Indulging myself today by thinking about the fact that Solas was going to admit his identity and involvement with Corypheus and the orb, but chickened out at the last minute and told a romanced Lavellan about the vallaslin instead, and so I am considering the world where he does admit All Of That to Ena and sets aside his plan to tear down the Veil. And this is mostly a setup for jokes so once they work through All Of That and Corypheus is defeated and the worst of the chaotic aftermath is dealt with, at some point Ena is going to want to take a brief trip to Wycome and check in with her clan in person. And also introduce Solas to them.
Ena has a multi-step plan for slowly easing everyone into the idea of “everything we know is wrong” where she’s worked out what she first wants to tell the clan about the Temple of Mythal and the ancient elves there, and then once they’ve digested that she’s figured her next rounds of information to feed them, so that eventually she can build the way up to dropping “the gods sucked and Fen’Harel was trying his best” on their heads. Because she knows she can’t lead with that.
“And what if they do not believe you, no matter how slowly you introduce them to the truth?” Solas asks her.
Ena shrugs. “I think they will. They would have no reason to deny what I saw and heard from Abelas at the Temple, and even that will be enough to raise many questions that we can’t answer ourselves. And that’s where we’ll start to lead into your answers. If you haven’t already started arguing with my mother by then. She likes to argue with the other Keepers every Arlathvhen.”
So they go visit Clan Lavellan and it takes about half an hour for Keeper Deshanna to start arguing with Solas and Ena catches up with the rest of the clan and meets some of the elves from Wycome’s alienage while her mom and her boyfriend argue for the next four hours. Esti listens for a while to what Solas is saying and then she goes to Ena like “what kind of weird cult did you find this guy in?”
“It was called the Inquisition,” Ena says. “I thought you would have heard of it.”
“You know that’s not what I’m talking about,” Esti says.
“I know,” Ena says.
#the Two Heralds AU version of this is even more of a mess#Esti shows up like ‘I’d like to introduce everyone to my fellow Inquisitor and the other half of my soul. this is Brennan. a human noble#‘and this is his boyfriend and my friend Dorian. who is a noble mage from Tevinter’#and while everyone is agog about this Ena is smuggling the fucking Dread Wolf into camp#ena lavellan

Lullabies at Night
Fandom: Dragon Age Relationships: M!Lavellan/Dorian Pavus Rating: General Audiences Tags: Hurt/Comfort
Read on AO3
Skyhold was hardly ever quiet, even during the coldest hours of the night and, Maker, it was cold. Dorian woke up with the sound of wind escaping through the door and a chilly shiver running down on his spine. He looked for the blankets, patting the bed around him, but suddenly realized there was more missing. Sitting on the bed in a startle, he found himself alone in the Inquisitor's bed. Took a few seconds of drunken thought, but he quickly stepped out of the bed to change into proper clothing and leave the room, avoiding the looks of occasional guardsmen who were chatting in low voices. There were few torches lit at that time, so Dorian could easily sneak past them while looking around the castle—not that he needed to, but wished to avoid gossips later. Anything related to his relationship with the Inquisitor seemed to be specially tasteful for the tongues of nobles in Skyhold.
He searched everywhere and begun to really worry for his lover. Would he leave the castle all by himself? Or was he back to his bedroom? Where else could he be hiding? The mage looked around once more, standing in the middle of the central courtyard. His gaze fell on the main gate, which led to the longest bridge he'd ever seen in any old castles, and noticed that one of the escape doors was slightly open. Lifting one eyebrow, he followed that lead, taking the road on the bridge to reach the lonely tower that watched over for the rest of the castle, despite not being used by the Inquisition's forces at the moment. As he approached, he thought he heard a soft lullaby playing in distance and every new step confirmed there was indeed music playing on top of the tower. The door was open and the stone staircase was large enough for it not to be claustrophobic, so Dorian got up the tower fast and in silence. On the last level, where the stairs met the battlement's floor, he peaked through, wishing to have a look on what was happening.
His Elven lover was sitting on one of the large crenels between the even larger merlons, hugging his knees with his arms while his hands held an ocarina. He was playing the most lonely lullaby, soft and slow, echoing into the night. His golden curls were loose and seemed like dancing with the cold breeze, following the movements of the green cloak he had wrapped around his shoulders. Dorian had never noticed that cloak, but it looked old and overused, showing up a few tears here and there, but nothing that could not be fixed by skilled hands. The full moon was shining over his pale skin and hair, like his whole body was made of polished marble. It was a delightful sight.
The inquisitor did not seem to notice as the man stood a few centimeters behind him, enjoying the music. Dorian thought it felt like a song a mother would sing to her children after telling them that their father could not come back home and was watching them from the stars. His heart skipped a beat and he let the thought perish.
