А вы знали, откуда в Клубе Весёлых Человечков взялся мастер Самоделкин? Я вот с самого детства думал, что из книжки Юрия Дружкова "Приключения Карандаша и Самоделкина". Оказалось, нет.

Про героя грузинских мультиков Вахтанга Бахтадзе я тоже знал с детства, хотя по телевизору почему-то показывали только один из них, "Самоделкин под водой". Остальные ("Приключения Самоделкина", "Самоделкин спортсмен", "Самоделкин в космосе" и т.д.) удалось увидеть уже в существенно более позднем возрасте. Этот Самоделкин - несомненный грузин. И грузинские танцы танцует.

И летает в своей ракете над Тбилиси.

Только вот что этот Самоделкин в грузинской шапочке имеет отношение к Самоделкину из "Весёлых картинок", я понятия не имел. А оказывается, имеет самое прямое. Самоделкина изначально придумала грузинская журналистка Нина Бенашвили, которая была автором сценария всех грузинских мультиков про сабжа. Первый мультфильм вышел в 1957 году. И в Клуб Весёлых Человечков он попал тоже известно когда, в июне 1958 года. Вероятно, редакции нужен был персонаж, связанный с техникой, ну они и пригласили Нину Бенашвили. Которая даже написала специальный сценарий для комикса, в котором Самоделкина приняли в элитный клуб.

Шапочки-сванури, правда, у него уже не было, поскольку тут его рисовал другой художник в Москве так никто не ходит.

Ну а через несколько лет член редколлегии "Весёлых картинок" Юрий Дружков написал про него с Карандашом свою книгу.

ЗЫ: Кстати, по-грузински Самоделкина зовут ხელმარჯვე ოსტატი, то есть, Хэлмарджве Остати, то есть, "Умелый Мастер".

there's this one New Year-themed installment in the Pencil & Screwbolt book series where they're like, helping local Christmas/New Year's magicians from all around the world to deliver children's gifts in span of one night, and at one point the gang visits Santa Claus' residence in the North Pole, where the big red man himself starts explaining stuff like how he operates his sleigh, each of his reindeer's quirks and how they work, etc. And I just kinda imagined how well would Pen bond with Rudolph, of all reindeer, on the basis of their magical noses lol. So this mental image grew into this lil doodle!

Rudolph's design here has been pretty much inspired by that one GoodTimes pictures film bc I stupidly have a soft spot for it after watching it religiously in childhood ajjhkjhsj

i got so excited with this one, stayed up late just to finish this ahkjahj sNOWBALL FIGHTS!!!!! I was going for a slightly vintage-card-look here < 33 originally planned to have just one panel, but the second one just kinda,,,, appeared by itself lol
