          dare he scoff in the presence of a lady ?? why, yes, when it was her there was no such restraint as a lady like her deserved none—and do not misunderstand the prince, for he meant no disrespect in it. on the contrary—there was no greater way that he knew to express it. none that was any less obvious than a devious curl of his lips, both amused and self-depreciating in nature, leaving him open for her to pick apart. to, hopefully, as she always did, understand.

          ❛ lady laei—I am not so foolish as to allow those beneath me, be it in station or character, to deprive me of spirits so essential to my own self preservation. ❜

          and hard won such a battle would be if any attempted it. for the river of his soul raged on like unbidden flames, consuming all that stood in his path—his warpath.
