Light. Everything felt light—your head, body, voice, heart.
It felt like all the weight of your shoulders had been lifted, and you could be as carefree as a bird soaring through cerulean skies to be one with the wind. Because right this very moment, nothing mattered at all, not even the fact that you stood before the person you’ve been trying to avoid since the new year rolled around.
Tucked neatly at the back of your mind like a silent reminder, you knew you shouldn’t trust your intoxicated self right now—whether it be your thoughts or feelings but the urge to stop wasn’t there, and you felt extremely optimistic about this—all thanks to the burning alcohol that clouded every bit of your judgement.
Everything felt right.
As you met his caramel gaze, your vision tunnelled, everyone, and everything that surrounded both of you slowly turned into nothing but a mix of hazy hues, upbeat music that spilled from the speakers fading into the distance as you, and Atsumu entered your own world—even the orange-haired male with the bright, doe eyes melted away from your view.
Just you, and Atsumu, exactly how it was supposed to be.
With a bated breath, Atsumu wordlessly nodded, and awaited your next move, as if shackled in a hazy trance. He was fully aware of the thundering heartbeat that rang in his ears, the way his slender fingers ever so slightly dug into the scarlet plastic cup in his hand, cheeks burning with unexplainable emotions.
“Let’s talk somewhere else.”
It took all the effort for Atsumu to ignore the feeling of your bare skin against his, the searing touch of your fingers around his wrist as you hurriedly whisked him away into the intimate space of their kitchen, as if to shield you both from everyone else’s prying eyes. Despite a stained judgement, the blonde was sure no one gave a single damn if you were to talk it out in the living room, everyone was in their own buzz anyway.
Nonetheless, Atsumu let you take the lead, whatever you wanted, he obliged. As though he was floating on cloud nine, his body became lighter with each step taken, head lightly spinning, warmth that radiated from your palm seeped into his flushed skin, prickly, miniature kisses engulfing his body.
“I’m okay now.” Resting your lower back against the ivory granite countertops, you stare up at Atsumu through your lashes, not noticing your lingering fingers curled around his wrist. For a brief moment, your breath hitched, stomach churning at the sight before you. The lighting behind Atsumu made him look like absolute heaven, flaxen strands glowing like the first rays beneath the warm illuminant, casting an ethereal halo at the back of his head. It didn’t help how he stared down as if your eyes held the cosmos in them, completely awestruck.
Whatever, you chalked it up to his intoxicated state. What else could it have been?
For a brief moment, Atsumu wracked his brain for context behind your words, and as the invisible lightbulb atop his head switched on, he was reminded of the situation at hand. It definitely pulled his consciousness into sobriety. Just a tad bit.
“A-are y’sure?” A breathless, almost dainty whisper slipped past his rosy lips. He took note of the way your gaze shifted ever so slightly downwards, eyes crudely lingering on the plush of his bottom lip as his tongue briefly swiped against it.
Atsumu’s Adam’s apple bobbed at your not-so-subtle stare, stomach churning with want. He knew this feeling all too well—it visited him whenever he was alone in his room, mind wandering over to thoughts of you which filled every corner of his mind; sometimes the feeling was too strong, other times he could bear it. Tonight, though, Atsumu wasn’t sure if he was immune to this feeling, let alone erase any impulsive thoughts from his intoxicated mind.
What pulled you into this decision was something you’d never figure out; maybe it was the fact that your yearning heart grew tired of the icy distance between the two of you or maybe you’ve truly come to terms with his unreciprocated feelings—you didn’t know. All you knew was that nothing good ever came out of inebriated conversations, especially when it involved feelings. But this could be an exception, right?
“So . . Does that mean we can be friends again?”
It was weird. Atsumu’s voice brimmed with a sense of hope—as if he’s been waiting for this very moment for the past two weeks—but the strange glint in his caramel eyes betrayed the blonde entirely.
Despite your better judgement, you chalked it up to the warm light that casted a soft shadow upon his features; maybe you were too dizzy to see things clearly, or maybe you were looking too deep into Atsumu’s expression—hoping to find some sort of sadness upon hearing your decision to move on, and accept his rejection.
Atsumu watched as your eyes traced his features, closely observing them as if to find some kind of answer; as selfish as it seemed, the intensity in your eyes gave him a tinge of hope that perhaps you could let yourself pine over him just a little longer because he wasn’t sure what he’d do with the knowledge that your heart would no longer yearn for him.
The situation was a double-edged sword, really.
You let out a puff of breath, “Yeah, of course. We’re friends again.” Friends. That word should have given you more relief than sorrow but could you really blame yourself? It felt like a bitter reminder of cold rejection which resembled salt pressed against an unhealed wound, a searing itch that left your skin feverish.
Even if it meant selling yourself short.
Avoiding his eye contact, you swiftly unwound your fingers from his wrist, mentally cursing yourself for not noticing any sooner. A cold embrace engulfed Atsumu’s wrist, where your fingers were mere seconds ago, he tried his best to ignore how his body yearned for your warmth. He gave a small smile, one that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
For a moment, you stood in each other’s silence like two predators sizing up one another, eagerly waiting for one’s move before pouncing, the silent hum of the fridge making up for the lack of conversation between one another.
How strange, this agreement should have cleared the unsettled air between you, and Atsumu but why did it feel like the complete opposite? As if the air turned into something more uncertain. You both knew you could feel the uncanny tension rising up, up, up but not one dared to address it.
Swiftly burying it under the rug, Atsumu spoke, thinly slicing through your trance, “You’ll find someone better.”
God, he must’ve really matured this new year because he didn’t know how he was able to say that straight to your face. Being one to wear his heart on his sleeve, this was completely foreign for Atsumu—or maybe he just got better at masking his true emotions.
You closed your eyes upon hearing his response, as if doing so would help you brave the weight of his words. It didn’t. That was the last thing you wanted Atsumu to say to you, ‘someone better’, it was brazen of him to think so poorly of himself, as though he wasn’t that certain someone. It was entirely unfair on your end because who was Atsumu to determine which person was for you?
Even just thinking about it had you fuming, rejection was one thing but completely disregarding the reason behind your feelings for him was another because in your eyes, Miya Atsumu was that ‘someone better’; he was the one who understood you the most, the one who always looked out for you, the one you fucking wanted.
And despite your mind telling you to nod along, and suck it up, the alcohol in your body was stronger; so, you opened your eyes, and furrowed your brows at him,
Nothing good ever came out of inebriated conversations.
“But I don’t want anyone better, Tsumu. I want you.”
Atsumu’s eyes widened, the desperation in your voice was something he hadn't heard before, it definitely pulled at his heart, guilt gnawing at his skin for being the sole reason for your drunken actions. He may be drunk but he wasn’t stupid, Atsumu knew you should’ve kept that one to yourself, he could practically see you brimming with temerity but he’d be lying to himself if he said his heart didn’t skip a beat or two.
I want you, too. God, he wanted to say it back badly. The words were lodged in his throat, unable to slip past his lips despite the best efforts to do so.
It dawned on him—right then, and there—the severity of your feelings for him, the immense weight of it. Now, guilt really ate him away; he could only imagine how the past two weeks were for you. Did you cry while thinking about him?
That was the last thing Atsumu wanted.
Though, amidst the guilt, something else blossomed in his chest, it made him feel like he stood upon the highest pedestal. Atsumu didn’t know whether it was pride or greed; as fucked up as it was, he couldn’t bring himself to push the impulsiveness away as though you’ve infected him with your own. His heart hammered at a thought that formed in his mind, even just thinking about it stirred his chest.
Despite Atsumu’s better judgement, he held onto the feeling with a tight grip, and opened his mouth, tongue nervously swiping at the bottom lip,
Nothing good ever came out of inebriated conversations.
“Is . . Is it bad that I really want to kiss you right now?”
You sucked in a breath, heart pounding at Atsumu’s sudden confession. If you were sober, you’d have a million thoughts racing through your mind right now, questioning the feelings he really had for you but unfortunately, only one thing was on your mind—how badly you wanted to kiss Atsumu too.
Dragging yourself further down, down, down the void of uncertainty, you shook your head in a daze,
Nothing good ever came out of inebriated conversations.
“What if I say I want to kiss you, too?”
Barely audible but Atsumu heard it just fine over the pounding of his heart, over the incoherent conversations beyond this kitchen, over the muted bass music because as long as it's you, he’d always listen, even if it meant drowning out the entire world.