"I did not know you could play" he said finally in a tender voice. Elrian jumped harshly on a startle, almost letting his ocarina fall off the battlement, but the mage behind him was quick to hold it in the air, chuckling softly. "I am sorry, Amatus. I did not mean to scare you"
"Dorian!" he cried in some sort of relief "Don't creep behind me like this, I could have fallen down"
"A risk that could easily be avoided if you have stayed in bed with me" Dorian approached, leaning down to rest the weight of his body on his arms against the parapet where his lover was seated "What troubles you?" his voice was soft but still packed with concern.
The inquisitor bit his lip, looking away, "I just couldn't sleep. Had a dream and woke up"
"A nightmare? Do you wish to talk about it?"
"Not a nightmare. It was a good dream." he sighed, then continued in a low voice, trying to not sound too sad "I was back at my clan. It was summer and we were celebrating someone's birthday, dancing and feasting. My father was showing tricks to the little children, they loved his magic. And my mother was calling me and trying to put flowers on my hair." he smiled and his eyes glittered as tears came to life.
"I am sorry, Amatus" Dorian reached for the other's hand, but Elrian was quick to turn his palm up to show the glowing anchor underneath his skin.
"I hate this thing." he confessed, "And yet I'm grateful I can do some good to the world because of it. I just wish I could do more." he closed his hand on a tight fist "I wish I could have saved them"
Dorian slid his hand over the elf's wrist and made his way to hold his hand, opening his fist softly to tangle their fingers together, "Your family would be very proud of you, Elrian. Do not think otherwise. Their love did not fade away"
"I… know" he wrapped the cloak more around his body, as if trying to shrink his own size "I just miss them so much"
The Tevinter said nothing, for there was nothing else to be said. He passed his right arm around Elrian's body and held his left hand with his own, spooning him and resting his head on his lover's shoulder, kissing it softly. They stood there for a couple minutes before Dorian begun to shake a bit, still not used to the Ferelden cold.
"Shit, I'm sorry, Vhenan. Get in here" Elrian chuckled, opening the cloak and putting over Dorian's shoulders as well.
"Thank you for acknowledging my presence here" he provoked, joking, and hug the elf underneath their improvised blanket, still standing up on the battlement behind. "I've never seen you wear this one. Where did you get it?"
Elrian smiled, caressing the green fabric along the lines of golden embroidery that formed the pattern of vines. "I was wearing it at the Conclave. My mother gave it to me when I got my vallaslin and it was my only fancy piece back home. It survived that night's events pretty well, I think"
"It is beautiful." Dorian was also appreciating the details "I take the ocarina was also with you that day?"
"It was. It was my father's. Have I ever told you about them?"
"I don't think so." he tightened the embrace "but I would love to hear"
Elrian smiled tenderly. "My mother was a hunter. She taught me how to fight and survive in the woods if I ever needed to. And my father was the Halla Keeper, First to our clan. I was the Second and therefore had to learn both from him and from our Keeper. He told me how to take care of the Hallas and how they seemed to enjoy the sound of the ocarina, so if one of them got lost I could play and let it come back on its own. I enjoyed it just as much. Once all my friends made fun of me because I spent a whole afternoon playing and by night there were dozens of Hallas around me, sleeping" he laughed to himself "They told me I was so boring that not even the animals could stay awake"
"Oh, how dare them?" Dorian laughed.
"When I turned 16, I was convinced my vallaslin would be Ghilan'nain's, the mother of Hallas" he continued "But it was Mythal's, the great protector. At the time I was reluctant and not sure if I was worth it. From that day on, my free time was consumed by extensive lectures from both my father and the Keeper, since I was bound to assume the clan's guidance someday. I think I was failing, to be honest"
"Why do you think that?"
"I was too soft and insecure. Still am, I guess. My father sent me to the Conclave so I could put all my training to test and deal with it all by myself. And when I was made Inquisitor, he sent me a letter saying he always knew I had the soul of a Keeper and was sure I could assume the responsibility. My mother also wrote this letter and said they were very proud. She also told me to be respectful but not bow my head"
"Excellent advise. In my opinion, you are following it just right." Dorian placed a few more kisses on the Inquisitor's shoulder "Sounds like they were great people, I'd loved to have met them"
"My mother would have loved you. She loved all my friends and boyfriends, as long as they took good care of me"
"And do I?" he mumbled, caressing Elrian with his lips.
"More than you can imagine" the answer came in a low and loving voice, the type that usually accompanied blushing. Dorian didn't need to look at his face to know he had colour on his cheeks.
"What about your father? Would he also have approved us?"
"You're from Tevinter, Vhenan" he chuckled as it was an obvious counterpoint.
"Oh, right" he laughed.
"But eventually he would, yes" Elrian leaned down to steal a kiss from his lover's lips "You'd always be welcome"
"That's good to know, Amatus. I mean it" he whispered against his lips "Not only were you destined to make yourself great, but you were also raised as such" he moved away so their eyes could meet "Do not doubt yourself. Your roots are stronger than you think and I trust my life to your leadership and reason. You may think you're too soft, but a passionate heart is greater than the strongest army"
"Thank you, Vhenan" the elven mage whispered back, smiling, but letting a rogue tear run down his cheek.
