kirishima himself wanted to be there – it was something. a toothy grin was given. “ me either. ”

              “ i told you – if you get him backed into a corner, you can basically barrage him with attacks and kill him!! ” walking into the office to present mic playing a handheld video game was not something he would have expected. but he had gotten a good look at the game and recognized it, helping the teacher and hero out through the next level and forgetting the reason why he was there in the first place.
