like at the end of the day I think the queer community VITALLY needs to start grappling with and thinking about privilege not only in terms of identity but also in terms of perception. bc I deeply fear that the whole "everyone is valid!!" thing has lead to a very toxic sludge situation in which we cannot talk about material reality without everyone covering their ears and going "lalalala but I'm VALID" and it's like. yeah! sure! but also you're still white. or you're still gender conforming. or you're still rich. etc etc. and these things DO in fact have a huge impact. the way in which the outside world views you is important and as much as your personal identity can be True and Valid, you also need to grapple with how much you're being afforded by looking and appearing a certain way