"Now, now, don't do that. You know I'm awful with feelings" he wiped the tear out, taking the chance to also caress Elrian's face and hair "Say, why don't we go back to your room and you play to me that boring song that makes cattle sleep? We can put it to test"
Laughing, Elrian got down of the crenel "You're a jerk"
"So I'm told. Also spectacularly handsome"
Both of the men walked side by side, holding hands in the most soft manner, whispering jokes for one another. Elrian also took his cloak off to cover his lover's shoulders and shield him from the cold, which was accepted without ceremony. Back at the Inquisitor's room, Elrian discovered that stroking Dorian's hair was just as effective to put the man to sleep as that lullaby was for the Hallas.

🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓 Christian, Helena, Gina, Georgie, and Aaliyah!!!
THANK U!!!! sorry this is so late :(
CHRISTIAN
IDK if I ever said this but his whole mansion in Bel Air is modeled after the interior in Versailles - still modern but with STRONG Baroque vibes
His favorite european city - besides Versailles of course - is Venice 😳 he lived there for some time in the 18th century and loved it there... he misses it a lot
He has a ghoul.... his name is Claude, the only living descendant of his favorite sister :(( Christian tracked him down in the early 1900s in Paris and eventually offered him to embrace him, but Claude was like nah... I wanna see the sunlight dude. They’re still living together in Bel Air since they’re the only family they have left :0
Hangs out in LA nightclubs a lot - not the goth ones we see in the game.. the sexy ones where rich people hang out, he mostly feeds from them there.. slurp slurp!
Can speak english, french, italian, german and a few words in latin.. op king. being that old gives you time to learn languages ig
Went into an overdramatic state of fake depression after Helena dumped him.. didn’t leave his mansion at all, just hung around in his room, not eating (... drinking blood..), moping and talking about killing himself bc Toreadors are fucked up. Claude is like.. get up dude -_-
HELENA
I also dont know if I ever said this but even though shes not the fledgling.. Heather is still her ghoul (she was in the santa monica clinic to get somehting done for la croy and yeah).. she regrets it because Heather is soooo annoying and does all of this shit for her like calling her her master and all that and it’s just so uncomfortable. Especially when she offers her her student loans. Helena is like “oh my god I can’t take this what the fuck?????????? this is yours. okay you know what.. if you insist.. i will take it 😏”
She doesn’t have the heart to kick her out though.. mostly because Helena misses having a roommate :c
The only people who were genuinely sad about her death are her mom and sister jhdsjhds.. the fake rich friends she had before her embrace didn’t really give a fuck about her until they realized they could get attention through it & started posting sob stories on myspace. Helena is mad about it.. those hoes treated her like a third wheel when she was alive 😤
she probably ends up “accidentally” telling her family she’s alive..
what annoys her the most about her death isn’t even the fact that she was killed.. it’s the fact that she didn’t die in a beautiful way, she was just some random nobody with no friends or fame who may have been killed by her boyfriend (except that the official story is that she never arrived at his house). Christian couldn’t have waited until she was an established actress so it could have been more poetic, nah he had to embrace her when nobody cared :((
She liked Christian’s Bel Air mansion but honestly?? her weird old apartment was still better - it wasn’t big and the furniture was a mess but it was still her home
GINA
Grew up with a single mother because her father died early in an accident... he was a construction worker or something :c her mom worked as a maid for a rich family until she got fired for stealing from them jdfkjsd
gets to rapture by assuming some rich girl’s identity. idk how she does that but.. somehow she does. Of course nobody knows about that, it’s her big secret 🤫 to the other rapture residents she’s just a rich heiress who acts a little different from New York’s high society because she lived abroad
she dislikes Rapture’s upper class for living so large when the poor have nothing just like she had nothing growing up.. doesn’t do much about it though.. Gina: *donates like a tiny amount of her wealth to an orphanage* wow helping people feels so good :)
Doesn’t have any real friends in rapture either except maybe Diane.. ironically because she thinks everyone else is fake 🙄
She didn’t like F*ntaine AT ALL because she thought he looked creepy but also because the Bronx accent scared her.. she’s really paranoid that he might have run into her while she was still living there and remembers her even though that’s soooo unlikely 😒 every time they’re in the same elevator together she turns away and pretends to look for something in her handbag
The civil war is just the worst for her bc she doesn’t want to align with the rebels they’re all freaks but there’s also no way in hell she’ll be on Andy Ryan’s side.. she’s just like *reluctantly joins rebels because she thinks its the winning team and because she thinks A**** is hot and doesn’t realize its the same guy she hid from at parties* *doesn’t do shit*
GEORGIE
has a weird relationship with her mom... she died when she was very very young and Georgie really doesn’t remember much about her - almost everything she knows is from her father reminiscing about how beautiful and loving she was but that’s not.. true.. its just how he remembers her, in reality she was a very cold & narcissistic person. she’ll never know the truth though :/
does NOT care about any politician or noble whatsoever but had a soft spot for Jessamine mostly because she made a friendly impression on her (from what she’s seen on posters and all that stuff).. Georgie liked to imagine she wanted to make things better for people like her. (the heart when pointed at Georgie: this bitch digs through garbage cans. freak.)
