almost seven years had passed since persephone had left the autumn court, and since she had last seen the father of her child. knowing very well that he didn't want to settle into anything serious she'd never even remotely come close to wanting to reach out to him. maybe it was easier for her to avoid having to have the conversation of the fact. however it wasn't something that she was going to be able to avoid now that they had all found themselves in the dusk court. as much as she wished she could just stay within the chambers that the dawn court had been put up in, she couldn't. it wasn't good for ares to be holed up in a room because of her. with his hand in hers as they walked around the courtyard she couldn't help but freeze when she spotted the high lord of autumn in front of her. "high lord." a formal greeting leaving her lips.

persephone had never been fond of using her own magic. being the way that she was raised to be something useful to her father, she had put in the bare amount of effort to actually learn of her own abilities. running from the dawn court as soon as she was old enough to she had practically shoved her own magic out of her mind. ignoring it instead of putting it to use. "i have not, i've not been much of one to use them in the first place." the lady admitted to the other. "though i'm sure others are more excited about their return."
reila allowed her hand to slip away from the plant, not wishing to truly explore her magic at once. while it felt fully returned, the fae did not desire to push any sort of limit and grow tired. in foreign lands, she felt that it was important to at least be reserved. besides, it could scare their hosts. the flower remained beautiful in bloom, perhaps a good omen. " have you tested your own yet, my lady ? " she finds herself asking, polite as ever when it would be impossible not to know a high family member. their stay in the capital had allowed reila plenty of study time.

the way that suho had changed the moment she had brought ares out to see him in the common area of the dawn court's apartments was something that persephone couldn't have predicted. in the gardens he had been so furious and ready to start a war but the moment he had laid eyes on the six year old boy it was like he hadn't even thought about how furious he had been. while he had stayed and spent time with their son perephone hadn't forgotten just how mad he had been. she wasn't really going to bring that up right away. really the priority at the moment was figuring out how things would work specifically when it came to ares. the three of them had been in the gardens, their son playing in the garden while she sat with a watchful eye over their son. "how do we go forward with this? i want you in his life obviously, but how much do you want to be in his? who does he stay with?"

persephone had heard the same question from her older brother too many times over the last six years. the high lord wanting to know who the father of her child was. knowing that it didn't look good for the dawn court to have the eldest daughter of the galathanea's to be an unwed mother was something that weighed on her mind constantly. it was easier to hide away in the dawn court, keeping to her room with her son. however in the dusk court with everyone around it was harder to keep that part of her life private. it wasn't really what she wanted to do, but it was time that she revealed the secret to the father. he was going to be the first to know, other than sera. what persephone was scared of was for saint's reaction when she did finally reveal it. "i've told the father that he has a son." she stated as she approached her older brother. "i'm still not telling you until he has time to settle in with this new information."

persephone had never really been close to her family, especially in the times before she had run away from the dawn court. though since her return she had opened herself up to them more. especially that of her older brother and iggy. though she still wouldn't consider herself to be close with either of them she enjoyed the time that they spent together since she had returned to dawn with ares. "with all of us here, have you any guesses to who fathered ares?" persephone knew the other had been curious of who the young boy's father was. "i may confirm if you are correct."

persephone had walked herself right into the position she had found herself in. things could have been different if she had just gone back to suho when she had discovered her pregnancy. telling him now was going to be difficult and it was going to change things drastically in her life. knowing that she was never going to get him back was something she'd lived with since the day that she had left autumn. however when he found out about ares it was going to permanently change things between them. "i know, and i don't want to change that." there was a part of her that had wished that fact could have been changed before. persephone had grown into the fact that she'd never get that from him. "i don't know that it will ever be good, but i appreciate you trying to think positively for me."
Sera almost has the urge to grasp the other hand, reassure that everything under the sky would be well, but that wasn't the kind of bond the sisters had shared since the faithful day she had been casted to the night court and the now high lady of the same had severed most of her connection to dawn, the sisters reconnection had been born of need and undeniable loyalty for shared blood. "but you knew that from the beginning, did you not?" she dares ask, sighing after as she search for good kind words. "i do not believe it will go well, nor it will be easy, but i do think once the waters calm down it shall be good. truth has a way of setting you free, persephone." at least it had worked for her when she had told her truth and her marriage had gone on a better path.

court business was the last thing that persephone would ever be involved in. even though she never was, she knew the members of the inner circle. talking about the court and what was happening was never something that she would bring up. however knowing how they were through everything was something she cared about. coming across the commander in the dawn's common area, she approached the other. "hello nori, how have you been doing?"

persephone had never truly considered herself to be close to her siblings, but seraphina had been the one person that had taken her in when she needed. hiding her from the dawn court and from the father of her child when she had found out about her situation. it'd been a few years since the older female had seen that of her younger sibling. meaning to visit her long before they had been pulled together, but she wasn't going to complain about it now. knocking on the door of the high lady's door she waited for the other. "hi sera." the brunette greeted the other when the door opened.

