Bond of Steel
Pairing: Reader x Super friends, Alex Danvers x fem!reader (just some "more than friends" tension)
Summary: After Kara has a bad run-in with a super villain, it pulls you off of medical leave to go kick some villain butt, but you both end up learning a valuable lesson.
********************************************************
"Well if we approach from..." you stood around the table with Alex, Wyn, and Jon talking strategy for how to take down the latest threat to national city, with you still recovering from an injury Kara is by herself.
"Alex?... Y/N?..." you heard a breathy and tired voice call out to you, you could hear the heavy shuffling of feet. Turning you were met with a very beaten and battered Kara, your stomach flipped as you looked her over, she was barely standing in front of you cape torn, suit covered in slashes and blood, dirt covering every inch of her.
"Someone get me a gurney over here... NOW!" you commanded, of course staff scurried at the sound of your voice. You trotted over to Kara, turning into a sprint and dive as she started to fall and you caught her, Alex was on your heels tears threatening to fill her eyes as she overlooked her sister, scratches, cuts, and bruises covered her features. You looked down at her torso pressing your hand over hers to hold pressure on the large gash covering her side, blood seeping through her fingers into your hand, you pulled her closer to your body. Two agents rushed over with a gurney and you picked her up placing her on it, she let out a small groan of pain turning towards Alex as you started to rush her to the med bay.
"Someone page Superman!" you called out before leaving the room, you saw all devices coming into hands as everyone jumped at your command.
"She won, she almost killed me..." she whimpered out, you heard her and you could feel your powers going dark, you could feel it flooding back to you, all the memories of when you were an assassin before they rescued you.
"Hold on Kara just hold on..." you whispered to her.
15 minutes later and she was hooked up to every monitor and had special sun lamps on her allowing her to heal, you stood in the hallway looking through the glass doors. Alex walked up next to you, "Is she going to be okay?"
"She's definitely a fighter, we got a transfusion from her cousin and that should help. I should've been there..." you turned to look into her eyes and she saw the green in your eyes deepen.
"Y/N you just got back from a bad injury, I thought I was going to lose you, and you're almost unbreakable... there was no way for us to know that was going to happen."
"I could've helped, pulled her out early, then she wouldn't be laying here like this." you turned back towards her, watching as her chest rose and fell, it killed you to know that one of the Danvers family was hurting like that.
"Y/N..." Alex said softly, stepping forward to wrap an arm around you, leaning her head into your shoulder.
"Here." you said opening your arms to her, she hugged you tears falling as she hid in your neck, you rubbed a hand on her back soothing her until she pulled away eyes red.
"Let me take you back."
"I don't wanna leave her, and I can't go home..."
"You're no good to her here, let me take you to my place." she looked into your eyes and slowly agreed. the car ride back was fairly quiet, even as you pulled up and went into the house, she went right into your bedroom, you put your jackets away and threw your keys into the bowl on your kitchen island grabbing a bottle of water and making your way upstairs. You found a very tired Alex passed out in your bed, lights still on, she had found pajama pants and one of your old college hoodies in your closet and fallen asleep in them. Little did you know that your scent and the warmth was comforting for her, she felt safe, protected. you crawled in next to her after turning the lights out and felt as she gradually moved closer to you.
In the morning you were up before her and down in your kitchen making coffee, she rounded the corner, hair disheveled and plopped herself at your breakfast bar. there wasn't much talking before you changed, grabbing her a change of clothes, it wasn't the first time she had stayed so you made sure to keep so DEO basic uniform items at your place for emergencies.
When you got to work her first instinct was to be by her sisters side after hearing that she was awake and asking for her, Jon took you aside to give you updates, by the time Alex returned she found that you were suited up and in the field.
"Y-Y/N you idiot get back here..." Alex said over your intercoms.
"Alex, stay out of it."
"No Y/N don't do this she almost killed Kara."
"and that was her one chance she won't get another." you said before gently landing on the top of the building. You saw the other woman across the roof from you her royal purple suit a stark contrast to the grey industrial buildings surrounding you, "Eclipse."
"Ahh there she is Apex the infamous hero that fights side by side with Supergirl, do tell is she still breathing?" She said looking over your form, "she's fine" you growled
"Protective... I'm really gonna hate to do this then." you watched her, pace in front of you, your facial expression serious and unchanging, "you know you're too pretty to die, but doesn't mean I can't damage the great and mighty hero."
"I would like to see you try..."
"Try... darling I keep my word."
"That's what the last one said." you smirked seeing the flame light behind her eyes, "Ugh I hate arrogant heroes, but I can fix that..." she said rushing towards you, you let her hit you at the waist and pushed you off the building, you free fell, you quickly flipped and landed on your feet as she tumbled on the ground next to you, you walked over picking her up, but she landed a punch, causing you to stumble back, that when the fist fight started, punch for punch, catching them but the occasional catching you off guard. You both landed punches threw things, ran up sides of buildings, causing mass destruction, after one particular dodge you pivoted back, hearing the screeching of brakes as cars tried to stop, landing one last hard hit you knocked her back, speeding over to stop a large black SUV that wasn't going to stop in time, you ran around helping out a young expectant mother and walking her out of the way.
"Here, stay here you'll be safe."
"Thank yo-watch out." Before you could turn around to react, you turned enough and suddenly she had her hand around your neck picking you up and flying towards a tall glass building she dropped you sending you sliding through the glass and into the offices.
"Ugh..." you tried moving feeling pain start to set in. Before you could move she came flying back through the building picking you up and flying you through more walls, making back into open sky she dropped you right through a solid statue in the city center, you laid there the dust settling around you, feeling the cuts and bruises on your body, she stood over top you in the broken rubble.
"See I told you, I break heroes like you." she laughed before turning around to walk away, instead of accepting defeat you stood.
"who said you broke me?" you shot back in a whisper, she whipped around seeing you standing there dust still clearing.
"whatever doesn't kill you, eventually will...isn't that how that quote goes." she said teasing you.
"Whatever doesn't kill me better run, cause now I'm pissed." you said flying like a bullet towards her, landing hit after hit not giving her time to react, that was until she laid motionless before you, she was still breathing but you stood up walking over to the DEO team and laying her down, you quickly flew off. You landed on the verge of the DEO compound, stumbling through as the glass closed behind you, Alex rushed to your side as you collapsed.
Next time you opened your eyes, you were met by dimmed hospital lights, you stood and looked around, pulling out your IV and getting dressed. a nurse walked in quickly dropping the ipad she was holding before running back out of the room, moments later you heard rushed footsteps as Alex rushed into the room, "Y/N!" she said wrapping her arms around your neck.
"Hey," you said softly.
"I thought I lost you..."
"you can-..." before you could finish she pulled you into a kiss, at first surprising you but then you leaned into it.
"Alex?" you said sort of confused.
"I'm sorry, just don't ever do that to me again, you might be an idiot and think you're invincible but that just makes you my idiot and I can't lose you." she said not sure about making eye contact.
"Don't apologize, it's about time... sleeping at my house, your own drawer I mean come on, I'm not going anywhere." you said with a chuckle.
“shut up” she said tears filling her eyes, she jabbed softly at your side knowing you still felt some pain.
“hey..” you protested, leaning down to nip softly at her neck.
“hey whoa…” you heard Kara’s voice filling the room, “my sister and best friend, no… no ma’am please…”
“hey Kara.” Alex said laughing, before moving aside so she could hug you.
“hey.” You whispered as she squeezed you tight.
“You’re an idiot.”
“Me? For what?!”
“for going alone…”
“nothing i haven’t told her.” Said Alex.
“yea well I think there was a little more heat when you did it…” Kara poked, “you didn’t have to, you could’ve waited.”
“waited for her to come after you again, no chance in hell… I would give my life for this family, no way anyone will ever break that bond and it’s gonna take a lot more than that to kill me… just next time know that no matter what we fight together.”
“Bond of Steel, unbroken.” She said before hugging you again, “now I wanna know what I interrupted earlier and if it’s gonna result in a wedding and maybe some nieces and nephews?”
“oh God Kara…” Alex started blushing hard.
“haha how about in time…” you said laughing as you corralled them out of the room, “all in time.” You smiled down at Alex who was tucked under your strong arm.

It wasn’t entirely unusual for Kara to visit Lena at work.
What was unusual, however, was Supergirl barreling headfirst through a plate glass window into the conference room while Lena was personally welcoming the newest group of L-Corp interns.
Lena stood at the front of the conference room, heart thundering in her chest, as Kara rolled around on the floor for a long moment before standing and whipping her cape over her head.
“Whoopsie-daisy!” Supergirl exclaimed in a sing-song voice not entirely appropriate for the amount of destruction she had just caused. She looked around the room with wide eyes before her gaze landed on her wife. “Lena!”
“K— Supergirl,” Lena huffed as the Kryptonian hugged her, squeezing just a bit too tightly for Lena’s human rib cage. “Are you alright?”