has little pots with flowers all over her little clinic in the distillery district, it adds a little life to her weird looking little home and makes it look even more goth-ish because they’re all dried out :/
is one of those people who are pretentious about drinking tea
has a weird rivalry with dr Galvani that he doesn’t know about 😒 her clinic is near his home and she's mad jealous of him, this dude has money to fund his research and expensive tools and what does he do with it?? dissect fucking rats? (she heard about it from Granny Rags and yeah she believes everything she says).. she’s out there calling him an idiot, meanwhile Galvani doesn’t even know she even exists
used to be a pickpocket as a kid.. mostly when her dad didn’t make enough money, she still got into trouble for it most of the time though and stopped when she got older -_- its ok though because she got to steal family heirlooms at the Boyle mansion during their masquerades because one of the sisters called her ugly
AALIYAH
unlike the game wants you to believe she’s from Nevarra City rather than Ostwick 😳 the youngest of 5 siblings and the only mage in the family - since Nevarra is pretty chill about magic and has no circles, she grew up without the whole oppression thing that’s going on in the rest of thedas, thus all this templar shit is nonsense to her. We’re fine back home, thank you! Your mages are just fucked up because you put them in prisons!
She was supposed to become a Mortalitasi and have a pretty powerful position in the Nevarran court until idk something political that involved the chantry in one way or another happened and she got shipped off to ferelden’s circle (post blight duh). She managed to escape after a few weeks in its weakened state and joined the mage underground - she never really was a circle mage like in the game 🙄
She and a group of other mages she was friends with were supposed to go to the conclave together to.. vote for mage rights but you know what happened! Also you know this excerpt from a very angry person’s journal you can find in the fade? that was from her best friend who died in the explosion :c She still misses her a lot
The only people she’s close to within the inquisition are Sera, Varric and Dorian.. the rest are either more acquaintances or outright hate her (especially Vivienne.. i love her but BOY did they not get along).. She likes the advisors a little more, Josie is cool they’re not like bffs or anything but they like each other.. Leliana and her got along soooo well I think they were really good friends. Cullen was.. unfortunately her boyfriend but they also hated each other in the beginning. more on that later
The worst thing for her was the attack on Haven it fucked her up sooooo bad :c All those innocent people she wanted to protect dying, she tried her best to save them but it was still too late for some of them despite her best efforts.. it just really messes with her and she hates thinking about it.. she actually tried to run off on one occasion after that 😳
Feels sooo weird about the fact that she’s nevarran because on one hand that’s her home and she’s proud of it!!! on the other hand everyone acts like she’s the biggest freak bc they think she was in a death cult or something and she HATES it :((
#thank u! sorry this is so late#ngl i miss being obnoxious about my ocs but also... not... most of it just happens on twitter and discord at this point#queennymeria

i’m asking about your dragon age characters
molly i would KILL for u im ur personal hitman now
anyway i said my city now because the entire bioware writing team sucks shit xoxo and i’m so much smarter than all of them but also fully incapable of having a normal amount of ocs for anything (see: the time i made 20 rwby ocs in less than two weeks) so i have. five worldstates here r some assorted thoughts
uhhh so the worldstates r as follows
eira mahariel (two-handed berserk/champ spec), rhett hawke (two-handed berserk spec), alas lavellan (mage knight enchanter spec), romanced alistair/fenris/dorian respectively
shiv tabris (dual wield duelist/assassin spec), radella “rads” hawke (mage spirit healer spec), kat adaar (two-handed reaver spec), romanced morrigan/isabela/cassandra respectively because im a pc gamer and i think i should be able to date whatever video game woman i like because im infinitely better than cishet men
this world state said yeah i respect mens rights. mens rights to shut the fuck up
twins bronson (sword/shield reaver spec) & bryant cousland (archer ranger spec), carmine hawke (archer assassin spec), syracuse trevelyan (dual wield tempest spec), romanced zevran/anora/josephine/bull. if ur wondering how that works my city now and the warden, hawke and the inquisitor should all meet and so they do because i Said So
riva amell (mage arcane warrior/battlemage spec), graham “gray” hawke (mage force spec), hellathen “hela” lavellan (archer assassin spec); romanced cullen/anders and later blackwall because hawke only likes men who will break his heart. hela doesn’t have a romance because she’s literally 20. who let her lead the inquisition (me it was me). also it should be noted the version of cullen i have in my head only vaguely resembles actual cullen because i write better than dragon age writers ever could and i gave him an Actual Cohesive Narrative and he gets bullied relentlessly for being scrawnier than his mage boyfriend
