harley is the sort of person who will act like she's on death's door when she has a sniffle , dramatically delivering her goodbyes and expecting your muse to wait on her hand and foot , but when she's seriously injured and in trouble , she'll try to downplay it and wave it off with a joke .

𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐘.      →      𝗁𝖺𝗋𝗅𝖾𝗒  𝗊𝗎𝗂𝗇𝗇  &  𝗁𝖾𝗋  𝗋𝖾𝗅𝖺𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇𝗌𝗁𝗂𝗉  𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁  𝗁𝖾𝗋  𝗁𝗒𝖾𝗇𝖺𝗌  .

         bud  and  lou    ,    named  for  the  popular  comedy  duo  composed  of  bud  abbott  and  lou  costello    ,    are  a  pair  of  spotted  hyenas  owned  by  harley  quinn  .    affectionately  dubbed  ’  the  babies  ’    ,    bud  and  lou  are  the  apple  of  harley’s  eye  and  the  feeling  is  mutual  .    both  hyenas  are  extremely  loyal  to  their  owner    ,    often  assisting  her  in  her  schemes  and  defending  her  wherever  necessary  .    similarly    ,    they  are  both  well  -  trained  and  will  obey  harley’s  orders  without  any  trouble    ;    often  she  can  command  them  to  attack  with  merely  a  whistle  or  a  simple  call  of  their  names  .    while  affectionate  towards  their  master    ,      they  may  be  more  wary  of  others  if  a  rapport  has  not  been  built    ,    though  largely  they  will  not  be  threatening  or  antagonistic  towards  anyone  who  has  harley’s  seal  of  approval  .    

         various  attempts  have  been  made  to  steal  bud  and  lou  over  the  years    ,    either  by  greedy  criminals  looking  to  make  a  pretty  penny  selling  them  as  exotic  animals  or  by  those  who  hold  a  grudge  against  harley  ,  the  latter  knowing  that  harming  the  hyenas  is  a  surefire  way  to  hit  her  where  it  hurts  .    it  goes  without  saying  but  harley  does  not  take  kindly  to  anyone  attempting  to  steal  or  hurt  her  babies    —      doing  so  is  inadvisable  unless  you  have  a  death  wish  .

          harley’s  preferred  fighting  style  is  best  described  as  something  of  a  spectacle  .    it’s  flashy   ,   it’s  skillful  and  it’s  very  distinctly  harley  .     whilst  she  is  stronger  than  the  average  woman   ,   i  think  it’s  fair  to  say  that  a  lot  of  the  opponents  she  goes  up  against  are  of  equal  or  greater  strength      —      what  she  has  over  them  though  is  speed   ,   agility  and  balance   ,   so  these  are  the  skills  she  focuses  on  .     as  a  trained  gymnast   ,   she  takes  full  advantage  of  her  acrobatic  abilities   ,   peppering  her  combat  with  elaborate  flips   ,   jumps  and  spins      —      i  always  say  that  watching  her  fight  is  like  having  a  front  row  seat  to  the  world’s  most  violent  cirque  du  soleil  performance  .  

          but  it’s  not  just  hand  -  to  -  hand  you  need  to  worry  about  with  harley   ,   you’ve  also  got  her  vast  arsenal  of  weaponry  to  contend  with  .     her  most  favoured  weapon  is  definitely  her  trusty  mallet   ,   though  she  often  will  carry  a  sidearm  too   ,   most  frequently  a  modified  pop  gun      —      but  she  certainly  knows  her  way  around  all  kinds  of  firearms   ,   from  pistols  and  machine  guns  to  bazookas  and  grenade  launchers  .     other  weapons  she  may  carry  include  baseball  bats   ,   exploding   jack  -  in  -  the  -  boxes   ,   laughing  gas  canisters   and  cupcake  grenades  .     she’s  nothing  if  not  prepared  .

          now   ,   as  someone  whose  actions  are  more  often  than  not  driven  by  her  emotions   ,   harley’s  mood  can  and  will  have  an  effect  on  her  fighting  style  .    when  she’s  her  usual  bubbly  self   ,   she’ll  taunt  her  opponent  with  jokes   ,   quips   and  witty  banter   ,   grinning  from  ear  to  ear  as  she  takes  them  down  .    when  she’s  pissed  however   ,   she  can  be  brutal  .     while  i  don’t  pull  a  whole  lot  from  the  dceu   ,   i  think  the  suicide  squad   (  2021  )   demonstrated  this  well      —      when  harley  is  out  for  blood   ,   she’s  ruthless   ,   killing  her  opponents  violently  and  efficiently  .
