Glad You Came (Julie x Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: Julie x reader where reader is kind of the fuckgirl of the team. Reader knows that julie have feelings for her and like her attention. Julie thinks that reader plays with her feelings. But reader actually like julie and try to get her trust back. End with fluff please.
Author’s Note: Idk if this actually fits the prompt, but I just couldn’t get the image out of my head. I hope you all enjoy.
Jj had always been a sucker for a good Rom-Com. The ones where the good girl fell for the bad boy (with a good heart) and that bad boy stepped up to the plate and got his shit together for her.
But alas, though you were the team’s resident bad girl, this wasn’t a rom-com and it appeared you had zero intention of making a dent in your precious reputation. At least that’s what she thought.
You always did have a knack for proving people wrong.
*****
The bouquet of roses was the first thing everyone noticed when they stepped into the locker room. It was an amazing surprise after such a rough practice. A not entirely unexpected, but still incredible surprise.
JJ blushed as she approached her overflowing locker. This secret admirer stuff was getting a bit out of hand.
“Why does Julie get roses, but none of the rest of us do?” Emily whined, settling down in front of her own bare cubby.
Lindsey rolled her eyes. If JJ was going to keep getting gifts from a random person, she and the rest of the girls with significant others on the team were really going to have to step up their game.
“You don’t like dead flowers Sonnett,” She called to the blond 3 lockers over.
“Yeah, but it’s not fair if she gets them and the rest of us don’t,” Emily sighed dramatically, and the rest of the room giggled.
“It's from her admirer,” Kelley chimed in, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
JJ’s blush deepened. She carefully reached out and grabbed the thornless Rose with a little tag on it, bringing the delicate petals to her nose before examining the little handwritten note.
“Ooo, what’s the note say this time?” Kelley asked, as half the team crowded around the midfielder.
Julie took a big deep breath before reading the black cursive words out loud.
“I wanted to get you something as beautiful as you are, but couldn’t find anything that came close,”
“Awww,” the team cooed, some rubbing Julie’s back and others ruffling her hair as they made their way back to their respective areas.
She ran her fingers over the little words, trying to imagine the face of the person who could have written them. The person who would go to such lengths to show their interest in her. But the gifts were always sweet and never creepy.
The gifts ranged from coffee orders sent to her hotel room, to a signed Mia Hamm jersey that had shown up in her locker, but the thing that always remained was the smooth black cursive notes that accompanied them.
She brushed the soft petals against her nose again. How she longed to know who thought so highly of her.
“Who could get roses in here?” Sam snorted, pulling her boots off.
“It’s gotta be a teammate. They show up literally everywhere we go,” Rose said thoughtfully, glancing around at all the women in the room, her eyes lingering on where you were grinning down at your phone.
There was just something about your smile and the way you kept glancing up at a certain blond midfielder.
At least we know it’s not Y/n,” Emily cackled.
You looked up at the group from your place across the room, where they all thought you were trying to ignore the commotion (probably in favor of texting a random girl for a hookup).
You had the reputation of being the fuckgirl of the team. And you took pride in that. You liked when women gave you attention, and as long as everything was consensual, you didn’t see the harm in messing around. That didn’t mean you treated women like objects. Quite the opposite. You loved to woo them, to make them feel beautiful, and then move on to the next conquest.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“With a body count as high as yours, I doubt you’re capable of being this romantic,” Julie spat back, glaring at you. Your history with her was far from perfect, and she had found out about your reputation first hand.
You smirked. If you couldn’t positively have her attention (the way you wanted but were too afraid to admit), then you would take the hostility any day. Angry Julie was still sexy after all.
“How do you think I get them into my bed? Maybe I’m a secret mush at heart,” You asked, standing and approaching the woman. Your hands gently brushed over her shoulder and you began to lean in close to her.
She brought her finger up to push against your nose, stopping you in your tracks. You tried and failed to cover your smile at the touch.
“Yeah right,” She scoffed, shoving you back.
Your smile widened, as you stepped back, your arms wide. “You never know till you try it, Jules,”
“Been there, done that. No thanks,” She shook her head and turned away from you. “At least I have enough class not to fuck anything with a pulse”
Rose tilted her head to the side at the brief look of sadness that crossed your features. Her eyebrows furrowed at the look, and how quickly it was gone.
