Aaye vampy! I was curious, when and how did you get into vampire lore? :o

BIG QUESTION, I don’t quite know myself but my memory goes back as far as around the age of at least.... 8 years old, I have had a fascination since the moment I started watching old classic vampire movies then what got me hooked was The Lost Boys. Ever since, I had somehow made it my goal to read up on every vampire-related book I could find at my local libraries and let me just say: I have read some really horrible vampire novels in my time & I forgot each title so I can’t tell you which ones to avoid. I think what really gets me is that each region and culture has their own variation of a vampire or creature relating to it. Their origins are also pretty vague or masked in mystery so it’s fun to imagine how they came to be. Many lore / legends depict the vampires to be the direct descents from the bibical Lilith after she was turned demon so that’s honestly a pretty interesting concept to me. Others say it’s a disease or some mutation that developed over time meanwhile another is that it’s a type of CURSE - to somehow mirror that of werewolves where it is a sort of damnation. How: simply devouring every book I could find on it. I also am still currently getting into the lore of vampires within different cultures. I recently just got a book on vampires which have variations based on each different movie - ranging from classics, the b-rated obscure ones then down to the more modern interpretations aka that of Underworld and Blade ( although that isn’t too new ). OH - can I just say how I genuinely enjoy the interpretation of Dracula in Penny Dreadful? Who would have thought that someone would depict the big bad Dracula to be the brother of Lucifer himself. I really liked this show for it’s blending of classic literature and giving us something entirely fresh despite the time era. I have reread the original Dracula time and time again to see the hints of similarities that they put into the show too so it’s nice to see that literature and lore have a nice representation ??? i rambled so much ;;

I've always been curious since its rare to meet people who like vampires. I used to do a lot of research on them for a vampire centric story in my younger years, but I've forgotten A LOT. Its refreshing to see someone who went the whole nine yards and I'm feeling that pull again, dammit Vampy. Who do you think created the most interesting version of a vampire? I always had a huge soft spot for Claudia, but what other characters made you point and go MY FUCKING BLOOD CHILD

DO I HEAR THE TUG OF THE VAMPIRES BEING SPREAD??? OH BO YI feel like a good refresher if you want to read / watch something, is definitely going along the lines of at least The Vampire Chronicles, perhaps at least just The Interview with the Vampire since I feel like that one gave a good peak into the specifics of a vampire’s turning & the feelings ( honestly Anne Rice’s writing helps a lot for that ). The Lost Boy’s is a great one, Blade, Underworld are great watches for that........ Personally, I really enjoyed the version in Being Human. They adapted to the times and they can withstand the sun but their eyes are still a bit sensitive to the sun. I feel like that’s my favorite since it really gives you sense of ‘ they could actually be real ’ if they could blend in so seamlessly. Claudia is such a precious little darling, her grievance for the childhood that was ripped away from her by Lestat’s doing. It’s absolutely horrible how you see how tormented she is by her immortality and how she didn’t even get a choice, it makes complete sense why it’s technically forbidden to give the dark gift to someone so young. WHAT CHARACTER??? THAT’S SO HARD ahHHHh I think I would have to say perhaps Simon from The Mortal Instruments series??? He’s so fucking precious. He originally started off human when he’s introduced but he gets turned ( by accident ) and you kinda see his transition from this person who couldn’t do much to somehow gaining the courage to even push away someone he’s been in love with for so long. I feel like him gaining that bit of immortality was a real eye-opener for him since he has all this time to adjust to this world that he was never a part of to finally being in this world so it’s coming to terms with his old life and the new. Also trying to keep the parts of his life that are important, such as his love for Clary is so pure but he chooses to break up with her solely for the fact that he would rather have her “love” for him be on the platonic level she always had instead of having her force herself in order to reciprocate. His struggle with so many things is what really makes him a very great character that resonates to me kjahwkjdhawdANOTHER IS : ROMAN GODFREY OF HEMLOCK GROVE, He’s technically an UPIR but still in the general branch of vampires if you have to ask me. I read the book + the entirety of the series ( it’s on Netflix ). I feel like you get this absolute horrible view of him early on but you come to realize that Roman is very inept when in regards to his emotional connections and even being just a friend to someone??? A lot of this has to be put on the blame of his mother who is as cold as ice in my opinion so having absolutely no warmth or comfort is such a shitty thing to go through. His development generally starts when he meets Peter, the two were very important for their well-being and they grew together to be such a nice pair. It’s quite sad that things tore them apart at the end but I feel like Roman grew to be something more than just what he is.

