v: Dragon Age
Bare your blade and raise it high. Stand your ground, the dawn will come
I may have gotten a little carried away with this. Have fun reading, and if you’re interested please let me know!!
>9:30-9:31 Dragon - the Blight and what came before
The Amicitia family is a strong one, bred as warriors destined to protect the Theirin line. His father proudly stood by Maric’s side as he fought to reclaim his throne. Growing up, Gladio knew he would one day serve Cailan and act as his shield. The two were fairly close, but Cailan’s want for glory and his habit of simplifying issues drove Gladio mad.
But that fateful day in Ostagar, Gladio was devastated to see his King fall.
As he was sworn to protect the royal line, he first went to Anora. However, it wasn’t long before Gladio and Loghain were at each other’s throats, as Gladio blamed the man for Cailan’s death. When the Warden and her party were preparing for the Landsmeet, Gladio secretly went to meet with them and offer his assistance. It was only after he shared his reasons that they trusted him with their secret: that Alistair was Maric’s son as well.
Gladio pledged his loyalty to Alistair, and told the Warden he would help them however he could. Since he had grown up in the castle, he had many connections and was able to speak on their behalf. After Alistair and/or the Warden took the throne, he stayed by their side, doing whatever it was they required of their Shield.
9:31-9:40 - the calm between the storms

9:41 Dragon - the sky torn open

@cortheimmortall
The moment had finally come, the one he’d been waiting nearly 2,000 years for. Gladio stood just to the side of Noctis, not actually in front of him but ready to move there if needed. This was his King… His new King’s fight, and Gladio was only there to act as his shield. He’d nearly given his life trying to stop Ardyn before, and he’d gladly give it now to save Noctis. After all, what did he have to live for but this? The family he knew, the friends he’d had, the one who meant everything to him… They were all gone.
Cor didn’t get the chance to have a normal life like they’d planned. He didn’t get to celebrate stopping the daemon their King had become. So Gladio hoped he wouldn’t get the chance either. If either of them had deserved to live, it had been Cor. But instead Shiva had chosen Gladio, for reasons he couldn’t begin to fathom, and he was alone.
He could still picture Cor’s face easily, since to him it had only been a year since they’d last spoken. Gladio could, in vivid detail, recall their last moments together. As they’d always done, they’d been fighting side by side. Seamlessly cutting through daemons in sync. Gladio had even laughed loudly as Cor pulled off a spectacular move, flipping over his thrown shield to strike down the enemy. They had almost made it to Ardyn, their King gone mad, when Ifrit appeared. Obviously, neither man had let it scare them… But looking back, Gladio wishes they had. Anything to change what happened.
A part of the cliff Ardyn had made his battleground was hit with a powerful fire spell, causing it to collapse and fall into the water below. Cor was knocked down as well, barely hanging on to the cliffs edge. Gladio ran for him, ignoring the battle around him and focusing solely on saving his best friend. His everything. “Cor! Reach up, I’ve got you!” But as if in slow motion the rocks collapsed, Cor’s hand lost his grip, and Gladio watched his world fall into the ocean. There was a scream in the air, a mix of their names as they both called out.
The rest of the fight had been a blur, Gladio fighting with everything he had to make sure Cor’s sacrifice wasn’t in vain. But in the end, he wasn’t enough. Ifrit tossed him into the water, broken and battered, and Gladio was almost happy that he’d be joining Cor, even if he deeply regretted their failure. The last thing he could recall was Shiva’s face, shining in front of him as she told him of her plan. He didn’t have time to protest, to insist that Cor be the one she save, before he was frozen.
Now, thousands of years later, he was forced to face his failures. The sound of Noctis summoning his sword snapped him out if his memories and he quickly summoned his own. Their small, but powerful, party was ready to charge when Ardyn held up a hand, halting everyone, and told his right hand man to step forward. The Immortal Soldier was someone everyone knew of, but few had seen. Gladio had only had to fight him once before, and they’d been evenly matched. But then Ardyn told the soldier to remove his helmet, and Gladio gripped his sword tighter. Something in his gut told him this was wrong, to run forward and stop the stranger, to not let himself see the face under the mask. But Noctis stood his ground so he did as well.
And as the mask came off, Gladio felt like he was falling into the ocean all over again. His sword vanished and he took an involuntary step forward, reaching out helplessly for the man. Grief and hope were displayed on his face, clear for all to see. It took him a moment to get the word out, overwhelmed with raw emotion. “...Cor?”

