The vast desert, while full of dangers, was one of the many places Rtawahist students adventured through; perhaps it was due to geography, but the night skies seemed brighter and clearer than the rain-forest. Yet due to safety reasons, many students chose to come and go in groups while staying within the confines of Aaru Village.
Layla, despite joining said groups initially, oftentimes would end up separating from the pack as soon as they arrive in the village. Many of the students didn't dare journey into the desert's depths due to inexperience, but this was not her first adventure by a long shot. Yet this stranger was definitely no Akademiya student, but what was he doing up so late? Most of the village's residents had normal sleep schedules, unlike several of the Rtawahist academics.

Venturing into the depths of Liyue Harbor was not an act the lone yaksha partakes in often; between his disdain of large crowds and fear of accidentally infecting innocent civilians with his karmic debt, Xiao always had plenty of reasons to decline any invitation. Only for a few occasions did he step foot within city limits, but his stays were not for long β
Granted, neither will be this instance. The circumstances were different, however, for no one had extended a formal summons. No, he's here on his own accord.
Thankfully, it seemed the outside surroundings of the funeral parlor were sparse of humans. As for the interior. . . that'll be a whole different story ( and he hopes he intended target is actually here today ). Upon entering the parlor, there was an inaudible sigh of relief to see no mortals about. But he also didn't see Rex Lapis either, at least not within view.

It takes him a moment to process exactly what the Traveler just said to him. Seriously, the audacity she utters at times makes him question whether or not he wants to remain in her vicinity at any given point.
After what seems like an eternity, Akio simply closes his eyes with a deep, heavy sigh of disappointment. Best to not give her an inch of gratification from his reaction.
"Unfortunately for you, the 'mother figure' you think I have doesn't reside here in Sumeru. You'd have better luck going to Inazuma, and I hope she strikes you down for such an attempt."
He definitely has not changed one bit since the last time they have met, she is not sure if that's comforting or not...
