GODDESS OF THE MOON AND STARS KHROSTEIA
Tumblr media
ASSOCIATED WITH : Death, madness, and alchemy  SACRED PLANTS : oleander, deadly nightshade, and angel’s trumpet.  SACRED ANIMAL (s): wolves, serpents, ravens, and butterflies.
the goddess of the moon and stars, she also is affiliated with illusions and transformation. the popular myth razmir’s labyrinth makes her the lover of the mortal alchemist after he faces her trials. Divine Mother, moons and stars supernova'd from her essence.
Khrosteia is favored as patron goddess of scholars, alchemists, and mages. there are many arcane secrets that are rumored to have been revealed to mortals by Khrosteia. her greatest worshippers are known to brand their bodies with arrays that come from “khrosteia’s gift”. these mages and alchemists are exceptionally powerful. she is also associated with seers, the oracles rely on her moonlight to illuminate the paths in their visions, and it is ill-advised to ask an oracle for a prophecy on a moonless night, as Khrosteia will not deliver her blessing to see through the illusions that the oracle may see.
in general, khrosteia is known as a goddess who works for her own benefit. sometimes her desires will be beneficial to mortals, and sometimes they won’t be.
Blood sacrifices in pursuit of knowledge will surely bring you good fortune from this goddess. She values those who delve into what is forbidden to further their own gains, especially those who would sacrifice all else to make that happen. She values those that are willing to feel pain for their goals, adoring those that will kill or bleed to succeed. She loves to watch the madness of others come out.
Compose harrowing arias of battle and bloodshed - involve passionate love and sharp violins in her name. Operatic is preferred, but she will accept any different kind if the story reaches her strongly enough. Piece together her altar with dim candles, bones and brambles, surround by a wreathe of roses and Belladonna berries, feathers to decorate and pray to her with. Performing alchemy on or near her altar will greatly please her.
Her appearance is that of a dark-skinned, naked goddess wrapped in a pure white silken robe. Striking silver hair falls far past her heels, large black caprinae horns wrap her head like a laurel, with bright red eyes to capture your attention immediately. On her back she will be able to grow large and formidable wings of bone and sinew, with the rest of her body decorated with many alchemical symbols. Her third eye proudly on display, looking deeply into your truth.
one could consider the Goddess Khrosteia to be a goddess forbidden by the more morally lawful of scholars. though she takes great care of her patrons, she is not exactly known for her goodness. there is no benevolence. once weakness is sensed, weakness is punished swiftly. she will rip through bone and flesh, tear apart the brain that so dares to forget their piety.
a show of weakness as her patron is a direct sign of contempt. of mockery. disrespect. Most of, if not all, of Qistina's nature is a direct result of Khrosteia's soul. Qistina is not a traditional reincarnation, as alchemy is not a power of humans. rather, it is a power of gods. specifically, Khrosteia, who dared to show her power against the other gods before her. She is rebellious and utterly thirsty to remain free. Khrosteia comes forth against Qistina's soul every time she uses alchemy to overexertion. Her body simply cannot contain the goddess's power within, she would break apart. However.
in moments, there is a certain catalyst that sparks against her abilities as an alchemist. when soul of Qistina and soul of Khrosteia join as one. her body may disappear, but what remains is the very thing found beyond the end of the light. She becomes an EinSof - a god before gods were born. power compressed within a body of blinding light. a eye to give sight to the soul within sits in the middle of what could be a 'face'.
it is not death itself. it is a creature that exceeds humanity and cosmic being alike. both Qistina and Khrosteia fight from within. Qistina remains alive because of Khrosteia, and Khrosteia is still alive because of Qistina. In this, they become One and their souls join with that EinSof, that creature that sits beyond soul and eldritch knowledge. She will be different, yet the same. Such a joining has only happened once, if ever so briefly ― the moment when both the lives of Qistina and Khrosteia were in danger. Tied to the witches pyre for her crucifixion, killing all life in the village. All person and leaf and soil and air. Though it quickly returned to her soul at the behest of Khrosteia's soul, having just awakened from Qistina's constant discovery of alchemy. Qistina does not know to this extent, but there will come a time when she does. The madness of Khrosteia will surely bring about this second coming and further destroy the world for its betrayal of Her.
qistina consumes. when the goddess khrosteia's soul seeps strongly through her thoughts in times of alchemical performances, she will be prone to consuming her enemies. tearing through ribs to snag at the heart, remove it by the swiftness of needle through cloth. crack the skull to drink deeply the mind that so carried a daring to go against her power -
she is the moon. the beautiful moon. powerful enough to sway the tides, make calm the uncontrollable - make violent the quiet. brighten even the darkest of nights, frighten lost souls when hidden behind wispy clouds of grey. she gives hope to the hopeless, and dreams to the uncertain. qistina, is certainly a woman like this. she became her own moon, even without the power of Khrosteia ( the moon herself ) a powerful soul to break even the unbreakable, and a shining light in the darkness. but frightening and more beautiful than anything one could imagine.

