the  kitchen's  a  disaster.  like  she's  cooking  eight  things  at  once.  she  hasn't  cooked  in  weeks  [...]  weird  for  her,  she  never  doesn't  cook.  even  when  she  was  a  kid.  actually,  even  when  our  parents  died,  she  cooked.  didn't  talk,  but  she'd  cook.  it's  the  following  a  recipe  for  her.  measuring,  pouring,  creating  a  plan  and  it  working  because  cooking  is  just  physics.  "it's  quantifiable  reactions",  that's  what  she  told  me  when  she  was  twelve.  the  results  don't  vary  if  you  follow  the  recipe.  i've  never  seen  her  cook  more  than  one  thing  at  a  time,  it'd  feel  counter-intuitive  for  her  because  she  does  it  for  the  method,  and  here  she's  darting  from  countertop  to  countertop,  bowl  to  bowl,  spoons  everywhere,  burners  left  on,  oven  door  cracked  open — she'd  never  do  that  if  she  was  fine,  but  i  guess  that's  the  point. she's  not.
