𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐒 . . . *when you get this, post theme songs for your muse! then tag 5 or more people!
I. Lacrymosa of Evanescence. Out on your own // Cold and alone again // Can this be what you really wanted, baby? // Lacrimosa // (Blame it on me) // Dies illa // (Set your guilt free) // Lacrimosa // (Nothing can hold you back now) Now that you're gone // I feel like myself again // Grieving the things I can't repair and willing // Lacrimosa // (To let you blame it on me) // Dies illa // (And set your guilt free) // Lacrimosa // (I don't want to hold you back now love)
I can't change who I am
Not this time, I won't lie // To keep you near me and in this short life // There's no time to waste on giving up // My love wasn't enough // Lacrimosa // (And you can blame it on me) // Dies illa // (Just set your guilt free, honey) // Lacrimosa // (I don't want to hold you back now love)
II. Graveyard of Halsey. They say I may be making a mistake // I would've followed all the way // no matter how far // I know when you go down all your darkest roads // I would've followed all the way to the graveyard
Oh, 'cause I keep diggin' myself down deeper // I won't stop 'til I get where you are // I keep running when both my feet hurt // I won't stop 'til I get where you are // Oh, when you go down all your darkest roads // I would've followed all the way to the graveyard
III. Stigma of V. Deeper, deeper, the wound just gets deeper // Like pieces of broken glass that I can't reverse // Deeper, it's just the heart that hurts every day // You who was punished in my stead // You who were only delicate and fragile
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, my brother // Even if I try to hide it // Or conceal it, it can't be erased // "Are you calling me a sinner?" // What more do I have to say // I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry my sister // Even if I try to hide it // Or conceal it, it can't be erased // So, cry, please, dry my eyes, ooh
That light, that light, please illuminate my sins (Oh) // Where I can't turn back // The red blood is flowing down // Deeper, I feel like dying every day // Please let me be punished // Please forgive me for my sins // Please
IV. The Sharpest Loves of My Chemical Romance. There's a place in the dark where the animals go // You can take off your skin in the cannibal glow // Juliet loves the beat and the lust it commands // Drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, Romeo
I've really been on a bender and it shows // So why don't you blow me // A kiss before she goes
Give me a shot to remember // And you can take all the pain away from me // Your kiss and I will surrender // The sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead // A light to burn all the empires // So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be // In love with all of these vampires // So you can leave like the sane, abandon me
V. Film Out of BTS. Don't have to be right // Just wanted you to stay the way you are // Kind-hearted, always smiling, but // If tears can be measured, it took this long but // I've barely made it by your side (Barely made it) // And found you (Ooh)
From all the memories stored in my heart // I gather up the ones of you, link them together // Gazing at them projected across the room (Ooh, oh, oh, oh, ooh) // I fall asleep with you vivid in my arms
The words you whisper, the resonance // Wander aimlessly around the room // The fragrance I smell, the warmth I feel // As long as it lasts, as long as it lasts
You, in my imagination // Are so vivid, oh // As if you are right there // But I reach out my hand // And you suddenly disappear

Singing the Dirge - Musically-inclined villains
Hullo, Gentle Readers. This week’s Question from a Denizen comes to us from the hilariously named callsignuptomyassinshit. They ask, “I'm running a cross-country battle of the bands meets mad max style campaign, and I was wondering if you had any tips on running a musically inclined villain.”
There are plenty of evil and morally-complicated characters that have been shown to have a musical side. Captain Nemo plays his pipe organ when the Nautilus isn’t wiping out ships. The infamous Phantom of the Opera, Erik, sings, plays music, and composes eerie but brilliant music in his lair. Lord Summerisle is a capable singer, but he has no compunctions about sending human sacrifices to ancient powers because he believes it gives his people protection and bounty. And let’s not forget that the Devil has been known to wager golden fiddles against the souls of mortal bards.