Here are some of the upcoming books we’re anticipating for the fall:
Join the Den of Geek Book Club!
Top New Fantasy Books September 2020
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
Type: Novel  Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing Release date: Sept. 15
Den of Geek says: Clarke’s atmospheric Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell was an eerie, old-fashioned take on the fairy genre, delicate and complex at once. She returns with a haunted house tale (!) featuring endless rooms, mysterious characters, and “A Great and Secret Knowledge.” Publisher’s summary: Piranesi’s house is no ordinary building: its rooms are infinite, its corridors endless, its walls are lined with thousands upon thousands of statues, each one different from all the others. Within the labyrinth of halls an ocean is imprisoned; waves thunder up staircases, rooms are flooded in an instant. But Piranesi is not afraid; he understands the tides as he understands the pattern of the labyrinth itself. He lives to explore the house.
There is one other person in the house-a man called The Other, who visits Piranesi twice a week and asks for help with research into A Great and Secret Knowledge. But as Piranesi explores, evidence emerges of another person, and a terrible truth begins to unravel, revealing a world beyond the one Piranesi has always known.
For readers of Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane and fans of Madeline Miller’s Circe, Piranesi introduces an astonishing new world, an infinite labyrinth, full of startling images and surreal beauty, haunted by the tides and the clouds.
Buy Piranesi by Susanna Clarke on Amazon.
Master of Poisons by Andrea Hairston
Type: Novel Publisher: Tor.com Release date: Sept. 8
Den of Geek says: A lyrical, apocalyptic fantasy epic, Master of Poisons sends two very different characters into an unforgiving world in a creative new alternate empire. Publisher’s summary: The world is changing. Poison desert eats good farmland. Once-sweet water turns foul. The wind blows sand and sadness across the Empire. To get caught in a storm is death. To live and do nothing is death. There is magic in the world, but good conjure is hard to find.
Djola, righthand man and spymaster of the lord of the Arkhysian Empire, is desperately trying to save his adopted homeland, even in exile.
Awa, a young woman training to be a powerful griot, tests the limits of her knowledge and comes into her own in a world of sorcery, floating cities, kindly beasts, and uncertain men.
Awash in the rhythms of folklore and storytelling and rich with Hairston’s characteristic lush prose, Master of Poisons is epic fantasy that will bleed your mind with its turns of phrase and leave you aching for the world it burns into being.
Buy Master of Poisons by Andrea Hairston on Amazon.
The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart
Type: Novel Publisher: Hachette Books  Release date: Sept. 8
Den of Geek says: The magic system in this debut has a pleasantly video game-like system of magic talismans and animal automatons. Publisher’s summary: The emperor’s reign has lasted for decades, his mastery of bone shard magic powering the animal-like constructs that maintain law and order. But now his rule is failing, and revolution is sweeping across the Empire’s many islands.
Lin is the emperor’s daughter and spends her days trapped in a palace of locked doors and dark secrets. When her father refuses to recognise her as heir to the throne, she vows to prove her worth by mastering the forbidden art of bone shard magic.
Yet such power carries a great cost, and when the revolution reaches the gates of the palace, Lin must decide how far she is willing to go to claim her birthright – and save her people.

Top New Fantasy Books August 2020
The Tyrant Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson
Type: Novel  Publisher: Tor Release date: Aug. 11
Den of Geek says: The Baru Cormorant series features as its hero a mentally ill accountant with the fate of an empire at her fingers. The third book in the series promises more dark, twisty introspection and grim, creative world-building.
Publisher’s summary: The hunt is over. After fifteen years of lies and sacrifice, Baru Cormorant has the power to destroy the Imperial Republic of Falcrest that she pretends to serve. The secret society called the Cancrioth is real, and Baru is among them.
But the Cancrioth’s weapon cannot distinguish the guilty from the innocent. If it escapes quarantine, the ancient hemorrhagic plague called the Kettling will kill hundreds of millions…not just in Falcrest, but all across the world. History will end in a black bloodstain.