OKAY, where do I even begin?? I honestly just reached my first milestone on this blog which was THE BIG 100 & I know it’s not too big of a feat but I just wanted an excuse to show my appreciation for everyone who interacts with me and has followed me on this journey of slowly diving into the story I created for Lawrence. It means so much to me especially since I have yet to unveil all the portions of his story but it only gives him more mystery + gives him a chance to expand past his own created story by going into other worlds and making more adventures. KNOWING YOUR PARTNER WELL CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER.

1. BASICS

THREE FACTS:

1. Growing up, I wasn’t exactly allowed to have much of an identity - not allowed to listen to music nor did I have the opportunity to watch TV aside from cartoons prior to my grandpa coming home from work. What I was exposed to was a lot of classic metal, oldies r&b and 80′s horror movies though. I think this isolation is probably what helped my fascination with the supernatural elements, my hugest passion second to art would be my favorite of vampires. I know I talk about it time and time again but hadn’t it been for the constant desire to get my hands on books, movies and other type of content - I would have had a worse time in my childhood household with my grandparents. It was stifling, toxic and altogether a root of my problems so it’s why i’m very grateful for my quiet interests as a child because hadn’t it been for art and my interest for vampires, I probably would have been worse off otherwise. 

2. I deal with a multitude of mental illnesses that I can’t afford to go to a doctor for much less get medicated, it’s why i’m very hesitant to approach a lot of confrontational situations because I don’t trust myself to act upon anything unless I've thoroughly weighed out the pros and cons. I like to pace myself because of my conditions since I don’t understand how I may react even if I know that it’ll be completely irrational and that’s one of the aspects of who I am that makes it bothersome. I like to make sense of what’s going on, with anything. I’m probably the worse person to approach a situation to just simply let it be, to feel it’s effects....... nope, I got to break it down to the most logical level that it feels cold and lifeless. <_<;; I think that’s one of my issues when it comes to friendships or any type of relationship because I don’t like to do anything with emotional stimulation because it’s somewhat useless??? That’s why I enjoy writing because it gives me the chance to stir up emotions in a controlled environment that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to conjure up in my day-to-day life. It helps me cope with all of my problems and i’m very happy I chose this medium as an outlet. As gratifying as art is, there’s not too much of an interactive community outside fandoms.   3. I’m learning how to unlearn a lot of my worst habits and tendencies, I literally struggle with this every single day and let me be completely honest with you - it’s far easier being an elusive asshole that I have been since I was roughly 17 but resorting to such behavior won’t do me any good. I broke free from a toxic years-long friendship when I was 22 and I vowed that I would learn from that experience, I come to realize all the things I been letting said friend get away with were not acceptable and my behavior was the underlying effects of me dealing with trauma. I didn’t realize these things and it’s why i’m so strict with myself when dealing with others as well as making sure i’m growing as a person. If I ever come off as rude or harsh, I swear I don’t mean to. Trying to be a better person and growing as an individual is my ultimate goal now that I’m literally a full-fledged adult because honestly, the way I used  to be is unacceptable.

2. EXPERIENCE

PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED:Tumblr BEST EXPERIENCE: There’s so many, probably one of my most memorable memories was with someone who I no longer talk to anymore but they were a huge step of drawing me out of my trauma-induced depression when I first joined this website. That one experience rose up many other good ones for me and I met a lot of my current partners through that one silly fandom. I won’t mention them all since there’s so many blogs but let’s just say that my starting point was the most gratifying. I felt very isolated and lonely irl so joining this website where I didn’t have to have my reputation shoved in my face all the time when I tried to reach out to anyone was quite refreshing. Let’s just say the social circles I had back then were not the best. 

3. MUSE PREFERENCES

FEMALE OR MALE: I wish I had more female muses but I just seem to lean more towards male more than anything. MULTI OR SINGLE: I personally am more fond of single ship but for this blog i’m trying out multi-ship, I know I won’t have many or if any but it’s nice to have the option? idk

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: STARES AT HANDS-------- Angst PLOTS OR MEMES: Plots, I like memes but I find that my writing motivation can be heightened more when I’m doing threads based around a plot more than anything. Especially when writing for Lawrence when I try to achieve a certain ‘voice’ ; A ;  BEST TIME TO WRITE: Whenever the hell i’m not tired. ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): NO FUCKING WAY, at least not personality wise. I have gone through similiar struggles due to my very existence and orientation but that’s as far as I can relate to him. I based him and his story to cope with my struggles but unlike myself, I given him a type of good ending. Weeps to self honestly
