𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑   𝐇𝐀𝐒   𝐇𝐄   𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍   𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐍    quite  like  this      /      a  white  -  hot  fist  that  grips  his  chest  and   SQUEEZES   the  air  from  his  lungs  with  its  intensity.  a  century  of  living  above  the  mortal  means  of  humans  and  lowlife  sinners  had,  perhaps,  clouded  his  logic,  making  him  believe  that   𝙼𝙾𝚁𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙸𝚃𝚈   &.   𝙷𝚄𝙼𝙰𝙽𝙸𝚃𝚈   𝚆𝙾𝚄𝙻𝙳   𝙽𝙴𝚅𝙴𝚁   𝚃𝙰𝙸𝙽𝚃   𝙷𝙸𝚂   𝙵𝙻𝙴𝚂𝙷   again. 

but  here  he  was   :   one  strike  from  an  angelic  blade,  one  strike  from  a  rightous  hand.   𝐓𝐇𝐄   𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄   𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒   𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃   &.   the  god-like  becomes  mortal.     (   and   CHRIST   does   it   hurt.   )      his  chest,  sliced  like  meat  from  his  sternum  to  his  upper  stomach  in  a  diagonal  fashion,  does  not  close  the  way  it’s  supposed  to.   wounds  of  such  caliber  were  meant  to  close  up  after  a  few  days  on  a  demonic  body   ;   BUT   ALASTOR   IS   NO   IDIOT.   the  way  the  clean  -  cut  edges  of  the  wound   GLIMMER   with  a  faint,  golden  hue  spells  all  he  needs  to  know.  this  wound  would  not  close  on  its  own.

BUT   THAT   DOESN’T   MEAN   HE   WON’T   TRY.   in  fact,   try   is  all  he  knows  how  to  do.  shaky  hands  redo  the  stitches  each  morning,  mopping  up  sticky,  half-dried  blood  from  the  flesh  around  the  wound  with  a  towel  soaked  in  whiskey.  his  chest  was  then  wrapped  with  bandages  tight  enough  to  restrict  his  own  breathing,  thick  and  unyielding,  keeping  blood  from  soaking  into  his  clothes  when  the  stiching   INEVITABLY   SNAPPED   APART.  

even  still,  the  pain  remains.  it  seeps  into  his  entire  body  like  a  poison,  running  hot  through  his  bloodstream.  a  less  destructive  man  might’ve  recognized  the  first  signs  of  an   INFECTION   beginning  to  form     :     alastor  had  begun  to  run  cold,  forehead  dotted  with  sweat  and  body  racked  with  thick  bouts  of  tremors  so  strong  that  he  would  drop  whatever  he  was  holding.  his  hands   𝚂𝙷𝙾𝙾𝙺   𝙽𝙴𝙰𝚁   𝙲𝙾𝙽𝚂𝚃𝙰𝙽𝚃𝙻𝚈,   a  byproduct  of  the  pain   &.   the  fever  that  coursed  through  him     /     a  fever  he  couldn’t  manage  to  shake,  despite  forcing  himself  to  grow  distant  from  the  princess  &.  her  seemingly  neverending  list  of  requests  for  the  new, updated hotel.

𝐈𝐓   𝐈𝐒   𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄   𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓   𝐇𝐄   𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐏𝐒   𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘   ;   charlie  had  asked  him  about  something   (   voice  sounding  thick  &.  heavy,  as  if  she  spoke  to  him  from  underwater,  and  for  a  vague  and  terrifying  moment,  he  wonders  if  he’s  about  to  faint   )   and  alastor  felt  the  nauseating   POP   of  his  stitches  coming  undone  again.  his  handiwork  had  become  increasingly  sloppy.  he  remarks  that  he  promises  to  get  to  it   /   then   SLIPS   INTO   THE   HALLWAY,   feeling  the  hot,  sticky  sensation  of  blood  beginning  to  seep  into  the  fabric  of  his  undershirt.