****
You picked at the tape around your wrist- a habit that started in middle school after an unfortunate event that required stitches and had become one of your many signatures within the team. The pressure around the area was calming now, and always put you in the right mode of a game.
It also gave you something to absentmindedly play with as you waited for the next set of drills on the bench (totally not checking out a certain blond when she wasn’t looking).
“When are you going to tell her that you’re her admirer?” Rose said, settling down on the bench beside you.
You shrugged. “First, I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.”  You glanced up at the bling again, before blinking back to Rose’s raised eyebrow.
You took a deep breath, finally managing to get a finger under the tape.
“And second never. I’m defective remember? Completely incapable of love,”
You repeated the words JJ had said to you that fateful night. The night you had ruined the best almost relationship you ever had. It wasn’t you exactly, just the fact that a woman was texting you while you were in bed with Julie. You weren’t going to respond, but the blond midfielder had caught sight of the screen before you could clear the notification.
That was enough proof for her. She kicked you out and didn’t let you explain- there was nothing to say apparently.
“That’s why you always send her flowers and notes, and other gooey stuff right?” Rose rolled her eyes.
She had known you since the two of you were in diapers. She knew all about your hang-ups on relationships, but she also knew the secret romantic side. The sweet side that you didn’t show to everyone. Everyone except a blond midfielder (who was still very smitten with you, even if you didn’t want to believe it).
“I-,” You paused, biting your lip, your eyes getting that faraway look Rose knew all too well. You shook your head. You had your shot and it had blown up in your face. “She doesn’t want me. It’s just easier this way,”
“What, to hopelessly pine after someone? Or to completely avoid rejection all together?” Rose snorted.
You shook your head again, finally looking rose in the eyes. “I hurt her Rose. She doesn’t want someone she can’t trust,”
Rose softened at the admission and the unspoken “I’m not good enough” that went with it. You had always struggled with that, maybe that’s why you were such a lady killer. You so badly wanted to be enough, that you jumped at every opportunity. But it was different after you met JJ.
“How many people have you slept with within the last 3 months?” Rose asked suddenly.
And you blinked at her a few times, completely unsure of where your best friend was going with this.
“What?”
Rose rolled her eyes. “If you can’t think of an exact number, ballpark it for me,”
You vehemently shook your head. You hadn’t met a hookup since that night, too hung up on JJ, and afraid that continuing would destroy any remaining chance you had with the woman.
“I haven’t,”
Rose snapped, patting your shoulder. “Exactly. You’re proving to her, the entire team really, that you can change. She’ll come around, especially if you’re honest with her and I don’t know, try to keep it in your pants for once,”
The team had taken notice of your change, how you hadn’t engaged in hookups. Only a few of them knew the real reason behind your apparent abstinence.
“You think?” You asked softly, and Rose sent you an indulgent smile.
“Yeah, you just gotta grow a pair and tell her you’ve been her secret admirer for the last 6 months,” She finished with a cackle and you blushed.
That was easier said than done.
*****
Julie had never been this impressed in her entire life. Sure she had been to some amazing restaurants before, but nothing like the little place her admirer had chosen. She felt every bit of hesitance leave her as she stepped into the building. It was quaint and romantic with an amazing buzz in the air.
She had found the handwritten note with the time and place on the floor outside her hotel room door, along with one of the cutest black dresses she had ever seen. It fit her perfectly, and she looked good if she did say so herself.
She approached the hostess stand, and the man behind the counter smiled at her. “Good evening miss, how may we assist you?”
She smiled back at him. “Um, I have a reservation. It’s under Mystique,” she said, suppressing a grin at the name her admirer had chosen.
The man’s smile widened as he reached into his suit jacket pocket, and retrieved a neatly folded letter. “Ah, yes. I have this for you,”
JJ to the heavy paper in her hands, running her fingers over her name written in familiar black cursive reverently. Her admirer rarely ever wrote her name out.
She very carefully unfolded the note, revealing more of her favorite handwriting.
Julie,
First and foremost, I’m so glad you could make it. I know I’ve written this beforehand, but I must say I’m sure you look amazing. You always look amazing. It doesn’t matter if it’s during practice, or during one of our very chill team bonding nights. You never fail to take my breath away, but that’s not why it’s taken me so long to finally grow a pair and come clean.
