Twas unexpected, to say the least. For Miah to even mention G’raha Tia. Let alone long to find him. A shocking turn of events that he could never have foreseen. Such concern for him, or rather, who he was, presses heavily on his heart. Regret. Wholly ignorant as it was. A small pondering of what life would have been like had be not sealed himself away all those years ago.
Foolish what-ifs. If that had happened, neither of them would be alive. That much is certain. Still, his heart does not listen. His heart tells him, BEGS him, to tell her. To reveal himself and quit this farce. To find another way to save both worlds. The heart is a fool. He knows this. He’s seen it get men killed. He is a fool to entertain the thought. She is more important than him. If he is to save her, the first, and the source... He will have to die. And it’s better if she never discovers who he is. Best for her to loathe him once he stills that aether and makes his ill-fated escape.
Her concern should be chalked up to what he already knows about her. She is too kind. Worrying about a man who left her long ago. A man who thought she’d forgotten. And so he says those words, hoping to shut the entire situation down.
𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐠𝐨.
But her response... It hurts. He would have her hate him later, of course. But her scorn right now burns him. He longed to be near her yet again. And just seven simple words... He must have seemed heartless.
He flinches. Emotions long-suppressed bubbling up. He told himself she had forgotten about him. She had to have. And yet it seems she remembered. Her words cut deeper than any blade. He turns away from her, waves of emotion crashing over him. How long had he felt this way? A feeling that can only be described as LOVE. It started when they first worked together, and over the years of learning of what a woman she became. Of waiting for her. And now seeing her... He would never want her to hurt. That is why he must lie. But she is... already hurting. It’s his fault. He tries to respond, but his throat burns. After repressing his emotions so long, her mere presence makes them volatile. He feels tears stinging his concealed red eyes.
He clears his throat and blinks away the tears lest they expose themselves. He must speak. He must lie. But instead, his heart beats his mind in the race and words come from there instead,
“You... Truly care for this person...?” His voice is soft, trembling faintly. “Forgive me for... taking them away from you then.” Words that hold too many meanings, An apology he owed her for locking himself within the tower all those years ago.
“I know not... w-when the tower came from. T-tis likely that...” Words stop as that lump in his throat returns. He just wants to tell her. To ease this burden on his heart. It’s breaking yet again. Cracks that formed when he learned of her death starting to fester now. She had once cared about him, and he was a fool. How cruel the fates are, indeed.
His unafflicted hand clenches at his side and he hopes his trembling is not obvious. Damn his heart. Damn it all. So many years of planning and she still surprises him. He’s so... stupid.

@earthlystar liked for a starter from G’raha (◈) [ for N'welhi ]
*•.¸◈
He was exhausted. So much time poured into researching the tower, and as much as he wanted to believe this would all amount to something good... He could feel something no one else could possibly understand. Every once in a while, his eye would ache. He would somehow learn something about Allag he should not know. But now, it was becoming even more frequent. He had accepted that to be a symptom of his curse, but it was getting harder to behave the way he normally would. The investigation had consumed him, and he felt like his personality was changing. It terrified him. He was starting to fear me was less of a person and more of an Allagan artifact. So beyond anything else, he just wanted to stop thinking.
And so he asked to meet N'welhi alone, far from the prying eyes of the camp. What exactly was he expecting? He was not truly sure. But anything was better than the maddening thoughts plaguing him. N'welhi was handsome, for certain. It would be a lie to say he hadn’t found himself staring at the other miqo’te. How he had never been so harshly flirted with by another male until... he met him. He had always felt like his desires did not rest solely on women. He knew it, but would never say it. He was attracted to him. Mostly, his bravery and his charming nature. He had always been far too curious, and on the off chance, he didn’t entirely lose himself during this expedition... He would return home and N'welhi would continue on adventures and saving the realm. Something G’raha so desperately wished he could have done at one point. He wants to get closer to N'welhi before that desire fades. The wonder of a youthful drive for adventure. He was still young, only 24 summers. But He was starting to feel much older as he got closer to the tower. He didn’t want to lose himself. Maybe he needed a new memory.
He had been leading the taller man before he assumed the distance was acceptable. He stops, looking over his shoulder. His heart is pounding and he can’t tell if he feels sick or if that’s the butterflies in his stomach he had heard so much about. This was nothing deep. Just another innocent crush. That’s what he tells himself. This time, however, may be his last chance to act upon any of them as himself. He just wants to mute his thoughts.
“Th-thank you for...” He trails off. Why was it suddenly harder to speak to him? The fear of rejection gripped him, despite his logical mind telling him the other certainly had been giving him hints. Instead, he turns and faces him. He closes the distance between them. Words would not work with him, so perhaps actions would instead. If N'welhi didn’t want him to kiss him, he could shove him away. He could even beat him within an ilm of his life. He didn’t care. He just wanted the terrible thoughts to stop. He wanted to feel alive, like himself. He wanted to not waste his chance with the famous Warrior of Light.
He presses his lips to his, almost shyly. Testing the waters and halfway expecting to be shoved to the hard ground.