“Just peachy,” Kara replied. “You smell nice.”
“Supergirl,” Lena muttered as Kara inhaled deeply into Lena’s hair. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing,” Kara said innocently. “Ooo, what’s that?”
Lena looked up and realized that she had squeezed the laser pointer in her hand, and the small red dot was moving across the screen behind her. Kara released her from her hug and backed up, sticking her tongue out and furrowing her brow in concentration before launching herself at the wall. Lena’s wrist flicked in surprise, sending the little red dot across the wall and onto the ceiling. Kara, unrestrained by the laws of gravity, took off after the dot, and in doing so sent the projector screen to the floor with a loud crash.
“Miss Luthor?”
Lena looked away from the chaotic Kryptonian as her assistant poked her head into the room. “Jess, I’m not sure now is the time…”
“Agent Danvers is on Line One,” Jess told her, but she was watching as Kara chased the laser pointer into a corner, knocking over a potted plant in the process.
“Right,” Lena replied. She looked back at the dozen interns currently watching National City’s heroine pouncing on a red dot. “Okay, I think everyone should head to lunch a bit early. Orientation will resume at one thirty with your department heads.”
The young scientists didn’t even grumble as they shuffled out of the room.
“Here, keep her occupied,” Lena instructed, handing over the laser pointer to Jess as she stepped into the lobby to take the phone call. “Alex?”
“Heeeeey, Lena,” Alex answered, raising Lena’s suspicions. “I don’t want to alarm you, but, um, have you seen…?”
“Have I seen my wife? Yes, she crashed through the window into my conference room about three minutes ago, and now Jess is… entertaining her,” Lena replied, peering into the next room. In fact, Jess might’ve been having a bit too much fun leading Kara around the room using the laser pointer. Lena sighed and focused her attention back to the phone call.
“Oh, good, good,” Alex replied. “Does she seem a little… off?”
“If by off you mean high as a kite, then yes, I’d say she’s a little off,” Lena told her. “Care to explain?”
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line and Lena could practically hear Alex trying to formulate her response. “Well, the team got a call from the NC Botanical Gardens about this plant that somebody donated that they couldn’t identify and it turned out to be alien and while they were inspecting it, the plant shot some kind of pollen in their faces.”
“Some kind of pollen?” Lena interrupted. “Is it dangerous?”
“I don’t think so,” Alex replied. “It affected them all differently. J’onn passed out immediately— he’s fine, he’s sleeping it off in the infirmary. Brainy is acting like he’s had fifteen shots of espresso— he’s currently reprogramming the Roomba for combat. It didn’t affect Nia at all, probably because she’s half human. Kara flew off before I could really get an idea of how it was affecting her, but you say she’s… high? How so?”
Lena looked back into the other room to see that Kara was lying on her back beneath the broken potted palm, slapping playfully at the fronds and giggling. She really only had one comparison she could make.
When she was seven years old, Lionel had brought home a kitten as a pet. A little black and white fluff ball with a flat face, Lena had named her Duchess. Lena had doted on the cat until Lillian sent her away to boarding school, and she wasn’t entirely sure what became of it after that. One distinct memory of the cat came to mind now. She had given Duchess a catnip-stuffed toy, and the normally refined feline had spent hours rolling around on the toy, carrying it from room to room, pupils dilated, completely relaxed, stoned out of her mind.
That was exactly what Kara looked like now.
“Are you telling me my sister is—“
“Basically a human-shaped cat at the moment? Mmhmm,” Lena confirmed.
Alex let out a long-suffering sigh on the other end of the phone. “Okay, we need to get her someplace safe where she can’t do any damage until the chemicals get out of her system.”
“If I can get her home, I can turn on the red sun lamps in the bedroom,” Lena replied.
“Every time I try to forget that you had those installed, you just have to remind me,” Alex grumbled. “But yeah, good idea. Take her home, make her shower to get any excess pollen off, and then just lock her in the bedroom until it wears off.”
“Okay, I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.”
Lena made her way back to the conference room where Kara was hiding behind the edge of the table, eyeing the laser pointer on the wall yet again, and Jess was smiling gleefully as she slowly moved the light in circles around on the wall.
“Okay, I hate to break up the fun, but hand over the laser pointer,” Lena said, holding her hand out expectantly.
“Awwwww,” Jess groused.
“Jessica,” Lena warned.
Jess sighed and gave her the device. “Fine.”
“Thank you,” Lena told her. “I’m gonna need you to—“
“Cancel your meetings for the rest of the day and have facilities come clean up this mess and replace the window?” Jess supplied. “On it, boss.”
“Now I remember why I hired you,” Lena said with a grin. “Come on, Kara, darling, we’re going home.”
“But—“ Kara began to argue, only to stop when Lena aimed the laser pointer at the door.
Lena managed to get the pouncing Kryptonian into the elevator, downstairs, and through the lobby with minimal incident and only one bent elevator panel of destruction. What Lena hadn’t realized, however, was that once they were outside, the bright midday sunlight made the laser pointer’s dot near-impossible to see, even for Kryptonian eyes. The city itself, however, offered plenty of things to distract Kara away from the town car on the curb.
“Ooo, look, Lena!” Kara exclaimed. “Kebabs!”
Lena grabbed Kara’s cape in an attempt to stop her, but that only resulted in her being dragged across the sidewalk towards a falafel stand. Once they were at the front of the line, Lena bought several servings of kebabs and grabbed them all up before Kara could get hold of them.
“Nuh-uh,” Lena chastised. “You only get kebabs if you get in the car. Deal?”
Kara pouted, but she reluctantly cooperated. Once they were in the car, Lena instructed George to take them to her penthouse. When they reached the apartment building, however, there was an ice cream truck serendipitously stationed on the corner, and Kara pointedly refused to enter the building without getting ice cream. Lena couldn’t help but scowl as she paid for a heaping cone of Kara’s favorite chocolate swirl. Her dour mood couldn’t last, however, with Kara happily lapping at her ice cream cone as the elevator made its way to the top floor.
Once inside their apartment, it wasn’t difficult to get Kara into the bedroom, and once she was there Lena immediately hit the button that switched on the red sun lamps and locked down all of the windows and doors. The room was awash in a coppery glow, and Kara immediately sank down on the foot of the bed.
“Whoa!” she exclaimed woozily.
“You okay?” Lena asked, immediately concerned.
“Yeah, just really sleepy all of a sudden,” Kara replied, and then she yawned in further confirmation. She stretched her arms high over her head, the remainder of her ice cream cone tipping precariously.
“Easy there,” Lena warned, pulling the offending dessert back down to face-level. “Why don’t you finish that up while I get the shower going, and then after that you can take a nap. Sound good?”
“Will you nap with me?” Kara asked pitifully
“Of course,” Lena replied. After the last half hour, she certainly felt like she needed a nap herself.
Kara finished the ice cream quickly, as Lena collected towels and pajamas. She managed to get Kara out of her super suit and into the shower without using the laser pointer or bribing her with food. For a moment Lena felt quite successful— until Kara reached out and yanked Lena, fully clothed, under the spray.
“Kara!” Lena sputtered.
Kara just giggled, eyes fixated south of Lena’s face as her white blouse became more and more transparent. “Hehe… tiddies.”
Lena put her fingers underneath Kara’s chin and pushed her face up until she met her gaze. “Eyes up here, Danvers.”
By the time she got Kara out of the shower her wife was practically falling asleep standing up. Lena managed to get Kara’s blonde hair mostly dried and forced her into a t-shirt and pajama shorts before she staggered to the bed.
“Just gonna close my eyes for a bit,” Kara murmured as she cuddled into a pillow.
“You do that, darling,” Lena chuckled. Then she made her way back to the bathroom. She cleaned up the puddles of water, dried her hair, and put on her own pajamas before returning to the bedroom.
She blinked at the sight that greeted her. In the ten minutes she had taken in the bathroom, Kara had raided their closet for all of the pillows, blankets, and extra comforters, and had used those to construct a round fort on their king-size bed.
“Kara?” Lena called hesitantly, and a blonde head appeared over the top of the nest.
“Lena!” Kara exclaimed, reaching toward her with grabby hands.
Lena went willingly, climbing carefully over the blankets and into the red-tinted pillow fort Kara had created. Once she was inside, Kara tucked a blanket over her and then curled into her body, resting practically on top of her as her head found Lena’s chest for a pillow.
“Mmm, this okay?” Kara asked.
Lena sighed, moving a bit until her body fit even better against Kara’s. “This is good.”
“Yeah,” Kara sighed. “You’re so soft. Love you.”
Lena stroked her hair and let out a sigh of her own. “Love you, too.”

A Night at Lena’s
The sequel to A Night at The Lux. Roll the hype text!
A night of talking leads to something more between Kara and Lena after the blonde hero’s revelations at Lux and her gift of everything to the raven-haired beauty.
