As mayor the holidays were always performative, rather nauseating because of how much he was surrounded by happy families, something he didn't have. Now, with Danny at his side, Vlad gets to experience holiday joy. It's refreshing for him, feels like it's the first time every single year and it's been many a year since Danny has been by his side.
