↪ otherwise read as: riddle keeps you closest to his heart, above all.

[𖤐] back at it again w ignoring my reqs and writing for twst again. erm. i have no excuse. just take it okay. XOXO !!

♡ as you might have guessed it, riddle is the literal definition of a morning person. there isn't exactly a rule stating anything about when one should be waking up, but he read once in a history book that the queen of hearts was partial to those who woke up early, so he trained himself to do so. after all, he is housewarden of heartslabyul, so it would not do for him to act in a way that the queen of hearts would disapprove of.

♡ despite this fact, riddle will not go to any lengths to ever waken you early in the morning. he won't admit it aloud, but he finds much enjoyment in just watching you sleep, (he knows that if this ever got out that cater would never leave him alone about it, so he keeps it quite to himself).

♡ he will almost always wake up before you, but he will spend around thirty minutes still in bed, just watching you. his eyes will trace over your peaceful face, wondering how he got so lucky as to be with someone as amazing as you. in moments like these, he feels truly grateful that you have stuck by his side, even at his lowest points. he's ashamed of the way he's acted in the past, but your constant and steady presence reminds him of the good things in his life, and he will continue to strive to be worthy of you.

♡ there are rare times when you'll wake up during this thirty minute period, which makes him increasingly flustered; you caught him staring. his cheeks will flush red, the color spreading all the way to his ears and threatening to blend into the color of his hair. no matter how long the two of you are dating, he will always act like this, feeling embarrassed that you saw him staring at you in an improper manner.

"mm...mornin' riddle..." "geh?! g-goodmorning..."

♡ (he will never mention it, but he actually wakes up thirty minutes earlier than he used to just so that he can savor being with you just a little while longer).

♡ because of his strict routine, riddle will promptly get out of bed after his thirty minutes of admiring you has passed; it wouldn't do for the housewarden of heartslabyul to be off schedule after all. he'll let you stay in bed for a while longer, though he will comment occasionally that you should probably start to get ready soon so that you aren't rushing later on, (you always ignore his warnings).

♡ he gets ready fairly quickly; changing out of his pajamas and into uniform is a practiced routine that he has perfected, right down to the last tug on his tie as he finished the knot. after this, he will take a few moments to gently wake you up, saying that if you wake up any later the two of you will be late for class. if it was anybody else, he would be a lot harsher, but with you, the most he will do is shake you lightly to try and wake you.

♡ while you're getting ready for the day, riddle will usually prepare tea for the two of you, as well as serving up the most recent pastry in the kitchen, courtesy of trey. he knows your taste in tea now, so he makes it perfectly every time, adding just the right amount of sugar cubes, (what kind of boyfriend would he be if he didn't know his heart's preferences in tea?).

♡ he'll always carry them out to the heartslabyul garden for the two of you to enjoy, carefully setting everything up so that you wouldn't need to get up to get anything extra. it's usually when he's done with this that you will come rushing out of the dorm, your fingers fumbling with your tie as you make your way over to him.

"riddle! i'm sorry; i was just so tired from studying last night that i might have slept in a teensy bit longer than i should have..." "as long as you make it on time, it is not a matter of concern, my dear. come, take a seat."

♡ there will always be a small smile on his face as he watches you enjoy the things he's prepared; his heart feels warm at seeing you gush about trey's latest pastry and how does he get it to be so fluffy! do you think he would give me the recipe if i asked him?

♡ this daily routine that the two of you have is the highlight of his morning; he loves to be able to take a little bit of time out of your hectic school schedules and just unwind for a bit. he's more than happy to listen to whatever you want to talk about, and will occasionally offer his input on certain topics. when talking about school and classes, he always is sure to remind you that you can come to him if you are having any troubles.

♡ he also especially treasures this time with you because after school is just far too busy to spend any good quality time you. to his chagrin, his housewarden duties and equestrian club also take up much of his time, with club meetings usually going for at least an hour and a half, and housewarden meetings taking yet another hour. on top of that, there is also much homework to be done in the evening, as well as the tutoring sessions he does with his heartslabyul peers, (he truly wants them to succeed, and he will do as much as is necessary to help them with what they are struggling with).

♡ while there are weekends, riddle can't help but feel a bit guilty at how busy he is. he wishes he could make more time for you; it's why he initially suggested that the two of you have this little sit down in the morning before school. more often than not, the two of you will also take a walk through the rose garden, your hands clasped together, (it definitely helps that it's private and early in the morning, since riddle is very shy with pda, especially in front of his heartslabyul peers).

♡ ever the gentlemen, riddle will also walk you to your first class; in fact, he's insistent on it.

"y'know riddle, you really don't have to come with...i feel so bad! your class is all the way on the other side of the school!" "nonsense, of course i will accompany you. i would not be upholding rule #723 if i did not." "what's rule number #723?" "one must always accompany their partner to their destination before parting ways."

♡ (he also just wants to know in his mind that you arrived to class okay, safe from any sort of troubles that could find you on the way. he shudders to think about all the trouble that's found you in your short time in twisted wonderland. with a capable mage like him at your side, there was no way anything would happen to you. also he wants to make sure floyd doesn't pop out from anywhere and bother you).