It felt weird being on Lena’s couch again since it had been a while since she’d been in the woman’s apartment, but it wasn’t an unwelcome feeling of weirdness. Having taken off her cape, it was draped over a nearby chair and she had left the front of her suit open because she felt very hot for some reason. The rose she’d brought was in an old wine bottle and the small crystal reader was on the coffee table in front of them. Chewing on her bottom lip she watched Lena starting the video of her belting out Total Eclipse of the Heart with Lucifer playing the piano at Lux the night before.
Lena’s flawless features were hard to read, she saw an almost smile at the start of the video and then the raven-haired beauty gasped when she heard her confession that she was her very special girl. Lena glanced up at her and then looked back down at the phone in her shaking hands.
It was hard to stay quiet, but she knew she had to allow Lena to finish watching the video and instead she started working on what she was going to say next. Truth be told her plan hadn’t gone beyond the basics of show up, give Lena the crystal, the rose, and a passionate speech. Now she was here, sitting almost next to the prettiest girl she’d ever met which she now knew she wanted to be more than friends with.
The video ended and Lena put her phone down with shaking hands before turning to face her. The silence was killing her, she wanted to say something, she did words good after all but Lena had to go first.
“Why… why didn’t you say anything before now?” Lena asked looking up at her with her green eyes glistening and they carried in them a mixture of sadness and hope.
“I… didn’t know how deeply I felt for you. Not until someone helped me see things in a new light,” she answered and Lena scooted closer to her on the couch.
“Someone?” the raven-haired beauty asked with a raised eyebrow and she fought back a gulp. Was Lena jealous? Was she being teased?
“I got dragged to this club called Lux in L.A. by some of the other reporters and the owner… well he has a way of making you admit things to yourself. That was him on the piano,” she explained and put her hand on the couch between them.
“So… you’ve never been with a girl?” Lena asked and put her hand down close to hers, but they weren’t touching yet.
“I… on Krypton things were different and when I came to Earth I was told not to draw attention to myself… but no I haven’t,“ she said thinking back to her confusing teenage years in Midvale and how it was simply easier to act like everyone else.
“Well I have been, but I’ve had to be discreet, even James was a cover of sorts, but it was hard because you were there… always there,” Lena said softly and the ex-CEO reached out, brushing her fingertips against hers.
“I’m sorry, I know I hurt you so much and…” she started apologizing again, but with a speed that surprised her, Lena was up against her and pushing a finger with a perfectly manicured nail to her lips.
“Stop it! Please stop it, Kara! We messed up, both of us messed up a lot but being mad at you is a waste of time and energy and…” Lena started chastising her for apologizing again, but she wasn’t Kara Danvers wallflower right now she was Kara Zor-El the fearless superhero.
“And that’s not how you do things, is it?” she asked taking a gentle, yet firm hold of Lena’s wrist and pulling the finger away from her lips.
“No, no I don’t, I move forward,” the raven-haired genius said firmly but there was a slight hitch to her voice, and she dropped her grip on Lena’s hand worried that she’d scared her.
“I love that about you, you drive, your genius, your passion,” she said as they looked at each other with Lena put her hand on top of hers again.
“But why didn’t you notice me?” Lena asked with a small voice after a moment of silence passed between them. Oh boy, this one was the hard one and she knew it.
“I should have noticed what you were doing. I mean it was so freaking obvious, but I was too caught up in being Supergirl… being the good girl, the straight girl and you have this aura of danger about you,” she admitted and felt herself blushing.
“Dangerous, me?” Lena asked with a small laugh and again that eyebrow went up which made her blush harder.
“Have you seen yourself! Power-suits, amazing dresses, that confidence, your lipstick, and smirks. You can be terrifying when you want to be. Especially to someone who was so deep in the closet that it took the Devil himself to bring her out,” she blurted out and that made Lena bring her hand up to her lips and place a kiss on it.
“Go on…” the green-eyed goddess urged her and flashed her a small smile while politely ignoring the Devil part.
“But it’s not just your swagger I guess, you have such an amazingly kind heart and you’re so smart, like… so incredibly smart and I have all this stuff I’ve been wanting to talk to you about,” she kept praising the woman and it came easy.
“Now why couldn’t you have said that three years ago?” Lena asked her voice back to its usual husky tones and she felt a pang of loss when the green-eyed genius pulled her pale hand away.
“I wish I had, but I’m doing it now,” she said firmly and watched as Lena stood up. The raven-haired beauty sauntered over to a nearby liquor cabinet and poured herself a drink. Scotch from the look of it, brought the glass to her red lips as she found herself staring and not for the first time.
“Sing for me,” Lena said and took a sip while looking at her over the rim of the glass. That took her by surprise, but if Lena wanted her to sing, she would sing.
“I… umm… okay, any requests?” she said and stood up, smoothing down the front of her Supergirl suit and clearing her throat.
“Surprise me,” Lena chuckled and took another sip of her drink.
Thinking for a moment, she took a deep breath, before launching into an acapella version of How Long Will I Love You. The nerves were real as Lena watched her with an inscrutable look on her pale face. Allowing herself to sway back and forth she couldn’t help but smile as she reached the end of the song.
“How long will I love you As long as stars are above you And longer if I may How long will I love you? As long as stars are above you”
Lena gave her a long look and drained her drink. Then reaching behind her head the raven-haired beauty pulled out her ponytail and shook out her hair. Keep your cool Zor-El, she reminded herself, but she was staring, hard.
“Come here,” Lena ordered her with firmness to her husky voice that compelled her to take a step forward.
“Lena…” she started speaking but the ex-CEO actually shushed her with a raised finger, and she clamped her mouth shut.
“Come… here,” Lena said again while pointing to the floor in front of her, and she felt like she was being drawn forward as if compelled by some unseen force until they were face to face.
“Good, now I’m going to talk and you’re going to listen,” the raven-haired beauty told her, and she gave a muted nod.
“I will let you off the hook on the following conditions. Number one, no more secrets,” Lena started, sounding like she was in a boardroom making a deal and again she nodded because Rao it was hard to speak when being stared down by Lena in full bad-ass businesswoman mode.
“Number two, you have to take me out on a date and it better be good,” her recently realized three-year-long crush went on.
“Yes of course,” she blurted out and the wheels in her head were already turning. This was her chance, do all those things she’d dreamed of doing as a teenager but been too afraid to put into practice.
“Number three… put your glasses on please,” Lena paused and fumbling around in her suit she founded her glasses before slipping them on.
“There is my Kara… and number four, well we’ve got to see if this works…” Lena’s voice trailed off as she put both of her soft pale hands on her face.
“Great Rao…” she whispered in shocked surprise as Lena brought those ruby-red lips to hers and staying still got much harder as she fidgeted with her hands, unsure of what to do with them.
Lena got up on her toes and kissed her more deeply, right away the fireworks exploded in her head and she couldn’t hold herself back any longer. Bringing her hands to Lena’s hips she pulled the raven-haired woman closer and kissed her back. Lena’s lips moving against her was like nothing she’d ever experienced on either Krypton or any Earth, it was like unfiltered sunshine. In her excitement, she easily lifted the raven-haired woman of the floor and she heard her give small giggle into the kiss.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized breaking the kiss but didn’t put Lena back down yet. Holding Lena felt too gosh darn good and she’d wanted to do this for as long as she could get away with it.
“Don’t be,” Lena laughed and ran her hands up and down her arms. On reflex, she flexed her muscles which made Lena give an appreciative smile.
“God you’re strong,” it was Lena’s turn to blurt out something embarrassing and she gave another flex of her biceps.
“But we sort of suck at talking though,” she joked and the smile that lit up Lena’s face made her heart beat faster.
“Did you really think about me during the Crisis?” Lena asked and she gently lowered the woman to the ground but kept her hands on those curvy hips she’d watched sway back and forth for three years.
“I did, all the time, whenever things were dire, I thought about you,” she admitted and smiled back at Lena who kept her hands on her arms.
“That’s sweet but knowing you I shouldn’t be too surprised. You care about everyone,” Lena said and there was a softness to the woman she’d not seen in a long time.
“You’re not everyone, you’re my everything, so… umm did it work, because it worked for me like I’ve got a lot of working going on after that,” she blurted out and Lena gave a very happy laugh as her entire face lit up with joy.
“I liked kissing you too,” the ex-CEO admitted and put her arms around her neck, swaying back and forth.
With her hands still on Lena’s hips, she had an idea, it was a cute idea, but she wasn’t sure if Lena would go for it just yet. Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
“Can you… put some music on, please?” she asked the raven-haired beauty and that earned her another smirk.
“Hope, play something romantic and sappy,” Lena ordered some unseen computer program and soft music filled the apartment.
“I’m not sappy,” she protested but that earned her a disbelieving laugh from Lena before they started swaying together.
“I disagree, darling, you are the sappiest puppy dog I’ve ever met. The music is playing, what now?” Lena asked and there was something to her voice, maybe it had always been there, and she was hearing it for the first time. But she was sure Lena didn’t talk to anyone but her like that.