Then, there was a heartbeat, a passing second, a dip of a finger to test undisturbed waters; the funny thing was that even a minute disturbance could cause a ripple effect for miles, and miles, awakening the dormant creatures that lay beyond the azure surface.
It was swift, as though Atsumu had been waiting for this very moment to happen—one second you were locked in a trance, the next his lips were pressed against your own, a shared warmth of intimacy searing both bodies in an eternal blaze like a blue flame that dangerously destroyed everything in its path.
Shy. Warm. Soft. Rosy. Like it was meant to be. The list could go on, and on but it was as though your thoughts came quickly before your mind could register them, leaving you in a white, empty haze. With the plastic cups long forgotten on the counter behind, you closed your eyes as Atsumu’s body eagerly pressed against yours, strong arms coming up to rest on the granite countertop behind you, fingers digging into the material to ground himself.
For a moment, everything was still, lips unmoving against each other, a time to bask in this newfound intimacy—the foreignness of one another’s body. The earth felt like it spun on its axis way faster than usual, as if day, and night merged to become one; hues of late dusk, and early dawn intertwined like your bodies.
Bitterness from Atsumu’s rosy lips lingered on your own; you never liked the taste of beer but oddly enough, you didn’t mind it at all.
Your hands cupped Atsumu’s jaw, fingers gently digging onto his soft skin, eager for more as your lips moulded together. Slowly moving his mouth against your own, you followed suit to match the sensual pace he had set, falling deeper, and deeper between the hazy boundaries of friendship, and something a little more. Low whimpers slipped past between each feverish kiss as a drunken greed gradually controlled your bodies.
The initial softness of the kiss dissipated as each second passed, slowly turning into something more carnal, and passionate—breaths becoming heavier, and faces eagerly pressed against one another, angled in a way to grant more access.
Was this what cloud nine felt like? Exhilarating? Euphoric? As though there was no one else—
“Oh!—Holy shit. Did I interrupt?”
A familiar voice violently pulled you, and Atsumu back into reality, swiftly jumping away from each other’s hold, and looking over to the owner of the voice. Suna. The brunette stared at both of you—looking like a deer caught in headlights, chests heaving—his expression was unreadable, almost like a mix of shock, and amusement. You, and Atsumu kissing in the kitchen was absolutely not in his new year bingo card.
Well, this encounter certainly was enough to strip you into sobriety.
Your head spun a little, lungs severely deprived of oxygen. Shame, and realisation settled deep in your bones—shame because Suna just caught you, and Atsumu almost sucking the soul out of each other, and realisation because everything about this whole situation was so wrong; a million questions formulated in your mind as each awkward second passed.
On the other hand, Atsumu was equally as horrified, albeit annoyed that he didn’t have the chance to kiss you longer. The thrumming of his heart pounded in his ears, his mind trying to come up with anything to say just to stop the thoughts formulating in Suna’s mind—oh, he knows that look on his friend’s face very well.
Your view became obstructed by the expanse of Atsumu’s back, a subtle attempt to block you from the brunette’s gaze.
“W-what the hell, Suna?! Don’t jus’ barge into the kitchen, ya scrub!” Atsumu tried his best to act tough but miserably failed with the shakiness in his voice betraying him.
As if to make matters worse, Suna didn’t back down, a smug look painted on his flushed face as the blonde shamelessly blamed him,
“Well, how was I supposed to know that you two were sucking each other’s faces in the kitchen?!”
Did he have to word it like that?
Atsumu opened, and closed his mouth, trying to think of ways to deny Suna’s accusations but his mind went blank, even with just the brunette mentioning your kiss had him blushing like a mad man. Silence yet again occupied the kitchen, low bass music spilled from the speakers, and incoherent chatters from beyond the space making up for the lack of conversation.
Before the situation could get even more awkward, you spoke up, “I . . think I’m just going to go . . ” This gained both their attention, carefully watching as you navigated past Atsumu, and out the kitchen.
The blonde watched as you staggered past him, and Suna; he wanted to go after you, and talk about what just happened but the soles of his feet stayed rooted on the ground, too heavy to lift, even the words he wanted to say were lodged in his throat.
So, Atsumu decided it was best to let you go.
Monday.
Everyone’s enemy but also a day to gather around the campus coffee shop with friends, and be productive for a while. The calming aroma of coffee engulfed your senses; low chatter from other customers, faint jazz music, and the occasional hum of the coffee machine filled the table from the lack of conversation. Despite the café’s light ambience, it didn’t do much to hide the growing tension that surrounded the group, specifically you, Atsumu, and Suna.
Kita was the first to notice the subtle shift of aura that emanated from you three, especially after catching a glimpse of Suna’s narrow eyes trailing from you to Atsumu over his laptop screen; though, he had much more things to worry about than to indulge himself in whatever tomfoolery this was. He’d ask questions later.
On the other hand, Osamu was more than curious, especially after his older twin started acting out of character—Atsumu wasn’t one to engulf himself in thoughts to the point where he’d be staring at an inanimate object, in a complete daze but lately, Osamu has seen him behave as such.
The latter could practically feel the weight of awkwardness pressing against his skin as he subtly watched the three of you. Of course, he did his best to pry off information from the blonde only to no avail; Osamu didn’t know why Suna was even caught up in this but he suspected it was from the party a few days ago.
He remembered seeing you stumble out of the kitchen when he was on his way to grab more drinks from their fridge, the younger twin thought nothing of it until he was met with Suna, and Atsumu awkwardly standing in the kitchen. Normally, Osamu would’ve asked questions that night but the alcohol in him couldn’t care less about the situation.
Staring at the untouched document pulled up on your laptop, you ducked behind your screen to avoid Suna’s wandering gaze, and Osamu’s not-so-subtle curiosity. This was hell. You didn’t even know why you decided to turn up today after that shit show at the party—maybe because you thought you could shove down that memory especially after telling Atsumu that you were fine or maybe you craved the closeness you two once had, and now you were here to rebuild that.
As easy as it sounded, you feared it might not be so with the way Atsumu has been avoiding you like the plague. First, it started when you walked into the café at the same time as the twins, Osamu greeted you at the door before heading inside leaving you, and Atsumu outside. Now, that would’ve been fine if the latter didn’t make a show of taking a couple of steps back to let you go first as though you carried some kind of incurable disease.
The second time was when Atsumu realised the only vacant seat was next to your own, thus, asking to swap with Osamu just so he could sit farthest away from you. And the third was when you had asked him if he was alright while waiting in line to order only to be met with a mindless nod before returning to his phone in his hand.
You tried your very best to ignore the blooming pain in your chest; sure, being sad about Atsumu possibly avoiding you was reasonable but then again, you were the one who told him you were okay now—how Atsumu decided to act after the party was beyond your control.
God but it pissed you off. Swallowing one’s pride, and making effort to rekindle a cold friendship was not an easy feat when the other doesn’t do the same. It shouldn’t work you up this much but it did, and now you were second guessing yourself that maybe it was an irrational decision to abruptly tell Atsumu that you’ve come to terms with moving on.
That night at the party, were you lying to yourself just so you could be around him again?
Whatever. It was too late to take it back anyway.
The days ahead were monotonous, and boring; you, and Atsumu remained orbiting around one another, careful not to get into each other’s path of trajectory but it was tiring. Not only did it feel like navigating through eggshells while he was around but the constant questions from your friends tested your limits. Though, it wasn’t their fault for simply being curious, and getting left in the dark about the whole situation but the prying felt like endless jabs of sharp needles along your skin.
From their point of view, you, and Atsumu were stubborn about the whole situation. None dared to speak up about it, acting as though everything was fine, so your friends were left with very little to work with.
It felt like a game of cat, and mouse where you were the feline chasing Atsumu around. The longer the days dragged on, the more thoughts formulated in your mind, and they all involved the blonde in some way or another. And just like everyone else, you had your limits too; you were tired of Atsumu acting like a stubborn idiot.
When you confessed to Atsumu, sure, you expected an awkward phase but this was even worse. There wasn’t just distance between the two of you, it felt like you were strangers.
He was known for brashly saying the sharp truth, so why couldn’t he be straightforward with you? Was he disgusted by the kiss, and deeply regretted it? Did he think you were weird? You didn’t know, but you were bound to find out even if it meant knocking at the twin’s apartment door at 5:45 PM on a cold, rainy Thursday.
With the sun hidden behind the looming grey clouds, the late winter afternoon was even darker; the roads were packed with vehicles while the sidewalks occupied students, and company workers alike trying their best to shield themselves from the heavy downpour. Despite the streets being illuminated with a tinge of warm yellow from cars, and streetlights, it did nothing to brighten up the gloomy day.
