he'd snuck away from the office, finally. the blonde is starving and there's no way he's getting anymore work done if he simply starves. taking a seat he orders the usual, biting his lip as his food is prepared. until someone sits down beside him. the hokage blinks, turning his head.

𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐑𝐔𝐁 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐒. the kage summit hadn't exactly gone as he'd hoped and now here he was, stacked with paperwork almost taller than him. when sasuke had walked in naruto was hunched over his desk, scribbling his signature onto some documents. it took him a moment to look up, giving a tired smile toward sasuke. he'd asked about his demeanor and naruto was honest, he was stressed.

the declaration has his eyes going wide, quick to shake his head. ❛ sasuke, i appreciate it but you can't go murdering people just because they don't agree with me. ❜ he explains, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair. still, the mere thought causes him to chuckle after a moment of silence. ❛ you can't solve your problems with violence anymore, sasuke. ❜ a bit of scolding never hurt.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐁𝐀𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐄 𝐀𝐓 𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐃. this trip was supposed to be easy, it was just to the kage summit after all. being ambushed on such a rugged terrain wasn't ideal and sasuke had done his best to avoid injury but it just didn't seem possible. naruto had come out of the altercation rather unscatched, a few cuts here and there but . . . sasuke had been hit with a kunai to the shoulder and it'd sent naruto almost into a panic at the sight. it's then naruto had finally fought off the attackers, nine tailed chakra mode coming in handy once again.

self preservation had never been a skill naruto possessed, even as the hokage. and that had been made even more obvious when naruto had put himself between the attackers and sasuke almost immediately. sure, sasuke would scold him later but . . . clearly it's a good thing he did. ❛ i'm perfectly fine, sasuke. you're the one bleeding !! ❜ making it to sasuke's side he frowns, eyeing the wound.

𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐎 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍'𝐓 𝐅𝐄𝐄𝐋 ' 𝐂𝐔𝐓𝐄 ' 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓. the desk is piled high with stacks of paperwork. he'd long gotten rid of his jacket and hokage garb, having tossed it aside. but it's late, nearing midnight and no one would be bugging him at this hour . . . except for one uchiha. head resting on the desk he had almost been asleep had it not been for sasuke's touch waking him. the blonde shot up, eyes wide as he looked around the office before meeting eyes with sasuke. he slumps back into the chair, rubbing his eye with a flesh hand.

sasuke is grinning. nothing like his own that often he was told was ' blinding ' but a grin nonetheless. his words have naruto huffing, grumbling under his breath. there's a soft red that runs across the bridge of his nose. ❛ gotta get this done, ya know ? i don't want all this work to be waiting for me tomorrow . . . ❜ his voice is raspier than usual from sleep. but at the mere sight of all the work in front of him he sinks even deeper into the chair. there's still a lingering blush on the hokage's face. with a pleading look he tilts his head upward at sasuke, giving his best puppy dog expression as if to say ' help '.

𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐀𝐘 𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐀𝐍 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓. being hokage wasn't always as glamorous as people often made it out to be. and sure, naruto knew that going into the position . . . but the mounting paperwork on his desk and the never ending work load he often felt like there was no catching up. circles had formed under his eyes from the lack of sleep and naruto can feel his eyes growing heavy.

sasuke had shown up just in time, causing the blonde to shoot up. blue eyes are wide now, staring at sasuke from his place behind the desk. sasuke mentions something about naruto going home but he just can't . . . not with this pile of paperwork staring him in the face. its then the uchiha disappears, returning with a small bento box. naruto blinks, eyes raising from the food to sasuke who speaks. ' i'll take care of you. '

𝐒𝐇𝐄'𝐒 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐄'𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃. suddenly the hat is in her hands and although he should be annoyed or maybe concerned he can't help but almost sigh in relief. he hated the stupid thing . . . it was gody and frankly too big. while he was honored to have the position naruto can't help but dislike at least some aspects of the job. a sigh follows, attempting to force down a grin. he really shouldn't let her know how much it doesn't bother him . . . but it's impossible.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐇𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐂, 𝐀𝐒 𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐔𝐒𝐔𝐀𝐋. when sasuke had insisted on coming naruto had shooed the other away. there was no reason sasuke had to come. but at the same time, naruto wasn't going to argue with him if this made him somehow feel better. suited up with a mask and even a fake tattoo naruto holds back a chuckle. they haven't even left yet and they'd already been bickering for a good ten minutes. this would be a long trip.