There was almost nothing worse than being sent out on a fetch mission. The only thing Gladio could think of was a fetch and escort mission. He knew that Genesis was brilliant with elemancy and that he helped Noctis out a lot, but that didn’t make him any more excited about traveling with the man.
He was wearing pink leather for fucks sake.
Tumblr media
“What exactly are we looking for? And why do you need it?” Gladio asked, the question coming out more as a grumble than anything else. He’d already had to hack through a small pack of voretooth on his own. It wasn’t hard for him, but Genesis hadn’t even pretended to help. Gladio had never been overly fond of the helpless damsel sorts, and every minute spent with Genesis made him think more and more that’s what he was.

v: FFVII
The basic summary is that Gladio is a SOLDIER Second Class. For more, totally unnecessary details, click the read more.
bullets bc I’m lazy <3
he grew up in Junon
Clarus was one of the ShinRa generals in the area so Gladio always followed after him and basically spent his entire childhood wanting to be the very best (like no one ever was)
he’s close to Zack’s age, so just young enough to start super hero-worshiping the big three and decides he wants to be just like Angeal
he’s about 15 when the fam packs up and moves to Midgar and he signs up for SOLDIER, and makes it to Second Class when he’s roughly 17
he loves where he is and loves saving people, but he still dreams of making it to First some day
when the big three fuck off he’s not sure what to do, but sticks with SinRa. Heidegger promotes him to First and he’s so proud but its kinda bittersweet.
then the turks drop the sector seven plate, his father dies helping with the evac, and he’s unsure if iris is okay or not, and he decides FUCK SHINRA and ditches
helps out with the evac, doing everything he can for everyone in sector seven. he’s gonna go be a merc until reeve approaches him for help.
meets up with AVALANCHE and acts like he’s on their side, is totes spying for reeve.
nearly ends up dying in the temple, but cait does instead. reeve doesn’t send the second cait bc he’s still got gladio there.
goes to help rufus and reeve with the evac of midgar at the end
ends up working with the WRO, but also sticks by rufus a lot bc doesn’t trust him or the turks much and thinks they need someone keeping an eye on them.
idk a lot of this can be changed up to fit a thread or whatever but here you go

@avisamans
The blow nearly knocked him out, sending him flying away from the battlefield. As quickly as he could, he got up and ran for Prompto, but he was still several feet away when a bright blast of... something hit Prompto square in the chest.
Gladio dashed back into the fight and swung his sword, slicing the Imperial soldier in half. Double checking that he’d been the last enemy, he turned and ran to Prompto’s side, already sliding a potion out just in case it was needed.

However, he realized that whatever hit Prom hadn’t really damaged him. At least, not in any way that a mere potion could fix. “Uh. You... you okay, buddy?” He asked, crouching down in front of the now child version of one of his best friends.

The second Gladio woke up he knew something was wrong. Usually everyone else in the tent was still quietly sleeping and he laid silently for a while, enjoying the brief moment of peace. But there was a soft rustling off to the side that he couldn’t place. He braced himself, preparing for a fight in close quarters, and sat up slowly.
Tumblr media
“Oh... hell no.” He muttered softly, running a hand through his hair and letting out a deep sigh. “Uh... Prompto? Noct? That... that really you guys?” Without taking his eyes off the two... children... he reached out and started smacking at Ignis to wake him up. “Iggy... Ignis wake up and tell me I’m hallucinating.”

@pxintandshoot ❤’d for a starter!
Everything had happened so quickly that it actually took Gladio a moment to realize who he had pinned underneath him. They’d heard a shot ring out, when it was supposed to have been just the four of them at camp, so Gladio and Ignis reacted without thinking and without having to say a word.
Turning toward the sound, Gladio quickly disarmed the man and tossed the gun far away before body slamming him to the floor. He quickly glanced over his shoulder, pleased to see that Ignis had safely moved Noctis out of view.
It was only after he was sure the King was safe that he paid more notice to the body below him... and he felt his blood run cold. Without moving away, he quickly ran through all the possibilities. There hadn’t been any enemies nearby, and Prom would have called out a warning instead of shooting first anyway. He knows better than to point his gun at someone he wasn’t planning to shoot, Gladio had yelled at him enough times to ensure that. So the only explanation that made sense... was that Prompto had actually been aiming for Noctis.
And that didn’t actually make sense at all.
“Prompto you have ten seconds to explain what the hell just happened.” Gladio growled, not loosening his grip in the slightest, just in case.