malien “mal” surana (mage spirit healer/keeper spec), jules hawke (sword/shield reaver spec), ash adaar (mage rift spec), romanced leliana/merrill/krem because i should have been able to kiss krem and its a Crime that i am not allowed to
knight enchanter is a Very op specialization and by Very op i mean it makes a mage with their built-in low constitution stats able to solo the biggest baddest dragon in the game on nightmare mode in under five minutes so like. alas lavellan fist fights dragons for fun send tweet
i think lavellans should be able to hit ppl with bricks for all the shit they endure. thus solas gets pranked by mahariel and alas by which i mean they just tip buckets of water onto him from the rookery
kat might be my only competent inquisitor but she did also try to knock out the right hand of the divine and attempt to gap even tho there’s fucky magic burning up her hand so does she have a brain cell? you decide
also its fantasy land and i do what i want so kat has blue/gold sectoral heterochromia
gray “mage rights” hawke is best friends with fenris which surprises literally everyone. their friendship started because they got into a fist fight and then they were like okay i respect u now. hawke is like hey fenris give me ur sword i have a fun trick to show u [uses his sword as a foci to zap carver in the ass with lightning]
i am Always thinking abt like how cullen could have been one man anti-chantry propaganda machine if he hadn’t so blatantly been shoehorned into every game past origins so anyway bioware forgot about a wholeass moon i can write what i like. [holds up cullen by the scruff of his stupid armor] not only are you bisexual you are also a bottom
i also Hate the whole uwu mage haters get fixed by romancing a mage
unlocked secret dialogue option where my inquisitors verbally cuss out dorian’s dad instead of whatever sympathetic narrative the writers were going for cuz its bullshit.
riva is a showoff and a Menace about being as good as he is because he unabashedly loves being a mage and hes like oooh look at me im sexy i dont need to use my hands to cast magic because i’m just that good ;)) and you know what. hes right.
gray, on the other hand, does Not want to be mage. he wants to be a druffalo farmer and retire in the hinterlands and be left the fuck alone. unfortunately he is gay and has one brain cell and terrible, terrible taste in men. ribbed relentlessly for this by riva (altho does he have room to talk hes been hung up on cullen since he was like 13)
shiv is trans n kieran is the result of doing the dark ritual with her wife and he looks a Lot like shiv (dark skin pointed ears, shock-white hair) and morrigan always just Assumed she dyed it or did something magic with it so seeing their kid come out like that was a WEIRD time for her
leliana almost Murdered by cassandra in worldstate 5 because the warden is Actually There The Whole Time, but its been 10 years, mal’s cut off all her hair and gotten full facial tattoos and she’s like “no one will know its me its fine” and she’s right. she gets away with it. only cullen like, Knows, because he knew her before the blight but he doesnt have a death wish n he like. will Not piss her off
shes dalish by birth n she was stolen from her clan by templars and thus is vehemently anti-circle and anti-chantry in general
uhhh the vallaslin (elf face tattoos) of my 4 dalish characters are:
eira = ghilan’nain (chose em cuz shes rlly interested in the navigation aspect of the goddess)
alas = falon’din (god of the dead n he picked them because he’s Also the god of fortune and alas is like tee hee fun but also he can and will kill u if u fuck with him so yk its fitting)
hela = june (god of the craft bc she likes to Make things but june is also the god who taught the elves 2 hunt and hela is. a hunter.)
mal = elgar’nan (allfather/god of vengeance bc. she is Vengeful. she is Angry. but yk fucking with shem politics and fucking their divine is like. mal may have little a retribution. as a treat.) yes she has the full half-face solid colour tattoo she does NOT fuck around.
bronson and bryant r not genetically identical but they Look similar enough 2 anyone who doesn’t know them well enough 2 play spot the distance. anora and bronson think this is a super fun game to play, especially when nobles realize they’ve swapped out the king but they’re too nervous to say anything
eira mahariel has two hands. one is for holding hands with alistair and the other is for throttling elven gods, apparently. she’s killed one before so solas she’s coming for your bitch ass next. watch urself.
speaking of eira and alistair are married thru dalish tradition and humans don’t recognize it n alistair loves 2 re-propose to her with random things. he’ll just pick up like. a bit of cheese and be like “marry me ;)” and she’s like GASP but whatever will the chantry say!!!! all of their friends r sick of them
“vhenan if you love me bring me a sword” “you think i could do better than a sword made out of space rock?” “:)”
eira is my youngest hero at 18 at the start of her game and kat is my oldest at 32 at the start of her game.
none of my hawkes are under six foot. rhett is the tallest (6′8″) and rads is the shortest (6′2″).
syracuse trevelyan would have been the Perfect inquisitor if he were not a pretty boy himbo and a gay bastard who does Most Things just to spite his parents.