Is that justice? Is this really what Tain Hu hoped for when she sacrificed herself?
Baru’s enemies close in from all sides. Baru’s own mind teeters on the edge of madness or shattering revelation. Now she must choose between genocidal revenge and a far more difficult path―a conspiracy of judges, kings, spies and immortals, puppeteering the world’s riches and two great wars in a gambit for the ultimate prize.
If Baru had absolute power over the Imperial Republic, she could force Falcrest to abandon its colonies and make right its crimes.
Buy The Tyrant Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson on Amazon.
Beowulf: A New Translation by Maria Dahvana Headley
Type: Epic Poem  Publisher: MCD x FSG Originals Release date: Aug. 25
Den of Geek says: Headley got an intimate look at Beowulf in the modern interpretation The Mere Wife. She turns the intellect behind that inventive, scathing novel about complex and furious women to a translation of the poem featuring new research.
Publisher’s summary: Nearly twenty years after Seamus Heaney’s translation of Beowulf―and fifty years after the translation that continues to torment high-school students around the world―there is a radical new verse translation of the epic poem by Maria Dahvana Headley, which brings to light elements that have never before been translated into English, recontextualizing the binary narrative of monsters and heroes into a tale in which the two categories often entwine, justice is rarely served, and dragons live among us.
A man seeks to prove himself as a hero. A monster seeks silence in his territory. A warrior seeks to avenge her murdered son. A dragon ends it all. The familiar elements of the epic poem are seen with a novelist’s eye toward gender, genre, and history―Beowulf has always been a tale of entitlement and encroachment, powerful men seeking to become more powerful, and one woman seeking justice for her child, but this version brings new context to an old story. While crafting her contemporary adaptation of Beowulf, Headley unearthed significant shifts lost over centuries of translation.
Buy Beowulf: A New Translation by Maria Dahvana Headley on Amazon.
The Wizard Knight by Gene Wolfe
Type: Novel (Reprint)  Publisher: Tor Books Release date: Aug. 11
Den of Geek says: Gene Wolfe is a modern master of fantasy. This reprint of a 2004 duology provides both original stories in one paperback package.
Publisher’s summary: A young man in his teens is transported from our world to a magical realm consisting of seven levels of reality. Transformed by magic into a grown man of heroic proportions, he takes the name Sir Able of the High Heart and sets out on a quest to find the sword that has been promised to him, the blade that will help him fulfill his ambition to become a true hero―a true knight.
Inside, however, Sir Able remains a boy, and he must grow in every sense to survive what lies ahead…

Top New Fantasy Books July 2020
The Book of Dragons: An Anthology by Jonathan Strahan
Type: Anthology  Publisher: Harper Voyager  Release date: July 7
Den of Geek says: I’m always looking for a good book about dragons, and this incredible list of authors promises adventurous and unique stories. Anne Leckie, Zen Cho, Seanan Maguire, J.Y. Yang, Patricia A McKillip, Brooke Bolander … it’s an astounding, literary-flavored list of people qualified to write cool creatures.
Publisher’s summary: Here there be dragons . . .
From China to Europe, Africa to North America, dragons have long captured our imagination in myth and legend. Whether they are rampaging beasts awaiting a brave hero to slay or benevolent sages who have much to teach humanity, dragons are intrinsically connected to stories of creation, adventure, and struggle beloved for generations.
Bringing together nearly thirty stories and poems from some of the greatest science fiction and fantasy writers working today— Garth Nix, Scott Lynch, R.F. Kuang, Ann Leckie & Rachel Swirsky, Daniel Abraham, Peter S. Beagle, Beth Cato, Zen Cho, C. S. E Cooney, Aliette de Bodard, Amal El-Mohtar, Kate Elliott, Theodora Goss, Ellen Klages, Ken Liu, Seanan Maguire, Patricia A McKillip, K. J. Parker, Kelly Robson, Michael Swanwick, Jo Walton, Elle Katharine White, Jane Yolen, Kelly Barnhill, Brooke Bolander, Sarah Gailey, and J. Y. Yang—and illustrated by award-nominated artist Rovina Cai with black-and-white line drawings specific to each entry throughout, this extraordinary collection vividly breathes fire and life into one of our most captivating and feared magical creatures as never before and is sure to become a treasured keepsake for fans of fantasy, science fiction, and fairy tales.
Buy The Book of Dragons by Jonathan Strahan on Amazon.