Funny, it was as though the universe knew how you felt today.
“If yer lookin’ for ‘Samu, he won’t be back until 8 PM.” Greeted with Atsumu’s shocked face as the ivory door to their apartment opened, you couldn’t help but visibly roll your eyes at his stubbornness. Yeah, like you’d be here at their apartment looking for Osamu—you knew each of their timetables like the back of your hand.
Flaxen strands that sat atop his head were unruly, a sign that he must’ve been taking a nap sometime ago. Atsumu donned a light blue hoodie paired with black sweats; you tried your best not to ogle the man, after all, you were here for a sensible talk.
“I’m here for you, Miya.”
Atsumu gripped the metal handle a little tighter, the coolness of it seeping into the warmth of his skin. He tried not to flinch at the sudden formality of the conversation. Nonetheless, the blonde pulled the door wider, a wordless invite to their humble space. Giving him a small smile before walking inside, you tried not to think about the last time you were here, and how you found yourself drunkenly kissing Atsumu in their kitchen.
The sound of the door closing shut behind Atsumu reverberated throughout the walls of their apartment, followed by a deafening silence. Met with his honeyed stare, you awkwardly coughed, and played with the hem of your jacket, “I’m not going to take up too much of your time . . but I do just have one question.”
There was a momentary silence as Atsumu waited for you to proceed; he had so many questions running through his mind right now, and it took all his willpower to hold them back, and let you speak instead. It was getting harder, and harder to focus as each second passed with the pounding of his heart—Atsumu didn’t know what to expect.
“Did you—Did you regret that kiss . . ?”
Your skin burned as the question lingered in the air, a beat or two before Atsumu finally spoke up, “. . N-no, why’d ya ask?”
Sighing, impatience prickled your feverish skin. ‘Why’d you ask?’  What the hell does he mean by why would I ask? We made out for fuck sake, that’s something friends don’t do! Why is he acting so casual about it?
“God, this just made it a lot worse. I have so many fucking questions that my mind wants to explode right now,” Pinching the bridge of your nose, you slowly paced back, and forth, the floors beneath silently creaking with each step. So, Atsumu didn’t regret the kiss but he’s acting like you’re strangers—fucking hell, why did he even kiss you in the first place?!
Your mind was a complete mess.
Trying to calm yourself down with slow, deep breaths, you decided to address the elephant in the room first, “Then why have you been avoiding me, Atsumu?—I’m sorry but I’m the one who got rejected, I cannot think of any reason why you should be avoiding me like this.” Atsumu hated that look on your face—the desperation, the sadness, the frustration. He never thought that he’d be the one making you feel all these negative emotions, and it pained him as much as it pained you.
Atsumu let out a sigh, carefully formulating the right words into a coherent sentence, “I’m just . . trying to be careful, okay?” His stomach dropped as your face contorted with more confusion.
Did he say something wrong?
“Careful about what, Atsumu?! You—ugh! It’s so hard to talk to you when you’re giving me all these stupidly vague answers! I’ve already told you I was fine. I don’t care anymore that you don’t like me back. I just want us to be back to normal again.”
Now, it was Atsumu’s turn to be upset. He couldn’t bear the thought of you moving on so quickly, and that’s why he’s been acting distant lately; it annoyed him how easy it was for you to talk to him like nothing happened but Atsumu knew he couldn’t tell you the reason—why couldn’t you just try, and understand his situation? Rejecting wasn’t an easy task to do, especially if it was the person he had been hopelessly pining for.
“Well—maybe things aren’t meant ta back ta normal!”
What?
You stared at him for a second, brows furrowed as you tried to comprehend his words that lingered in the cold air of their apartment. Silence engulfed the two of you, the distant sounds of Hyōgo’s late afternoon rain seeping through the slightly opened window.
“Do you feel uncomfortable around me after knowing the fact that I have feelings for you? Is that it?” “God, no—I could never feel that way.”
It took all of Atsumu’s patience not to wrap his arms around you—he wanted to hold you against him badly; that defeated look on your face broke his heart but he couldn’t bring himself to do so. Maybe Atsumu was the coward after all.
“Then tell me what’s wrong, ‘Tsumu!”
“It’s hard f’me as well, y’know?!” “What is?”
Atsumu closed his eyes, the words he’s been wanting to scream at the top of his lungs lodged in his throat, threatening to slip out. A wave of adrenaline rush coursed through his veins, heart pounding like crazy with this newfound high, it made him feel as though he was invincible—as if he could say anything, and everything without a care for its consequences.
Fuck it.
“Fuck—It’s because I like ya back, okay?! I always have! And rejectin’ ya was so goddamn hard f’me because I’m still not over ya. God, I think about ya every single second, and it pains me so much because yer already movin’ on, and ‘m still stuck here.”
What?
Flabbergasted, you stared at Atsumu all wide-eyed, the thrumming of your heart becoming increasingly loud against your ears as each slow second passed. Did he just say he liked you back? As though mother nature was watching, the rain outside poured harder; sounds of droplets of heavy water against the roof filled the silent apartment, pulling you back into reality.
“Then why—If you feel the same way then why did you reject me?”
When you knocked on the door to the twins’ apartment, you expected a sincere conversation with Atsumu, not him confessing his feelings out of the blue. You were absolutely speechless—you didn’t know whether to jump for joy because he actually does like you back or whether to massage your temples from pure confusion.
“Back then during the trip, ya told me ya weren’t ready for a relationship yet, and that ya only wanted ta confess ta get rejected n’ move on. I wanted ta respect yer decision, so . .”
Flashbacks of said conversation from the trip quickly came into mind, and how you told Atsumu about not being ready for a relationship yet.
Oh.
Oh.
The weight of frustration from your shoulders slowly dissipated, the pent up annoyance you held in your heart was gone too. Suddenly, you weren’t so frustrated anymore after learning about the whole truth behind the situation. You were able to breathe better with the bad air finally cleared between you, and Atsumu.
Looking at it now, you felt absolutely silly. The whole situation turned out to be one big misunderstanding, it was almost laughable—now, you truly understood the essence of communication is key.
You let out a humourless laugh, “You’re so stupid, you know that?” Taking a few steps toward the blonde, you leaned your forehead against his chest, a hand coming up to curl into a fist to lightly hit it; a faint scent of his musky cologne lingered on the fabric of his hoodie, effectively invading your senses. Atsumu didn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around your torso, pulling your body flush against his before resting his chin on the crown of your head.
For a beat or two, you, and Atsumu remained in each other’s hold, basking in the cosy atmosphere.
“Would I be more stupid if I tell ya I want ta pick up where we left off at the party?”
Before you knew it your lips were sealed in a searing kiss—this time, it felt raw, all things passionate, and eager. Hands impatiently roaming each other’s unexplored bodies, sounds of wet kisses slowly filling up the apartment. The atmosphere shifted from cosy to something more sensual, light groans, and moans slipping in between each kiss.
Your hands rested on Atsumu’s golden strands, fingers gently tugging at it as he worked his lips down the column of your neck, teeth lightly nipping at the feverish skin. Atsumu focused on a certain spot just below your ear, nipping, and sucking at it which pulled a dainty whine from your lips.
“‘T-Tsumu—Ah!” You gasped, his tongue leaving trails of goosebumps beneath its sinful licks against your skin. He cursed under his breath, the dizzying tone of your voice awakening the slumbering carnal beast that resided in his core. With each dulcet moan that slipped past your swollen lips, Atsumu became greedier, he wasn’t going to settle for mere kisses on your skin—he needed to hear more.
Pulling away from your intoxicating scent, Atsumu looked down at you with parted lips, and hooded eyes, caramel gaze clouded with nothing but pure desire. “I think we should take this ta my room.” He panted.
Nodding at his proposal, hurried footsteps padded over to his room as though each second wasted was crucial. As soon as the door behind Atsumu slammed shut, his lips were on yours once again, strong hands deftly working on the layers of clothing you wore, slowly slipping them off of you one by one; Atsumu could practically feel himself shaking with nervousness, and excitement.
Discarding your top on the wooden floor beneath, Atsumu stared wide-eyed at your torso, both hands coming up to cup your breasts through the fabric of your bra, earning a low moan from you. The air of the room felt cold against your skin but Atsumu’s touch was enough to ignite you.
“So beautiful . .” He absent-mindedly gasped, a lovestruck look in his honeyed eyes.