I know that you and I have history and that I’m not your ideal significant other, but I promise you’re not just another person to add to my long list. You make me feel things I’ve never really felt before, and that scares me. I don’t know how to do this, and I can’t promise I’ll be perfect, but I can promise that I’ll try my best. I will do everything I can to show you how much I love you, and to be someone worthy of your love in return.
Now comes the hard part. If you want to give me the chance to show you that I’ve grown up and am ready for a serious relationship, just tell the matroids you would like to take a drink at the bar. or If you don’t want to see me, but want to eat, just tell him you’re ready for your table. Your meal will be paid for, and I’ll leave you alone. We can even pretend it never happened if you would prefer. Or if you want neither of those things, you can walk away.
The choice is yours J. Ill respect whatever you choose, and no hard feelings either way.
Truly yours,
Y/n
Julie stared down at the letter, completely stunned, almost unable to believe that you could ever do anything this remotely romantic. A small part of her cheered as if she was waiting for you to finally step up.
She didn’t hate you, contrary to popular belief. She just thought you were incredibly confusing. You would flaunt your reputation, but then you would be sweet and shy with her. In the end, your first try at a relationship didn’t work because she was tired of you jerking her around. But this was a side to you she had never seen. One that intrigued her to no end.
“Have you made your decision ma’am?” The maitre d’ asked kindly, sliding up beside her. She blinked up from the neat handwriting towards the man (who looked like he wanted to say more).
She nodded at the man. “I have. I’d like to have a drink at the bar please,”
his smile was blinding as he gestured to the left with his arm. “Right this way,”
*****
You carefully swirled your finger around the rim of your drink, staring listlessly into the amber liquid. You weren’t quite sure how long you had been sitting here, but with every passing second, you couldn’t help but think about how much of a terrible idea this was.
She was never going to choose to come sit with you at the bar, and the longer you waited, the more pathetic you would look in the end.
You almost felt bad for the staff. They were so excited to help, so enthusiastic about helping you get the girl of your dreams. You were sure you were going to disappoint them.
“Fancy meeting you here stranger,” Her voice cut through your internal monologue. You lifted your head to meet her blue eyes, and the sight alone took your breath away.
“JJ, you came,” You said breathlessly, standing to greet the woman.
“I did,” She nodded, blushing when you took her hand and kissed the back of it before pulling out a chair for her. You sat down next to her, flagging down the bartender for the woman.
“You look stunning,” You said softly, finally turning in her direction, and she caught the light shade of pink that tinted your cheeks.
“So you’ve said,” Julie laughed, holding up the letter. The red in your cheeks spread up to your ears and down your neck as you ducked your head in embarrassment.
“Megan may have helped me pick it out…” You mumbled, your fingers returning to your glass.
Rose may or may not have gotten the entire team involved when she finally convinced you to make your move. While you were relieved to have help picking out the perfect outfit, you hadn’t enjoyed being made fun of for your “questionable” fashion sense.
“Was she behind the other gifts too?” Julie asked, taking a sip of her drink with a raised eyebrow.
You shook your head, rubbing the back of your neck. “No. Those were all me,”
Julie smiled softly, reaching up to intertwine your fingers. She wasn’t used to seeing you so shy. It was kinda adorable.
“Well, I loved them,”
You nodded again, taking a big gulp of your drink, trying to calm your racing heart. “I’m really glad you came. I was afraid you would find out it was me and change your mind,”
“I’m glad I came too,”
You smiled brilliantly at the woman. You hadn’t completely redeemed yourself yet, not like Zuko or Snape, but at least you were going to have the chance to try. You weren’t going to let her slip through your fingers again.

Not that kind of librarian Sonny- Tierna x Reader
Tumblr media
This is my first ever fic and I’m really nervous about it so tell me what you think. Prompt: “I work at a library and you continuously ask me to help you find books about the most random topics, are you on some sort of quest?”
On this particular day when Tierna walks into the Stanford library she stops dead in her tracks when she sees you standing at your desk. You are the most beautiful girl she has ever seen. She is so lost in thought that she doesn’t notice you walking right up to her.
“Can I help you with anything?”