I guess the big question I would ask myself in such a situation is how large a role I expect actual music to play in the campaign itself. I love using music in my campaigns, and I’ve described in other articles how I often give specific NPCs in my campaign musical themes that I play when they’re around. Likewise, if I had actual music I wanted an NPC to be playing in my campaign, I would make sure I had it ready to play so that the players could hear it at the same time the PCs were hearing it.
I would tend to try and incorporate early music as much as possible here, and there are plenty of creepy songs in early music with bloody themes that you could play with. It might also be good, however, to infuse the NPCs music with a strangeness and eerieness. You might do so by locating creepy themes in classical music. Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns, Bach’s Toccata & Fugue in D Minor, In the Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg, or Listz’s Totentanz could all be used to evoke a mood of nervousness or dread, for example. When people hear the theme, especially if it’s very distinctive, they’re going to know the villain is up to something.
Many fantasy and horror movies offer some excellent themes to use against your players. I’m not the biggest fan of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (except for Gary Oldman’s performance and those amazing costumes), but the music by Wojciech Kilar is amazing, with some brilliant themes. The movies for the Lord of the Rings & the Hobbit have some brilliantly creepy music scattered throughout.
Other sources to look to include music from various bands like Dead Can Dance, the Decemberists, Steeleye Span, and other groups that walk the line of early music and modern music. Many video games have brilliant soundtracks now, and I’ve certainly used my fair share of them to provide music for my games.
As far as abilities go, the immediate obvious answer is to look to the abilities and spells of bards for inspiration (no pun intended). Music is often intended to evoke an emotional response, and I would tend to lean into this. I’d tend to center their powers around charm, fear, sleep, confusion, and the like. Perhaps they can stir up terror in their enemies, or a berserk frenzy in their allies. Maybe they can bewilder so completely that a PC won’t be able to tell friend from foe. Or maybe those PCs will slide into slumber and wake to find the villain long gone.
One thing that could be really fun is to utterly eschew the entire feel of a villain. Give the enemy sweet and beautiful music. Make him or her friendly and affable, an NPC that the PCs love to deal with, and maybe one they don’t realize for a long time is actually their enemy. When the PCs finally realize the villain IS the villain, it’s likely to hit them hard and to have a lot of impact if it’s someone they already have a lot of affection for.
If you really want to rock their world, have there be someone that they’re sure is the villain early on. Maybe there’s even a mid-campaign battle where they aid their “ally” against this rival/enemy. But then, it’s revealed that their “ally” is the true villain of the campaign, and now they have to help someone they may despise. This could make for a very memorable story indeed!
Well, callsign, I hope this helps. Let us know how your campaign goes!

ok i would say do all of the end of year asks but there are a lot so do whichever ones you want!!!!
I am SO sorry I was studying these past few days and forgot about this! I'm down for all of them, I'll do some studying and then one question at a time! You're so sweet for this
First things first, did you have a good year?
It was a pretty sweet year! I sucked it up and went to actually talk to people I like, I changed degrees, I traveled (I want back to Brussels) and I’m finally brave enough to do musical theater!
How old did you turn this year?
20, like 4 days ago.
Do you feel your age?
I do, I’m not sure I like it. I’m surrounded by amazing people who remind me that I’m on the right track and I have nothing to worry about, but I’m such a go getter, I get sad when I see that not everything I wanted to do necessarily happened before I turned 20.
Did your appearance change in anyway?
I did cut my hair and my red edges are gone, I threw away all the clothes I never wear. I've been told that I look like myself more than ever and that I’m more sunshine-y, which is super sweet.
If you traveled, where did you go?
Greece, Brussels, had a road trip where we visited Welsh and British towns (Abaraeron has the best Greek Ice Cream on this planet I swear)
What was your favorite article of clothing this year? Post a pic if possible?
So the minute I finished stranger things I bought myself a ‘Should I stay or Should Eggo’ hoodie and it’s the best thing ever. I always travel in it, because I’m never cold on airports with it.
What album came out and has been on heavy rotation since then?
