"MY ORDAINED ALLY-VERSARY!" odin stands tall, his chin held high in an aura of regal confidence. “did you think i would let this fateful day slip from the fetters of my dark memory?”
in a flourish befitting a grand performance, he unsheathes the weapon secured at his side. as the blade emerges, its steel, polished to a flawless mirror-like sheen, reflects the surrounding light with a seemingly ethereal glow. along its surface, symbols reminiscent of ancient runes are intricately etched into the metal, their cryptic meaning shrouded in mystery known only to those brave enough to grasp the hilt and command its power. (or y'know. for those willing to ask).
"on this hallowed day, i do bequeath unto you, morgan, this blade of legendary renown! its power knows no earthly limit, for it cleaves through the very fabric of existence itself. to you, it shall pledge its eternal fealty, a bond forged in the crucible of destiny, a covenant SWORN by the stars! may it serve you faithfully in the noble pursuit of vanquishing your fell enemies, rending their ranks asunder with the FURY of a THOUSAND STARS! i only ask that you give it a name befitting its majesty. a title that echoes through the annals of time like THUNDER in the night."

as is, or at least what felt like tradition now, morgan had to halt his steady pace to classes. at least this time it was a friend, or rather- his destined ally-versary who beckoned his attention. the lad quelled the thumping in his chest before turning to meet owain, face to face (or- honestly chest to face). "uh- did i... miss another class again?" a desperate reach for something that was not the obvious, if only because he wants to hear the other say it. if he doesn't, then there was no harm done, no hopes to be crushed, absolutely no hard feelings at all. after all, it had been a long time.
while there was never a time morgan could recall a birthday being forgotten amongst them, an emptiness he couldn't describe overtook him regardless. something too familiar, a cold hand on his shoulder, and yet... it made no sense? ever since he had awoken and found his mother again, there had been no man left behind, not even him. still, something told him that maybe pondering the why's was not such a good idea. he had nothing to worry about, right? after all, owain was now pulling out a massive sword secured at his hip. giving morgan a good look over the weapon before shoving it in his face, words flowing a mile a minute.
had it been anyone else, the tactician might have misunderstood, but not even several years apart could dull his sense of the man. this was a gift plain and simple, a birthday present, a show of their friendship if there ever was one. the weapon was shiny and extravagant, the kind of thing only owain would give with pride. it's swagger was beyond him, but he accepted the gift with a smile regardless. it was the gift that kept on giving, a sword to use, and a promise that they could relive old times. "thank you, o...odin! i hope you know your coin is wasted on gifts for me, but i'll accept her nonetheless."
there had been nothing to worry about, after all, and really- had there ever been? they never let him down, ever. "you know how bad i am with names, though... unless you want me to name it operation fancy stick, i suggest we name it together. deal?"

could it have been the fatigue of settling back into a routine that lulled the lad to a particularly soft looking bed of roots? or maybe was it the allure of the breeze that swayed the leaves and branches into a lullaby that beckoned him to make himself at home. morgan couldn't say for sure, but whatever it was had already casted it's magic on him, and he was laying comfortably in a grassy embrace. purple hues peered out past the cloth of his hood, intaking the clouds as they passed, almost like counting sheep. in moments, he was drifting off in the middle of nowhere without a care in the world.
it is short lived, however, when the strength of a thousands winds shook him back to life. there was no time for the peaceful flittering of eyelids, or a yawn to escape his beyond tired features. instead, the tactician breathes to life, eyes sharp and hand ready to reach for the tome hiding in his coat. it seemed that the wildlife in these parts was rather dangerous, so.. no more impromptu naps, he lamented. the fire roaring to life in his veins, ready to flow from the tips of his fingers halts when his senses finally hone.
instead of some creature shaking him about between it's teeth, it was instead a variant of owain. blonde locks and eccentric tones gave the man away by a mile, and yet, this was not the owain he remembered. there was a great distance between them, despite how close they were physically, something he couldn't put his fingers on. morgan would take note of that and study further, but in the meantime, he felt his brain turning into mush. "alright, alright! please stop with the shaking, i think i'm going to be sick!"
"what a rude awakening, jeez. if i wasn't so darn happy to see you, i might be telling you off right now." now where was severa to give this goofball a nice smacking when he needed her to... hopefully, she was here too. possibly... lucina too? he tried to hold that hope at bay, instead simply happy to have owain at arms length! those long months of nothingness, of staring into a merciless void... they were finally starting to pay off.
"also wait a minute... ally-versary?" lips upturned easily, joyful laughs spilling out from them without remorse. "i think i might have missed those crazy words you come up with."

sometimes i can still hear his voice.