Or What You Will by Joe Walton
Type: Novel  Publisher: Tor Books Release date: July 7
Den of Geek says: Jo Walton is a writer’s writer, highly praised but still generally skating under the radar. I found her 2014 My Real Children to not nearly live up to its very high concept, but she’s one of those authors with technical prowess who is at least worth checking out for context for women’s science fiction. The metafiction plot sounds fun.
Publisher’s summary: He has been too many things to count. He has been a dragon with a boy on his back. He has been a scholar, a warrior, a lover, and a thief. He has been dream and dreamer. He has been a god.
But “he” is in fact nothing more than a spark of idea, a character in the mind of Sylvia Harrison, 73, award-winning author of thirty novels over forty years. He has played a part in most of those novels, and in the recesses of her mind, Sylvia has conversed with him for years.
But Sylvia won’t live forever, any more than any human does. And he’s trapped inside her cave of bone, her hollow of skull. When she dies, so will he.
Now Sylvia is starting a new novel, a fantasy for adult readers, set in Thalia, the Florence-resembling imaginary city that was the setting for a successful YA trilogy she published decades before. Of course he’s got a part in it. But he also has a notion. He thinks he knows how he and Sylvia can step off the wheel of mortality altogether. All he has to do is convince her.
Buy Or What You Will by Jo Walton on Amazon.
The Adventure Zone: Petals to the Metal
Type: Graphic Novel  Publisher: First Second  Release date: July 14
Den of Geek says: The Adventure Zone is a wildly popular humorous fantasy podcast. It’s part of the big 2010s wave of Dungeons & Dragons coming back into the geek space. Especially for someone who might not want to listen to hundreds of episodes of a podcast, the illustrated version does a good job of smoothing out the story into a graphic novel format without removing the goofy chaos of the original podcast.
Publisher’s summary: START YOUR ENGINES, friends, Clint McElroy and sons Griffin, Justin, and Travis hit the road again with Taako, Magnus and Merle, the beloved agents of chaos from the #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novels illustrated by Carey Pietsch, The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins and The Adventure Zone: Murder on the Rockport Limited.
Our boys have gone full-time at the Bureau of Balance, and their next assignment is a real thorny one: apprehending The Raven, a master thief who’s tapped into the power of a Grand Relic to ransack the city of Goldcliff. Local life-saver Lieutenant Hurley pulls them out of the woods, only to throw them headlong into the world of battle wagon racing, Goldcliff’s favorite high-stakes low-legality sport and The Raven’s chosen battlefield. Will the boys and Hurley be able to reclaim the Relic and pull The Raven back from the brink, or will they get lost in the weeds?
Based on the beloved blockbuster podcast where three brothers and their dad play a tabletop RPG in real time, The Adventure Zone: Petals to the Metal has it all: blossoming new friendships, pining for outlaw lovers, and a rollicking race you can root for!
Buy The Adventure Zone: Petals to the Metal on Amazon.

the Cult of Khrosteia
As Khrosteia is favored as patron goddess of scholars, alchemists, and mages, there are many arcane secrets that are rumored to have been revealed to mortals by Khrosteia. her greatest worshippers are known to brand their bodies with arrays that come from “khrosteia’s gift”. these mages and alchemists are exceptionally powerful. she is also associated with seers, the oracles rely on her moonlight to illuminate the paths in their visions, and it is ill-advised to ask an oracle for a prophecy on a moonless night, as Khrosteia will not deliver her blessing to see through the illusions that the oracle may see.
She loves to watch the madness of others come out.
her followers disguise themselves to blend more seamlessly into their surroundings and can only be told apart by the distinct alchemical arrays over their bodies. For some, the arrays will only appear when using alchemy, with each transmutation a direct offering to Khrosteia and her blessings. Though many tiers of followers exist to serve her, those of the highest tiers were permitted to drink of her blood and gain just a drop of her divine power. These followers are considered to have authority just below Khrosteia herself ( and Qistina, by extension )
in certain moments of extreme displays of power, there is a catalyst that sparks against her abilities as an alchemist. when soul of Qistina and soul of Khrosteia join as one. her body may disappear, but what remains is the very thing found beyond the end of the light. She becomes an EinSof - a god before gods were born. power compressed within a body of blinding light. a eye to give sight to the soul within sits in the middle of what could be a 'face'.
And so, such first tier followers will be distinguished not only by arrays, but by the red eye that crowns their foreheads like a diadem.