Sweetener was pretty sweet. The soundtrack of the Star Is Born as well. Nothing else I can think of right now? Lots of musical theater music, I've been in love with ‘Heathers’ and ‘Waitress’ so ‘Candy Store’ and ‘Bad Idea’ come on my speakers at least twice a day! Also lots of orchestra music, because @reddie-trashetti is a king and made me a playlist and I LOOOVE Danse Macabre & Meeting the Justice Society of America!
Did an actor/actress catch your attention for the first time this year?
Millie? Hello? The Stranger Things cast in general, they are all so adorable! Winona Ryder as well, I knew her from before but I was kindly reminded how AMAZING she is. Watched Heathers for the first time! Maya Hawke is pretty darn cute and the fact that she was Jo in Little women was love.
Which new ship/fandom has taken over a lot of your time, attention, and tears?
I’m going to be honest I don’t ever watch horror movies because I just can’t and I knew that IT existed because I've read Carrie and two of my friends were absolutely ecstatic about the movie. And you know how ST fans are often IT fans and my dash became 50% IT. And you know how our favorite Finn is in IT. I watched all the available ‘Behind The Scenes’ videos and the ones where they paint over Bill Skarsgård’s face and I traced every jump scare and watched it BEFORE watching the actual movie. And I watched the movie and I loved it. So IT & Reddie.
What was one nice thing you did for someone else?
I had a toxic friend that was mentally abusing another friend of mine and I didn't notice until said friend quite literally went away to heal. So I went to check on her and we became really close and I love her so much. And she’s been my biggest support after I dropped the toxic friend.
What was one nice thing you did for yourself?
Listened to myself, like actually sat there and listened to what I really want to do and be.
Did anyone/thing make you so mad it stayed with you for days?
Yes. For a long time I had kind of trained myself to be all ‘nice, calm vibes, tea and not getting angry :) ’ and at some point I couldn't do it anymore. Kids, if someone is doing something toxic or abusive don’t be nice with them! The best you can do is to be neutral.
Did you fall in love?
No? But I like someone a whole lot.
Who was important to you this year but wasn’t important last year?
So it’s my brother’s first year and it’s so weird to be a big sister, but it’s so amazing, like I’d quite literally murder anyone for that sweet guy!
What was the best moment of the year for you?
Moments with my bestest friend. Yesterday he came to see me on his way to the cottage he was supposed to celebrate new year at and like... he had to completely go out of his way to come see me. I love him so much.
What are you most proud of accomplishing?
I had my first musical theater audition and that was so scary but so good!
What have you learned about yourself this year that you didn’t know in the years prior?
I can do a lot more than I think I’m capable of. I don’t have to focus on one thing career-wise, I can be a dope AI researcher and a musical theater (or any kind of) actor at the same time. My parents are more supportive, I just assume they wouldn't be for whatever reason.
If you make resolutions, did you complete them this year?
Gosh, I don’t remember them! I put them on paper this year so ask me again in a year!
If you make resolutions, what will your resolutions be for the coming year?
Right so... I really want to be healthy. Write a lot more. Sing a lot more. Have my script in the works. Ask a girl on a date. Actually take one of the opportunities I get to be an extra and see how a set works in detail. Buy Gordan Ramsay’s masterclass. Take a veterinary module at university. Actually enjoy having a blog and stop writing what I think people would like to hear and write what I feel like writing instead.
What do you wish for others for the coming year? What do you wish for yourself?
I wish us all to be happy and healthy and to make 2019 absolutely fucking amazing!

Musically one of the best rock/metal albums released this year and I don’t say that lightly.
Overdrive Magazine
Over the last few years, Ghost have made a big splash on the world stage. A larger than life, theatrical hard rock/metal band led by charismatic front man Tobias Forge playing various versions of a satanic pope known as Papa Emeritus. Ghost are renowned for their spectacular stage shows but have also earned a reputation as one of the best hard rock acts around today. The band has released three studio albums so far, each one more like a film release than a record release; Forge has conceived and directed everything from character creation to cinematography. It was recently announced the band would be releasing their fourth album ‘Prequelle’ and fans have been keenly following details excitedly as they are released. Forge has announced that the three previous popes are dead and that his new character of Cardinal Copia would be leading the band. According to a recent press release, ‘Prequelle’ the plague, the apocalypse and the dark ages, as well as a snapshot of the world we live in. One listen and the theme of the modern world falling to the Black Plague comes to the fore immediately, woven amongst the bands usual themes of satanic rebellion and anti-redemption. The first track Ashes is a spooky and atmospheric instrumental introduction that really sets the tone. Hammer horror-esque music plays as children creepily sing the full version of ring-around-the-rosey. It is deeply unsettling and immediately introduces the plague concept effectively.