[corypheus pointing at syracuse’s visage in his crystal orb thingo] i want that twink obliterated
i love the companions from older games return thing i truly do so i make it a point for Every companion to return in inquisition so the gang rlly is all here because i am a Slutte for found family
i lie in my keep worldstates because i dont want to choose between hawke and alistair during here lies the abyss but i never make him king and every time i play inquisition and cole has the wicked grace line it makes me Scream. alistair baby im so sorry i did this to you but i didnt actually do this to you
yes this is my everyone lives au but like. all the time. i have never left hawke in the fade and i do not intend to.
fuck whatever nonsense about wardens not being able 2 have kids. by sheer divine power (me) anora and bryant have three daughters; eleanor, sabina & cecelia n both bronson and zevran make Excellent uncles because i think anora deserves good things because i’m tired of bioware being like women bad, actually,
so like most of the time i have the warden & hawke turning up after the move to skyhold n then staying on, with the exception of bryant, carmine & mal. mal is as mentioned previously just There the whole time with her girlfriend. bryant steps in as king of ferelden w/ interests in closing the big hole in the sky spewing demons in2 his kingdom yk. carmine shows up because she wants to help & she wants protection for bethany but she outright says she’d rather die than be inquisitor so cassandra is shit out of luck.
“CHANGE HER MIND VARRIC” “she once doubled down on insisting amaranth was a shade of blue because she didn’t want to admit to being wrong. no one’s changing her mind seeker”
alas is the middle child of eight and is thus very good with children and also bossing around people older than him. 2 of his older siblings come to the inquisition when stuff in wycome has been settled
i left ash with the basic canon background with Some variation (he grew up under the qun and left of his own free will when his magic was discovered n he realized he couldn’t take living as a saarebas
kat on the other hand was raised tal-vashoth and has bounced around basically all over thedas and leads her own merc company when the conclave blows up. she also speaks multiple languages. is there a language she doesn’t speak? probably not
just realized how long this got so im gonna like. stop my general rambling now but lmao yeah theres some basics. waves hands.
#sol.txt#sol.orig#long post#late night followers im SO sorry for this#but also like.#i love them so yall just have 2 cope w/ it#no thoughts head dragon age#peonydarling

Relax
Male Dalish Inquisitor/Dorian Pavus
Summary - During Trespasser, Inquisitor is struggling with the pain in his arm, Dorian is close to ripping his hair out.
“Inquisitor you can take a few moments to relax –“, “Cullen the sooner these qunari are dealt with the better, I promise I’m –“ before the elf could finish speaking his left arm lights up in a harsh bright green. The man grips his arm and grits his teeth. The blonde male next to him sighs and scratches the back of his head awkwardly. The light fades after a few tense moments, the elf let go of his arm. “Inquisitor please at least – “the elf turns and looks at his commander. “Cullen, I promise it’s nothing. Now does that conclude our meeting?”. Cullen nods at him and goes to the round table in the centre of the room. The human begins to pick up the reports scattered along the surface. The elven male turns and heads towards the door, the door is opened by the guard and closed once he leaves. Cullen stops for a moment to look at where the inquisitor left, worry clear on his face. The man mumbles a quick prayer for his friend and leader, organizing the reports, picking them up, and leaving the room himself.
As the inquisitor walked through the Orlesian court, he could feel the nobles watching him. He had to admit, this visit to the Winter Palace had gone a lot better than the last. Less nobles sneering at him and calling him ‘knife ear’ or ‘savage’. Of course, there were still the nobles who did not care he saved the world and their empress, not being able to see past his ears or the vallaslin on his face. He walked past Vivienne who was chatting to Varric at the fountain. Looking at the fountain from the corner of his eye he once again questions how expensive it would have been, golden gryphons were not exactly cheap. Even for an Empress. The elf passed through the arch and starts to walk towards the outdoor lounge, the lounge was surrounded by potted greenery.
The elf came to a stop next to a human male lounging on one of the lounges. From what he could see the male was reading an old tome, most likely magic. He tried to read one of the lines, but magic never made much sense to him no matter how many times Dorian tried to explain it. He bent down kissing the other on the head, moving to the other end of the lounge. He reached down and briefly moved the other’s legs to sit down. The male looked up from his reading glaring at the elf and placed his legs on top of the elf’s lap.
“Finally done with the meeting Mahanon?” the tan male asked raising an eyebrow. “For now. Dorian are you able to come with me again? I know you were hit last time”. Worry was evident on Mahanon’s face. Dorian scoffs, closing his book and setting it down. “Yes of course I’m fine”. Mahanon goes to say something but stops, gripping his arm suddenly. The green light illuminates the small space around the two. Dorian reacts quickly, sitting up and leaning closer to the elf. He grabs illuminated arm and mutters a spell incarnation. The green light dims slightly. Mahanon can take a breath and thanks Dorian. He only nods, a look of concern still on his face. After a few more minutes pass and eventually the light fades.