“Stand on my feet and hold on tight,” she instructed her, and Lena carefully stepped on her feet while tightening the grip around her neck.
“Don’t worry I won’t break,” she said when she felt that Lena was being careful with her grip, but she was the Girl of Steel.
“What are you going to do?” Lena asked curiously and in response, she started rising from the floor while slowly spinning them around.
“Oh god!” Lena gasped when they were a foot above the floor. Of course, she’d flown with Lena in her arms before, but nothing like this.
“I got you,” she whispered into her ear and kept floating them around the apartment to the rhythm of the music.
“I know,” Lena whispered back and so far, this night wasn’t going too bad as they danced together.
With Lena holding onto her they danced on the air, she felt the woman’s head resting on her shoulder and in response, she pulled her in closer. Feeling her heart beating like a drum she felt Lena’s lips brush against her ear and the raven-haired goddess whispered: “Relax…” The song ended and she was loath to go back to the floor. Flying with Lena felt nice and she didn’t want to let go.
“When I found out about you, I was so angry at first,” Lena admitted when she didn’t speak and squeezed her tight.
“I know and it hurt me, seeing you so angry,” she whispered back and after another moment of comfortable silence started lowering them back down to the floor.
“Don’t… not yet…I like flying with you… I missed it,” Lena whispered when she felt them descending towards the floor.
“In that case… can I show you something, outside?” she asked, and Lena looked into her eyes, giving her a quick nod.
Picking Lena up in a bridal carry she floated them towards the balcony doors and slid them open without putting her precious cargo down. Then she rose into the sky, higher and higher until they were far above the rooftops of National City.
“You see that star, top right from the Moon, not far from Jupiter?” she asked looking towards the stars and Lena’s green eyes followed her line of sight.
“Yes, is that…” Lena trailed off and she felt a tear running down her cheeks, this was something she’d never shown anyone.
“Yes, that is Krypton’s sun, that’s where I’m from,” she said with her voice choking up and Lena hugged her tighter.
“You’ve never shown that to anyone, have you?” Lena asked and even after the distance between them the woman still knew her so well.
“No, only to you now, when I promised you everything, I meant it,” she whispered softly and despite how well things were going she was still afraid she’d mess this up somehow.
“Fuck! Why do you have to be so sweet,” Lena cursed, and she gave the woman a curious look but instead she was kissed hard in mid-air.
“Why the cursing?” she asked with a smile as she floated them back down to the balcony below.
“Because I’m trying to go slow with you but it’s hard when you keep doing things like this,” Lena admitted when they touched back down on the balcony and jumped down from her arms.
“Hey, we don’t have to rush into anything. Trust me, I do want to make up for all the time we lost too,” she tried to stay the course, be the stronger person and do the right thing. She was Supergirl after all.
“I know, but you’re Kara, you’re so pure and sweet and this would be your first time and I don’t want to pressure you,” Lena tried to explain herself and there was a softness to the woman now and she gulped at the implication of her words.
“Hey, I said we would talk all night, but if you don’t want to talk than we don’t have too… I… I can rush things a bit if you want,” she said and now she was nervous, she’d never done this before.
“Come with me,” Lena said without missing a beat, took her by the hand and again she allowed herself to be led inside.
Lena led her through the living room and into the white decorated bedroom. Oh, crap she was in Lena Luthor’s bedroom in her Supergirl suit with her glasses on and at no point did she expect the night to turn out quite like this.
“Lena…” she tried to speak again but the green-eyed beauty cut her off before she could ask the woman if she was sure about this.
“We’ve known each other for three years, Kara, been through hell together. We don’t need to talk, but I also know that you’ve never done this before either,” Lena spoke with that same softness again while running those delicate hands over her shoulders. The fact the Lene was being slow and gentle showed how much the woman cared about her and when she thought about how this would be her first time, it made her pulse quicken.
“I… want to do this right too… because you’re my Sun and… gosh, you’re freaking beautiful! Like that I’m even here with you is more than I ever hoped for and…” she started babbling when Lena pushed her against the wall, well she allowed Lena to push her against the wall because she was caught by surprise.
“Stop being so god damn sweet,” the raven-haired woman all but growled and kissed her, but this time it was hard and hungry, and she had no choice but to allow Lena to take charge.
Lena’s hands were all over her, pulling at her suit, running through her hair and then she felt the woman’s tongue demanding entry against her lips. Letting Lena ravish her was the easiest decision of her life and soon she was grabbing at the woman’s hips for dear life. Three years of built-up tension exploded between them at long last.
“Show them to me,” Lena said pulling off her glasses and stroking her face while looking into her eyes.
“Show you what?” she asked feeling out of breath from the making out and her suit was pulled even more open.
“Your heat-vision eyes… show me them,” the green-eyed goddess asked with her voice breathy and pressed herself against her.
“I… okay…” she stammered and closed and opened her eyes, so they glowed red and it actually made Lena moan.
“You have any idea how hot you look when you do that?” Lena asked and she shook her head, she’d never even imagined that her heat-vision would be a turn-on.
“No…” she whispered shyly and with her eyes still glowing kissed the woman again and it was her turn to take charge.
Kissing Lena with all her pent-up emotions she was soon pawing and pulling at Lena’s dress, she wanted to touch, to explore and this was all so wonderfully new, but it was intoxicating to finally be like this with the raven-haired genius.
“Take me,” Lena whispered when the kiss broke again, and that soft dark hair was disheveled, and the blue dress was pulled out of place.
“You… sure,” she stammered, she had to ask, and in response, Lena reached behind herself and unzipped her dress which fell off her and down to the floor.
“Does that answer your question?” Lena asked with a raised eyebrow, but she couldn’t speak right there and then.
All that pale skin, all those curves and something primal and ancient came over her, in a flash, Lena was on the bed and she was on top of her. Gentle hands were on her hips and she leaned down and started exploring Lena with her lips and fingertips.
“Take your time…” Lena moaned sweetly, knowing that this would be her first time with a woman and she quickly realized that there wasn’t enough time in the world. Fully exploring Lena would take an eternity but she was fine with that.
The sun was shining in through the windows when she woke up and slowly opened up her eyes. Next to her was Lena laying on her side among the pristine white covers and looking at her with smiling green eyes. It had really happened! She’d slept with Lena Luthor as evident by her suit hanging off the headboard and the fact that she was very much naked.
“Been up long?” she asked as she stretched with a smile blooming on her face when she saw Lena.
“A few minutes, you’re adorable when you sleep by the way,” the raven-haired woman said softly and reached out to stroke her hair.
“Thank you,” she replied sweetly and leaned into Lena’s touch as those pale fingers combed through her hair.
“And last night was… wow,” Lena went on with a smile growing on her face and something about having put on wow-worthy performance made her feel all giddy.
“Yeah, but we do seriously suck at talking,” she giggled and cuddled up to Lena’s nude form under the covers still amazed how soft her pale skin was.
“But we make up for it in other ways,” Lena giggled, and she’d never heard the woman giggle before but by Rao, it was an amazing sound.
“It was everything I imagined it to be,” she admitted and ran her fingers through Lena’s dark hair and again it was so soft.
“Can’t believe I was your first but you’re a quick learner,” the raven-haired beauty said with a full-on smile on her face.
“Thank you, but I still owe you a date though,” she laughed and sighed contently when Lena snuggled closer with one leg over her.
“I look forward to it,” Lena whispered. kissed her cheek and then her lips and things got a bit blurry again.
“About last night… it wasn’t too soon was it?” she asked feeling warm all over when Lena pulled back.
“Darling, we’ve been dancing around each other for three years and the universe almost ended, no it wasn’t too soon it was way overdue,” Lena laughed and she couldn’t hold back, giving a loud squeal of joy she hugged the raven-haired woman.
“Cool! Hey, I’ll get us breakfast, how does something from Dublin sound? Then we can talk more?” she offered and tried to get out of the bed, but for some reason that made Lena laugh harder and simply pull her back in.
“No flying across the Atlantic Ocean for you today and I can’t believe I said that. No, we’re staying put and I’ll order us something in, you’re dating a billionaire now,” Lena countered and wrapped herself more tightly around her body.
“Can’t argue with that offer,” she giggled and started moving gently against Lena’s pale body under the covers. Hold on did Lena just use the D-word? But before she would over-analyze that she felt a soft and cool hand on her hip before it moved to other warmer places.
“Puppy want more?” the naked beauty teased her, and she bit her lower lip giving her a nod.
“You may have gotten me hooked,” she admitted and felt the familiar feeling of blushing as her cheeks heated up
“Did I now… guess I better give you another taste then, darling,” Lena almost purred before she vanished under the covers and it turned out that she herself was the breakfast.
“Great Rao!” she moaned and felt Lena go between her legs and soon she was writhing on the bed. Lena was good at this, holy Rao, Lena was too good at this and soon she was seeing stars she’d never seen before.