The album launches into the already released first single Rats. This single has quickly become popular for a reason. It is a metal tinged hard rock track full of energy that you can rock along to, the melodic singing of Forge softening the blow of some pretty dark lyrics. This is one of the best Ghost tracks yet. They have really pinpointed what they do best and ran with it. The music is played well, not to complicated but kept interesting with tempo changes and some real solid guitar work. Immediately a high standard is set and the next track does. Not disappoint. Faith is darker and heavier with a very traditional 80s metal feel. The chorus lightens up musically with a more rock sound, and the lyrics have an anti-religious theme Ghost are known for. Some excellent guitar work really drives this track and grabs your attention. The band may be known for theatrics but they once again prove they are some excellent musicians. This track will really excite fans who loved the heavier sound of the last album.
Next up we have See The Light and fittingly we are led into the song a church organ backing up what sounds like a heavenly choir. Then a more traditional piano kicks in followed by the guitars playing a slow but heavy rhythm that brings to mind a power ballad. The song makes use of the choir again during the chorus as Forge’s powerful voice sings lyrics such as “every day that you feed me with hate I grow stronger”. Ghost are excellent at really bringing framing deep, dark lyrics with catchy tunes. This song deface Italy has an 80s power ballad feel but in the best way possible. There is a synth sound throughout the track that is almost reminiscent of a Keytar, and somehow this all works so well. A good, solid track that acts as a thematic bridge leading into Miasma. We here the church organ again but there is a crackly, lo-vibe tinge to it. Then some slow, heavy guitars kick in backed up by a pounding drum beat. This is another slow tempo song, similar to the previous song but with more of a traditional metal tinge. This track is an instrumental with some real attention grabbing guitar solos. The synths have that 80s sound again but with a heavier feel, and this track really rocks out. This band is very good at blending elements that are a bit different into some well composed music. Then it happens. Saxaphone solo! I don’t know how the band makes it work but they do in a really fun way.
This more dance-inducing feel continues into the next track, the second single Danse Macabre. This track is pure hard rock, and Forge’s past in the genre really comes to the fore. This has a more modern feel and a faster tempo, being one of the catchiest tracks on the album. Very high energy that makes you want to dance, with lyrics about people dancing and, well, hooking up as they realise they are dying. This is the highlight of the album, and one of the better tracks they have released. Not as heavy as some previous fair, but I feel this one would be amazing to see performed live. A symphonic intro leads us into the ballad Pro Memoria, which has a mournful tone rounded out by what sound like a violin. Soft piano starts and the tone is quite heavy, despite the softer sound. Lyrics sing of Lucifer, death and people waiting to die. Heavier guitars intersperse themselves with that church organ sound that is the bands trademark. This is a nice tonal change from the previous couple of songs. This seems like a simple, soft ballad on the surface but forge is excellent at exploiting the mood. This track really punches you in the heart.
Witch Image brings it back around to the rock sound Ghost are known for. This song is more like their earlier stuff, but more fine-tuned. Very much a rock song without the softer elements. There are power metal-tinged guitar solos with a rock edge and the whole song is more upbeat. Forge’s voice really gets a work out on this track, really proving himself as a talented vocalist and not just a showman. Then things take a bit of a strange turn. Helvensfonster is another instrumental and feels like an intermission almost. There is an 80s horror movie feel to the music, with a synth sound that almost sounds flute like. Then the heaviness kicks in. Power metal guitars kick in with an epic feel, like you are in a battle almost. Epic 80s power guitar and synth battle in the style of Europe or Journey. The song then takes on a very sombre, mournful feel with a howling wind sound interspersing a very folkish, medieval sound. Then the church bells chime. As the themes get darker so does the music, and you can feel yourself being drawn in more and more.