Hands eagerly tugging at the hem of his hoodie, Atsumu swiftly pulled the fabric off his torso in one movement, golden strands tousled from the action. Goosebumps formed upon his sun kissed skin, bare torso met with the cold winter air; your eyes raked Atsumu’s physique up, and down, shamelessly ogling his muscled chest in all its naked glory. God, you used to just fantasise about this, and now it was served right in front of you on a silver platter.
You decorated each other’s skin with endless love bites, sinful hues of dark red, and purple peppered along your chest, and neck. Atsumu took his sweet time to savour every bit of you—your taste, your scent, your sounds, everything. He made sure to bask in your serene beauty, the gentle glow of your bare figure before utterly devouring you like a starved animal, ravaging your purity with carnal desire.
Atsumu let himself go at the raw intimacy of your bodies, the feeling of your sweet warmth brought tears of pleasure in his eyes as he pushed, and pushed towards the newfound ecstasy you both shared. The chant of his name slipped past your lips like a sinful melody, mere fuel to the relentless drive of his hips. But Atsumu held you dearly against his naked body through it all, fingers intertwined with your own as he keenly chased both your pleasures, choked out moans of your name whispered hotly against your sensitive skin.
And as you both tipped over the edge, Atsumu didn’t fail to tell you how much he loved you in between each pathetic moan as he painted your insides white, the dizzying pleasure contorting his handsome face in pure ecstasy. You held him in your arms, nails digging crescent-shaped marks on his skin, whispering saccharine praises to him as you let go, and emptied the words of your heart.
As the gentle aftermath of the passionate exchange rolled around, Atsumu held you in his arms, hearts beating as one, and lulling you both to sleep. The last thing you heard was a faint ‘I love you’ before passing out from exhaustion.
“‘Tsumu, what did ya want for—Oh my god! What the fuck?!”
A familiar voice abruptly pulled you, and Atsumu out of your sleep, followed by the loud bang of his door slamming shut. Muffled expletives from outside the room could be heard as you both stirred beneath the ivory sheets. “‘Tsumu, what the hell?! Ya should’ve warned me before I went into yer room!” Osamu yelled from the other side of the door.
Atsumu groaned, rubbing his face before turning to the door, “Shut yer trap! Ya should’ve knocked!” At his twin’s silence, he let out a sigh, and slung a heavy arm around your waist, pulling you flush against his naked body before closing his eyes once again.
You let out a soft chuckle, “We really need to stop getting caught. First, Suna, and now Osamu.” Atsumu hummed in response, too sleepy to even think or form a coherent sentence. Snuggling closer to him, you closed your eyes, and went back to sleep as well.
Oh, you could get used to this.
Winter slowly turned into spring as March rolled around—the end of the academic year.
Trees that were once bare slowly blossomed with flowers, hues of yellows, and browns were replaced with endless greenery, and frigid air became more welcoming like a warm embrace. Most importantly, the cold distance between you, and Atsumu no longer existed, instead, it was replaced by fluttering heartbeats, and fluffy moments that hinted at a sweet forevermore.
“There he is! How does it feel to be a fresh graduate!” Suna whistled as Kita walked over to the group, clad in a black academic gown with a matching trencher propped neatly on his head, the golden tassel on the cap swayed with every step taken; he donned a warm smile, one hand holding his well-deserved degree.
The buzz of excitement outside the venue was high, the graduation ceremony having finished just a few minutes ago. You were all surrounded by graduands, all with heartfelt smiles on their faces as they conversed with family, and friends alike.
As your friends fell into a merry conversation, a warm hand interlaced with your own, giving your hand a comfortable squeeze. Atsumu. Looking up at your boyfriend, he cheekily leaned into your ear, whispering an ‘I love you’ before slowly blinking at you, mirroring a cat’s action. You let out a small laugh, shaking your head at his antics.
“Are you two lovebirds done, now?” Suna coughed, pulling you back into reality.
Met with amused expressions plastered on your friends’ faces, you, and Atsumu returned a sheepish smile before joining in their conversation. “Anyway, we were talkin’ about how we should celebrate Kita’s graduation. It can also serve as a treat for us for makin’ it through another academic year.” Osamu explained, earning a hum of approval from you, and Atsumu.
“How about a spring trip to Kyoto?” —

movie theatre - chapter 11
warning: mentions of nsfw kinda??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“suna..?”
“yes shizuku?” suna sat up in his sit straight.
“where did y/n go? osamu isn’t here either.” shizuku questioned, not caring about the movie anymore.
“oh! osamu went to the bathroom” atsumu added. getting shushed by the people next to him when he said “oh!”
“maybe yn went to go get more popcor-“
new message from yn!! <3
i went to the bathroom,,the popcorn made my stomach hurt 😁 i’ll be back soon !!
“she went to the bathroom.” shizuku noted and turned off her phone.
“no way osamu AND yn went to the bathroom at the same time” atsumu said while taking a bite out of his own popcorn
“they are most probably making out right now as we talk or doing something beyond that” atsumu assumed. suna laughed at what he said but shizuku didn’t find it funny at all.
“okay”
“but no way they are. yn just texted me earlier about being mad at osamu” she said under her breath. getting comfortable in her chair next to suna again.
“did you say something shizuku?”
“no”
“there’s really nothing wrong about that though right?” suna went on. trying his hardest to get shizuku to pay attention to him.
“i guess”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“HAHSHAH” osamu laughed super loud. i swear the people inside the corner store could hear him.
“ouch..” i had tripped going down the stairs. when trying to walk down, i missed a step and had my phone in my hand so i wasn’t holding onto the rail. when i opened my eyes i saw osamu’s chest infront of me.
i had fell right into osamu and he was holding onto me so i couldn’t fall. his hands on my lower back, gripping onto the sides of my (favorite color) jacket. this is the closest i’ve ever been to osamu and it lowkey felt comfortable like this.
“shit yn, your ankle” osamu said while loosening his grip under my waist and holding me up correctly so he could go down to my ankle.
“wait! osamu watch your step-“
he tripped on a big crack in the sidewalk, falling on the ground and bringing me down with him.
this would be so awkward if anybody was watching us right now, we look fucking stupid.
we both laughed but not that loud this time.
“we look fucking dumb right now samu” i laughed out with him. i could tell he was watching me while laughing but i didn’t wanna say anything.
“yn”
“yeah samu?” he gently cupped my face in his right hand. and brought me closer to him. looking at me for a moment before tilting my face that’s cupped into his hand up to place his lips on mine.
it was shorter than i expected it to be. i wanted it to last longer, i want to stay like this for a couple more seconds but he pulled back. and i touched my lips although he stood up quick and held his hand out to help me up from the cold concrete.
“holy shit yn...im sorry if that was unexpected, how’s your ankle? did it get any worse?”
“osamu shut up”
“what?” he jointed his head in my direction.
i brought his face closer to mine, kissing him once more. i didn’t want this feeling to leave, it’s finally back after so long and im not letting it slip away. he placed his hand on the side of my face and started to slide his other down my back, a little bit too far down but i caught him and rested his hand on my waist. i don’t want it to go that fast now, especially not outside of a corner store.
i broke the kiss and followed with
“do you still think i like atsumu?”
“no, not a chance” osamu smiled and brought me into a kiss again.
his phone vibrated inside his pants pocket. he pulled away again. taking his phone out of his pocket and turning it on.
“hold on yn, im so sorry” he pleaded. kissing the side of my mouth softly and then turning around to answer whatever he got.
“its okay” i stepped back and wiped my mouth with the back off my hand. after that i looked back up to osamu
“who is it?” i asked, peeking behind his back. he turned back around, facing me.
“it was atsumu” he chuckled
“what did he say?”
“he says the movie is about to end soon, we should hurry back” he smiled and grabbed my hand gently.
“okay! let’s go then” i smiled back while nodding.
“im right behind you.” i added
“no, you’re walking next to me” he walked slower to get to where i was at. walking with me.
“yn”
“yeees?” i turned my head to him, and he already had my hand that he was holding next to his mouth.
planting two small kisses on the back of my hand. smiling while my hand covered his mouth.
“let’s hurry”

late-night snacking (s)
Tumblr media
part of the autumn experiences collection.
pairing: osamu miya x reader
genre: smut
warnings: fem!receiving oral
words: 1.8k
summary: let me please you.
prompt: feast
You've come to realize that your boyfriend is essentially a human heater. Osamu seems like he'd be the stereotypical cold man who just couldn't (and wouldn't) extend his emotions to others, but that just wasn't right. Having dated the man for five years, you'd come to realize that he wasn't prickly and cold but rather eager to show how much he cared about people close to him.
