A huff is given in response. Of course he was asked to team up, with the oldest son of Endeavor no less, talk about a dreaded ordeal. If there was anything he dreaded about hero work, it was that. He worked just fine on his own, why was there a need for it? Too high of a potential for clashing of views and ill-fated Quirk match-ups. It wasn't like he was a combat-focused hero, either.

"That'd be a correct assumption," he muttered, gaze finally bothering to meet the other hero's. "Anyway, mind saying just why you needed me for today? Better be worth my time and suited to my skill set."

To say he'd been stressing over this day would be an understatement. Never in his life had Kai actually wanted to celebrate someone's birthday like this one. But, like with everything else involving her, Kaina was... special. Someone worth getting this worked up over, when he wouldn't spare this kind of energy for anyone else. Well.. perhaps Taishiro was an exception.

Which was why he'd gone to him for help. A rarity. Pride often stopped him from asking for any kind of assistance, hero work and things outside of it included. But, in this case? He was utterly clueless. Kai, to put it simply, wasn't exactly an openly caring person. Standoffish, dry, blunt. To expect him to celebrate something as personal and important as a birthday was like asking a cat to get into a full bathtub. The most he could give would be just a simple card or something, again the other exception being Taishiro. Anything more would be just... awkward.

But Kaina deserved something more heartfelt. After everything she'd been through, she deserved something nice. And what better day to give her that than her birthday.

So, after Taishiro agreed to get everything set up and prepare something for them, he'd contacted her, saying he needed to meet her at the Fat Gum Agency...

So, when she'd arrived, he'd tried to keep the awkward at bay as he greeted her with, "Sorry to call so late, I just needed your opinion on something."