How rare it is to find a new thing to read in Norvrandt. Having collected hundreds of tomes in his years, it was refreshing to find something new. Mayhap that is why he is so engrossed in it. He hardly notices the presence of another person, let alone the person he loves.
When he first feels her soft lips against his neck, he freezes. It had been far too long for him to remember what such a thing felt like. Not to say it feels bad. No. Quite the opposite. It sends chills down his spine. Her kisses are so perfectly placed upon the remaining skin on his neck. He knows who the culprit is, of course. The only person on the First that would do such a thing to the Crystal Exarch. He starts to say her name, but any amount of composure soon vanishes when she begins to leave her mark.
The once so engrossing book is dropped to the ground, he cannot even remember what he had been reading about. “A-ah...” It hurts in a way, but it feels so amazing. His cheeks quickly warm-up, beginning to match his hair in hue. He can’t help but lean into it. When was the last time...? He cannot even remember. All he knows is that he wants more. He wants her to touch him, so badly. But it is... Not right for him to think such things. He tries to stay quiet, but the smallest moan slips out when her tongue dances along the fresh mark.
More kisses are left, and he feels like he’s burning. There are things he wants too much. More touching... And to make her feel as good as she made him feel. And yet, he has convinced himself to do so would be bad for her. He doesn’t know how much time they will have together and getting too close may just.... hurt her.
“I... I am.... n-not...” He’s utterly speechless. How can he even respond to that? He had promised himself he would lie to her no more, and yet she’s putting him in this position. How cruel she is. “N-next time you could at least... s-say hello first.” He decides to not engage with the question at all.

The had been venturing deeper into the tower. She was doing most of the hardest work, fighting whatever lurked within. He wished he could join her. He is actually quite good with a bow, and to be able to see such marvels up close would be amazing. But he fears he would just get in her way. His intent when approaching her was to ask if he could come along when she entered Syrcus Tower, but he refrained. Instead, he stays silent.
He hardly knew her, and yet... There was another question he wanted to ask. A question about HIM. One that she likely would be unable to answer as well as the others. Mayhap that’s why he wanted to ask her and no one else. Because... she may be able to convince him his concern is not the case. That he had not been changing during the investigation. His true desire for researching Allag was selfish. His crimson eye, he was certain all about it would be revealed if he continued to research the tower. And yet, more and more... The pain is caused seemed to flare up. And thoughts and information he should not have seemed to float in his mind. He tried to tell himself it was nothing to be concerned about. But...
Mayhap he needed a distraction. As everyone else was working, Masya was not. He decided not to ask her the embarrassing question and instead forces a smile and approaches. He has not slept much in the last few days, but he has no intention of sleeping. Not when he can talk to a famous adventurer instead.
“Tis getting late, you know?” He approaches the other miqo’te. “There is naught we can do for now, perhaps you should sleep.” He hopes she doesn’t want to. As selfish as that is. He wants, nay, NEEDS to stay busy. “Unless you are planning to go on some grand adventure in the meantime.” Mayhap it is not quite small talk, but if she plans on exploring or returning to Revenant's Toll, he would be happy to travel with her. Much better than worrying himself into illness.

He flinches. To hear such suffering in her voice... It felt as though a dagger had been buried into his heart. The strength she so often seems to radiate now seems a distant memory. His chest feels heavy and for a moment he cannot breathe. He bites his lip, ever so slightly. He cannot wait for the day he can take this pain from her. His last moments, filled with the light burning his very being, before dying in the rift... It was an ill-fitting punishment. He deserves far worse.
The slightest nod is given at her request. It would be quite simple for him to get her some water. He would return in a moment. Even if his body feels heavy. If his heart feels like iron in his ribcage. But alas, before he turns away he sees that weak smile. And her words feel like that dagger being twisted in his heart. He turns away, desperate to conceal the despair. The guilt...
“I will only be a moment.” His voice shakes ever-so-slightly. He departs to get what she requested. Naturally, the inn has water ready for their guests. He needs only to retrieve it.
He does so halfheartedly. The exact exchange with the manager escapes his memory. His mind occupied with thoughts, his heart possessed by guilt. He returns shortly to her room. Taking slow steps to her side before extending his crystal arm toward her, glass in hand.
“Would that I could take your suffering.... That pain.... I would do so in a heartbeat.” The words are uttered softly, barely above a whisper. Words that jumped from his heart to his mouth, skipping his head. He should not have said them, yet they escaped from him nonetheless. He does blame himself, of course. He did this to her. Even if it had to be done, it doesn’t change that fact.

He had never seen it snow in Lakeland. He had got here after the light was already tainting the world. Long gone were the days of him enjoying this weather, if only because it gave an excuse to stay inside and read. It is not that he dislikes it now, he is just horribly unfamiliar with it. He did enjoy the sight, however. The rest of the city is at a loss. Most had never even seen snow in their lives. It felt odd, telling them how to deal with it. But now it had given way to celebration. Another gift given to them by the Warrior of Darkness.
It is not lost on him how cold the girl looks. He is outside simply because he was tired of speaking to others. It is rather exhausting, and now that his face had been exposed it seemed they truly forgot he was as old as he was.
“I am simply retreating from the others. Tis exhausting sometimes, to be around groups for too long.” He explains. “If you are cold, I would invite you inside. Mayhap we could have some warm tea or hot chocolate.” He knows she isn’t his biggest fan, but he would extend friendship to her regardless.