He wasn't too forward about that either, but you knew what he was trying to do.
Curled up into his side on the couch, you're partly thankful your heater was all the way in storage and the two of you were too lazy to fish it out. Osamu's body heat was much nicer to be curled up against, and his relaxed breathing soothed you; it made you feel sleepy.
"You're gonna miss the best part if you fall asleep," he looked down at you and squeezed your shoulder before motioning to the romcom movie.
"I'm not sleeping. I'm just...relaxing."
He was not convinced but hummed and settled back on the movie. You'd chosen it, of course, the cheesy plots and stereotypical tropes always made your heart melt because they were just so cute but poorly done—something about things not being absolutely perfect made your heart do flips.
Like 'Samu. He wasn't perfect, but you adored him. He had trouble expressing his emotions when problems were occurring, that always led to a lot of back and forth silence until one of you broke. It was annoying, you hated it when you could tell something was wrong and he wouldn't spit it out. It clashed with your need to problem solve and get to the bottom of the issue at that exact moment.
He wasn't all bad, though. He was good with romantic gestures! Making lunch was his favorite if you recalled correctly. It must be an instinctual thing, wanting to provide for the one you love. That fact just made your heart pound more at the thought of it. He was also incredibly dazzling. During his volleyball era, you were obsessed with the way sweat rolled down his jawline, and how he'd look at you in the stands with a ferocity that made your knees completely weak. Sometimes, he'd come to your bedroom and completely envelop you with his mouth, lingering touches, and soft-spoken words. Other times, he pushed your face into the bedsheets and shuddered from how hard he came while you pathetically clenched around him. The mere thought of the various ways he could and would use you made your thighs clench as you looked up at him.
His adam's apple bobbed when he swallowed, and you admired the creamy skin tone on his neck that was begging to be littered with bruises. His eyes caught yours and the corner of his mouth twitched upwards. You'd been caught.
"Got something on your mind, doll?"
Your face grows hot as you scrunch your face up and turn away from the knowing gaze, "nothing you need to know."
"Yeah? Well, it's your movie night, and you're not even paying attention. Don't be mad when you don't like the movie I pick next time."
He adjusts his seated position to pull you into his lap, large hands glide gracefully to your waist, and fingertips dip just under your pajama shorts. He's close, too close. His eyes are hooded as he looks at you expectantly.
"I don't know what you want from me! Now you're distracting me from the movie."
"We can catch up on it later."
His lips capture yours in a kiss, and you're weakened. He always knows how to have you where he wanted you. Strawberry chapstick, he's conscious of having soft lips. Mainly because Atsumu made fun of him for having dry lips so he continually puts it on. You don't mind too much; it tastes good and feels nice on your skin.
He pulls away with a final tug to your bottom lip before giving you a small smile.
     "You look pretty tonight."
"Thank you."
Diving back to your neck this time, he latches onto the left side of your neck and peppers kisses on the area. He takes his time, methodical and careful. It's nice, but it has you rolling your hips against his to feel just a bit of friction. You manage to wiggle against the tent in his sweatpants only twice until he bites down and sucks a bruise into your neck.
"'Samu!"
"Stop trying to rush me, I'll give you all you want and more."
Soothing the ache on your neck with a gentle kiss, he lifts your sweatshirt up to your collarbone and grins. He looks so stupid and boyish, you can't even believe that you're already ruining your underwear when he tugs your left nipple into his mouth and sucks.
Keening, you immediately try to arch away, but he's faster and stronger. Peering up at you with those sinful eyes, he holds you in place. Your breath is starting to come out in short bursts, and you can feel him smiling as he kisses and marks up the valley between your breasts.
"Let me eat you out. Lie back."
"Huh?"
He flicks your nipple to hear the yelp come out of you. Immediately, you glare at him.
"That's not funny."
"You like it when I'm mean to you. I'll stop, but just because I wanna see you cry under me."
Molten lava swirls in your gut as you shift off of him and lie back on the expanse of the couch. Your underwear is sticky and now that you think about it, creaming on his tongue and fingers was not a bad way to get what you wanted. Though, you'd always prefer him fucking into your pussy with the appetite of a starved man, the fullness of his cock overtaking you and your brain turning to mush till all you could cry out was, "'Samu...Please, it's too much…!"
He pushes you up so your head is supported by the armrest while focusing on your lower half. His eyes greedily take in the pose you're in before untying your shorts and shimmying them down your ass, tapping your thigh to lift as needed.
"Oh? For me? I'll be sure to enjoy it."
You feel exposed when he pulls your panties taut against your lips, the visible dark patch giving him an ego boost.
"Just get to it!" you huff and look down at him, impatient as ever.
"Why are you so bratty?" you make eye contact with him and tremble under his dark gaze, "I told you I would take care of you, didn't I? You're not acting very gracious right now."
You open your mouth to protest but cross your arms and glare up at the ceiling. Maybe you were being a bit bratty today...It was fun, though. You liked the way he looked at you and treated you.
Your panties were taken off slowly and dangled on your foot; you'd begun to sweat by now. He was just staring at your cunt, not moving. You went to close your legs, but the sudden harsh suck against your clit made you jolt and grip his hair. Your legs naturally went to close, but he held them open effortlessly. He flattened his tongue and licked from your soaked opening to your clit again before pulling back.
     "Are you going to apologize?"
He let his fingers form a peace sign before gliding between your wet lips, purposefully avoiding your clit.
"...'M sorry, Osamu. I'll stop being a brat. I love you."
"I love you too, sweet girl."
His head that rested on your thigh gave butterfly kisses to your it while his thumb rubbed a hard circle to your clit. Then, he did it once more as he sucked a hickey to the inside of your thigh.
The pressure against your clit versus the softness of his kisses made your head spin. You rocked your hips up to catch more of his love and groaned at his ministrations. You looked down at him and bit your lip when you saw his eyes looking straight at you already. He smiled, and you watched in near admiration as he ground his tongue into your core and let a finger dip into your already soaked hole.
"I need...I want you to…"
     "I know."
Your voice, honeyed and needy, wailed as he gently crooked his finger up, lightly grazing the sensitive flesh while he worked the outside of your cunt in such a way that only your lover could. He murmured something incoherent against your flesh before letting two fingers delve inside you, a cry being torn from your throat as you shifted your hips to feel more of him inside you. You wanted him and only him.
You were absolutely soaking his fingers as he let them glide in and out of you, soft groans falling from his lips as he watched you take him in. Your hand twitched, and he used his free one to interlace your fingers;smoothly working you to the point of release. The tight coiling in your loins let you know that you were so close. Osamu watched your free hand rise to toy with the pebbled buds of your breasts.
You were panting now, your breath coming out fast as incoherent moans and cries spilled out from your lips.
"Osamu! Please let me cum, I wanna…"
He laughed lightly as the fog that clearly withheld all coherent sentences clouded over. He worked his fingers faster, the sloppy noise of him fucking your pussy being raunchier than any porn you two had ever watched.
Pulling his fingers out, you cried and squeezed his hand. Though, he was not one to disappoint as he buried his face into your cunt and wormed his tongue through your folds to circle your sopping wet entrance. His fingers gripped your thighs so hard you could nearly feel the bruises appearing as he tongue-fucked you to your release. The wet gummy intrusion sent you spiraling as his nose bumped against your clit. Of course, the coil snapped, and you soaked his tongue as you came.
"Hah...oh god! 'S-Samu!!"
He let his tongue lap up your essence while you spasmed around him. You rode his face to completion and sobbed from pleasure; he simply guided you till your thighs shut around his head, and you began to tilt your hips away from his mouth.
Of course, cumming around his cock would've been ideal, but this was the next best thing. Your thighs released his head, and when he came up for air, you throbbed at his glistening chin. He smirked at you and licked his lips before butterfly kissing your-in his words-pretty pretty pussy.
You lie on the couch boneless, convinced you'll have to get it steam cleaned as there was no way it wasn't wrecked with your cum.
"You shouldn't be allowed to be that good at that."
"What? Eating your pussy? Well, eating is my favorite thing to do."
"'Samu! Don't be gross!"
He sat back on his haunches and tilted his head.
"I was just trying to thank you for the meal."

