In One Piece, she is the quartermaster of Mira and the ship’s chef.  She is also Miyuki’s and Crimson’s introduction to Fishman Karate.  She is also their rest stop and to pretend they are a family of sisters.  To pretend they are regular people who have overcome their pasts and wish to live happily.  However, that changed when Crimson escaped instead of Miyuki, and Nerissa was tasked with keeping tabs on the Band of the Unseen.  Nerissa was thankful for Mira, but wary because she was a pirate and a different human.  However, Mira proved trustworthy, and Nerissa became the chef and quartermaster on the ship.

In the fandomless verse, Nerissa is a sharkmaid who is the chef and quartermaster of the crew.  She takes no shit and takes names in battle.  She warns Mira of the possible futility of their mission, but Mira is determined to turn the impossible possible.  A future Nerissa, battered, scarred, and correct, warns another pair of captain and first mate of a possible fate.