She blinks quickly and looks around confused. Suddenly she can’t remember why she’s here. Panicking she blurts out the first thing she can think of to keep you from walking away.
“Dinosaurs!”
An adorable blush starts to creep up her freckled cheeks as she realizes she practically shouted at you. You smile softly and let out a quite chuckle.
“Do you have a specific dinosaur in mind?” You say as you start to lead her towards the correct section.
“Uhh no not really” She laughs nervously with a hand on the back of her neck. “I’m Tierna by the way, Tierna Davidson.” She finishes while extending her hand to you.
What she didn’t know is that you knew who she was the second that she walked through those doors. You were a huge soccer fan and even played all throughout high school, but your senior year you were told that if you got another serious concussion it could result in brain damage so you decided to hang up your boots for good to stay healthy.
Despite what you went through you still loved the game so when you arrived at Stanford you went to any game you could. Tierna is one of the best players to come through the Stanford program so it was no surprise to you when she finally got her first call up. From the very fist time you saw her play you were smitten, and now is no different.
“I know who you are Superstar,” You can’t help but grin as you watch her eyes widen. “I’m (Y/N) (Y/L/N),” You say as you finally bring your hand up to meet hers.
Just as you are reaching the books about dinosaurs you hear your boss call out to you, “(Y/N)! I need you to put these books back where they go!”
You can’t help but feel disappointed at your time with Tierna being cut short. For a fleeting moment as you turn towards her you think she may look disappointed too.
“Duty calls, I’ll see you around Superstar” You say as you bring your hand up to brush her arm. You’re already beginning to walk away before she can respond, but as you look back you see her nodding.
With her original purpose for coming to the library long forgotten Tierna quickly makes her way back to her dorm room texting into the USWNT groupchat as she went.
Baby T: SOS I JUST MET A CUTE GIRL AND I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO
Frat Daddy Sr.: Aww shes a baby gay.
Frat Daddy Sr.: I remember those days
Frat Daddy Sr.: It took me like 3 months to ask out my first girlfriend
Baby T: 3 MONTHS?!?!
Not so Baby Horse: Probably not helping worms
Frat Daddy Sr.: My bad T...
Frat Daddy Sr.: I’m sure you’ll be fine
Pressi: Just take a deep breath and tell us about this girl honey
Baby T: I was headed to the library for only god knows what at this point and I saw her standing by her desk and I couldn’t help but stare because she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. By the time I realized that she was standing next to me I had already forgotten what I had came for so when she asked what I was looking for I just blurted out the first thing I could think of. AND she already knew who I was and didn’t seem bothered by it at all.
Dasani: Wait I thought librarians were only hot in pornos?
PewPew: Eww Sonny, not that kinda librarian
The Great Horan: I don’t see the issue here, just ask her out
Uncle: Yeah just go back tomorrow and ask her to coffee or something
Rose🌹: Leave it to Lyss to be the voice of reason haha
Baby T: Just ask her to coffee, how hard could that be? Thanks everyone, minus Kelley and Emily
Frat Daddy Sr.: HEY!
Dasani: HEY!
The next day you’re sitting behind your desk when you see Tierna walk inside. When she spots you she smiles and starts walking towards you. As she gets closer you call out, “I get to see the Superstar two days in a row? Must be my lucky day”
Her step falters as a deep red blush rises to her cheeks. Making Tierna a blushing mess is quickly becoming your new favorite thing. “What can I do for you today Superstar?”
She stands rooted to the spot staring blankly at you. You start to think that maybe she’s not as into you as you thought and maybe you should cut back on the flirting when she finally rushes out, “Doyouwannagogetcoffeewithmemaybe?”
“I’m sorry, what did you say? All I got out of that was coffee. You’re gonna have to talk slower babe.”
Her eyes widen and somehow her blush gets even darker. She clears her throat before speaking again.
“I uh... I asked if you.. if you... had any books on how to make coffee.”
You give her a weird look as you turn to your computer to see if the library has such a book. While you are distracted Tierna facepalms at her nerves getting the best of her once again. She is pulled out her thoughts by the sound of your voice.
“You’re in luck Superstar, we have one book on how to make coffee.” You say as you get up to pull the book off the shelf and check it out for her. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”
“Uh..Nope. That’s it I guess. Thanks (Y/N)”
You watch disappointed again as Tierna walks away. Before your brain can catch up to what you’re doing you grab a pen and run after her. “Hey Superstar! Wait up!”
