                           “I KNOW.” because as sweet as she comes off as, sierra is not your naïve princess. “we’re... not good for each other. not healthy for each other. i know. i just...” why did she say anything? “thought i’d be honest.”

WELL SHE was pretty good at lying, wasn't she? but she had never been the best at lying to sean. it had irked her; how lies came so easily to her as breathing, but she stuttered and chokes on them whenever she was around him. "and i never planned to. i had no intention of taming you then." anyone who thought they could tame someone like sean was clearly in over their heads, and it was why she couldn't find herself being happy or even liking his girlfriend. manipulative and dishonest sierra may be, but she knew better than trying to change someone who didn't want to be changed. "is the sex even still that good? if it's not, you're way past the honeymoon phase," she remarked as she sipped on her wine again. she rolled her eyes at his question and shook her head. "we're not getting into that. can we agree to just forget that i said anything about a dream? please?"

"if you had, i would have had to call you a liar." the physical attraction between them had been electric, undeniable, a fire that still simmered. that's part of what made them being around each other hard. he constantly wanted to be close to sierra, to be latched to her side, and that wasn't appropriate anymore. but he had never been good at boundaries. or at changing who he was. his personality was static, stitched to him as foundationally as his bones. "it's not possible to tame me. you know that. i'm not a dog that can learn new tricks." he was far more of a stray, always flitting around and never building a home. "i think if we can push through the honeymoon phase, she'll settle and not be so...so much." he should just break up with her, yet something prevented him from doing so. some matter of pride, maybe. "so...about this dream you had. about us being back together. what exactly were we like in this dream world of yours?"

HONESTY WAS supposedly the best policy. she wouldn't know considering how often she has been lying to herself and the world. but she's heard it is in relationships, so she had tried to be honest with sean. that did mean that they were more prone to getting into arguments though, since they didn't always see eye to eye. but at least they didn't have to carry the weight of lying to each other, right? "that's quite the praise for your girlfriend; 'i like her' and 'she's got a great ass'," she smirked. she was honestly a little too happy to hear that. "then tell her that. that what you want is a rebound, not a serious relationship," sierra suggested, nails absentmindedly tapping against menu page as she looked at him. "what you want is a warm and willing hole to fuck; not a girlfriend. did you tell her that, though? or did you let her think you wanted to settle down and be serious?"

"I NEVER said that i hated it," sierra replied lightly, a little smirk on her lips. in fact, she had enjoyed it.. over and over again. she shouldn't be thinking about those particular things, since friends didn't do that sort of thing. but she can't be dismissive of it either, because it did happen. she hadn't been naïve enough to try and change sean when they first met, unlike his girlfriend. in fact, it seemed that all she had wanted was some harmless fun; then it developed into something more. but at the end of the day, they couldn't be together; they were far too different. his temper was not one she was capable of changing, which she had to learn the hard way. "well, it wasn't meant to be an underhanded shot at you. i'm just stating the truth. no one can change you... except for yourself," sierra explained, finger absentmindedly tracing the rim of her wine glass. "you're not a disappointment. she's the one who set herself up for disappointment by having expectations before she even tried to get to know you."

what could he say, he was a handsy guy? he offered up no excuses nor any regrets. "hey, for all the things that i did to you, it was never something that you didn't like," sean quipped, as even he respected boundaries. physical boundaries, anyway. the one thing that he had tried to change about sierra had been something outside of that, something outside of her control. the pressure that came from the constant scrutiny hadn't been one that they could overcome together. "you know, that could be seen as an underhanded shot at me." or both of them. neither had been willing to budge in the end. he ordered his grilled chicken breast and chugged his beer. "may as well shoot my shot though, right? maybe she'll give up on all of this nonsense eventually and come to realize that, well, i am a disappointment. and then she'll have no expectations. that i could work with."

SHE DOESN'T know whether she should pity his girlfriend or not. on one hand, she was the one who signed up for this. on the other hand, she could sympathize just a little bit because sierra had also gone through this phase with sean. "i do recall the many times you'd smack or grab my ass... amongst other things." because she was a lady, she's not going to say it out loud in public. but both of them knew what the other things were. and try as she could to suppress an amused smile, she can't fight against it. when the server came back with their drinks, sierra took a sip from her wine glass, before she placed her order of calamari and the seafood pasta. "well, she's going to be disappointed. i don't get anyone who thinks they can change someone once they're in a relationship." it's not just women, but men too.

the shrug of his arms and the coquettish smirk curling onto his face were telling as a response. sean wasn't taking the relationship seriously. sierra was well aware of what kind of man that he was, so none of this would likely come as a surprise to her. hell, he had acted similarly at the start of their tumultuous relationship. "i mean, you know how much of an ass guy i am," he quipped with an impish waggle of his brow, his grin growing when sierra amped up the vulgarity rather than turned up her nose about it. "it's not like i lied to her about anything. didn't outright say that this was a rebound thing or that i was just wanting to get my dick wet. but it's not like you and me started with the anticipation that we would be much of anything either." and they had wound up being everything to each other, no matter all the ups and downs. "she definitely knows i'm not marriage material." he scrunched his nose. "pretty sure she thinks she can change me."
