While (not so successfully) rearranging things on the book shelves, trying to somehow find room for the new books that have been gathering just about everywhere during the last year or so, I thought I’d share the artwork on the cover of this book.

Whenever I see it, I imagine there’s some snobbish nobleman or even enemy envoy in front of these Cossacks, trying very hard to show off, and the Cossack in the foreground just... isn’t impressed.

The picture is part of a painting by Карпо Трохименко (Karpo Trokhymenko). I didn’t find it online, but the title should be simply “Козаки”, because the book gives it as “Les cosaques” in French.