Khrosteia has lived since the dawn of time with her fellow gods. One of the First, born far before the creation of earth. By the time of the Cambrian explosion to what is known now as humans, mortal life has existed long enough to lay eyes on her. Unlike her fellow gods, Khrosteia is not shy about making her presence known. Though her godly family has a designated 'most powerful' and therefore 'king', they had been all in agreement not to interact with the Earth or the growing intelligence of Humans. She aided them in exchange for sacrifices. She devoured enemies and gave birth to creatures that could give assistance; rough, lizard-like, hard scales and powerful jaws such as dragons.
Because of her lack of loyalty toward her siblings, the Great EinSof, even The One that Ruled them all, Khrosteia was made an enemy of all that surrounded her. She fell in love with a mortal alchemist in the 800's, and chose to live as a mortal as well ( though still retaining godhood ). When Razmir died, she chose to return to her god-siblings and face their punishments. It was The One that Ruled that finally killed her. The god of the void, Tohu wa-Bohu, or simply, Bohu. It was Bohu's husband Tikkun that chose to allow her soul to be reborn into the race that she loved and tortured so much.
She would be reborn in the 1400's within a mortal body

Significant Creatures of Alchemy / various important names and theories related to her Alchemy and story
Nymph / Undina ( latin ) - Element Water. Sylph / Sylvestris ( latin ) - Element Air Pygmy / Gnomus ( latin ) - Element Earth Salamander / Vulcanus ( latin ) - Element Fire
The Sprites of fiery Termagants in Flame Mount up, and take a Salamander's name. Soft yielding minds to Water glide away, And sip, with Nymphs, their elemental Tea. The graver Prude sinks downward to a Gnome, In search of mischief still on Earth to roam. The light Coquettes in Sylphs aloft repair, And sport and flutter in the fields of Air.
alchemical properties and future creatures and theories based upon the works of Jābir ibn Hayyān and Paracelsus Hohenheim. Jabir's ultimate goal was Takwin, the artificial creation of life in the alchemical laboratory, up to, and including, human life. He analyzed each Aristotelian element in terms of four basic qualities of hotness, coldness, dryness, and moistness. According to Jabir, in each metal two of these qualities were interior and two were exterior. For example, lead was externally cold and dry, while gold was hot and moist.
Thus, Jabir theorized, by rearranging the qualities of one metal, a different metal would result. By this reasoning, the search for the philosopher's stone was introduced to Western alchemy. Jabir developed an elaborate numerology whereby the root letters of a substance's name in Arabic, when treated with various transformations, held correspondences to the element's physical properties.
The atomic theory of corpuscularianism, where all physical bodies possess an inner and outer layer of minute particles or corpuscles, also has its origins in the work of Jabir, while Paracelsus pioneered the use of chemicals and minerals in medicine and wrote, " Many have said of Alchemy, that it is for the making of gold and silver. For me such is not the aim, but to consider only what virtue and power may lie in medicines
there is so much to sift through, so much, but piecing it all together and shifting into a true world for her is going to be fun! her basic principles will be the same, but the beginning of that universe will be different. i cant wait to piece it all together properly

after thinking thoroughly, i think i should have a masterlist of all the Kingdoms around the one qissy is living in so I can keep up with it. and you know... for Lore reasons :> of course, i'll be running it by knight since our lore should be built together and all
for ex. Konigreich des Stolzes is ruled under King Mutigsten. With a flag so deeply green with silver in its border and emblem, boldly displaying the outline of a creature. In the form of an animal called a ‘lion’, with the shape of magnificent wings protruding from its back, its long tail curling around the legs like a snake. The closer you looked at the head of that lion, it seemed as if horns had sprouted to crown its intimidating appearance.
The Kings Knights consist of 6 very skilled and brilliant alchemists, accompanied often by the learning and aspiring squires ( who know little of impressive alchemy, but are quick to learn ) All squires were under the service of the King, either themselves or their family members, and are required to do a 'blood' test to be certain they are 'capable' of performing Alchemy in His Service. With the exception of a single squire by the name of Atlas, who is believed to be the reincarnation of the god of strength - Poros.

important characters and places |
Alfons. Sahar. Frida. Kreszentia. Zahir. Eleonore. Heinrich. Hildebrand. Ludwig. Felix. Charlotte. Bartholomäus. Wolfram. Raffaela. Salim. Baldur. currently living children.
Seraphina. toddler. Wilhelm. 75. overseeing and teaching other relatives of the original Hawthorne children.
