Bitcoin Price Analysis

There was an increase in selling pressure on bitcoin price after it failed to clear the $3,850 level against the US Dollar. The BTC/USD pair started a downside move and broke the $3,800 and $3,700 support levels. It even broke the $3,600 level and traded as low as $3,563. There could be a short term correction from $3,563, but the price is trading well below the 100 hourly simple moving average.

An initial resistance is near the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the last decline from the $3,855 high to $3,563 low. Moreover, yesterday’s highlighted major bearish trend line is intact with resistance at $3,720 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. Finally, the 50% Fib retracement level of the last decline from the $3,855 high to $3,563 low is near the trend line. Therefore, if there is an upside correction, the price is likely to struggle near $3,720 and $3,800. A proper break above the trend line and the $3,800 resistance is needed for a decent upward move. If not, the price may continue to decline and it may even break the $3,500 support in the near term.

Looking at the chart, bitcoin price seems to be trading with a bearish angle below $3,720 and there are chances of more losses.

Looking at the technical indicators:

Hourly MACD – The MACD for BTC/USD is gaining pace in the bearish zone.

Hourly RSI (Relative Strength Index) – The RSI is moving with a bearish angle below the 40 level.

Major Support Level – $3,500

Major Resistance Level – $3,720

Биржа OKEx произведет делистинг фьючерсов на Bitcoin Gold в конце месяца/ биткойн-обмен,торговля биткойн маржи,bitseven,биткойн-обмен

Криптовалютная биржа OKEx приняла решение провести делистинг всех фьючерсных контрактов на Bitcoin Gold (BTG) из-за «недостаточной ликвидности». Ожидается, что недельные, двухнедельные и квартальные контракты на BTG будут рассчитаны 25 января в 11:00 МСК в соответствии с ценой, зафиксированной в индексе BTG/USD на OKEx за час до этого. Все данные о торгах по BTG-фьючерсам будут удалены 30 января, в связи с чем биржа рекомендует пользователям, скачать эту информацию заранее. Согласно данным CoinMarketCap, объем торгов BTG за последние сутки составил $3,6 млн. В настоящий момент Bitcoin Gold с капитализацией в $194,1 млн занимает в рейтинге CMC 27 место. Напомним, в сентябре 2018 года биржа Bittrex также сняла с торгов Bitcoin Gold после разногласий из-за компенсации за потери от майской атаки 51%, в ходе которой с нескольких бирж было похищено 388 000 BTG (около $18 млн на тот момент) - bitseven.com.

Now, one widely used technical indicator is signaling that Bitcoin could be reaching an inflection point that will lead to a massive price movement.

Bitcoin on the Brink of a Large Move A recent report from Bloomberg details that Bitcoin is close to making a large price move based on the widely used GTI VERA Bands Indicator, which uses trend data over any time frame to give investors insight into which direction an asset is poised to move. This indicator also claims that Bitcoin is currently in its longest buying trend since September.

This indicator is now seeing a drastic narrowing of its upper and lower bands, which typically precedes a large price swing. This, coupled with the recent buying trend that Bitcoin has been in, may signal that it will see a significant increase in buying volume in the near future.

Another widely used indicator, called the Directional Movement Index (DMI), also recently flashed a buy signal for Bitcoin, which is based on the strength and momentum of buying and selling trends.

The DMI separates price movements into either a positive or negative directional movement category, which is used by traders to quantify the strength of a particular trend. Earlier this week, the DMI flipped positive for Bitcoin for the first time in several months, signaling that Bitcoin’s “very strong” selling pressure had largely subsided, and buying volume is gradually increasing.

What Analysts Think About Bitcoin’s Price Action Only time will tell as to whether or not these indicators are correct in assuming that Bitcoin’s price will soon rise, and analysts have mixed opinions regarding this data.

While speaking to Bloomberg about the DMI flipping positive, Mati Greenspan, senior market analyst at eToro, said that in order for a truly bullish case to be made for Bitcoin, it needs to decisively surge above $5,000.

“In technical analysis this makes these levels very strong. But I think only once we see a strong break above 5,000, 6,000, if we get above 7,500, that’s when people start to turn really bullish,” Greenspan noted.

Travis Sling, the founder of Ikigai, a cryptocurrency hedge fund, remains cautious regarding any bullish price indicators for the cryptocurrency markets, noting that he believes that the markets will still see lower lows in the future before moving much higher.

“It’s unlikely that the bottom is in for Bitcoin. I am certainly willing to change my mind, but the preponderance of evidence leads us to believe that we’ll see more lows before we head higher.”
