You're doing laundry in your apartment, the low thrum of the dryer filling the room when the dizziness hits.

Your vision tilts for a moment as you brace yourself against the wall, dropping the basket in your hands with a loud thud. Closing your eyes against the onslaught of nausea that accompanies the spinning, you press your hand against your eyes as a flash of pain bursts out behind them.

Great. Just what you needed. A migraine in the middle of a productive day.

Swallowing you open your eyes, only managing one wobbly step before you call it quits, sliding down the wall and burying your face in your knees. Tears spring to your eyes as the pain slowly grows, the sound of the dryer and the light in the room definitely not helping, though you’re in too much pain to do much about it.

You don't know how long you're curled up on the floor before the sound of a familiar voice calls your name from the front of your apartment.

You weakly answer back, your voice just loud enough for Damon’s vamp hearing to make out over the dryer before he's entering the room, eyes landing on your figure.

He's kneeling in front of you in an instant, eyes scanning for any injuries, one hand gripping yours while the other runs through your hair in a soothing motion.

Only when he calls your name a bit too loud for your head to handle in the small room does he understand. His hands leave you for a moment, almost leaving you whining in your compromised state for him to come back.

When darkness descends on the now silent room, you lift your head gratefully, hand immediately finding his own as he kneels back down in front of you.

“Can you make it to the bedroom or do you need help this time, sweetheart?” His voice is quiet, careful not to cause you any pain as he studies you, thumb running across your knuckles.

You bite your lip, glancing at him before closing your eyes in defeat and resting your head back on your knees.

“Can you help me…please…?” Your voice is weak and riddled with pain, a sound that makes Damon’s guarded heart twist uncomfortably.

He nods, moving to your side as he drops your hand, slowly slipping his arms behind your back and under your knees, careful of any quick movements to not cause you more pain.

Damon’s movements through the house are slow and easy, your head tucked against his chest to block out the light streaming through the open windows. Curse your productivity today.

Finally, finally, you reach your room, Damon laying you on the bed and using his speed to turn off the lights and close the blinds, bathing you in comforting darkness. He returns after a moment, a cold compress in his hands as he pulls the covers over you. Moving your hair out of your hair as he puts the compress over your eyes, drawing a relieved sigh from your lips. The coolness against your eyes and forehead has the tension in your head and shoulders starting to release already.

He rounds the other side of the bed, climbing under the covers after kicking off his boots, coming to rest against the headboard. You find him blindly, letting him guide your head to his lap, gripping one of his hands while the other runs through your hair.

Just before you drift off you feel Damon press a kiss to your head.

It's a few hours later when you wake up, the compress resting on the bedside table, and the sharp pain now a dull throb. You're curled into Damon’s chest, head resting under his. One hand is still running through your hair, the other is resting on your waist, your legs tangled together comfortably as he holds you closely.

You pull away just a little, long enough to stretch before you retreat back into Damon’s arms, clinging to him like a koala.

The hand in your hair comes to rest on your cheek, gently tilting your face until you're looking at him, his eyes taking in your current state.

“Any better, sweetheart? Or do I need to grab your emergency medicine?” His voice is soft, sleep clinging to it as if he had just woken up himself not long ago.

You shake your head gently. “Not today. Just a dull throb now. Could probably finish my laundry in a bit if I'm lucky.”

Damon rolls his eyes, tutting at you. “You aren't going to do anything for the rest of the evening. Besides, I already took care of it,” he says, his signature smug smile on his face.

You blink at him owlishly, “what? Damon, you didn't have to do that.”

“I didn't have to. But you were in pain. And I can't have Stephen being the only Salvatore brother who takes care of his damsel in distress.” He winks, playfulness dancing in his eyes.

You huff out a small laugh, pushing his chest playfully. “You are something else, Damon Salvatore.”

“Oh trust me, I know.”

“And I love you for it.” You smile, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

“Love you too sweetheart.”

He presses a kiss to your forehead as you close your eyes and rest your head back against his chest, content on staying there for as long as the universe will allow you.

I really love getting in to the deep stuff with gorillaz. I love going deeper into the meaningful albums, like demon days..

