without thinking, florence’s hand came up to brush against the side of her face, carefully tucking a loose strand of blonde hair behind her ear. she’d never been great at taking a compliment, a comment on her previous life being forced to bend and change for a man who always told her that she was never quite enough. but this was different, kind, genuine. “that’s really nice of you to say so, thank you.” hands pushed down at the front of her dress, a new choice of outfit for florence who spent most of her time in tailored trousers of some sort. “It’s not too much, is it? It’s been so long since I’ve had any sort of occasion to dress up for that I have no clue what sort of thing to wear ––"

blonde hair swayed at the side of her face as florence shook her head, a refusal to take the apology, no matter how many times jessie wanted to try and give it to her. "don't be sorry. i won't let you." she confirmed, stepping back into her small, bare apartment to allow her front door to open widely, left hand beckoning the other inside. it was late, at least by her standards, the darkness outside daring to encroach into the one bedroom if it hadn't been kept at bay by the soft warmth of the lamps that flo had turned on as she'd made her way to the front door. "you're always welcome here, no matter the time." for all the time that she was there, she thought to herself. there was no telling when the want, or rather the need, for florence to drop everything and move onto the next place would strike. but for now, she'd be here. "is everything okay?" she asked, though stopped herself. "hold that thought –– let me get you a drink first. tea? or something stronger?"