not my room...?
event: miya twins week! tag: twin shenanigans
prompt: day 1 -- body swap summary:  words: 844 rating: t for swearing lmao
note: i’ll try to keep up with this week of brotherly love!! i havent written in ages so im going to dive into these with probably short stories but i hope everyone will like the platonic shenanigans i’ll write about (with probably a hint of sakuatsu/osasuna in there oop)
ao3 | twitter | mlist
Waking up, Osamu knew he didn’t feel the same. He rubbed his eyes, ruffled his hand through his hair.
Creaking sounds came from his bed as he sat up and got annoyed as his eyes struggled to adjusting to the natural light of the sun falling into his room. And for some reason… his head was hurting like never before.
When his headache was starting to die down, he moved over towards the door, but suddenly his face met the floor. He’d fallen down.
“Huh?”
He stood back up, blinking twice before his eye sight focused on a piece of clothing on the floor.
“When did that get here?”
His feet trembled. Those were not his clothes down there on the floor, but Atsumu’s… Not one, but two pieces of clothing…
Why the fuck were Atsumu’s clothes dispersed around his room?
With a frown plastered on his face, one look around his room (that was finally a little more clear) showed him he wasn’t even in his own room at all. Had he fallen asleep in Atsumu’s bed?
He scratched his head again. He couldn’t remember if he actually had, and his memories told him he had fallen asleep in his own bed. Then why…
Osamu shook his head. Pondering on about it wouldn’t get him anywhere, so he decided to not be bothered anymore and get his day started.
It was a Saturday and he finally had time to perfect his onigiri recipe. Ever since he decided on opening his own shop he had been wanting to perfect his own unique recipe. Store planning and all that could come another day.
With breakfast being served by their mom, he didn’t have to work hard just yet. He greeted her, she said good morning back, and he got to eating.
Nothing seemed wrong yet, until he heard something — or someone — stumble down the stairs.
“‘Tsumu?” he wondered softly, and focused his eyes in anticipation on the door. If he remembered correctly their dad was already off for work.
“Morning,” a grumbly voice sounded.
“Morning, ‘Tsu…mu? Huh?”
“Huh?!” Atsumu exclaimed.
In front of him wasn’t Atsumu, it was his own body?!
“Morning, Osamu,” their mother greeted, not noticing anything off.
The two of them shared a look, another one at their mom and one more back to their twin.
Atsumu… in Osamu's body slowly strolled over to him, sitting down next to him. “Why am I looking at myself?” he questioned. “You're ‘Samu, I assume?”
Osamu sighed, whispering, “Yer not alone in this one, ‘Tsumu. And yes it's me.”
“How the fuck did this happen?” hissed his twin in whisper, making sure their mom didn’t hear him.
“Do I look like I know?”
“Well, yer usually the more ‘rational’—” Atsumu put his fingers up in quotation marks, “—one ya kno’.”
Osamu rolled with his eyes. “Right..”
Suddenly, Atsumu leaned into him and whispered: “Do ya, ya kno’, think that it’s got something to do with the collision on the court yest’rday?”
Osamu looked at him and sighed. “Again, how should I know?”
“Ya… oh.”
“It looks like it happened over night so I don’t know what we drank or ate or if it really was the collision, but something made it happen. We should probably hope for the best and maybe it will be over if we wait one more night. Yer lucky it's a Saturday, I guess.”
Atsumu huffed. “I guess yer right.”
“For now, let’s pretend we’re each other. I’ll sneak my onigiri ingredients upstairs so I can at least still practice, but let's not go to the gym hall to practice volleyball.”
“Right…” Atsumu said, but Osamu had the idea it wasn’t really making sense to him.
“Ya do know why I’m asking you this right?”
“Yeah…”
“Do you really?”
“No…”
“Thought so. You and I are not going to do anything suspicious. Ya can’t go to the gym hall because me spiking would be straight up absurd, same goes for me in your body preparing the onigiri.” Atsumu nodded a couple times. Osamu couldn’t help but add, “You also can’t physically show yourself to Sakusa-san, you know that right?”
Like a scared cat, Atsumu jumped up. He coughed, as if having choked on his spit. “Ahem, right. Right.”
Osamu chuckled. “Good to see we’re on the same page.”
“The same goes for you and Suna,” Atsumu told him in between breaths.
“‘Tsumu!” Osamu sneered, pinching his arm.
Atsumu grinned. “Gotcha.”
Osamu could only huff. “Anyways, have fun pretending to be me for the entire day. Let’s hope it will be only one day.”
Rolling his eyes, Atsumu groaned as well. “Fuck this day already.”
“Good luck, brother. You’ll need it,” Osamu sneered, before walking off and making sure to take all ingredients with him. “I’ll be in my room, not yours.”
“Sure, sure, ya better,” Atsumu groaned, staring at his brother’s back, glaring holes into it.
This day was for sure far from over and Osamu knew he would be so glad to be back in his own body.

Also,I tend to keep my own emotions too myself since Im busy with others, and due to my friends normally trusting me so much, Im very protective of them. I am kinda insecure but I always just act confident, even when Im not. I am not afraid to speak my mind no matter what, and I love hearing others views.I think that's all. TY! Btw I love your writing, don't forget to take breaks when necessary tho! (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) Pt.2
Thank you so much sweetheart💞 I get the reminder to take break thing a lot tbh and I promise I will I just love writing sooo much I’m having so much fun!
I found your perfect bf!!!!!! And he is:
————————————————-
Tumblr media
Osamu Miya!
Osamu is perfect for you, he said it so himself after your first date
“I know it’s forward but I’m serious. I know you still don’t know me enough but I really do think I’m better for you than all the other guys, J. May I take you out again?”
He is also an ambivert like you, though 60% an introvert rather than a 50-50 split.
You two both appreciate humour but not too much of it so going to popular comedy shows will always be a good date night choice for the two of you
Another date night is attending art shows where Osamu would almost bid on your favourite pieces but you forced him not to because that money needed to go toward his restaurant for a down payment
And do not forget the boy can cook. He will own a whole restaurant, so your man is always cooking for you
He doesn’t want you to lift a finger in the kitchen. Atsumu is jealous of you because when he wants to try seconds or thirds of your boyfriends cooking when it’s just the two of them Osamu swats his brothers hand away and says “no, I’m saving some for Jenaan. gtfo”
Osamu is very chill as we all know, but he tends to get riled up especially when his brother pisses him off so you being the “therapist” in your group, you always know what to say to calm him down
He thinks the world of you for it
But also, Samu is basically your therapist too. He’s a great listener and when you come over he literally wants to hear everything that’s going on with you
He will sit there listening to all your problems and successes giving you his undivided attention
But he can read you like a book
“I know you’re holding back Jenaan. I know there’s more you’re hiding from me. Tell me what’s really bothering you, please baby? You’re not just ‘the helper’ friend anymore. You have me now.”
