A STUDY OF HANDS

So as I mentioned before Zahav has suffered from injuries that's costed him a few of his fingers.

No. 1 - A portion of his left thumb and tip of his index after an incident whilst on an expedition with his former crew. A trap that was improperly disarmed went off causing a passage to collapse in on itself. This whipped out the entirety of his crew and left him heavily injured. Zahav's hand was crushed and mangled upon forcing himself free. The damage done was beyond repairing and it was best to simply remove them.

No. 2 - Half his right pinkie and a majority of his ring finger were a swift loss due to miscalculation in a fight. He grabbed hold a blade coming down at him and that blade was twisted out of said hold. He's lucky he didn't loose more.

And here are some examples on what I think of his prosthetics look like! Made from gold of course ( his favored metal ) and often crafted in such a way it looks like nothing more than unique jewelry. Blends in right along with everything else he wears and keeps people from asking too many questions.

thinking about how Zahav was raised and the way he was almost always treated like a young boy on the ship and around the crew he grew up with. he was often just assumed to be a young boy because of how short they kept his hair, always running around with a extra layer of grime on him from working the lower parts of the ship or cleaning the deck, the way he acted. and of course as he grew he hit puberty, was tossed through physical changes, his figure was more feminine and he didn't understand his body anymore and truthfully most of the members on the ship weren't of much help. as the vessel he was raised on was predominantly male.

they started to treat him differently--- unfairly and make passing comments, he felt uncomfortable in his own skin and despised the way he started to be looked at. by just about everyone he came across. leading him to constantly trying to start fights and flaunt just how tough and brutal he could be ( because he learned from the best worst in that regard ) . and for awhile he dressed in clothing that hid his figure, kept his hair nearly shaved to his scalp, purposely left wounds unchecked to ensure they left a scar--- anything to make himself less appealing. that's also around the time Zahav actually got into scarring, rather than having himself tattooed. he began to feel more at ease in his body then. feeling as though the designs carved in his skin was the center of attention rather than himself. but getting to see the story that's told on his skin. he started to fully identify as a man around then as well, because that's what felt right. that's who he was and that man wasn't scared of a thing. but it took a new ship and crew to embrace himself. letting his hair grow back out fully, allowing himself to dress and stylize in manners that appealed to him. just a few years down that line Zahav finally had the procedure removing his breasts around 19 to 20. began taking substances that both stunted the biological functions of his body and started to lean him into another stage of development.

he was nearly the man he wanted to see in the mirror--- but his conflicted morality was standing in the way of that. but that's something to dive into at another time!

i'm giving Zahav a handful of little tools that a pirate ( loosely ) / explorer deserves when out and about

a grappling hook shot gadget because i think he deserves to be able to just zip up and over to places that are more difficult to reach and also great for catching himself on a fall. spyglass, of course two arrow quivers, for different arrow types with various uses the necessary components to make an explosive ( all kept safely separated, fear not ) 50 feet of loose rope a jagged dragon tooth dagger leather bound journal and a small vile of ink for note taking or mapping

zahav is a HUGE fan of tops with bottom energy that whine and beg. enjoys being able to boss them around and tease them. and he's a fan of bottoms with top energy that will boss and order him around

because dragon age cc is a coward i have to let everyone know Zahav has a handful of piercings ( maybe more ), but he has piercings along both ears; none of them really match. and several more along his nose and a double medusa piercing and single lambert

random but i think Zahav struggles with having to dish out leadership. he doesn't see himself fit to be a captain and he has to push himself to step up when leading a crew on expeditions. and truthfully after the accident ( the cave in that took every member of his team besides his own ) i think it took him a very long time to even trust himself leading others again. opting to break off alone or in a much smaller group just to avoid another tragedy.

and he certainly isn't terrible at it, when he allows himself into the proper head space, zahav is actually quite decent as a leader. he has clear visions, the ability to inspire others, holds accountability, he's adaptable, self-aware. he truly just doesn't give himself the credit.

Zahav has shockingly pleasant handwriting. Not the neatest, with a hint of stiffness in the way he holds his pen, but still fluent looking.

something i adore about Zahav is his confidence like over all ( minus a few situations that he rarely ever finds himself anyway ) . it can sometimes come off as arrogant and you know what? maybe he is!!! but he knows what he's good at. knows what he can get away with. i rarely really find him second guessing himself- and when he has it's something he's pushed passed or learned from with the help from others.

and at the same time he doesn't let that confidence blindside him. he knows when he's beat, when he won't have a chance at something, understands when he's wrong. he doesn't let it get to his head.

i've been digging into sun related mythos and all, made some connections to zahav's character, come up with new thoughts... like ties in with perception and all ( which zah very much is ) . i've played around with the idea of a 'third eye for seeing' which also falls under lots of beliefs of sun related deities! such as loosely listed; power of sight, to visual perception, and ultimately to knowledge.

and there is the more apparent mysticism to sun related aspects; radiant or sun infused weapons and gear, a resistance to higher temperatures, the ability to harness the sun in various ways to his advantage on the battlefield ( in clever and / or magical ways ). like blinding his foes or scorching them / the environment. just little things to tie in with the personality of Zahav, the brightness and radiance of his presence, the heat of his anger, the relentlessness ,,,

important news Zahav's ears do a little twitchy twitch every so often depending on the situation. mostly happens when he gets a surge of emotion and what not.

fun fact Zahav has a talent for drawin, nothing really realistic, more with heavy lines. sometimes it's something easily recognized or merely nothing at all--- but still pleasant to look at

Zahav doesn't enjoy complete silence. If he finds himself alone with a lack of background noise he'll fill the silence himself. Hum a tune, drum a beat against a surface, or simply talk with himself. He's grown so used to the sound of waves at sea, busy sea ports always filled with chatter or music, and the constant sound nature itself. Anything any quieter than that unnerves him after a time.

And if he's in the company of others--- more often than not he breaks it. Fills it with random questions, his thoughts someone might not have asked for, anything to get a conversation going.

But that isn't to say he can't withstand it. He knows when there are times to keep the silence, accept it. Out of respect or out of survival. Even a moment of silence to take in something that doesn't need words in that moment. Be it a person, place, or thing.