The Eldest Living Son of the Hurricane and Belladonna, Wilhelm James Hawthorne. Aged 75. Current speaker and head alchemist for the order of Atropa ― a society of alchemists born from the love of alchemy, working towards a greater answer in life. Protecting one another from the pursuit of the King's Knights. Founded by the firstborn son of the Hurricane and Belladonna ― Alfons, born in early winter of 1510, only a few years after his mothers escape from the King's Castle.
The order is primarily run by members of Qistina and Atlas' lineage and is found in England, but there are few trusted individuals allowed to take refuge from all across the world. Students unrelated to that ancient alchemist or the children who hold titles and power so beyond the normal human being. members are distinct by their violently red eyes and lightly colored hair, along with the curiously drawn line around the wrists ( and transmutation circle upon the palms ). They live to learn. They learn to continue living.
Jack Hawthorne. The youngest living grandchild of Wilhelm, currently a member of Atropa. he's barely 23 and takes after his great-grandmother. He was born in 2000 and his name is Jack Hawthorne. He'll be one of the muses featured alongside Qistina on the new blog, but I still have to color him.
Chamai. is a name from Zimbabwe that means 'belonging to mother', he is nearly 108. very frail but sprightly in his movements. an alchemist with stark white hair and deeply deeply dark skin, white freckles scatter across his face and body like stars across a night sky. And yes, red eyes. His voice is just as frail and shaky, but filled with kindness. Chamai is the first adult to show her genuine concern and compassion. he taught her the basics of Alchemy.
The Atropa manor is vast and filled as if trapped in the edwardian era, despite its continued use since the 1700's. A greater explanation of this manor will come along in due-time, but be for certain: There IS a large painting of Qistina and Atlas with their first-born Alfons in the manor's largest room - the foyer. Many other paintings and photographs of Qistina and Atlas' children and relatives litter the manor as well, with no signs of aging from the ancient couple.

Qistina’s Philosopher’s Stone & Alchemy. Origin & Creation.
A first Note:  As this muse was born in the FMA canon, pieces of her story  are  inspired  by the means and methods of alchemy in that universe. Most are of my own thoughts. If you want to know  which  was taken as inspiration from  FMA,  just ask!  (  though I may make addendums when applicable. )
I.   ―   For a start, let’s go over some important definitions within Alchemy.
Qistina’s repeated mantra of  ‘ Equivalent Exchange ’  is pivotal to the understanding and transmutations of alchemy.
The Law of Conservation of Mass, which states that energy and matter can neither be created from nothing nor destroyed to the point of elemental nonexistence. In other words, to create an object with the mass of one kilogram, at least one kilogram of material is necessary; destroying an object with the mass of one kilogram would reduce it to a set of parts, the sum of which would have the mass of one kilogram.*
The Law of Natural Providence, which states that an object or material made of a particular substance or element can only be transmuted into another object with the same basic makeup and properties of that initial material. In other words, an object or material made mostly of water can only be transmuted into another object with the attributes of water.*
II.   ―   ‘ To obtain, something of equal value must be lost ’.   Attempting to bypass this Law of Equivalent Exchange will result in a  REBOUND.  Too much attempted out of too little, when alchemical forces are thrown out of balance on either side of the equation will fluctuate wildly of their own accord in order to stabilize themselves  -  taking or giving more than what was intended is often unpredictable and catastrophic in ways such as accidental mutation, serious injury, or death.  This is why false philosopher’s stone are incredibly dangerous to use.
Alchemy itself is learned by the understanding of constructing and deconstructing matter, channeling that power through the matrix of a circle - an array. ( or the pressing of array against array ) However, simply knowing  Alchemy  is not enough. One must use a transmutation circle with the appropriate runes in order to transmute, unless the person is a matrix. For example, you can know how to boil water, but you need a fire and a pot to do so.
III.   ―   Each person contains a Gate of god   -  Of Infinity  -  The Ein Sof. The Gate is inscribed with the Tree of Life / the Sefirot, and within that gate is the Truth to all. The TRUTH is the world. it is ALL. it is ONE. it is You.
IV.   ―   Through the ten emanations on the sefirot, the Ein Sof  ( The Infinite )  reveals itself and continuously creates both the physical realm and the chain of higher  metaphysical  realms.   The Ein Sof represents the formless state of the universe before the self-materialization of god. In other words, the Ein Sof is god before he decided to become god as we now know  him. Through this connection to god and infinity, one is able to perform alchemy.