Tierna turns around slowly and watches as you jog up to her. She’s extremely confused since she thought that she blew it with you once again. When you finally reach her you grab her arm and before either of you think about it you write your number on her arm. When you see the goofy smile spreading on her face as it dawns on her what just happened you knew that you made the right decision.
“Call me Superstar.” You say with a wink as you start walking back towards your desk.
As you walk back you hear a load yell and turn just in time to see Tierna land from her flying fist pump. You shake you head with a smile, this goofy girl held the key to your heart and she didn’t even know it yet.
On her way back to her dorm Tierna excitedly pulls out her phone to update the team.
Baby T: GUYS GUYS GUYS! I GOT HER NUMBER!!!
Pressi: That’s great sweetheart! Now, do we get a name for this mystery lady of yours?
Uncle: So I guess the plan worked?
Baby T: Oh yeah! Her name is (Y/N), and not exactly...
Frat Daddy Sr.: What do you mean “not exactly” it either worked or it didn’t
Baby T: Well you see, I was GOING to ask her out to coffee, but then she was flirting with me and called me babe out of nowhere so I panicked and asked for a book on how to make coffee...
Not so Baby Horse: Oh honey
Dasani: Wait how did you end up with her number then!?
Baby T: She ran up and wrote it on my arm when I was leaving
PewPew: So now that you got her number are you going to invite her to the game Saturday?
Baby T: Should I?
PewPew: You said she already knew who you were, so that means shes a fan right?
Baby T: Good point. Thanks!
Your shift ended almost an hour ago and you still haven’t heard anything back from Tierna. You were starting to worry that you had written your number down wrong when you hear your phone go off.
Unknown: Hey it’s Tierna
Maybe?Tierna: From Stanford
(Y/N): Hey Superstar, I was beginning to think you didn’t like me anymore ;)
Superstar: Oh, sorry lol. So we have a national team game coming up this Saturday in LA and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to come watch and like meet the team and stuff
Superstar: But like its totally cool if you already have plans, or if you don’t want to go
(Y/N): I’d love to
Superstar: Really? Awesome. Okay cool, I can’t wait.
(Y/N): Me either, I’ll see you Saturday
Saturday could not come soon enough, you drove 6 hours on Friday to get to your hotel and relax before the game. Tierna had to leave in the middle of the week to meet up with the rest of the team so this will be the first time you’ll be seeing her since you gave her your number. Luckily you bought her USWNT jersey last year so you’re able to show your support.
You get to the game early so you can watch the team warm up, when your eyes meet Tierna’s you can’t help the excited squeal you let out as you wave to her. She had pulled some strings to make sure that you got a seat close to the bench ans was excited to see that the staff went all out and gave you front row seats.
On the field Emily notices that Tierna has gotten distracted and follows her line of vision. When she shes your happy dance and notices your jersey a devilish smirk appears on her face before she calls out to the team.
“Hey look eveybody, T’s Sexy Librarian is here” Her snickering is interrupted by a thump on the back of her head from both Christen and Ali.
“Get your head out of the gutter Sonnett”
From your seat you watch on amused at the reaction that your presence has caused. Soon after that the game was starting, the US were playing the Korean Republic and while it would not be as exciting as a rivalry game it was still a very good game. Tierna started and played a full 90 with some great plays on the ball.
Once the game was over and most of their gear was packed up Kelley noticed that Tierna kept glancing back towards your seat behind the bench. Tierna jumped when she felt Kelley’s hand on her shoulder.
“Oh, hey Kelley”
“Just go ask her out already dude, you’ve been texting her non stop since you got here so I think its safe to say she likes you too.” She whispers in her ear.
“Now go get your sexy librarian!” She laughs as she shoves her towards you
You smile as you see that ever present blush start to creep up her face as she walks towards you. When she finally reaches you she takes a deep breath before speaking.
“(Y/N)? I really like you. As in make me forget my on name kinda like you. From the very first second I saw you in the library last week I was awestruck by your beauty. That’s why every time I came to the library instead of getting what I came for I left with some book I didn’t need. If you’ll let me I’d like to take you on a date so that we can get to know each other without a phone screen and 350 miles between us.”
