I mean, not necessarily. It can be, for example, "author sits down to write a story at three p.m, writes a bit, gets bored, comes back later and finishes it just out of obligation, goes "eh, good enough" and ships it. Then readers fall in love with it and it changes their lives." The yankee artist discourse is too fucking sunk in the (often fash or fash-adjacent) romantic idea of the tormented genius. Art is not magic or religion, it's just a thing people do. It's communication. It's work. You know?