The sefirot etched upon the gate is a complex array of the soul that houses ten emanations. To go within that gate is to have pure knowledge about the world, the universe, alchemy, and everything be forced into the alchemist's mind as the Truth, as god, breaks them down both physically and mentally, to become a part of the flow of the universe. However, through a proper toll is the Alchemist able to escape unharmed with their learned knowledge intact. Closer to godhood, still alive. A painful toll always taken as a meaningful lesson. Never to kill the alchemist, but to make them learn. They have no say in the matter.
When the alchemist returns from the gate, they have seen the Eye of God. Gazed into Infinity. Therefore, they do not need a matrix made of blood, ink, or otherwise. They become that matrix, and do not need an array to transmute  -  they need only press their hands together.
V.   ―   The words inscribed around her array directly from the sefirot  /  not the symbols themselves ( see the Alchemy tab on my carrd for a further explanation of her array ) :
Yesod  -  It is seen as a vehicle allowing movement from one thing or condition to another ( the power of connection ) Da'at  -  In Daʻat, all sefirot exist in their perfected state of infinite sharing. Gevurah  -  " the essence of judgment (DIN) and limitation ", and corresponds to awe and the element of fire Chokmah  - Wisdom.  " the potential of what is ", or, " the potential to be. "
All in One. The Truth is within gods realm. Within that realm is the Ein Sof/Gate. Within that gate is god before it was god. Anywhere, everywhere.
VI.   ―   The earth itself in her universe is a massive organism, and therefore, has a gate of its own. The truth behind that  Ein Sof  is, in simple terms, the god of all. Therefore is indeed possibility to create a true Philosopher’s Stone. By entering the gate of the earth, an Alchemist can essentially obtain any amount of information for however long they wish without physical consequence. However, once an Alchemist has made this choice, their soul will not return to the gods domain to experience everlasting eternity until reincarnation. Their soul will remain within the realms of both their own Gate and the gate of Earth in a state of existence and non-existence.
VII.    ―   The Philosopher’s Stone she transmuted was created by method of accessing Earth’s Gate. Through that endless knowledge. It is made of everything and nothing all at once. You could say it is a concentrated stone with god as its only and every ingredient. Boundless power, eternal life, one’s soul that is transfixed with the Truth’s. Calling upon  ALL  to transmute, ignoring the laws of Equivalent Exchange.
VIII.   ―   The stone is not a ‘stone’. It is only labeled as a stone. It is closer to mercury or mercury sulfide.
ex. explanation of mercury. its appearance, etc. ( hint. it’s one of the reasons I refer to her eyes as Vermillion, as the pigment was historically made of mercury sulfide, and why I’ve included it as a symbol on her array )
IX.   ―   Qistina first drew upon the gate of Earth, using the little bit of knowledge learned to transmute, she could look at it without consequence, though still following equivalent exchange  ( even her transmutation of Basker/ a chimera ) ,  she continued to learn from it up until her flight from her village in the mid 1500′s. When placed upon the pyre in town, to be burned alive as a  ‘ witch ’  ,  she entered a state of both life and death. Because of this, she could enter  within  the gate this time, rather than simply gazing upon it. Taking the power of the earth and her own learned knowledge, she destroyed the town and its people and gave herself her freedom. Through no physical consequence, but, her soul would be married to the soul of that entity. A fact she would not learn until she created the stone itself, and met once more with  ‘god’.
X.   ―   Even in this method, it could be said that her slaughter of the village was indeed a toll paid to create the stone. To live with the guilt. To kill the ones whom she desired acceptance from the most. Sometime after this incident, after being captured by the King of that country for several years, she created a true Philosopher’s Stone. Drank from it. And made her escape once again, killing any and all who happened to be in her way.
XI.   ―  So long as the stone exists, she exists. So long as the earth exists, she exists. Her only respite from life is self destruction. No matter the eradication of her physical form, her soul will be forever tied to the earth itself, thus she will always come back.

―    🜛    ―        The  mystique  of  the  Mountain  Alchemist-Witch  Qistina  Leota  is  well  known  within  a  town  situated  just  north  of  the  Harz  mountains,  in  the  district  of  Harz  in  the  west  of  Saxony-Anhalt,  Germany.  Just  several  miles  within  Quedlinburg's  surrounding  forestry  lay  the  home  of  a  Witch    ―    legend  goes  that  nearly  five  hundred  and  fifty  years  prior,  is  a  quaint  village  hidden  within  those  woods  with  what  would  be  known  as  one  of  the  most  bizarre  mass  murder  mysteries  of  the  world.  On  the  morning  of  late  December  of  1507,  the  King's  Court  made  the  grizzly  discovery  that  the  entirety  of  the  village  had  been  massacred.  Hundreds  dead  and  mutilated,  blood  coating  the  roads  as  if  the  sky  itself  had  been  flayed  open  ―  thus  leading  the  King  to  believe  that  the  deed  had  been  done  by  a  Witch.