Throughout her little speech your smile continued to grow, but towards the end you could read her face and see that the nerves were starting to fight their way to the surface so you decided to interrupt her before she could start rambling.
“Hey Superstar?”
“-oh uh, yes?”
With a smirk you watch her eyes go wide as you lean forward and grab the nape of her neck.
“Just shut up and kiss me already,”
For once she stopped overthinking and listened to her heart.

Nothing to Worry About [Christen Press x Reader]
Tumblr media
my first imagine/fic! got bored during quarantine so this is what i did with my time. any feedback is welcome! (also lemme know if i should write more) :))
Christen’s eyebrows furrow, as she watches you walk down the aisle of the bus, stopping to sit next to Alex Morgan, one of your best friends, instead of your usual spot next to her. Distracted by your absence, she doesn’t notice Tobin plop down in your spot.
“Where’s (Y/N)?” Tobin interrupts her friend’s thoughts. Christen gives no response, still looking in your direction, wanting your attention.
“Chris?”
Finally pulled out of her daze, Christen turns to her best friend, confusion and annoyance welled up in her eyes.
“She’s sitting with Alex.” She mumbles.
Tobin lets out a hum, sensing her friend’s disappointment. “I wouldn’t worry about it too much. (Y/N) probably just wanted to rant to her about Kelley’s antics last night.” Tobin shrugs it off and puts her headphones in, chilling before the game.
But Christen couldn’t just let this go. Her and (Y/N) had been bus buddies for as long as she could remember. Sparing another glance at you, she noticed you weren’t even talking to Alex, instead only listening to music. She racked her brain for anything that she could’ve done wrong but came up with nothing.
Once again, Christen was pulled out of her daydream by Tobin tapping her shoulder, indicating they had arrived at the stadium. Christen looks over towards where you had been sitting, hoping to see you still there, but the seat was empty. Were you avoiding her?
—————
Music fills the locker room, as the USWNT prepares for their Olympic qualifying match against England. Everyone was focused on their pregame rituals, Alex with her pink pre-wrap and Ali with her high bun, but Christen couldn’t focus, not when you wouldn’t even look at her.
On the other side of the room, you are just finishing tying your cleats and go to put your headphones back on. Tobin, whose locker is right next to yours, notices your leg bouncing up and down and your hands fidgeting with the hem of your jersey.
“Hey (Y/N), you alright?”
Barely hearing Tobin over your music, you turn to her and give her a nod, but not without nervously biting your lip. Returning to your music, you space out with your legs continuing to bounce and your hands still fidgeting.
Tobin takes the time to watch you, and thinks back to your behavior this morning on the bus. Maybe Christen did have something to be worried about.
—————
The game is in full swing, England roughly playing with tackle after tackle, trying to get revenge for the World Cup. Megan, Tobin, and (Y/N) had started on top, meaning Christen now sits next to Alex on the bench.
Christen watches as you play a diagonal ball out wide to Tobin, who then dribbles down the side line, faking more than a couple of England defenders out before sending a cross in the air towards Julie.
The entire bench watches as Julie Ertz does what Julie Ertz does best, as she heads the ball down away from the goalie and into the corner. The bench leaps up in cheers, as the usual celebration erupts from the crowd and the USWNT themselves.
As the ball moves back towards center field and the teams take their positions, the bench settles down, and Alex notices that Christen, who is usually one to be clapping and smiling when they score, is still sitting down with a slight frown.
“Press!” Alex hoping to get a reaction from the other forward. “We scored!”
Christen watches as Alex takes her seat next to her. She knows Alex is one of (Y/N)’s closest friends and probably knows what’s up with her. After a moment of internal conflict of whether she should pry and ask Alex or just wait to talk to (Y/N) herself, Christen lets out a sigh.
“Al?”
Alex turns to the other forward.
“Can I ask you a question?” Christen asks hesitantly.
Alex nods. “Sure. What’s up?”
“Has (Y/N) said anything to you? I mean she’s been acting distant all day, and I’m just worried that I might’ve done something wrong, but I don’t really know what to do, and I just want to make sure that I—”
Alex interrupts her. “Christen. You’re rambling.” Christen’s cheeks flush, as she looks down at her lap.
