“The expression of offended dignity shown by the cat at the end of the first series indicates a want of interest in scientific investigation." 😂😂😂
Tumblr media
How do cats always land on their feet? Scientists believed they use the dropper’s hand as a fulcrum until these images, captured at 12 frames per second, debunked that in 1894. More on the Falling Cat Problem here: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/photographs-of-a-falling-cat-1894

After a few weeks of writing and tweaking, I am finally ready to share the (un)official, 1001 Animations list.
Inspired by the 1001 Books and an abandoned project from Mr Enter, this is a list of important, well-known, quality and poignant animations, of all kinds, adult animation, pre-school cartoons, short films, web-isodes, music videos, even a commercial.
The idea is that other people can look through and make their own version of this list, so if you want to be upset about what I put on this list... well you have the opportunity to make your own, replace everything you don't agree with on this list with something else, and share it here if you would.

Of course it was a cat! It always is. For example:
Tumblr media
"Falling Cat" is an 1894 short film by Étienne-Jules Marey, the first motion picture starring a live cat, who drops and lands on its feet.
So apparently on December 11th NASA tested using lasers to send information from space to Earth and this was the video they used:
youtube
The first video to be sent from space to Earth via laser is of an orange tabby cat chasing a laser pointer. His name? Taters.
More information:

Rough Sea (1900) James Bamforth
Rough Sea is a  film by James Bamforth shot in 1900 at an unidentified location on the British coast. The film was produced by the production company founded by the director himself: the Bamforth Company.
Rough seas were a popular subject for early filmmakers keen to demonstrate the thrilling new medium of moving pictures. It was an especially popular subject in Great Britain where the first film to receive a public screening was Rough Sea at Dover by Birt Acres, film from which James Bamforth was evidently inspired.
youtube
Nor was Birt Acres the first to be fascinated by the sea; in 1891 Étienne-Jules Marey had recorded waves crashing on a rock in the Bay of Naples, his La Vague is one of the oldest surviving films in history.