persephone did not involve herself in the workings of the court, rather keeping to herself within the court. raised to potentially be the nest high ruler of the dawn court, except that it was not what she wanted for herself. she had run from her home court the moment she was old enough, only returning when she had fallen pregnant with her son. while she had not been as involved she knew of the people in her court. walking into the quarters they had been assigned she spotted the commander. "lady nori, how have you been?"

head canons and/or backstory.
raised as her brother's back up, she was immediately trained by the best tutors the court had to offer along with her siblings. the pressure to perform the best that she could when it came to their abilities and their studies. it was never really what persephone was interested in though. attention drifting during her studies, constantly under fire for gazing out the window. being a constant disappointment to her parents led to the second eldest to run from the court as soon as she was old enough. years and years spent travelling around the continent. exploring each of the courts at a leisurely pace. spending the most time in the autumn court. which was where she met suho. knowing he didn't want to settle she had entered into a more casual relationship but she wasn't cut out for that. leaving the male when he still refused to settle down with her. doing what she does best and ran away from the male. it was upon her initial return to the dawn court after autumn that she discovered that she was with child. once again in her avoidant nature, she took off from the court once again. fear of being a disappointment for having a child out of wedlock. fleeing to the only person that she knew she could trust to help her in situation she went to the night court. her sister striking a bargain with her to keep her secret of who the father of the child was, and keeping her hidden for the duration of her pregnancy. only returning to the dawn court after the arrival of her son. returning to the dawn court for the final time with her son in tow wasn't easy, but she wasn't going to be able to hide it from the court and her family for long. raising her child on her own in her home court from then on until they found themselves in the capital and then in the dusk court.

leaving eri behind when she had left the dawn court the first time was something that persephone had regretted. subjecting her to the same treatment that each of the galathanea girls were supposed to get. the only reason she had avoided her own path from her father was because she hadn't remained in one place for a long time after she had left. watching the younger enter the space that she had been occupying with her son with the mugs in her hands. "is it sweet?" the older galathanea asked as she set the mug next to her. "have you asked them for the recipe yet? i'm sure it can't be that complicated of a recipe." not that persephone had even really attempted to try to make something like that.
@shvdwscng; @stxrslisten; @ethercvl ( not a group thread )
" i have procured a chocolate beverage that is served hot, and is quickly becoming my new addiction. " eri begins, setting one of the mugs she's whisked from the kitchens down next to her sibling. " i will be getting this recipe and brining it home, otherwise i will never leave here for fear of not tasting this deliciousness again. " she was joking, but the youngest galathenea was also a big of a wild card. she'd been growing up a lot as of late, changing and turning into the fae she probably would have been were she not tied down by the desire for approval from someone who would never offer it. would her siblings notice ? had they already ? she didn't really bother to dwell on it. eri's misplaced thought into her father had now turned to her siblings, wishing for them not to see her as the baby, but she lied to herself and said she didn't care.

persephone didn't really have anything against the emissary, knowing that he wasn't saying these things as a way of actually harming someone. it was just his way of being playful, and something that the lady could handle. "you did not say that, but you implied it in the way that you spoke. i get it, sera is a very pretty galathenea." arguably all of the galathenea girls were gorgeous, persephone couldn't even begin to choose which of them was truly the prettiest of them. "of course we are all prettier than saint, but don't count my older brother out. he's just as conventionally attractive as many others."
contrary to what many may believe, carden is well aware when people like him or not. the hitch is that he doesn't really care if some dislike him, he still enjoys poking at their irritation. the galathenea siblings were easy targets, and with sera in the night court and persephone back, the choice is easy on who to pester. besides, he did toe the line, not wishing to actually upset or anger saint's sisters. carden grins, like the cheshire cat where all his teeth are shown. " ah but i did not say that, i simply said i wouldn't admit to who was prettier when you were both in the room. that's common sense. " he says pointedly. " you are all still prettier than your brother. " adds carden.

the words that had left the autumn court's high lord the night that she had told him of his son had quite literally broken her heart. persephone wants to believe the younger's words. that suho cannot despise her for the fact that she is the mother of his son. "i don't know if that will happen, but i appreciate you trying to be positive." persephone knew that it was for the best that ares got to know his father. especially being that he is the only child of the current high lord of autumn. it was likely that ares would be the next high lord in the future. "it is the best for ares, i won't regret my choice even if it hurts me." the older galathanea would do anything for her son. "he deserves to have his father in his life, i should have told him sooner."
Sera knows her sister well enough to know that such statement hurts her, everything with the high lord had been a though lesson for the older galathenea, matters of the heard were never easy to navigate. "he cannot despise you, you're the mother of his child, he might be angry for now but time will heal it, time always heals everything even when it feels like it won't." she sets her cup of tea down. "i should know," she gives the other a sadden smile, hoping to cheer her up even if just slightly. "and besides in the end, it is whatever is best for ares, having his father will be good for him." seraphina nods once again picking up her tea cup. she could only hope that the autumn high lord was not an unreasonable man.