The last track is the aptly named Life Eternal. Piano plays over mournful, balladic singing. There is almost the feel of a love song at first listen, but of course the song is about the inevitable conclusion. Death. The music and vocals sound soft and sweet and lull you into a a slower mood. There are some heavier guitars that pick up the pace and there is an epic, almost redemptive feel. Very catchy, despite the almost nihilistic lyrical content. The drums really stand out on this track, the gentle but marching feel drawing the whole album to a natural close. This is a song you can sing along to. It really finishes the album on a high, and is another track that would be really exciting to see live.
Overall, this album prove why Ghost are as popular and well respected as they are. They show they are more than just a stage show with each song. Yet the whole album weaves together thematically so well you become excited for the visuals that will inevitably follow. They do just as well, if not better, than the last album ‘Meliora’ which is a big feat. Fans of Ghost will love this album and newcomers to the band will find something to love and draw them in to the existing story. Musically one of the best rock/metal albums released this year and I don’t say that lightly. My only criticism is the short length of the album. They really lock down the Ghost sound and refine it. Now all we can do is pray to Cardinal Copia that they tour here.

black bird
“No, no no no no-no-no-no. no!” He waved his arms, rising and striding his way over to the stage. “You need to relax! You need to stop – just stop fighting.” He lets the slaves slump down, free from his control. All but one of them. “You. Your timing is terrible.”
He chastises and cajoles, the Old Noxian tripping delightfully off his tongue. He is a joy to listen to, so musical, so sweet. But this fellow stares up at Vlad in defiance. Sweat beaded on his brow, every muscle tense. Resisting, with every fibre of his being.
Vlad grits his teeth, and raises a hand, fingers spread as though controlling a marionette. On the stage, the man jerks to his feet, arms akimbo, grunting and yelling through gritted teeth.
“The Grand General has demanded a test of my abilities,” Vlad says, calmly, almost pleadingly. His fingers twitch slightly, and the captured slave spasms in response. “This – you’re a part of – this is important. You’re a part of the Danse Macabre. And it needs to be perfect. Perfect, do you understand?” He pauses to look at the other slaves. “You’ll all be freed once this is over, but only - only! - only if we get this right.”
The dangling slave swallows, and glowers. Resisting.
Vlad claws his hands, and pulls sharply towards himself. The slave jerks, flies forward off the edge of the stage, and tumbles to the floor. Vlad strides over, one hand extended for control and the other flexing, silver claws gleaming.
“I’ve been lenient, I’ve been patient, I’ve been more than you deserve,” his voice is rising in volume with every syllable. He has more to say, but the slave kicks, kicks him, breaking the control to actually dare to strike against Vladimir and –
Vladimir cannot be held accountable for what happens next.
When he’s finished, he rises, signing, straightening his robes and sweeping his dishevelled hair back into place. His whole body pulses, throbs, the blood singing in his veins, the triumph thrumming through him. Like the afterglow of a good fuck.
He looks up at the stage, at the frightened, staring faces of the remaining slaves.
“You know,” he says, calmly, “The choreography will be much simpler with just twelve.” He raises both hands, and the slaves scramble to take their positions before the hemomancy grips at their veins. “And a one and a two and a three…”

Alright I've stuck to things in my Liked Music playlist so the material I'm working with here is already just... Hm. But it'll do, I think. Also I'm trying to pick things that haven't been popular with animators for animatics so I'm purposely avoiding things like Panic! At The Disco.