Signs  within  the  village  had  led  to  such  a  conclusion  ―  as  a  pyre  had  shown  embers  of  use.  Long  strands  of  purely  white  hair  speckled  with  blood  had  mixed  with  the  tawny  hue  of  the  hay  at  the  pyre's  foot,  along  with  tufts  of  thick  animal  fur    (    a  tuft  which  sits  preserved  in  the  Louvre  with  what  is  believed  to  be  an  original  notebook  from  the  witch  herself  ).  One  side  of  history  believes  that  this  witch  and  her  familiar  were  simply.  .  .  hunted.  Hunted  by  the  people  of  the  village,  for practicing  medicines  far  beyond  even  the  modern  medical  world  ―  while  the  other  side  stands  firm  at  the  evidence  at  hand  ;  a  wicked  and  evil  witch  with  her  massive  familiar  who  slaughtered  the  village  mercilessly.
One  could  claim  to  hear  her,  even  by  the  forest  edge.  Lo  there  do  you  see  her  shining  in  the  daylight?  Gleaming  in  the  moonlight?  The  curtain  of  a  silvery  river  that  wafts  gently  without  breeze?  Her  howls  of  pain,  her  shrieks  of  delight?  The  song  of  her  companion?
For  several  hundred  years,  many  have  ventured  to  the  village  itself    (    stood  to  this  day  exactly  as  the  day  it  was  found,  a  reminder  of  humans  tragedies    )  with  a  memorial  in  sight  to  guide  their  way.  Headstones  which  depict  each  and  every  victim  of  the  alchemist  witch's  powers  sit  made  of  concrete  at  the  base  of  the  pyre  where  the  hay  once  burned,  while  the  name  of  the  only  missing  villager  was  etched  into  a  plaque  on  the  wooden  pyre  itself,  as  originally  written  by  one  of  the  King's  Court  members,  translated  by  historians  for  all  the  world  to  know.
Rise  from  the  Ashes,  O'  Beloved  Witch  Qistina.  Returneth  to  thine  Lord,  Returneth  to  the  Earth  thine  Mercy.  Seek  not  further  Retribution.  Praise  her  name!  Praise  her  name!  1487  ―  1507
Visitors  of  her  woods  have  taken  to  etch  their  own  praises  to  the  witch  within  the  very  stake  that  once  held  her.
'praise  her'  'praise  her'  'praise  her'    'praise  her'    'praise  her'    'praise  her'

@eternasci sent a letter: What would your muse sacrifice to remove a memory that plagues them? If they'd opt to keep the memory, why? What's the memory that came to mind when asked?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
None. There is no memory that she would consider enough of a detriment that she would sacrifice it.
the memory that comes to mind however is one that could be considered as old as humans have hated what they could not understand. A memory that most would have given anything to forget, but for her it was just the opposite. She wanted to remember it, keep it close to her heart, return to it when in times of doubt.
It's the moment of terror she endured from her village. Chased down, roped tightly to a wooden post with bundles of hay at her feet. The smell of smoke and the cheering of angry people as she nearly burned to death ― the memory that pressed her forward toward her decision to leave and dive deeper into what truly brought her joy ― her alchemy. The memory is both a home and a coffin. She is thankful for it, despite it being one of the only things that continues to haunt her dreams.

Muses who can see Souls will be able to tell Qistina is  HUMAN,  but they will  also  see  ‘Something Else.’   If your muse is spiritual ( a spirit, a non-human, a being close to god or away from them like an angel or demon )  they will mentally see the entity of god within her eyes, but unless they are also an alchemist, won’t be able to comprehend or fully understand what it is. If you want to doublecheck with me, feel free! if they are not spiritual, they will still feel uneasy even standing around her or touching her.

Qistina is immortal and cannot be killed by normal means (  even keeping in mind certain supernatural beings/ powerhouse muses )  No matter what is done to her, she can always return eventually. Her body will regenerate in flashes of purple and gold sparks, exactly as she was before, only a tad more excited and ready to see what else your muse is capable of.
The only way to kill her is by destroying the Philosopher’s Stone that’s keeping her alive, with Alchemy. So if your muse is an alchemist and knows where she keeps the Stone, you can definitely kill her.