there is nothing that persephone could say back to the high lord. wanting to come clean to the high lord earlier had never worked out, and a large part of her was being forced to tell him. maybe she would have told him earlier had he ever come to her court. however that wasn't really an excuse for her not telling him. blaming him for putting it together that their forced proximity was the reason that she was telling him wasn't something that she could do. at least she believed that it was better that she had told him rather than the high lord finding her with their son. "i get your words suho, it's your actions and body language that i'm seeing." it was probably not the right thing to be saying to him in that moment, but nothing that she said would please the high lord besides taking him to their son. "i will take you." turning towards the castle to lead him towards their son.
He laughs, bitterly, a sour taste in his mouth that went down his throat, he could swear he might throw up if it wasn't because he was focused on one goal, meeting this boy he claimed to be his. "you know nothing, nothing at all, because if you knew or cared you wouldn't have done this. a year, maybe two i might've understood, but six? and not for one moment think i do not know the only reason you're coming clean is because you have no choice now that we are all locked here," he accuses her, the more he gets his feelings out the better he will be at hiding them when it came to face the son he nod had. "you truly don't get it, do you? the boy will never get any of this anger, no, my anger is only reserved for you and you alone, as is my hatred." he had never hated anyone before, in all his life he had never felt anyone deserving of such emotion, until that very night. "i will live with this anger towards you for the rest of my life, persephone, that i swear it." there's a lingering moment where he simply stares at her, the ice in his eyes matching the color of hers, finally he takes one step back, then another. "now if you would be so kind as to please for the love of all the entities take me to meet my son before i turn this keep upside down, unless you rather wait another six years, that is."

with every word that he screams at her she wishes she could take another step back. every single word of it is deserved, at this point she deserves for him to take her son from him. she deprived him of his son for six years, seven if she included the time that she was pregnant. however that was the last thing that she wanted. handing ares over to him was the last thing that she wanted to do. "i know that he deserved to have his father in his life, i messed up with that. as time went on it was harder to go back to the autumn court to tell you." ares had questions about his father of course, and persephone had felt awful for years that she couldn't take him to his father. knowing that she made every decision in the last seven years of her life wrong was hard. it was never meant to become something this catastrophic. "i know you will physically not hurt him. it's mentally that i worry about. he is an impressionable child, if you appear to him angry like this you will do nothing but leave him terrified." when it came to her son she didn't care what happened to her. as long as ares was safe she didn't care. however she can't help the way that she felt when he used his high lord voice on her. "calm yourself down before i take you to see him. i am not denying you of seeing him, just you cannot come into it like this. i will take you if you can be calm before we get there."
He denies with his head as he realizes he did not know the woman standing in front of him, when had he stopped he could not pin point. "neither! damn it! neither!" he screams over again. "i would've simply supported you, helped you raised our son, was he in the plans? no. but i would've never turned you out in the cold nor would i had ever dreamed of separating you from him. but i wouldn't have married you either, that wouldn't have changed with or without a child." he points out sourly. "but you," he points at her with his finger, "you were so selfish that you made me into your villain, and not only did you deprive me, but you deprived that boy if his father and the rest of his family, half of who he is." his finger does not lower as it continues to point at her. "damn me, a thousand times over, but him? how could you." suho moves an in a swift movement he is right in front of her, leaning down face to face. "be careful what you wish for, persephone. make no mistake, my anger is towards you and you alone, i might not know the boy but if my blood runs through his veins i would set myself on fire before hurting him" a part of him chilled at the thought, the idea of hurting her, but more at the fact that he meant it and he had never before wished caused her any harm. "my son, now." this time it wasn't suho speaking it was the high lord in him and that penned up energy that ran in his veins.

his reaction is everything that she feared when it came to telling him. yet she can't blame him for it either. persephone deserved his anger, for keeping something so big from him for so long. everything about the secret was something that she regretted deeply. things could have been better if she had just gone back to him when she had discovered that she was pregnant. however there was a part of her that still believed that he would have told her to not keep the babe. knowing that suho did not want to settle was what had drove her to run and hide from the autumn high lord. taking a step back from the male as he processed the information she had just shared. "you were so adamant about not settling down, i never meant for this to happen." words spoken softly, tears already forming in her eyes. trying to will herself not to cry in front of the high lord. "i'm sorry."
Six years, the boy had been alive for six long years and suho had been none the wiser, robbed of the opportunity to care for his own blood, to watch him grow. how much had missed of his life, and would he ever forgive himself for it, would he ever find it in him to forgive her for it. his heart beats violently against his ears, the famous throbbing vein on his forehead comes out to show his anger and the way his temper flirts with that line drawn on the sand by him. if she was anyone else he might've already done something he regretted, but it was her, persephone, the girl of eyes like the water that he had been enchanted with for so long, her laughter some days still echoed in his ears when he thought of her fondly, and now he had to fight his instinct not to take her life. "was i ever so unkind to you that you felt forced to do commit such atrocity?" his voice comes hoarse and raspy, and he swallows hard trying to alleviate the dryness in his mouth.