I also don't have a lot of things for Sapnap, that’s the one thing I couldn’t do. I tried, I really did. But I don’t have the right kind of music tastes for him. :(
For Ranboo:
Dream Sweet In Sea Major, by Miracle Musical (it's a bit long, I understand if you don't like it)
Hiveswap Act 1 Intermission, by James Roach
Life is Fun - ft Boy In A Band, by TheOdd1sOut
deCIPHER, by Madame Macabre (listen this is more of a Dream song but it's something Ranboo’s Dream hallucination might sing to Ranboo, so it’s a good Ranboo song)
Danse Macabre, by Camille Saint-Saëns
Strictly Taboo, by Audiomachine
Into The Unknown, from the Subnautica soundtrack
Waterfall, by Toby Fox
For Ghostbur (I can't do this ghost justice, my music tastes do not suit him at all):
Home, by Toby Fox
Remember You, by Rebecca Sugar, the demo one (Fundy Angst 😢)
Close To The Sun, by TheFatRat and Anjulie (the acoustic guitar one)
Scarborough Fair, cover by Super Guitar Bros and Dan Avidan
Alive, by Amarante
Claire De Lune Suite Bergamasque, the recording by Los Angeles Guitar Company
Burning Pile, by Mother Mother (I see this has been suggested many times)
Tommyinnit (this one was fun!):
Cats On Mars, by the Seatbelts
Porkchop Express, by Stephen Walking
Mr. Blue Sky, by Electric Light Orchestra
The Call, by Regina Spektor (I'M FULL OF HOPE AND LOVE, BITCHES)
Hiveswap Act 1 OST - That's How I Beat Snake, by James Roach and Toby Fox
Pigstep Electro Swing Remix, by Zivex
For Sapnap, I looked for like, half an hour through my playlists. I just Do Not Have music that I think would fit him well. I found a Bastille song and a Toby Fox piece and I'm still on the fence about them both. So. Yeah.
Things We Lost In The Fire, by Bastille
Atomyk Ebonpire, by Toby Fox
Bonus Jack Manifold:
I've No More Fucks To Give, by Johnathan Benjamin Wild Esq. (this one is funny, but don't play it out loud, liberal use of the word "fuck")
I refuse to apologize for electro swing and Homestuck music. Toby Fox’s tracks are fire no matter what he’s writing them for.
So I'm making playlists for different SMP members but they have different vibes to them bc it's based on one of my aus, and I need song recommendations bc I only know so many songs. You can reblog, reply, send me an ask or a message, idc. Ill link the playlists once they're ready so you guys can listen to our collaborative efforts. Preferably these songs have lyrics but I'm 100% cool with anything you throw at me. I may do more playlists another time, but I'm stretching it with these 4 as it is.
For Ranboo's playlist, I need songs that give you guys c!Ranboo vibes as well as songs that have a bit of an otherworldly feel to them.
For Wilbur's playlist, I mostly need songs that have a chill Ghostbur vibe, but songs that make you feel like fighting god (and winning) are absolutely welcome as well.
For Tommy's playlist, I need hype songs that give you pre-Pogtopia Tommy vibes, bc I hard-focused on exile arc Tommy and need more happy tunes.
Finally, for Sapnap's playlist I want to see those sweet arsonnap vibes, as well as songs that make you think of the Dream Team dynamic.

🎶🎶🎶 hehe
Send me "🎶🎶🎶" and I will share with you 1-3 music tracks that I associate my muse(s) with!
Angel On Fire ― Halsey.
I used to be a darling starlet, like a centerpiece Had the whole world wrapped around my ring I flew too closely to the sun that's setting in the East And now I'm melting from my wings Cause nobody seems to ask about me anymore And nobody ever cares about anything I think And nobody seems to recognize me in the crowd In the background, screaming, "Everybody, look at me" And I'm fading away, you know I used to be on fire I'm standing in the ashes of who I used to be But I'm fading away, you know I used to be on fire
Ahhh this one is quite special. like a switch when I first heard it, because it directly aligns with her childhood and burgeoning adult mind, before her immortality. Being so loved and cared for as a child but following her dream to learn alchemy and 'melting from my wings', everyone turning their back on her until it comes to a head on the day of her witch's pyre. There's a conflict of Khrosteia's soul finally making herself known, fighting to dominate the human that she was born as. She does consider herself to have died that day, and mourns her every year on that day.
