it's   finally   derek’s   turn   to   be   an   oblivious   little   shit.   he   thinks   spencer   is   taking   him   out   to   these   fancy   restaurants   to   get   some   practice   to   ask   out   someone   else   [   because   he’s   so   used   to   being   his   wingman   ]   until   one   day   spencer’s   like   soo   are   we   going   back   to   my   place   or?

when   they   start   dating   he   calls   him   everything   but   pretty   boy.   no   need   to   be   basic   anymore   and   he   can   get   as   creative   and   dirty   as   he   wants   ..

i   think   it   would   take   them   a   while   to   get   together,   probably   because   of   everything   the   both   of   them   have   been   through.   they   deserve   to   spend   time   with   each   other   outside   of   work   and   when   they   are   not   in   imminent   danger.   

derek’s   gifts   consist   of   watches   or   silly   things   he   sees   in   antique   shops   penelope   has   dragged   him   to.   he’s   got   him   raggedy   dolls,   vintage   postcards,   some   comics,   and   maybe   a   used   carl   sagan   book.   tried   to   get   him   an   iphone   once   and   it   did   not   work   out   well   so   he   ended   up   giving   it   to   penelope

movie   nights   do   not   go   well   because   they   are   arguing   about   what   to   watch   for   at   least   an   hour   until   they   end   up   on   some   star   trek   episode   they   both   fall   asleep   to.

derek   tries.   by   god   he   tries   to   get   him   to   listen   to   some   modern   music   but   spencer   heard   a   synthesizer   and   had   a   visceral   reaction.   he   tried   making   him   a   mixtape   but   he’s   not   entirely   sure   if   he’s   listened   to   it   

sends   him   texts   with   emojis   and   emoticons   and   spencer   is   just:   How   Are   You   Doing   That   Right   Now?   he   sends   him   selfies   [   even   shirtless   ]   ones   and   always   gets   a   shaky   /   goofy   one   in   return.

they   both   have   a   very   hard   time   saying   i   love   you   to   each   other,   but   they   don’t   need   to   say   it   to   know   <3

after   maeve,   morgan   definitely   took   reid   to   look   at   some   pets   he   could   adopt   and   now   they   have   a   gray   tabby   named   fernando.   he’s   the   light   of   their   life.

he   tries   to   involve   himself   in   his   interests   as   much   as   he   can   but   that   shit   can   be   so   boring.   he   tried   to   read   that   quantum   physics   book   but   ended   up   with   a   headache.   he’s   sat   through   some   doctor   who   episodes.   he’s   accompanied   spencer   and   penelope   to   a   comic   con   which   begged   for   lots   of   drinking   afterwards.   its   worth   it   cuz   at   the   end   of   the   day   he   sees   that   rare   spencer   reid   smile   !

have   to   comfort   each   other   after   one   of   them   wakes   up   from   a   nightmare

they   work   out   together   and   get   lunch   afterwards   

they’ve   gotten   sick   together   at   the   same   time   and   it   was   so   bad.   they   have   never   argued   more.   they   ended   up   losing   their   voices   and   having   to   share   a   couch   to   sleep.

they   probably   had   the   weirdest   conversation   standing   outside   of   gideon’s   door   which   prompted   them   to   sit   on   opposite   sides   of   his   office   like   they’re   in   detention.   tried   avoiding   each   other   at   all   costs   but   they’re   stupid.   they   can’t.

trying   to   one   up   the   other   but   they   just   end   up   being   impressed   by   what   they   know   so   it   just   goes   from   banter   to   a   long   conversation   about   physics.   insert   confused   derek   morgan   face   here.

earlier   on   she   tried   giving   him   pointers   on   how   to   throw   a   punch   or   what   defensive   position   to   hold   but   they   ended   up   tripping   over   each   other.   proceeded   to   avoid   the   other   for   a   good   week   or   two   

both   have   fucked   up   sleeping   schedules   so   they’re   probably   in   each   other’s   hotel   rooms   playing   chess,   reading,   talking   about   something   obscure,   or   watching   late   night   telenovelas.   they   fall   asleep   next   to   each   other.

went   from   convincing   everyone   they   hate   each   other   to   old   married   couple.   the   older   they   get   the   more   they   are   used   to   the   other’s   shenanigans.   at   one   point   they   don’t   even   need   to   communicate   using   words,   they   have   their   shared   looks

she’s   definitely   thrown   a   punch   after   someone   messed   with   him   and   he   had   to   hold   the   ice   pack   against   her   face   while   scolding   her   about   how   careless   she   had   been

both   have   insane   hero   complexes   so   everytime   one   of   them   walks   into   a   situation   without   a   gun   or   vest   they’re   screaming   at   the   other.   it   comes   with   the   abandonment   issues

while   juno’s   getting   her   master’s   he’s   definitely   helping   her   study   and   proofreading   every   single   draft   she’s   scribbled   up.   there   are   mugs   of   coffee   everywhere   

i   think   she   is   quite   literally   the   only   person   who   takes   him   up   on   his   offers   to   go   to   these   local   events   whether   it   be   for   the   holidays   or   the   weekend.   if   anyone   else   tries   to   join   it   starts   getting   weird

she’s   made   him   watch   and   read   pride   and   prejudice   so   many   times   but   he   hasn’t   complained   once.   doesn’t   know   he   has   their   halloween   costumes   picked   out   already

they   communicate   by   snail   mail.   they   are   so   fucking   annoying   about   it.   talking   like   they   didn’t   see   each   other   just   two   seconds   ago

both   fans   of   classical   music   so   you   know   they’re   buying   tickets   to   concerts   and   showing   up   in   ridiculously   fancy   attire.   

she   took   him   to   meet   her   grandmother   one   time   and   she   would   not   let   them   leave.   she   loved   spencer   so   bad   she   insisted   he   stay   and   they   knit   together.   she   calls   him   more   than   she   calls   maeve

has   printed   every   article   he’s   quoted   in,   every   dissertation   he’s   written,   any   piece   that’s   been   written   about   him   and   tucked   it   into   the   narrative   of   john   smith.

they   watched   doctor   who   once   and   she’s   had   nightmares   ever   since.   they   didn’t   get   past   the   tenth   doctor.   she   refuses   to   sit   through   another   marathon   with   him   but   when   she   sees   a   phone   booth,   even   if   it’s   not   a   police   box,   she   buys   it   for   him   anyway

she   encourages   his   sweet   tooth   because   they   are   always   trying   out   new   pastry   places   and   buying   dessert   after   a   meal.   somebody   needs   to   hide   the   cookie   jar   from   both   of   them.

she   insists   he   get   his   medical   degree   like   it   isn’t   enough   he   has   three   phds   and   counting.   she   just   wants   to   work   with   her   bf   in   one   place.

tried   convincing   him   to   teach   her   another   language   but   he   was   going   too   fast   and   it   was   a   mess.   sometimes   spencer   starts   talking   in   another   language   over   the   phone   if   he’s   really   frustrated   with   her   and   she   just   has   to   hang   up

started   knitting   again   after   meeting   him   and   one   of   her   first   gifts   to   him   is   this   ugly,   poorly   made   scarf   that   he   wears.   only   around   her   though.   he’s   knitted   her   mittens   that   she   wears   all   the   time   even   around   the   apartment

she   is   not   good   at   card   games   at   all   but   they   have   a   good   time   playing   uno   together   !!

she’s   made   him   promise   they   see   each   other   at   least   once   a   week,   especially   after   everything   they’ve   been   through.   no   one   is   allowed   to   talk   about   work.