Supercorp Christmas Wrapping
Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5
“I’ll make sure Nia and the boys keep her out of the house long enough for it to work, Little Danvers, don’t worry,” Maggie promised.
“Yeah, while you and I go back to do plenty of things at our own place,” Alex murmured with a smirk. Kara stuck her palms over her ears and squinted her eyes shut, as though she could protect herself from her superhearing that way.
“I don’t need to hear all that, you’re still my big sister,” Kara whined. Alex laughed and kissed the top of her head.
“Fine. Maggie and I are going to go home, turn on It’s A Wonderful Life, and knit stockings and scarves and bake cookies,” Alex smirked.
The pillow Kara threw at Alex caught her right in the face.
Alex threw it right back, and even Kara’s Kryptonian reflexes couldn’t save both her potstickers and her face.
She saved, of course, her potstickers.
“Just um. Do me a favor, Kara,” Alex kissed her cheek once more before getting up and taking Maggie by the hand. “Since we’re doing you a favor by helping keep Lena out of the house.”
“Yeah, what’s that?” Kara asked, already dragging her overabundance of holiday gifts for Lena out of the closet along with the rolls of wrapping Maggie had brought over.
“Turn the volume way low on your superhearing, because Maggie and I --”
“Get out!” Kara faux-shouted.
“Love you, Little Danvers,” Maggie said, and though Kara glared at Alex, she winked at Maggie.
“Have fun,” she singsonged, smiling and shaking her head at the combination of kissing and giggling she heard all the way down her hallway.
But then her brow furrowed and her eyes focused as she adjusted her glasses.
She had a lot of wrapping to do.
She hadn’t realized, when she and Lena moved in together, how complicated it would be to find the time or space to hide the rather huge amount of Christmas and Chanukah gifts from her.
She never wanted Lena to feel like she was keeping secrets -- not again, no, they couldn’t go through that again -- and despite it all, Kara Danvers was still a terrible liar. About everyday things, anyway.
So she’d taken to carving out space in the far back of her closet, carefully covering each new purchase, each new painting -- which she created and dried over at Alex and Maggie’s place -- with her hanging clothes.
But now everything was scattered all over the living room -- and not just Lena’s gifts, but her presents for the rest of the extended family, too.
And she had no idea how to wrap them in the few hours she could count on Nia and the boys to keep Lena out of the house.
Sure, she could use her superspeed.
But that felt less intimate, like cheating.
So instead, she carefully arranged a combination of scissors, tape, and those fancy gift labels she’d splurged on, all alongside the wrapping Maggie had brought over.
Some of it was Supergirl wrapping, which had made Kara roll her eyes but also laugh in delight. Of course, Maggie brought her Supergirl wrapping.
Most of her friends, her family, would probably wrap her gifts in that exact paper.
She had friends, a family, on this earth.
She would have thoughtful, kind, beautiful gifts to open.
She wanted to make sure Lena felt that cared for, too.
So she put a “Santa’s Workshop: Knock Before Entering” sign on the door -- just in case -- blasted her favorite Christmas music, and got to work.
Kara was so wrapped up in her wrapping -- literally, she got herself stuck in the paper once when she was trying to determine exactly how much wrapping it would take to properly wrap Iris’s portable, heated foot bath -- that even with her superhearing, she didn’t hear the bemused knock on the door.
She didn’t realize how many hours had passed, how it had gone from light to dark outside -- because she had all the Christmas lights turned on in the house, cookies in the oven, music blasting -- when Lena knocked and knocked and knocked and eventually, stuck her head into the door of her own condo.
The one she shared with Kara.
They were both still in shock, about that. The reality of it. Of living together. Being together. It was still so fresh, and absolutely beautiful.
“Kara?” Lena said, and it was her voice, saying Kara’s name -- Kara was always listening for it, its tone, in case Lena was ever in trouble -- that made Kara jump and splutter and try to both adjust her glasses and hide the canvas she was wrapping at the same time.
But when Lena’s eyes flew wide -- not at the Santa hat Kara had tugged over her ears, but at the painting she was failing to hide -- Kara gulped.
“I’m sorry, Lena, you weren’t supposed to see it until --”
“No, Kara, don’t apologize, it’s... darling, it’s beautiful.”
Lena stepped over the shreds of unused wrapping -- Kara used her superspeed to make sure she didn’t step on the wayward scissors by accident -- and took the painting, only half-wrapped, into her hands.
It was Kara holding Lena in her arms, bridal-style, but not like the photos that had popped up around the media.
The painting was from Kara’s perspective. Of having Lena in her arms. Her eyes, her arms, seeming to extend beyond the painting and around Kara’s neck, strands of blonde hair and bits of red cape, Kara’s hands, secure around Lena’s body, the only indications of Kara’s presence in the painting.
Except, it was all Kara’s presence, because it was, all of it, how Kara saw Lena.
Lena had never seen herself look so beautiful.
Not vulnerable, being carried like that. Radiating power.
Not helpless. Defiant.
Not frightened. In love.
“It’s how I see you,” Kara tried to explain, adjusting her glasses and watching Lena’s face carefully. But she didn’t need to explain. The painting spoke for itself.
“You made this for me?” Lena asked, her voice broken.
“I’d make anything for you,” Kara said, simply because it was true.
Lena set the painting down beside them, gentle and reverent, so she wouldn’t damage it with the tears that were starting to drip down her face.
“I love you,” she whispered, once, twice, then over and over and over again as her lips found Kara’s and Kara’s hands found her waist and their bodies found their bed and suddenly, Christmas wrapping was the greatest activity Kara could think of.

wicked games pt 2
also on AO3
It becomes habit, after that first night.
Kara hangs in the distance, like she’s attuned herself to the distinct way Lena’s heart beats when she’s with someone and Lena, for her part makes sure to put on a show.
Andrea is a regular in these nights and days, and Lena lets herself go in the basest of ways, lets her mind’s fantasies run wild, knowing Kara sees her, knowing Kara hears her, knowing, in the parts of herself she keeps buried that Kara yearns for her.
On this Earth, Jack Spheer is alive, and is surprised if not tentative when after a meeting, Lena invites him home with her.
His hesitancy disappears when Lena leads him out onto her balcony and drops to her knees as soon as she sees that cape flowing in the distance.
She wonders what Kara thinks, what she feels when she sees Lena on bruised knees with her cheeks hollow and her mouth full.
When Jack hauls her up after, she catches sight of Supergirl floating higher and higher in the air, towards the stratosphere, as though to escape the realm that is Earth Prime, and she feels a smugness overtake her entire being, settling deep in her bones.
They both knew what they were playing at, before. When Kara Danvers was Kara Danvers and Lena was her blind best friend. The touches and the holding and the longing stares were something treasured for both of them, and now?
Now, Lena has turned them into a weapon worse than Kryptonite.
She feels powerful, as she struts on her heels into work each day after a long, satisfying night.
She has done what Lex never managed to do, after all.
She has broken a Super, and all without a single projectile.
She can see it, in the way Kara floats, incapacitated, stuck in the air, her hair a mess of curls and shoulders sagging as though only they are victims of Earth’s gravitational pull.
When James comes to visit Kelly and makes a pit stop at LuthorCorp to say hello, she’s only stopped in her quest to have Kara see them together by the watch gleaming on his wrist.
When she’s home alone that night, kicking herself for not taking advantage of the man she once regularly rode to completion, she stumbles upon her most sinister idea yet.
She bides her time, wanting to ensure she has Kara completely ensnared, before she makes good on her mind’s blueprints.
She was never sexless, despite the image she projected to those she encountered in her life.
Although, if she was admitting it to only herself, she was never quite this voracious, before.
She ignores the whisper in her mind, that it has to do with Kara, this new appetite, that it has to do with knowing Kara’s eyes are on her, knowing Kara sees her in her most sensual moments, at her most exposed.
It’s on a normal Tuesday, that she takes a page out of Lex’s handbook and invites her secretary into her office under false pretenses.
She was careful and calculated before she made her move, more revealing outfits worn, more flirtatious banter. That day she pulled an old favorite out of her closet, a deep cut top that left her shoulders bare and chest on display, and she knew she the line she had cast had been pulled taught and tight, the secretary hooked right through the mouth.
The top had worked once before, on James, and she wonders to herself if Kara watched them, even then.
She knows the answer is no, but she can’t help but wonder how often Kara, Supregirl, so attuned to Lena’s beating heart, lay at home and knew what was happening to her best friend at the hands of her capable ex.
She asked the woman, Claire, to wait after work that day, and the pink tinge that accentuated the woman’s cheeks told her enough.
Once everyone else had gone home she invited Claire in, dragging a finger across her pink plump lips, and knew the game was afoot.
She sat in her chair, turned to face the balcony, one leg slung over the eager and earnest girls shoulders as she licked and tasted every inch of Lena.