He says that while staring into your eyes deeply with his gorgeous grey eyes omlllll
Osamu is very protective of you. He makes you walk on the inside of the sidewalk, always gives you a drive anywhere and picks you up after and when you go to his house he is waiting for you at the end of the driveway or at the train station
It catches you off guard because you’re always the protector when it comes to your friends so he makes you feel relaxed like you don’t have to worry about anyone else anymore
He makes you feel so loved
Samu loves pulling pranks and you two constantly get into month-long (minor) prank wars
One time, you enlisted his best friend Aran and Atsumu to all pretend that you had accidentally lost the keys to his restaurant before his grand opening and the look on his face was priceless
You hugged and kissed him after you told him it was a joke and he forgave you.......after a while
You two are so cute together and Osamu is literally so lucky to have you
On the day of his second restaurant mortgage signing a few years into the future, he knew he owed it all to you and your support of him so he wanted to do something special for you
He decorated his restaurant’s rooftop so you two could have a romantic dinner there:
Tumblr media
He had an outdoor kitchen up there and so he pulled up a high chair by his stove and cooking area so he could make you several amazing dishes🥺:
Tumblr media
He tied a blindfold around your eyes so all you could do was smell his amazing dishes and then he fed you a bite from each dish so you could guess what it was
it was SO romantic
Every time you guessed a dish correctly he would kiss you and you would smile
When he was done letting you try all the dishes and before dinner, he told you to take off the blindfold
When you did you were shocked to see him bent down on one knee holding a beautiful ring out to you
You jumped out of the chair and he caught you just in time, spinning you around
The proposal, the food and the scenery was magical.... Just like your connection 🤍

You just didn't understand. How does that work? It doesn't make sense. You were currently on route to a shrine to pray for a better brain, as dumb as that sounds, due to your brain not being able to remember a damn thing when you need it most. You'd always forget the most important facts as soon as the exam or test would start, even after pulling all nighters to study for said test or exam, which would lead to getting horrible results. You just didn't understand, studying was supposed to help, how was it not? Getting off the train, you head to the local shrine, your head full of thoughts on how it just didn't make sense. Once there, you immediately start praying for a better brain, or at least a better memory, not noticing a pair of eyes watching you from a distance. Throwing in a few coins into the donation box, you turn around, preparing to head back to your dorm, but immediately stopping in your tracks and looking down in front of you. There, was a gray fox, staring intently at you. Now you were even more confused, the shrine was in the middle of the city, how was there a fox here? Shrugging, you move around the fox and begin to head back to your dorm, deciding to walk instead of taking the train, as the distance was just a 5 minute difference. While walking back, you noticed that people were staring at you, eyes full of confusion. At first you ignored them, but the curiosity of why they were staring was eating away at you. You started touching your hair, then looking down at your outfit, when you noticed the gray fox was following you right at your side. Immediately stopping, you question whether or not you should pick it up and take it to a shelter. The fox however, had other ideas. Taking the lanyard that was dangling loosely from your pocket, the fox began to run. "Hey!" You ran after it, following the fox back to……your dorm? The thieving fox slipped through the gate, now prancing towards the stairs. After sliding your key card and opening the gate, you ran after it, wondering what you had done to possibly aggravate the fox into stealing your lanyard. After following it all the way up the stairs, you now realize that the fox has stopped in front of your dorm room, patiently waiting with your lanyard in its mouth. "Could you not do that thanks…" Taking your lanyard from its mouth, you open the door and enter your dorm, turning around to say goodbye to the fox, when it is nowhere to be found. Looking around, you find it's situated itself on your couch, not giving a single care. "Are you serious…?" Deciding to leave it be, you put your things down and check the time. "Shit, it's late." Getting your pj's and doing your business in the bathroom, you head to sleep, completely forgetting about the fox in your residence.
┈ ✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁ ┈
"Fucking sun, I hate you…" Waking up by the sun somehow getting past your blinds and sniping your eye was absolutely horrible. Turning around…or at least trying to turn around it seems. Noticing there was a weight on your waist, you immediately tense. Looking down, you see arms around holding you, and start panicking. 'I don't remember bringing anyone yesterday…I don't have anyone to bring in the first place, so who the fuck-' You slowly begin to turn around again, as to not wake whoever this mystery person was. That's when you see him, an absolutely beautiful man is currently in your bed with you, his gray hair slightly covering his closed eyes. Your eyes are blown wide, staring at the sleeping stranger. Snapping back into reality, you panic and kick him off your bed, effectively waking him up. "Couldn't you have woken me up a nicer way?" 'Oh shit his voice is nice.' You shook your head, removing that thought from your mind. "Who the hell are you!? How did you end up in my room!?" The handsome stranger looks at you, his expression looking bored. It wasn't until you really looked at him that you realized…"Tell me later, for now put some clothes on!!"
┈ ✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁ ┈
"So your name is Osamu, and you're the fox that followed me here?" Glaring at this Osamu person, he nods. "That's what I said." After finally changing into some clothes that had managed to fit him (although it was a little tight), you began to interrogate him, although you were still confused. "Why'd you follow me?" Osamu turns away from you. "I was told to, it's my job right now to be with you." His job? A fox has a job? "You have a job?" The look on his face clearly says yes, but your brain is smooth, no thoughts. He seems to have read your mind, answering before you could ask. "You've been to the same shrine a few times already, praying for the same thing every time. I was sent to basically answer your prayers, and if you need proof, it's the fact that I am that fox that followed you and took your lanyard." Osamu turns back towards you, a small smirk on his lips. "Of course, you can choose not to believe me, but that's on you." You glared even harder, hating that you had to trust a complete stranger to help you with your smooth brain. Pouting, you nod at him, feeling a bit grateful that you at least had some kind of help for your current situation. His smirk turns into a small smile, and he pats your head. "There's a good doll." You blushed, though the gratefulness turned into irritation at the pet name. Standing from your bed, you head towards the kitchen to prepare breakfast, asking Osamu what he'd like. "Doesn't matter, I'm sure it'll be good." Turning towards the stove, you blush again. 'Smooth bastard.'
┈ ✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁ ┈
After breakfast, Osamu had decided to make a schedule for you, planning when would be the best times for study sessions. Of course, he had a few questions for you as to why you thought you couldn't remember anything correctly. "So you're telling me…you'd study for only 30 minutes?" You nodded at him, confused as to why he looked so appalled. "You think that's enough time?" His voice has lowered a few octaves, sounding angry and a bit disgusted. Once again, you nodded. "You idiot, that's not enough time. No wonder you can't remember shit." You winced, knowing his harsh words were true. "Well…I study at least twice a week though." Osamu lifts a brow, mocking you. "That doesn't make it better, it's still not enough." Once again, you winced at his words. Then again, Osamu never said it was going to be easy. “So, the answer is to just…study for a longer time and more days?”  “No you idiot, there’s a few other things you need.” And so, the many long study sessions with Osamu began. Of course, in between getting scolded and being slightly praised by him, he’d opted to tell you about himself a bit during breaks. He has a twin brother named Atsumu, he can change from fox to human or vice versa on command, he doesn’t have a favorite food, etc. You noticed once again how handsome he is, not realizing you were staring. Before you could tear your eyes away from his face, Osamu notices. “Take a picture, it lasts longer.”
┈ ✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁ ┈
One month later, you are currently waiting in your dorm room for your exam results with Osamu. As much as he helped you with studying and even becoming a good friend of yours, you didn’t want him to go, not yet, and probably not ever. You’d grown attached to the shapeshifting fox man, not wanting him to leave and go back to the shrine. Of course, you kept those thoughts to yourself. Hearing a ping from your laptop, you dash over to your desk, hoping it’s the results. Looking at the screen, you realize it’s just a discord friend. Sighing, you sit on the chair, Osamu behind you on the bed. “Listen, you did great doll, you said you remembered mostly everything.” Blushing at the pet name, you sigh once again. “I know, but I can’t help being nervous ‘Samu.” He smiles at you, though you can’t see it. “Listen, if you get a good score, how about going to get some street food?” Perking up at the sound of food, you turn towards him. “Really? But...what if I get bad results?” “I don’t see that happening, but if you do end up getting bad results, then I’ll, I don’t know, not take you out for food?” You roll your eyes, but are none the less amused. “Sounds good to me.” Hearing another ping from your laptop, you peek at it and see an email from your teacher about your exam results. Immediately reaching for it, you turn it away from Osamu, keeping the results hidden from him. After scanning the email, you close your laptop and put it on your desk. Osamu is patiently waiting for what you’re going to say. “I……PASSED!!!” As if your body moved on its own, you tackled Osamu on the bed, giggling in delight. Not sure what to do, Osamu holds you close as you slowly lose the giggling case you have. Looking up at him, you wear the brightest smile you could muster at the moment due to how happy you are. “Thanks ‘Samu, you really saved my ass.” He smiles back at you. “Of course doll, now let’s go get some food yeah?”
┈ ✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁✃✁ ┈
As much as you wanted to enjoy this night out with Osamu, you couldn’t. The thought of him leaving soon terrifies you. You tried to hide it as much as you could from him, but it seemed like he could see through you. While walking through the park after getting lots of food, he stops, and you turn around and look at him in curiosity. “What’s up?” He looks at you and chuckles. “I should be asking you that. You seem off, everything alright?” You tense up, not ready to face the fear of him leaving. “I’m fine.” He walks up to you, now directly in front of you, so you have to look up at him. “I know you’re not, but you don’t have to talk about it if you-” “I’m scared.” Osamu immediately stops talking. “I’m scared of you leaving. I grew attached to you, and I know I shouldn’t have, but you’re the first friend I’ve had in a while, and-” “I’m not leaving.” Your head shoots up to look at him, confusion evident on your face. He smiles. “I managed to convince boss to let me stay, took a lot but it worked.” Your eyes widen, and you burst into tears, hugging him. He holds you tight and pats your head to help calm you down.
“I’m not going anywhere doll.”

Metroid Prime 4: #1- The Lay of the Land
This is the beginning of documentation representing my journey through the Metroid franchise by Nintendo.  First, a warning: This next little bit is a flashback that leads up to now.