♡ before he leaves for his own class, riddle will always take your hand into his and press a momentary kiss against your knuckles, bidding you farewell and wishing you luck in your classes for the day. despite his formal way of speaking and acting, you knew it was just because he was too embarrassed to do anything else, (he would probably explode if you tried to kiss him on the lips in public).

♡ he will think of you all day, waiting for the moment he can have you in his arms again!

[𖤐] hey twst nation .... how r we 2day !! my first work ever for twst! ive just been having too much ace brainrot okay, i needed to write this. i promise i'll get back on the tokyo revengers + nanbaka grind and finish all the reqs but JUST LET ME HAVE THIS OKAY. anyways. fellow ace luvers PLS ENJOY !! xoxoxo

♡ i think out of all the twisted wonderland boys, ace is the one who is the most chaotic to wake up with in the morning. he's not very much of a morning person, but the consistent wake up call at heartslabyul has transformed him into a morning person, (quite against his will).

♡ before his antics though, obviously, the first thing he will do is admire your sleeping figure beside him, treasuring all the details of your face while you rest. he swears, it's not in a creepy way! he just gets a fuzzy feeling in his chest when he looks at you, and this is the only time he can unabashedly stare at you without judgement from anyone, (deuce already gets on his case for being so flirty with you, so he doesn't need anymore of that).

♡ however, once he's finished admiring you, he will immediately try to wake you up. he'll start off small, whispering your name in your ear, then slowly increasing his voice in volume. if that doesn't wake you up, he'll proceed to stick fingers into your ear, nostrils, and even your mouth. if that doesn't wake you up, then his last resort will be roll over onto you, his full weight never failing to wake you up lest you get crushed by him.

"a-ace, can't breathe..." "finally, you took so long!"

♡ (although he will never admit it, the reason he goes to such lengths to wake you up is because he misses hearing your voice and seeing your eyes; he also loves seeing the various expressions you make in response to whatever is going on around you at the moment. put shortly, he's impatient. he doesn't want to wait for you to wake up on your own).

♡ he will often sneak out of his dorm and make his way over to ramshackle, calling you in the middle of the night to come and open the door, greeting you with a mischievous grin, (despite your grumbling and sighing about him invading your dorm, you know that you'll let him in every single time).

♡ there are exceptions to ace's antics, however; even he knows that it would be cruel to wake you up early after you've had a rough day, and especially when you've been studying late or when you've had exams. he likes to tease you, but he's not heartless after all! on these mornings, he will brush his lips against your forehead, admiring you for a moment before heading downstairs, doing his damndest to keep quiet, (it is very hard with how creaky ramshackle is). he'll do his best to make breakfast; it won't be anything fancy, but the cute grin on his face as he hands you a plate will be more than enough.

♡ spending the morning with ace will never not feel domestic; the two of you will banter playfully as you eat, ace cutting off your words with kisses, (multiple times, and no, he will never ever get tired of it). grim will eventually wake up as well, joining the two of you in breakfast and making a disgusted face every time the two of you do anything remotely romantic.

"eugh, don't go kissin' my henchman so casually! hands offa them!" "oi, (y/n)'s mine, cat! go get your own!"

♡ when you're getting ready for the day, ace will scoff at the way you tie your tie, getting closer as he teases you for not being able to tie it right, (even if you tied it perfectly fine). he'll undo the knot, flipping your collar up and adjusting everything properly before he redoes the knot, claiming that it's a million times better than how you did it, (it's an excuse. an excuse for him to get closer to you without you making fun of him).

"there! now you look like an actual student!" "ace, it was fine before-" "nope! i perfected it! riddle making us practice those knots was actually worth doing!

♡ sometimes, he'll pull you in by your tie when he's done with it, his lips crashing into yours for a few moments, then abruptly pulling away with a proud smirk on his face. he'll walk away after that and pretend like nothing happened, telling you to hurry up or you two are going to be late for class.

♡ if the two of you have enough time, he might just let you attempt to do his heart makeup. however, he will absolutely insist that you have to sit on his lap, saying something about how you have to have a good angle to apply it, (it's complete bullshit; he just wants to to be close to him without actually saying it. you'll always let it slide, after a little bit of teasing).

♡ if you ask him, he'll also do his own makeup on you so that the two of you can match! (it makes him a bit more flustered than he will ever care to admit, especially when he sees the giddy grin on your face, simply because the two of you are matching). deuce will give the two of you so much shit for it later, but ace will just make fun of him for being single.

♡ of course, every time he spends the night at ramshackle, he is bound to get an earful from riddle. he tries not to make a habit of it, only coming around once a month in the beginning of your relationship. after a couple of months though, his visits will increase until he's coming by once a week, if not more (he's turned it into a habit despite telling himself he wouldn't). sure, he sees you during classes and after school, but there's something about being with you while you're sleeping that makes him sleep so much easier, (he knows that you're right there in his arms, safe and sound). if he's ever asked though, he will immediately say that he only does it because of deuce's snoring waking him up.

♡ he's just a big softie who loves you so much, (also a big tsundere though...)
