Aaand suddenly I am VERY invested in these two’s canon (and fanfiction) relationship. The personalities, they clash but they also… don’t… wait… 🫥 DID NAKABA GIVE THESE TWO - HOLY COW- guys guys their backstories… they’re literately NARRATIVE PARALLELS. Both kind souls invested in the peace and wellbeing of their realms, manipulated by their diety’s propaganda channeled through a loved one they treasured and looked up to (actively in the case of ludociel. I refuse to believe that meliodas did not try his best in his own traumatized way to encourage his brother to hold fast to his own beliefs and not blindly adopt the demon king’s) and then used as weapons of war. These two should go to therapy together. Like a separate group therapy session from the one they and meliodas should have to work through the whole estarossa (are we still brothers?? Are we even friends?) thing.

Do those of you who headcannon them as becoming close again as brothers think about that specifically? I definitely do now…

And to those of you who created the crack ship Maeldris: … uh… guyssss I think you might have actual canonical grounds for that to work…

a goddess who hates violence and wishes their realm could be at peace. A demon who sees the horrors of violence and endless, needless bloodshed and what it is doing to their people, to their culture and citizens. Both becoming major players in that violence out of a sense of duty, feeling an intense pressure from not only their clan but out of their own love for a close (not close. But they wish they were close. Goddamn they wish) family member. Bonding with an enemy who understands them on a level no one else can (or tries. Or knows how to) ensues.