The sun was setting, orange fire lit in the sky, and Lena’s heart hammered in her chest as she flicked open the face of the watch on her wrist and pressed that damn sigil, that crest that had brought her so much pain.
As she fisted a hand in the girl’s hair, guiding her tongue to her center, urging her to push in, she waited, watching as a blue and red blur scorched across the burnt sky towards her, coming to a sudden halt barely a foot away from the windows she was splayed in front of.
Kara halted quickly and Lena’s breath caught at the intensity of the moment.
It was the closest they had ever been to each other during these moments and the second blue eyes locked on green, Lena came, spilling and gushing across the red haired woman's face and chin, down her shirt and onto the floor.
She held the woman there, didn’t let her catch her breath as her eyes bore into Kara’s.
Kara’s face was hard, her blue eyes glassy, her chest heaving in time with Lena’s.
Time seemed infinite and unmoving as they sat, separated by glass and a wall of heartbreak, staring at each other, truly seeing each other for the first time in weeks.
When Lena slid her leg off her secretary’s shoulders and unclenched her hand from red fiery hair, Kara took a deep breath, a shudder wracking her body, before she shook her head once and took off too fast for the human eye.
Lena dismissed Claire, ignoring the wondrous and heated look in the woman’s eyes, thanking her with an impartial tone, and telling her to be in at 9 the next morning.
She pulled her lacy underwear back in place as the door shut, feeling without seeing the icy burn of eyes on her back as she once again took her place in her desk chair.
The game she was playing was dangerous, and she realized, later that night at home, glass of wind in hand, that she hadn’t calculated the true costs of winning.

Broken Hearts- Chapter 1
"I am so proud of you. Do you want me to stay over tonight? I can be there as long as you need." Alex's voice breaks as she asks.
"No, no." I hear myself say. " Go, be with your girlfriend. I need to know you two are happy. Like I want to know about Winn and Lyra. J'honn and Megan. Clark and Louis. It's not like everybody else's world has stopped. You don't have to act like it." My chest feels like there is a hole in it. Like someone poured acid into my heart and it's slowly consuming more and more of me.
"What do you need right now?" Alex asks.
"Just... never let her go. Okay?" She nods and then wind feels my ears drowning out anything left unsaid between us. I can't even look back at my sister, my best friend, because even at the end of this tragedy her light is too bright for me to bear. So I fly far and fast.
I fly out over the ocean, far from the city. A scream rips from my throat, my soul trying to escape with it. The familiar tingling sensation in my eyes as my heat vision escapes into the air.
Then it's quite. I feel... empty. The world has faded into a duller version of itself in the pale moonlight. I just float there, looking at the stars, trying to still see that little white ship that had delivered me to Earth. Twice. And now it was taking away the man I loved and would never see again.
Suddenly dawn begins to break. All at once it's a new day and I am surprised the earth still turns because despite what I said to Alex, my world has stopped and now I can't even see the stars. I began my flight home and dress for work. Supergirl had a long day, not Kara Danvers.
Cat Grant sits behind her desk as I walk in, and for a moment I am okay. It's familiar. She has her glasses in her mouth and scoffs at the news story about Lillian Luthor saving the day. 'Lena never gets the appreciation she deserves.' I think bitterly.
"Whats wrong with your face?" Cat asks in a way only she could.
"What? Do I have something?' I say, touching my face, I hadn't eaten so I know it couldn't be that. I just couldn't stomach anything this morning.
"That frown. Its causing little tinny wrinkles to sprout up under your eyes. Ker-ah, The city has been saved from that fashion challenged fascist. So why do you look like your world's about to end?" She stands and puts a hand on her hip.
"It's a... it's personal." I glance at the ground but I can feel her gaze digging into me, pulling out the truth. I take a steadying breath.
"While you've been away, I have been in a relationship."
"Ker-ah Danvers has a boyfriend." She exclaims. "A year in a yurt and I miss everything."
"Had a boyfriend." I correct her. trying to get it all out before I break down in tears. "For the first time ever I really liked someone. Loved someone, and it didn't work out. It umm..." I struggle to find words as I sit on the couch.
"Hurts." Cat provides.
"Like hell." I agree. "I mean everyone close to me in my life is in a happy relationship and I thought I could have that too, but I am starting to think its just not in the cards for me."
"No. Take it from someone who has been married four times,"
"Four?"
"Well it would have been five but I turned down Rob Lowe. Twice Actually." Cat takes a seat across from me."
"It just feels like this pain isn't going to go away." The tears are coming and I don't think I can stop them.
"That's what I said about childbirth. But it did and it will. No, see, the thing that makes women strong is that we have the guts to be vulnerable. We have the ability to feel the depths of our emotion. And we know we will walk through it to the other side. And by the way, you have accomplished great things this year. Your Articles. Slavers moon, Alien Registry, Alien Fight Club. I mean it's all very powerful. And your prose, your prose is not bad. I mean its not great but its not bad."
"You read them?"
"I did. I did, 2017 and they have WiFi in the Himalayan Mountains. But, you my dear, are on a Hero's Journey, like Joseph Campbell would say. And yes you have hit a bit of an obstacle but you will soar right over it. Just like I would. Of course you won't be wearing Louboutins."
I chuckle but then hear sirens coming from the TV and a news broadcast about a two-building fire.
"Actually um..." searching desperately for a reason to leave and coming up short. "There is something I forgot I have to do. I have to go." Standing to leave.
"By all means," she says smiling. I have missed these moments with her.
"Thank You," I say pouring every ounce of gratitude I have into those two words. Cat Grant eased the pain enough for me to feel my world to start to move again. Achingly slow, but moving. And so am I, out the nearest unoccupied balcony window and racing towards a blazing fire.
________________________________________________________________
When I land back in my apartment I go to grab my phone. I forgot it before heading to CatCo this morning and was sure that Alex would be worried. The two building fire turned into an arson case, then a hostage situation. It was now 1:00am and I was exhausted. Instead of changing I plopped on the couch to check my phone. Shocked, I have 15 missed calls. One is from Alex but then a text from her too.
'Never mind, I see you on the news. Be safe.'
That put a faint smile on my lips, I am glad she isn't hovering. I go back to the recent calls list confused as to who else would be calling me. One from Ms. Grant who left me a message asking me to schedule her a hair appointment because her new assistant knows nothing. The rest were all from the same caller. Lena Luthor.
I feel selfish. Here I am moping about and Lena had been kidnapped, almost forced to marry Mon El, and then had to work with her mother to save the world and she got no credit for it.
I am about to hit redial when there is knock at my door. Curious, I use my x-ray vision, it's Lena. I move to open the door but see the flash of red of my cape and use my super speed to change and stash the costume in the darkest corner of my closet. Now wearing my favorite faded Back Street Boys t-shirt and flannel pajama pants and glasses I hear another knock on the door, a little louder this time.
"Coming" I call, not needing to force the sleepiness in my voice because I feel almost dead on my feet. I pull my hair back as I walk toward the door.
When I open it I see Lena Luthor. Not the calm and composed CEO I have grown used to, but a girl in a plain t-shirt and faded blue jeans who has worry practically pouring out of her. She hesitates in the doorway. The Lena throws her arms around me. I stagger a little at the unexpected hug. Lena was never a touchy person, which was hard for me because I am definitely a hugger.
"Kara, I was so worried. You weren't answering my calls." She then backs away to look at me at arm's length, keeping her hands on my shoulders.
"Lena, umm Hi. You do know what time it is right?" I ask. not really wanting to open up.
"I know Mike had to leave. so I called to check on you and then you didn't answer, so I called later, and then you didn't answer. And after the thirteenth call, I realized that you might blame me for what happened and then I was driving my self-crazy laying in bed thinking so I had to come talk to you." Lena's voice was getting higher and faster as she talked and I realized what she was implying. That I hated her for using our only hope to save us from the Daximites. Tears formed in my eyes. I grabbed one of her hands and led her inside to the couch.
"Oh, no Lena. I just forgot my phone today and when I got home I went straight to bed." Not a complete lie. "Supergirl told me what you did. You saved us. And she was the one that pushed the button. Not you. Mo... Mike escaped. But I did get to say goodbye." My chest began to ache again. Why must I keep reliving this?
"So you don't hate me?" Lena was staring at her hands in her lap. I reach up to her chin to make her look at me.
"Never. You are one of my closest friends. You saved the world. You, Lena Luthor, are a hero." Her eyes tore away from me as the tears start to fall from them.
"I was so scared. I am not a hero. A hero would have found a way to save everyone. I am a Luthor." I put my arm around the girl.
"I hope one day that you will see yourself how I see you. But until then, I will believe in you for the both of us." I say as I lean us back into the couch and let her cry into my shoulder. Soon Lena's breathing slows and evens out. When she is asleep, I carefully carry her to my bed and lay her down before going to sleep on the couch.
Sleep is hard to come by. When I do, I dream of the fight with Mon-El's mother. The city burning around me as the screams of the dying rise. Around five I give up and climb onto the fire escape to watch the sunrise. In the near silence of a city just waking up, my tears start to fall.