Mahanon stands and stretches his arms out, he looks back at Dorian a smile on his face. “Let’s go get Bull and Varric. Kick some qunari ass”, he started to walk away but stopped when he noticed the mage wasn’t following. He turned to look at Dorian confusion showing clearly. “With all due respect love that can wait. You need to rest” Dorian pleaded. The elf shook his head. “Vhenan you know I can’t. we still have no idea what the qunari are plan to do or what dragon’s brea- “he didn’t get a chance to finish. Dorian stood to his feet now clearly agitated. “Amatus for fuck sake sit down and rest, I don’t care about the rest of the world right now. I care about my boyfriend who is working himself to death” the outburst shocked Mahanon.
“Ok Dorian I promise I will but – “, “no buts, just please Amatus rest”. The worry was clear in Dorian’s voice and his face, a little bit of fear as well. “Ok then “, Mahanon stepped towards Dorian and grabbed his hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze and smiled at his love. The two started to walk towards the inquisitor’s quarters that had been gifted to Mahanon during their stay.
The walk took them back through the main courtyard, past the fountain. Vivienne no longer there, Varric now talking to his seneschal. They passed the tavern; Bull and his chargers having taken over the place. Cole was hovering outside the tavern, watching Maryden play one of her songs. Their walk continued pass, the sleeping quarters not being too far from the tavern. Mahanon tried to converse throughout the walk but would only receive short replies.
As they approached the quarters, two Inquisition guards stood outside the door. They two saluted and opened the door, closing it once both males passed. Mahanon let go of Dorian’s hand walking over to the dresser in the corner of the room. He began to dress out of his formal wear and into more comfortable clothing. Dorian had walked over to the fireplace, having lit the fire. Dorian was seated on the lounge, Mahanon coming over to sit next to the other male.
Silence filled the room. Time passed Dorian suddenly breaking the tension. “I can’t lose you. Not now” Mahanon turned to look at Dorian’s face, watching him as he spoke. “I may have been able to handle losing you earlier, but dammit you mean too much to me now Mahanon. I’m scared of that; I’m scared to lose you”. Mahanon reached for Dorian’s hand, intertwining their fingers. “Dorian you aren’t going to lose me, not anytime soon. This I swear to you”, Dorian finally looked his lover in the eye. “You promise?” “of course, Vhenan, I will always come back to you, no matter what I would have to go through to do so”. Mahanon leaned forward and place a gentle kiss to Dorian’s head. “Amatus?”, “yes Dorian?”. “Please just rest today, we can worry tomorrow”. Mahanon nodded and smiled, wrapping an arm around Dorian’s shoulders and relaxing.

Unexpected friendship - Day 5
I still can’t believe I got a fic for every day of the week!! YAY!
This one is short, but I like how it ended ;) I adore the friendship between Cullen and Dorian, can’t fight it :P
Friendship is a strange thing in those dark days they were living. Cullen has found a friend in the last person he will have thought during the first days of the Inquisition. Dorian Pavus. The man is everything he has been taught to despise. He is a mage, a powerful one, with all the time magic and necromancy. He is from Tevinter, and let say it suave, Fereldans didn't like ‘Vints very much. He is a noble, raised as part of an elite who will control the lives of others. He is sassy, a flirty, he is outspoken and an ironic companion, who seems to enjoy the sound of his own voice and had a weak spot for good wine.
Cullen is sitting in his office, the chess board on his desk waiting for the hour to go to their usual spot under the gazebo to play for as long as duty leaves them. Chuckling while thinking about it. He has never imagined, in his more crazy dreams, that he will enjoy, and even seek, the company of a ‘Vint mage. They didn't have a good start to their relationship, but time has proven Cullen wrong in his first impression of Dorian. The man is a charm. He is funny and well versed. Can talk with you about everything, and if he didn't know about it, he is like a sponge, thirsty of knowledge. He will coax from you all the information he can and then lock himself in his little corner of the library, reading about it. He likes to discuss politics, religion, history… Damn, the man even loves military history and had ordered some books from Tevinter for Cullen, and helped him to read the complicated parts.
They had begun sharing a game of chess after Dorian saw him playing alone in his desk one evening when he accompanied Lavellan to visit him. He stayed that night, while his boyfriend paid a visit to the tavern. He was an awful player, and after three resounding victories and a couple of bottles of wine, he just admitted only to have played with slaves in his father’s house, and everything seemed to indicate that they always let him win. But instead of trying to play better, the man cheated. CHEATED. On chess. Cullen was laughing so hard when he won the first time and sought to sound offended when Cullen said him that he has seen him switching pieces from its place. And his answer after that, even made him cry. He will remember it forever. ‘Then let's play regularly then, maybe in a more sunny place. I need to get better on my disguised movements to win you properly.’ Not getting better by practice, not wanting to learn how to read him, or the table. The man wants to get better at cheating! He always smiles remembering that conversation...