When Nintendo first mentioned that Metroid Prime 4 was in development I thought man, I really should beat the first Metroid Prime.  Back in the days before the Wii I worked my Metroid Prime all the way up to the Ridley battle and then set it down for a few years.  I got into different games like Soul Calibur II and Tales of Symphonia.  Soul Calibur was a great bro bonding game and I still think it is.  The next few years were spent focusing on college and then I bought a Wii.  I thought the Gamecube was obsolete at this point since my Wii could play Gamecube games, but man was I wrong.  Buying the Wii U proved this to me.  I wanted to play all discs on one system but I couldn’t do that.  I wanted (and still want) purity with my consoles.  This resulted in my going hard into my Gamecube again and getting the hardware peripherals that made it stand on par with the Wii, if not debatably better.  I bought the digital component cable for a wildly discounted price on eBay, and the Gameboy player and disc.  I got super lucky in finding the component cables at the price I found them at and I think the seller was in a pinch because it WAS around the holidays and I was just randomly checking the listings and was like “holy crap.”  No bidding, just buy it now.  Can’t say, won’t say.  It was also around this time that Nintendo announced that they were starting development for Metroid Prime all over from scratch.  Hearing this news felt like hearing a referee pistol.  If Nintendo was going to give me a fair warning that shit was getting real about Metroid Prime 4, then it’s up to me to get on the ball and meet Nintendo and Retro Studios in stride.  My instincts told me to go beat my original Metroid Prime file, finally.  My hardware was excellent and Nintendo sent the official signal; let’s go.
Turning on Metroid Prime for the first time in years with my original save file still intact, I expected to me extremely rusty at the controls and traversing the landscape.  Surprisingly it came back fairly quickly and before I knew it I was blasting different colored Metroids away no problem.  What I didn’t realize was exactly how close I was to actually beating the game.  The final boss was all I had to defeat.  Really?  17 years just for that?  If my memory serves me correctly, I simply just didn’t want the game to end.  I do that.  Leave books unfinished, leave movies before the end, compose music and leave the ending open, and I don’t know why.  I want time to soak into the experience and really savor it.  Perhaps I’m not so much a voracious consumer of entertainment but rather an appreciative connoisseur.  Back in 2004, I remember being at a drummer’s house that I was in drum corps with, and he was a stupid competitive type that turned everything into a pissing contest.  Once he found out that I had gotten all the way up to Ridley or something he set out to beat that game asap.  It was when he was at the final boss that I got my first glimpse of the future 15 years later.  Damn.
Anyway, I beat Prime but I still have this amazing fully loaded Gamecube that has the OEM digital component cable, and Gameboy Advance player.  My next move was obvious.  I wasn’t done with the original Metroid Prime yet, not by a long shot!  If you’re a fan of Metroid, you love finding secrets and collecting all de tings.  To get the full original Metroid Prime experience, I had to play and beat Metroid Fusion for the Gameboy Advance.  I eBay-ed it up asap.  It’s kinda funny- Fusion showed up in the mail right on the day or day after I beat Prime.  Pretty cool.
Getting into Metroid Fusion was something I wasn’t ready for but always wanted.  It was Super Metroid that turned me into a fan.  The music, the beautiful colors, the crunchy explosions, and the search really got me looking in every nook and cranny in each level.  I wanted more and Fusion was it but I didn’t have a Gameboy Advance and wasn’t going to shell out even more money if I wasn’t going hard into games back then.  At that time I was so into music and rocking harder than life could offer that I just could not afford to allocate money toward a handheld that still was not backlit.  Fuck that.  When I saw pictures of Fusion all I could think was that it was Super Metroid 2.  After playing it, man, was I right about that.
Metroid Fusion is so amazing.  I love 2D Metroid-style games.  Hell, I spent a large part of 2018 playing through the indie game A Robot Named Fight on Steam and currently have a thoroughly played but not beaten Axiom Verge save file on my Wii U.  Again, Nintendo gave the signal and I had to run with it so here we are.  What I love about Fusion is quite a few things.  I love the graphics.  The colors are so vibrant and all the sprites look lively.  Even though the Gameboy Advance’s resolution is apparent on a 480p screen, it still plays amazingly.  The controls are tight and intuitive.  I did get lost a lot and backtracked often to find that random wall that needed to be blown through to progress to the next area.  I love how the security levels kept me from progressing just enough to experience the game unfold before me.  Oh man, I loved hiding from SA-X.  What a cool addition.  I swore a lot at the spider boss because it took me the most tries to defeat.  It was somewhere around that point where I thought that this game wasn’t for amateur platform players.  You really had to have a handle on things to get any further.  The moment Fusion Stole my heart was in chapter 11, at Plant Core X.
In Metroid Other M, there were oftentimes feelings of isolation and maybe even mild claustrophobia.  The same could even go for the final boss in Metroid Prime.  There’s something really gross-but-in-a-cool-way about destroying a slimy bug hive in a dark triple sub basement, especially if you have to spelunking your way to perform the extermination.  In Fusion, it’s sooo different, but the feeling is eerily similar in a way that I absolutely love.  When I first experience Plant Core X, I didn’t think I would be emotionally attached to my character.  I didn’t think I was Samus.  But then I kept getting dragged into the poisonous flower swamp that released deadly spores into the air in a wide horizontal sine wave pattern.  The music was minimal and just a little quieter than the rest of the game.  I kept trying to jump out of the swamp but I couldn’t get out.  It frustrated me because it interrupted my flow.  I felt helpless and that my situation was serious, even over my head.  I was suffocating.  I felt connected to Samus and like I had entered an extremely deadly area.  If Samus is an exterminator, this place was ground zero for the cause of everything in Fusion.  Don’t get me wrong- all the other bosses are vital to making up the game but at Plant Core X, Samus gets into deep shit.  Imagine that you’re stuck in a poisonous swamp or quicksand and you keep trying to jump out but the sludge keeps pulling you back in.  Now imagine all that while the air around you is raining poisonous dandelion seeds.  There’s no way you can’t get hit or sucked into the swamp.  What an amazing experience.  I couldn’t believe what I was feeling.  Here’s a YouTube link to this experience but it’s not me playing.  Whoever played in this video did way better than me but I think you can get an idea of what I’m talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=347poZRrbrQ
Just last week I beat Fusion but didn’t do so well in collecting all the little things in the game. The final boss was cool and well drawn for the time period and hardware imho.  My main goal was to unlock the original NES Metroid in my copy of Metroid Prime on the Gamecube.  Since I have a Gameboy Advance that my dad found on a school bus and no kids claimed, I used it to link up to my cube with the Fusion cart and unlocked Metroid.
That brings us to the current moment.  Today I figured out how to save my original Metroid game on the Gamecube.  This was a little confusing because the Gamecube controller doesn’t have a select button like the original NES.  Instead it’s the Z button.  To save while you’re playing the game, you need a second controller, just like in the original Legend of Zelda, and while paused push UP and A to initiate the save screen without dying.
I can’t wait to get into it.  When the original Metroid screen comes up on my HDTV in a somewhat aliased 480p widescreen picture, I am immediately in a time warp.  Since I never played the original Metroid as a kid, my only memories of that game are from looking at strategy guides that didn’t show you everything.  I didn’t think much of it then because Mario was it.  I used to watch the title screen to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link over and over again as a kid and look into the stars on the screen and just wonder endlessly about anything. It cast a spell over me or something; I was captivated.  With Metroid, the original, it is now happening again. The game is brand new to me and I couldn’t give a care to anything modern as far as gaming and technology if I tried.  The stars in the background, the blinking letters of METROID, the fairly quick opening sequence loop-  all of this shows me that I’ve never grown up from being a kid after all.  I’m still the same after all these years.  The world can only help me build character and deep down I’m just the same kid that gets filled with endless wonder when 8 bit Nintendo does it’s thing.  Amazing.
For a current side note, I’d like to add that in Fusion, you can hear sound effects that are similar to those in the Virtual Boy’s Galactic Pinball.  Although the composer for Fusion was not the same as Galactic Pinball, Galactic Pinball’s composer was the same for Super Metroid and Mike Tyson’s Punch Out: Kenji Yamamoto.  You can hear similarities everywhere like Yamamoto was consulted often.  And if you’re not aware, Galactic Pinball does have a miniature Metroid space shooter game as a bonus easter egg on one of the tables. I like to think that only the hardcore Nintendo fans know this.
Anyway.  I’ll report back as soon as more progress is made with the original Metroid.  In the meantime, here is my most recent Twitter post with a pic documenting where things are at.