I lose track of time. A hand touched my shoulder and I nearly flipped whoever it was over the edge, then I realized the raven haired women climbing out beside me was Lena. I move to quickly wipe the tears away but she catches my hand.
"No. This is why I came last night. To comfort you. Not you comfort me." She holds my hand in hers and puts the other around my shoulders.
"It just hurts so much," I sob out. The pain raking through my body. Worse than any kryptonite.
"You love him. Don't you?" She asks. A strange tone colors her voice but I am too wrapped in my own pain to process it completely.
"Yes. He was brash and angry and selfish at first. But he was good at his core. And he tried to change for me, was changing for me, and I don't think I can love another man again like I love him."
"I wish I knew that kind of love. Jack came close but it was more of a dream than something real."
We sat in silence and watched the city come to life. Lights on building flicking on and off as people began their day and headed to work. Horns started to blare in the streets below. My alarm went off on my phone in by the couch.
"7 o'clock. I have to get ready for work." I say but make no move to get up. Lena's arm around me seems to be keeping the tears and pain at bay.
"Okay," She says but doesn't move either. The alarm snoozes itself. Then goes off again ten minutes later. This time I heave a huge sigh and struggle to my feet. When I am up I reach down for Lena's hand. I help her up with a small fake grimace at the effort and we climb inside.
"Mind if I make some coffee?" She asked. I shake my head as I trudge into my room. I hear her bang a couple cupboards in the kitchen as she searches for supplies. Then soon the rich smell of coffee begins to fill my apartment.
"Hey," she calls.
"Yes?"
"How did you carry me all the way to your bed last night?" I panic for a moment.
"Umm... I've been working out with Alex, like Cross Fit stuff. It kicks my butt every time. But it's obviously working."
"Oh, okay." was her only reply.
I hear the front door open for some reason and a muffled "Oh, hi," as I finish buttoning my light blue shirt over the darker long sleeve with a red and gold emblem. When I walk out Lena is pouring the last of three mugs of coffee and Alex stands over a pink box of what I can only assume are doughnuts.
"There better be curlers in there." I say, too excited to bother with a 'Good Morning.'
"Of course," Alex says with a grin. "And Lena made coffee, what did you bring?" She asks teasingly.
"My appetite." That brought a chuckle from them both, and a faint smile to my lips. We sipped on coffee and each ate a doughnut in contented silence. Lena glanced at her watch.
"I have to go. I have to run home to change before heading to L-Corp. we have to deal with a lot of aftermath from the invasion." As she hurried out Alex gave me a weird look.
"Lena Luthor stayed the night?"
"She came over in a panic because I hadn't answered her calls because I forgot my phone. She slept in my bed. I didn't sleep." I say. I had covered the bags under my eyes with makeup but Alex gave me a sad look and squeezed my hand.
"Okay. I have to go. I'll see you later?" she asked.
"Call me if it's something major. But I can't go back to the DEO, not yet. It reminds me of..." I trailed off and Alex nodded. She left and I cleaned up the mugs before heading to CatCo.

@bendstime / meme / accepting!
In the past few years Kara has learned how to navigate the holiday season; she goes through the motions of Christmas, and has celebrated it with the Danvers or Clark, Lois and Martha. She did learn the origins of the holiday once, though she preferred the simplicity of it — the gift-giving, gathering of family and friends, the fun decorations, and, of course, silly sweaters. Learning that Barry did not celebrate Christmas was not a surprise, as she already knew that there were millions of people that observed different holidays. When it came the time to decorate, or rather the time where Eliza called, asking if she would be coming to dinner ( which had been the marker Kara used as the appropriate time to begin decorating her apartment ), she didn’t know if she should.
Would it be insensitive or rude? Technically, she didn’t have to do it, as it wasn’t exactly a holiday she celebrated in any other way than showing a love and appreciation for the people she cared for; she did, in secret, observe Nova, though such a holiday was hers and hers alone, and needed no decorations or gatherings.
After hours of thought, which Kara spent pacing back and forth in her apartment ( two of which she spent on the phone with Alex, asking for advice and then a brief pause of such thoughts to don her boots and cape to put out a fire six blocks away ), she dusted ash from her hair and pulled the boxes of decorations out from the back of her closet. Kara imagined that if they lived together they’d have talked more of the subject, because she would have definitely brought it up—regardless, she gently blew a layer of dust off the first box and was greeted with a small plain wreath wrapped in a strand of white lights, and beneath that was a simple, and fake, sprig of mistletoe.
A short while, and a handful or three of decorations, later, Kara heard the door knob turn ( and removed her glasses to see Barry in the hall ) and then the nerves set in. She grabbed the mistletoe and met him at the door as it opened.
She held the mistletoe above them, hoping that he wouldn’t mind the tradition that came along with it; she stood on her toes, pressing her lips to his. Barry tasted of coffee, decaf, of course, and, as he so often did, felt like electricity, or perhaps that was just the way he made her feel—electric, and so alive. She smiled, murmuring a muffled ‘hi’ into the kiss. One arm wove around his neck, still holding the mistletoe, while the other rested at his waist.
“I left room,” she began to explain, gently tugging him further into her apartment by one of the belt loops of his jeans, though still having her other arm around him. “I thought maybe if you had any Hanukkah decorations we could put them up, and you could teach me about it? I mean, I barely celebrate Christmas, and by celebrate I mean I like buying gift for people and eating a bunch of food… and that’s basically it, because I still believe in Rao, but I’m kind of the only one so that’s not much of a holiday; and even then I’m not overly religious. Not like religious guild or anything—” she paused, though only to take a breath with the realization she was rambling.
Kara smiled, though almost nervously. “Anyway, I can take all this down, if you want… but I do want to keep out the mistletoe.”

SuperCorp Prompt 1:
Prompt (from @sheishergirlfriend):
Red K ! Kara is mean to everyone but getting soft and awkward around Lena
Author’s Note: I really hope this somewhat close to what you had in mind. This is rated K+ and hopefully everyone enjoys it. Lemme know what you think!
--------------------------
Kara checked herself out in front of the mirror: short, gray pencil skirt with a slit that went slightly more than halfway up her thigh; black blouse with one too many buttons undone, enough so one didn’t have to leave much up to the imagination; shiny, black stilettos that stretched out; loose hair teased to perfection, and--of course--her trademark glasses.
Yeah, she was good to go for another day at work.
It was weird though, ever since she saved those firefighters she’s felt more confident, and as she gave herself another once over in the mirror, she even felt a little bit sexy with her new look.
Either way she had to get going before she was going to be late. She grabbed her black purse, placed her phone inside, and got her keys; today was going to be interesting.
---
She was halfway through her work day, and she was absolutely dreading it. She was absolutely dying to get outside of this increasingly hot office so that she can fly around the city. She needed to feel the wind carry her and her stress away, she needed to be free for a little bit.
“Kiera!”
Kara rolled her eyes, stood up with a slouch, and didn’t even bother grabbing her notepad. Hell, she didn’t even grab a pen.
“Kiera!”
Kara sauntered her way to the front of Cat’s desk which was covered with prints, and strewn with copies at the edges of her desk.
“I heard you the first time, Ms. Grant.”
Cat, who was steadily focused on making the prints bleed, placed her pen down and looked up at Kara. Like, really looked at her.
She saw the way the women in front of her was standing: arms crossed in a way that allowed her right hand to be poised midair so that she can see her manicure, blood red nails trimmed to perfection. In Cat’s eyes, that one hand should have been poised on a notepad, ready to write down her every whims. However, it was at that instant that Cat realized that her usually docile and responsive assistant was posing an unusual defiant pose that was oozed with a wayward demeanor.
Cat pursed her lips.
“Would you like the day off, Kiera?”
Kara looked up at Cat, stared her straight in the eyes; unwavering. She moved her hands until they landed right on top of Cat’s desk, right on top of those prints that were in the process of being murdered merciless by Cat’s keen eyes, and arched her back. Angled her head up and looked down at Cat.
“Hmm, what makes you say that Ms. Grant?”
Cat looked up at her, the vein at her reddening neck straining against her smooth skin. She swallowed all while maintaining eye contact.
“Well, I don’t know.” Her eyes shifted across the room. “Maybe it’s the way that you so nonchalantly walked into my office as if you had nothing better to do.” She motioned her left hand pass Kara and towards the glass doorway. “Perhaps it’s the way that you have completely invaded my personal space by placing your germy hands on my desk.” Cat shifted her eyes down and stared down at each of Kara’s hands, trying to incinerate them away with just a look. “Or maybe--now, this may be a stretch--it’s the fact that I don’t like the attitude that you’re displaying, the same attitude you’re directing towards me, no less.” She lifted her eyes up from Kara’s hands and stared at her without faltering.
However, their intent staredown was interrupted by a knock against Cat’s glass door and a clearing of a throat.
