“Katherine.” Kronos whispers into the girl’s early morning dreams on the day of the 31st. It is mere months since the battle in her city took place, so it makes his head hurt to expend this much energy, but… he has a reason.

“Is it true that you mortals blow explosives into the sky tonight?”

"Well yes. Everyone does so when a new year has started. Right at midnight. I know the camp does so too. Sometimes I go in the lake...the sound gets to be far too much for me, but I like seeing the colors light up the sky." She replied. "They just set off way too many of them at the same time. Get overly excited."

"Sparklers are usually what I go for. Basically a mini firework that you can safely hold since its on a stick." Wait why was he bothering her? "....Is there a reason for your curiosity, Kronos?"

Usually golden meant that everything was perfect, but how the history of that era was told made it sound like dreadful obsidian. Well, the whole thing about Kronos eating his children and getting sliced into pieces was a horror story in itself. Everything else was…overlooked? How perfect was it truly? Perhaps he was telling lies to make it seem better.

"I've seen artwork of the punishment…. gruesome yes…but I can understand why. I wouldn't want to be stuck in a dark place for all eternity. So chopping you up seemed reasonable enough."

Hah! Time healing things.... Hmn... that much was true, it did take time to feel better after a troubling life event. It made sense to check on family, see how they where doing when something horrible happened.

"I don't need to be checked upon…..the gods don't do it so why should you care to?" Her tone was filled with venom, rage that was deep down inside and boiling. She shook her head a few times before looking away from the shadows. "I shouldn't even be talking to you. So go away." Don't leave.

"'Ruin the world.'" Kronos sighs. "That is what my son would say, isn't it? Do you know what life was like when I sat on the throne? They do call it a golden age of humanity for a reason... But I suppose Chiron won't tell you about that, will he? He is not the impartial force that he pretends to be; he chose the side of the gods who make life harder for demigods, after all. I suspect he feels it makes him useful, at the expense of his students."

The titan has yet to reveal himself beyond shadow. He wonders if whatever kindness he plays at showing her is ruined by it.

"Katherine... have you ever seen what they've done to me? It is not benevolent. I am... extremely difficult to look at. That's what the gods do best: punishment. But Time has no use for things like that; Time heals.

"That is why I check on my family. Eventually, all of the sorrow that my children have caused will be healed up by me."
