"Hope this helps with your work. <3" They finally turn to sneak away, but this time, their luck runs out as they make a little noise.

the maia's ears perk at the sound and his head whips to your direction. a look of irritation fills his features at the prospect of being interrupted whilst he is busy with his work.

“what is it? don't you know b —” the shimmering gemstones catch his attention and he once overs the trinkets along with the letter.

it takes him a moment before his brows furrow and he clears his throat as his ears droop in the slightest. “so, it was you who has been leaving all of these. . . materials around.” mairon clears his throat, unsure of how to react as he turns back to his work. “don't expect anything in return. if anything. . . I'm amazed at how you would waste your time on something like this — let alone for me.”

“of course you are, after all, who else is better than me?” the maia tuts, his fingers clutching your jaw a little tighter as he continues to intricately apply the eyeliner.

he's reprimanded by an intentional cough from the side and turns to notice his lieutenant who seems unimpressed by his comment. “I will take the tea. do not listen to him.”

a smirk finds its way to the dark lord's lips as he takes your chin between his fingers and raises your head. “is that so? are you certain that you aren't biting off more than you can chew, dollface?”

it is then that you feel a pair of strong arms wrap around you from behind and warm lips against your neck. “I believe they are, my lord.” croons mairon against your ear.

and amused smirk finds mairon's lips and his arms fold across his chest. his head dips down so that you are at eye level with him. “certainly. if you are such a champion then I assume you are not opposed to a little test, hmm?” he croons.

mairon glances over at you, folding his arms across his chest almost as though he had to think about it. but he soon exhales, dramatically, and sits down. “yes I suppose since you asked so nicely, I cannot refuse you.” he tries to hide his smile.

a hushed chuckle comes from the maia as he turns to look at you with a small arch of his brow. “you certainly are a shameless little thing, hmm?” he reaches out to pinch at your cheek. “alright then, precious. I'll humour you.”

*runs into Mairon’s chamber, visibly distressed* Mairon! Mairon, I had a horrible nightmare! Everything was all wrong! You hated hated Melkor, and you took the fair form of a plain, average MAN for some reason! None of that was true, right? Please tell me it was just a dream!

a look of horror twists onto the maia's face before he shakes his head almost instantly. “what kind of sick. . . no, doll, of course it is far from truth. why would you believe such? surely you have more faith in me. . . what horrendous things have you seen in this nightmare of yours. . .”

he brings your head to his chest with a hushed sigh and a very faint smile gracing his lips. “but of course, precious," his ringed fingers rake through your hair, slowly undoing the knots. “rest a bit. I'll have to return to work soon.”