“Um, I’m sorry to interrupt, Ms. Grant, but I need you to take a look at these photos before I send them down for printing.”
It wasn’t until Cat finally broke her gaze, picked up her glasses, and gave a slight nod that Jimmy even decided it was safe enough to approach either one of them. Kara took a deep breath, straightened up and recomposed herself until she reclaimed the same pose she had when she first walked into Cat’s office.
After handing Cat his photo layouts, Jimmy gave Kara a wary look while Kara seemed completely intent on ignoring him. Cat, unbeknownst to either of them, was observing this slight interaction. She sighed, gave Jimmy his adequate photos back (as usual) without even giving them another glance, and told him they were just fine.
That was his cue to leave.
“Kara, I don’t know what medications you’re on or if you finally decided to grow a pair over the weekend,” Cat took off her impeccable glasses. “But, I think that for the sake of maintaining your job for the next three months until you completed your first full year here at Catco, that you should take the rest of the day off.”
Kara scoffed.
“No questions asked, now go before I change my mind and decide to fire you here on the spot.”
She carelessly flailed her hands at Kara in a shooing motion--not even bothering to look at her--which spurred the woman in front of her to simply spin on her sharp stilettos, flip her hair and to sway her hips back to her desk. She collected her things: her bag, her keys, her espresso, and her phone. In fact, when she picked up her phone she saw that she had one missed call and two text messages from her sister Alex. She unlocked her phone with her thumbprint and read the two messages.
Hey, wanna catch lunch together?
I hear that JJ’s having a special today :)
Kara was ready to reply back, set on going since she didn’t have anything else to do, but decided better on it and left Alex on read. She had no intentions of spending her lunch at some dingy dinner, especially since she wasn’t even hungry and would rather spend it flying around.
So, she made her way to the nearest obscure window, and undid the rest of the blouse that was patiently waiting all morning to be ripped off.
---
The sun was almost setting; the sky painted with light pink and dark orange hues that swirled around a yellow core near the bottom of the skyline. At the very top of the atmosphere was an unlit figure who’s cape would flap back and forth, morphing to the strong currents of the brisk wind that high up: Kara Danvers.
She stared down at the illuminated city, the numerous yellow boxes on the tall buildings that would obstruct the view of the sunset, the blue and red lights from the police cars swirling around the perimeters of the city, and the honking from the cars caught in traffic. It was all so, so quaint.
She flew around a little bit more, bypassed the crime scene at the perimeters of the city, and landed on the small balcony of her apartment.
It was weird. She spent the last five hours just flying around the city, and she still wasn’t hungry. Either way, she quickly changed into a pair of some comfy sweatpants and a blue cotton t-shirt. After that, it didn’t take too long for her to throw herself on her couch and turn on the television. She flipped through a few channels until she landed on reruns of Friends.
She was about to rest her head on the arm of the couch when she heard her phone vibrate from the end table of her bedroom where it laid charging. At first she wasn’t considering picking it up, especially if it was just Alex worrying about her for no reason, but for some reason she decided to get up and see who needed her, like always.
Lena did, apparently.
I probably don’t know what the chances are that you might be available at the moment, but I decided to take a chance and ask.
I’m kinda lonely at the office and I really wish to have some company. Please?
I’ll have my assistant get us some take out. I swear, I will literally die if I have to spend another minute here alone.
God, I’m so clingy.
Kara laughed. She stared at her phone a bit longer, waiting to see if Lena would keep sending her messages. Yet, when she saw the message bubble forming again she decided to pull Lena out of her misery.
I guess it depends on where the take out will be from.
Kara sent the message and brought the side of her right thumb up to her mouth where her teeth were waiting to preen on the supple skin near her red nail.
JJ’s, of course! It’s your kryptonite ;p
Ha. If only she knew.
Well, I guess not all heroes wear capes, right?
This conversation has officially become the most ironic dialogue of the century--at least the one of the decade.
YAY! I CAN’T WAIT!
She put her phone down, and decided to change into something a little more lively than what she’s used to. That’s why when she opened her closet and saw the end of the rack, her face morphed a smug grin with her mouth.
---
Lena was finishing up a part of her budget plan when her assistant politely knocked on her door and walked in as quietly as possible.
“Miss Luthor, there is a Kara Danvers here who says that she has an appointment with you but she doesn’t--”
Of course, Kara was feeling a little bit angsty and decided to take matters into her own hands: she barged in without waiting for permission. The impulsive action caused Lena to raise her eyebrows until eventually she felt that it was more amusing than arrogant.
She looked at her assistant one last time, “don’t worry about it, and feel free to take the rest of the night off.”
Kara smirked and gave a condescending look at the flabbergasted assistant. Lena didn’t notice though because she was too busy looking at what Kara was wearing: a tight, strapless, bright red dress that seemed to fit Kara like a glove and made her blonde hair look like a yellow flame from the way it was teased by the breeze of the city. She was definitely a sight for sore eyes at this stage of the night.
“Wow, did you just come from somewhere important? I wasn’t expecting you to get all dressed up, but wow... you look stunning!”
Lena’s eyes were trying not to devour the image in front of her but she tried to maintain a modicum of decency, even though the brightness of the dress was demanding her eyes to rake them over Kara’s figure. When she finally saw Kara’s face, she noticed the slight pink tinge that was coloring the upper half of her cheeks and the way her blue eyes were looking at any point in the room but Lena.
“Would you like to take a seat? I already had my assistant order from JJ’s Diner so it should be here sometime soon--hopefully.”
Kara went over to the couch and sat down at the edge of the couch--back straight and legs crossed--all of her previous confidence almost gone. When she looked down at herself, the red dress and the unnecessary cleavage that stared back at her, she realized how dumb she must look.
“I should almost be done soon, and then I’ll--”
“I look ridiculous, don’t I?”
At those words, Lena snapped her jaw shut. She just sat there, processing what she just heard. Kara wasn’t even looking at her, she just kept on rambling.
“I look ridiculous, and I don’t what I was thinking when I picked out this dress, and--god, I’m cold--and, and… why are you looking at me like that?”
Lena was smiling, she placed her pen down, stood up and carefully walked her way over to Kara until she finally sat down right next to Kara, neglecting the rest of the long couch, and grabbed the fidgeting hands in her lap.
“I don’t know what you’re going on off about, but I think you look marvelous.” Kara looked up at Lena. “Sure, it was more than what I was expecting, but you’re still gorgeous.” Lena raised one of her hands and placed an untamed flame behind one of Kara’s ear. “Plus, now I have an excuse to officially call this meet up a date.” At that, Kara blushed and looked down at her lap again. Lena simply looked at her, dropped her hand to Kara’s cheek and felt Kara rest the weight of her head on the palm of her hand.
Then Lena’s phone rang.
She cleared her throat and hesitantly stood up, “that must be the take out.”
“Ye-yeah.”
Lena picked up the phone, “yes… just have them come up… yes… yes… okay, thank you.” When she hung up, she looked over at Kara and noticed that she seemed more relaxed until she saw her hands rubbing at her arms--that must simply not do. She surveyed behind her and took the black blazer draped around the back of her impressive leather chair. When Kara heard Lena’s heels clicking against the stone of the floor, she looked up to see that Lena was carrying her blazer; the simple thought alone managed to warm her up already.
Lena sat down next to Kara, much in the same way she did earlier except this time she came prepared and wrapped the blazer around Kara’s arms taking the chance to wrap her arm around her shoulder in the process. Feeling content, Kara grabbed Lena’s hand hanging off the end of her shoulder and angled her face towards Lena.
“Delivery for Miss Luthor.”
Lena chuckled and Kara smiled. When the delivery girl didn’t receive a response she ended up knocking on the dark wood of the door. Lena stood up--again--grabbed the wallet on her desk and opened the door.
“Here is your delivery Miss Luthor: two milkshakes, cookies and cream, and chocolate, with curly fries and--”
“Yes, here’s your tip, now have a good night.”
The young girl gaped at the cash in her hand that she didn’t even realize the door gently pressing against the tip of her nose.
However, Lena didn’t notice that someone crept up behind her and when she turned around, take out bag in one hand and shakes in the other, she wasn’t expecting to be caught off guard by cherry lips against her lips. Now, if only she can actually use her hands apart from holding food.
Closing her eyes would have to do for now.
When Kara finally relented, Lena reluctantly opened her eyes to find stormy blue eyes staring at her intently, waiting.
“Well, aren’t you full of welcoming surprises tonight,” Lena grinned.
“I guess I just couldn’t take the chance to have this date end up with silly interruptions that would prevent me from doing what I’ve been dying to do since I met you.”
“Then, by all means…” Lena smirked.
Kara leaned on her toes, face angled towards Lena’s, but then slipped her hands on the take out, spun around and threw herself on the couch.
“...Let’s eat!”
Lena laughed, “tease!” But followed soon after, finally getting to see Kara so carefree... and hungry.