“Sorry,” She mumbles, “I just don’t know what’s wrong, and you’re her best friend…” She trails off.
Alex gives her an apologetic look. “Don’t worry about it, Press. But if it makes you feel better, she hasn’t said anything to me all day either, except for the occasional nod or shake of the head.”
Christen lets out a huff of frustration. What is going on with you?
Noticing the other forward’s mood, Alex tells her, “You have nothing to worry about. She’s probably just really nervous. This match is a big one for her, you know with England and all, but she’s also starting, and it’s one of her first times playing for Vlatko. Just talk to her about it.” Alex encourages, giving the older woman a reassuring smile.
Christen nods, trying to calm herself down. “You’re right. She’s probably just nervous. She always gets like that before big matches.”
As she continues to watch the green eyed forward, Alex hopes that she’s right, for Christen’s sake.
—————
The locker room is once again filled with Pinoe’s music, as the USWNT celebrates their 1-0 win against England, Julie’s lone goal putting them ahead. Most of the team is up and dancing, led by Crystal and Sonnett, and some of the youngsters are playing charades with Kelley, but (Y/N) is still sitting at her locker, lost in her own head.
Christen takes in a deep breath, finally deciding to confront you about what’s been bothering you. She sits in Tobin’s locker next to you.
“Hey.” She gives you a soft smile.
“Hi.”
“Are you okay?” She puts her hand on your knee to stop it from bouncing. With that, you look at her for the first time today.
“Mhmm.” You give her a slight nod. Christen looks at you skeptically, not believing you.
“Are you sure? Because you’ve been distant all day. And I thought it was just because you were nervous for the match but you’re still acting a little off, and you’re fidgeting so I just wanted to make sure—”
“Will you go on a date with me?” You blurt out, interrupting Christen’s little ramble.
And with just your luck, your outburst comes right as the song ends, leaving the locker room quiet, so the rest of the team could hear your voice. The whole room turns towards where you and Christen are sitting. Even Vlatko turns his attention to two of his best forwards.
You feel your cheeks warm. Christen’s eyes widen, looking more confused than she did before. Trying to keep this conversation as private as possible, although there was no point, as the entire team is now listening to what you both have to say, Christen leans towards you.
“What did you say?”
You close your eyes and take a deep breath. “I said, will you go on a date with me?”
Christen lets out a little chuckle of amusement, as her eyes sparkle and her smile widens. She cups your cheek and pulls you in for a quick kiss. You happily accept her lips against yours, smiling into the kiss. Quickly pulled out of the bliss, you realize Christen still hasn’t answered your question.
“So is that a yes?”
You hear a couple of laughs from the team and a loud snort, which is no doubt from Kelley. You ignore your teammates, no matter how much you adore them, and focus on the woman in front of you, awaiting her answer.
Christen observes you, noticing the eagerness and nervousness written across your face. She gives you a smile, one that is only reserved for you, giggling at how adorable you are.
“(Y/N/N), you do know that we’re married?”
With that, the USWNT explodes with laughs and smiles, amused by your behavior. By now, you’re sure your whole face is red, as you turn to hide your face in your wife’s neck, giving a slight nod to answer her question.
Christen gives you a quick kiss to your temple.
“Is that what you’ve been nervous about all day, babe?”
You bring your face out of her neck, and smile sheepishly. “Maybe…”
Christen bites her cheek, attempting to hide her smile at her wife’s actions. “I love you.” She kisses you. “So much.” She whispers against your lips.
Before you get lost and melt in your wife’s kisses, you pull away.
“So is that a yes?”
She rolls her eyes lovingly at you and places a kiss on the top of your nose.
“Pick me up at 8.” Christen gets up from her seat and heads towards the bus. Looking back at you, she smirks, “And don’t be late.” She throws you a wink, leaving you sitting in your locker, with a lovestruck grin on your face, ignoring the teasing from the rest of your teammates.

The next day at breakfast, as you’re up at the buffet getting food for both you and your wife, Alex sets her plate down across from Christen. Just as she’s about to take a bite of her fruit bowl, Alex spots a hickey peeking out from the older forward’s sweatshirt. Alex gives her a knowing smirk, as Christen blushes.
“I told you you had nothing to worry about.”
