okay but can well take a moment to remember the fact that berkut is loved and adored by the rigelian people. that can only mean one thing, one that I’ve always kept consistent, that he is good to his people and loves them as a whole ( even if he shows disdain towards the commonfolk ). 

can we also consider the fact that rinea, the kindest woman in rigel, is in love with him and has agreed to be his wedded wife. she loves berkut for who he is, and likely would not if he was not kind, as shown in their memory prism. she is slowly making him into a better person, and likely would’ve been successful if the events of shadows of valentia had never come to pass. without the influence of his parents and just rudolf...I think he would’ve been more openly kind, more okay mentally. but his parents forcing the ideals of the rigelian people upon him made him into who he was, a literal embodiement of their beliefs. he demonstrates power. 

he believes power, though, is not given, but taken, and if you’re unworthy of it how did you get it in the first place ?? he is not as tough as he forces people to see. he is a lot kinder than he lets one, but that kindness is reserved for certain people and buried so, so deeply within him. and if people can be enamored with him without seeing that secret side of him then he really couldn’t have been that bad.

me: I gotta read 14 chapters of life of pi bc I procrastinated me: debates going back on my goro blog and reevaluating my portrayal of him because sometimes I feel like it was slightly off and I miss him & holds three different conversations

I was thinking bc I was writing for his persona 5 verse and---berkut does believe in honor and justice. he wouldn’t strike down an enemy who was defenseless unless it was life or death for all involved. rinea is, of course, another story. he’d do anything to keep her safe. he does fight for sport, as shown with alm, and is intrigued by the bloody nature of war. he’s a teenager, it makes sense. but his uncle has instilled some form of honor within him. while he does not care for peasants / cannot see eye to eye with them, he will fight for them if it is the right thing to do. he is not that much of a snooty noble, but a snooty noble nonetheless.

things I want: berkut to reach a point in a relationship with a commoner where he affectionately calls them a peasant instead of antagonistically calling them a peasant. he’s the type to call someone a fool or idiot in an affectionate manner, after all. he’s just never been able to let loose and do so. he doesn’t really have close good friends in canon.
