When she is unexpectedly visited by the fairy Lorra, she gains the ability to turn into a Diva, mostly to prove to her brother that she doesn't need to be coddled. She transforms using a red Mini-Disc, wields a sword, and her symbol is the Devanagari letter "त" (ta), which represents the Fire element.

Long Ya Yue Zheng / Diva Komodo

The heir to the Yue Zheng corporation. Like his sister, he is straightforward but pays attention to important details and is more responsible. However, he can crack when dealing with too many issues and is overly protective of Ling. He later becomes co-leader of the group with her. Like Ling, he transforms using a green Mini-Disc, uses twin staves, and his symbol is the Devanagari letter "ट" (ṭa), which represents the Wood element.

Because of her poor health, she cannot run very far without collapsing, but as a Diva she has the power to teleport short distances away. She transforms using a yellow Mini-Disc, uses a harp, and her symbol is the Devanagari letter "क" (ka), which represents the Earth element.

Lorra Zhan Yin / Diva Mesmeri

A human-like fairy from the fairy dimension, she was sent to the human world to create more Divas. She was originally sent on this mission by the goddess Lumi, who sealed Lorra's own Diva powers away as punishment for a mistake she made years ago, only giving them back if she was successful in her mission. However, when she was set to leave, Lumi unexpectedly had her own powers sealed by an unknown force, now needing Divas to find this menace. Lorra, while normally quiet and polite, she can become very bossy and controlling when dealing with her teammates. With the help of a "creation energy stone", she regains her powers by using it to transform. Her weapon is a rail gun and her symbol is a diamond shape.

When you want to phonetically transcribe a name into devanagari (hindi) and it has a schwa at the end, that, in a Hindi word would be deleted, how do you write that?

For example the name Jette in German is pronounced /jætə/ or something close to it. If you wereto write as "यैत्त" it would be pronounced as /jæt/ (not sure if that's the correct vowel but it's not about the middle vowel soit doesn't really matter)

However यैत्ता and यैत्ते also don't truly represent the correct vowel.

Tldr: how do you undelet a /ə/ for phonetically transcribing names?

Phonetically transcribing European, American, or other names in Devanagari is interesting and challenging. My own name doesn't fit well in English-speaking or Hindi-speaking contexts, so I understand the struggle.

The best starting point is to use phonetic equivalents for consonants and vowels in Devanagari. Knowing how to pronounce a name is essential for accurate typing. This can be tricky if we've only seen the name written and never heard it spoken (like how I mistyped Lata Mangeshkar's name as लटा before learning लता means vine).

Let's look at transcribing foreign names focusing especially on the final vowels. Here are my observations from diving into Hindi Wikipedia:

Names ending in a

The final a-sound, even if short, is written as आ. Without it, the word would end in the consonant before the final 'a' and there's no mātrā (vowel diacritic) for अ.

A side note about the mid-vowels - the e-sound may be visible (as in एंजेलिना) or disappear (as in मर्केल there is only one visible e-sound). How to know? If it is a known name, try googling. With 'एंजेला मेर्केल' there are only 19 results in Google, and with 'एंजेला मर्केल' over 37 000).

Names ending in e

When the e is pronounced as [e], the name ends in ए.

Here we can see how pronunciation is the key, Descartes follows the original French pronunciation [dekaʁt]. Knowles /noʊlz/ is written without the silent k - but the silent e remains visible for some reason probably only known to native Hindi speakers.

Where the e is silent at the end, leave it out.

Here ऐ is used to approximate the American pronunciation of a-sound in डैनियल - if it was a German name with 'a' pronounced like [a], it would be written as डनियल. Where does the e disappear? Don't ask me.

Where ie-combination is pronounced as [i], use ई.

Which brings us to names ending in i

When the name ends in i or ey pronounced as [i], use ई.

Finally, names endingin in o

When the name ends in [o], use ओ.

Orlando Bloom ऑरलैंडो ब्लूम Pablo Picasso पाब्लो पिकासो

पिकासो reflects the original Spanish pronunciation [ˈpa.β̞lo piˈka.so] with primary stress on the first syllable of Pablo and the middle syllable of Picasso indicated by the long आ-sound.

For names ending in -io, use इयो

Leonardo DiCaprio - लियोनार्डो डिकैप्रियो Silvio Berlusconi - सिल्वियो बर्लुस्कोनी Antonio Banderas - एंटोनियो बैंडेरास

On Antonio Banderas' Wikipedia page his name changes between the title and the first sentence. अंतोनियो बान्देरस is faithful to Spanish pronunciation, and एंटोनियो बैंडेराज़ to the American pronunciation. This shows that transcribing foreign names is an art, not a science. Devanagari is rich in sounds, but with foreign names, we can only aim to get as close as possible to the original pronunciation to ensure clarity.

Final notes on consonants

In these examples, we see that retroflex consonants (ट, ड) are commonly used for foreign names. That doesn't mean the names should be pronounced with an 'Indian accent'. Retroflex sounds are chosen because dental consonants (द, त) are pronounced with the tongue softly touching the teeth, which is rare in Germanic languages. Retroflex sounds are much more flexible and suit foreign names better most of the time.