After that first game, they used every free moment they can to play or chill together on Cullen's tower. The first games had been fun, but utterly silent on Cullen's part. But the man has begun to get under his skin, and they began to talk about their past, their shared interest, the Inquisition. Almost about everything under the sun. Obviously, they have some taboo topics, but they learned quickly to read the signals and change the conversation when they see the other flinching.
After some months of comfortable fellowship, Cullen knew that their friendship was on a new level when Dorian visited him, red eyed and half drunk, after the visit to Redcliff and his father’s trap. The reports haven't been detailed, but Lavellan has talked with him after the meeting and told him the truth, because he was, in fact, his only friend besides him. They had spent the night drinking on the battlements, and Cullen ended giving him his coat, laughing at him when Dorian's sense of fashion almost explode, but the man was freezing and didn't want to leave their spot under the stars.
After that night, they just ‘be’. A friendship he didn't expect or searched for, but he gives his thanks to the Maker for it, every day.
The sound of the bells announcing the hour is the signal Cullen has been waiting and picking up the chess board from the table, he leaves the tower. Dorian is already waiting for him, sitting on the little table with a leg crossed over the other and reading a book while trying to ignore the glancing daggers that Mother Giselle throws at him. “Sorry. Have you been waiting for long?”
Closing the book, he put it on the table before giving him a big smile. “Not at all, Commander. I was enjoying the peace of the garden and dodging daggers. Is one of my favourite hobbies, as you already know.”
Cullen smiles to him. His witty comments and acidic tone are like armour for him, and he has learned to polish it when necessary. “You are improving at it. Maybe we can let you join our morning training. I’m sure you can teach something to our rogues.”
“Oh, I’m sure I can. In fact, I have a list of the rogues I want to train with, just in case I can choose with whom I will be rolling on the ground.”
Sitting in the chair after putting the chess board on the table, he shakes his head. “You, my friend, are incorrigible.”
Dorian shrugs exaggeratedly, leaning forward to help Cullen to get the board ready. “And you will not want me any other way, Commander.”
Sincerity flows from Cullen’s chest, and for once, he didn’t want to stop it. “Absolutely, Dorian. Absolutely.”

my opinions on inquisition romances that no one asked for (and who i romanced/will romance them with)
cullen: my fav. the perfect match for my canon inquisitor. i hate his romance with mages though since it seems to be too much guilt on the mage’s side. but with my human warrior noble? perfect. they can bench press each other.
sera: the cutest. it’s dorky and immature but just so adorable. i romanced her with my equally immature dwarf archer. even though it’s not my first choice she can work with an elf if you roleplay her a specific way and she gets too much hate from dalish stans.
blackwall: i haven’t personally tried him yet even though he’s my favorite companion, but thinking about it more i really wanna try. i do love a good old fashioned edgy grimdark love story. i’m thinking with a human circle mage.
iron bull: it’s different. i don’t find him personally attractive, especially his personality (like blackwall i find him more suited for friendship) but i romanced him with a kinky mom elf who’s nothing like me and it worked really well.
josephine: more outright adorableness, especially how she just swoons over my female qunari mage. yeah there’s no sex onscreen but showing it wouldn’t fit with josie’s character.
dorian: like i’ve said before, i have issues with his romance and with people acting like he’s the “perfect sexy gay boyfriend” but i’ve known a lot of people with his self absorbed personality and he just rubs me the wrong way. maybe i can romance him as a no-nonsense dwarf who doesn’t take shit from anyone.
cassandra: idk, hers just doesn’t stick out to me. she’s a cool character and her romance is kind of adorable, but not really enough to make me wanna try it. maybe because she only likes men and i usually play as women?
solas: the worst. absolutely no content. and you can only romance him as one gender and one race so you don’t get much choice. (and the fandom tends to romance him as the same character) i’d like to romance him with a human but i don’t get the option. and does romancing him really have that big of an effect on the story? he was good friends with my human inquisitor and was sad to turn on her so i think romance is ultimately unnecessary to the narrative.

#the Two Heralds AU version of this is even more of a mess#Esti shows up like ‘I’d like to introduce everyone to my fellow Inquisitor and the other half of my soul. this is Brennan. a human noble#‘and this is his boyfriend and my friend Dorian. who is a noble mage from Tevinter’#and while everyone is agog about this Ena is smuggling the fucking Dread Wolf into camp
Oh God, Dorian immediately insults three things and then says that it's still better than how Tevinter does it, complains about being outside, and then tells Brennan at least this above most of the places Brennan's dragged him.
This is the best distraction to use to smuggle in the Dreadwolf.