If you ever wanted to know.. demon days is a dystopian reflection of the world. a few of the songs really make you think...

i will now explain the meanings of each song.

last living souls - sort of self explainatory, depicts the theme of few survivors of an apocalyptic world..

kids with guns - the real problem of children bringing weapons to school and such.. damon was inspired to make this song because when his daughter was in kindergarten, a boy brought a knife and showed everyone..

o green world - a theme of alienation to the world, like you don't fit in, but there's still a glimmer of hope..

dirty harry - not too sure honestly, but i'd say it's somewhat about children soldiers. this would probably reflect on the character noodle, as she was a child soldier.. definitely some themes of an ongoing war..

feel good inc - a critique of the marketing industry, especially how corporations often prioritize creating commercially appealing, "feel good" products that lack substance, essentially manipulating consumers into mindless 'entertainment'.. including manufactured 'happiness'

el mañana - (it means 'the future'. most people get confused with 'the morning, but that's 'la mañana') pretty much the theme of overarching grief over an empirical threat.

every planet we reach is dead - how humans don't fix large issues like global destruction, instead trying to find a new planet (or anything similar)

november has come - the light of the world has been extinguished. there is nothing anyone can do when the world ends.

all alone - when everything goes wrong, all humans think to do is live in their head, in their dream world.

white light - the need to seek drugs or intoxication. basically, addiction. (kind of how if you do too much of either you probably begin to see, well, white light)

dare - i'm actually not too sure. it's hard to tell, but all i know is that shaun ryder is actually saying 'there', but his thick accent makes it sound like 'dare'.

fire coming out of the monkey's head - i think we all know. how people only want to see the good things in life, and ignore anything that makes things complicated or depressing.

don't get lost in heaven - explores the idea of being so focused on the concept of an ideal afterlife or "heaven" that you don't fully appreciate and live in the present moment, basically missing out on the beauty and experiences of life on Earth.

demon days - i;m also not really sure about this one.

this is kind of a description in itself. just talking about, well, personal 'demons'. it's like a summary of the story that belongs to the album demon days.

i really do enjoy going into the deep end when it comes to this stuff, and I kind of want to do this with other albums...

(this felt like writing an essay for school but in a much more fun way)

Stefan almost smirked at that, pleased to hear that, with all of Damon's many obvious advances, Elena was disgusted by him. His humor was quickly replaced by something like mourning when she asked what he knew about the first Stefan Salvatore. "Other than the fact that he was Damon's actual brother, who also became a vampire. . . Not much." It still left a sour taste in his mouth whenever he acknowledged that the brother he'd always looked up to wasn't actually his brother at all. "Damon's pretty much refused to tell me anything about him, but. . he did say that we're a lot alike."

"I'd rather not let Damon hear me say anything at all." Elena spoke in a tone of disgust, her face matching her voice. She didn't like Damon or how invasive he tended to be. But Stefan... he was so kind and warm and selfless. She loved everything about him and Damon was nothing like the man she was currently lovingly gazing at. And if Stefan wanted to learn more about his family, then Elena would stand by him and help. Stefan could ask her to do anything and she'd do it if it made him feel better - he'd do the same for her. "Is there anything you do know about him?"

okay don't judge us when we couldn't sleep for coughing and ended up dipping into the vampire diaries tv show and it's left us so angry

we mean there's so much bullshit but this is specifically about when Damon casually murders Lexi, Stefan's best friend of 100 years and there's maybe like 30 seconds of grief and het male rage™ and then it's all back to normal

and look, a couple of years ago our best friend Mel died, and we'd been friends for 40 years - and the grief never stops, and it just makes us furious what a throwaway moment they made this century long friendship in the show just because they're all about romance instead

anyway look, this is Mel in the 80s when we first shared a house (we'd already been friends for five years by then) - oh and that's our cat Sklibbage-Glibbage aka Sklibbaggio - and then that's Mel maybe from five years ago when she was running a sort of wild rural retreat space for urban kids and teaching permaculture and generally being kickarse

so yeah, fuck the vampire diaries and hi Mel, you matter, you're both an ache and a glow in our heart - and hey, cherish and water your friendships, dear people out there ☀️🌿
