Sasaharu, Shingo and Tatsuya - Known as the Old Guard.
The trio used to roam the streets together from school to drug dealing to fighting in spats across the red district until they were picked up by the Kimon Family after a brutal beat down. Uemura suffered a punctured eardrum and Katsukaya lost several fingers to a knife fight gone wrong and Kamiko had his stomach impaled - though they did win. They were completely fucked up when the gang that were out for those people came across them.
It was a saving grace after that night, picked up by the men in suits at the voice of the vehicle bound oyabun - they took to the clan house within minutes. At the ripe ages of 15, the three of them gave their promise to the Kimon Clan and in time grew within the ranks.
Sasaharu learnt through the body, a protector - a shield. Tatsuya learnt through dominance, a killer - a sword. Shingo learnt through money, a mastermind - a gun.
Though they were separated for only a few years in their duties of learning how to function in a family like this, they learnt to be brothers and a family even more than just being on the streets. The knowledge that each of them were to grow to be the strength and arms of the Oyabun that gave them mercy and healing in their times of need.
It's without a doubt that it was thanks to that man, that the three of them survived and lived to their current days and with the death of their Leader, the trio all fell into rhythm, Sasaharu, left first with his Daughter and Wife's death as his trigger. Katsutaka followed with his training of Clarence and Kenta, over - though the immortal was older than him, he held only some knowledge of the vast network Katsu' had formed. Uemura was the last to leave, with his debt paid with just over 300 deaths in the name of his Oyabun completed.
They took their paths, though kept a promise to be there when called for. Fushimi needed not them, but the new family he's forged from the despair of his Grandfather's death and thus - allowing these old crows to go was the best idea. Though not under the Kimon name so securely - Fushimi knew that they'd never betray him and in turn, they would remain in touch with Fushimi and the clan in all the ways useful.
Sasaharu, took over his wife's mochi store. Uemura, learned how to bake bread with a sudden inheritance of a local old geezer he once knew. Katsutaka opened his own clinic for eye health and took his own merits high.
Sasaharu is the only one to not return in any form of duty - as he lives his life clean with his daughter.
Uemura and Katsukata however, repay the information network with their talents. Murder and Weapons Dealing.

Sasaharu’s Mochi store is often known to allow delinquent looking folks to enter and stay long pass closing hours. Though Sasaharu’s past is one of the main factors to be in connection with broken home youths and young adults that have nothing else going for them, he took on his prior wife’s nature; and taught the scary-folk to learn to be gentle. To welcome creation in their hands they so long to believe can only harm.
Sasa’s has a workshop for teens and young adults to learn how to make Japanese sweets. From pounding mochi manually, to colouring mochi, to even test tasting new flavours and rating visual designs – but of course, most of all, to allow Ume to meet the hooligans and for her to give them a disappointed stare every few minutes until she’s put to bed.
Sasa’s a man that’s welcome to those that want to learn, he isn’t stupid to leave them in his ship alone, nor to allow them to make any form of ruckus whilst they parade around, but he has given them more than most normal folk have outside the gangs and families they’ve integrated with. Though he won’t turn them away from the clans - he does give them some minor life advice to look forward to finding something better for them. Power and a name are great and all, but times are changing and more and more families are losing out on money, bodies and fear/respect, but of course, he’ll never say names or make him out to be putting yakuza’s down.
Plus; he knows how children make delinquents melt- Ume especially since she doesn’t react all that normally to angry boys and Yankee girls and instead puts them in their place with disappointed Ume looks.
Sasaharu worried for the day she’ll come back home in charge of some Ume obsessed clan. She holds the true power in this shop after all.

With his life always being something dark and violent; Sasaharu’s little angel, Ume bought him back from the brink of thinking he was never able to achieve anything. Like Her Mother, Ume’s guidance in just being alive and with him and crying every night, caused him to have a feeling of protection; to fight off her tummy aches, her filled nappies, her colds and fevers… At the start of restarting his life, he was able to bring her to the manor that Fushimi allowed them to find their feet in.
Though it didn’t last for too long, Sasaharu got the basics down on how to live and understand his own child and in turn. Moved back into the sweets shop that his wife had before everything fell apart. Fushimi carried on his Grandfather’s doings of buying the property in full, taking away Sasaharu’s stress of needing to pay rent and the likes with a newborn in his clutches. In the same breath, Sasaharu was given his break from the Clan’s activities to get himself back on track. After the third year, the Oyabun’s death and Fushimi’s stepping up to the plate after an internal vote - Sasaharu was given full leave from the clan and his title given back to Kenta.
Sasaharu ‘left’ the Kimon Group after a year or having his daughter in arms; he became obsessive with working, building up his café from the ground up; bringing his Wife’s prior dream back to life and with it, his freedom of guns and drugs. Ume was to be loved and adored by nothing but flowers and teddy bears until the day she’d ask about that tattoo upon his back and the missing fingers he lacked but until that day; Sasaharu will keep her wrapped in cotton and he’ll prowl the dark with claws and fangs to protect her until his death came for him.
His first wish was to make sure her life would be safe after his own; knowing the ties and enemies Kimon had, he knew of the dangers of becoming solo and ‘free’, he knew respect could only go so far for rookies and smaller gangs alike; but thankfully - re-connecting with an old friend Caesar, it made sense in his mind. A friend that he had had trouble with a few times in the station; a friend he bullied for a while out of tongue in cheek; and now a best friend that aided him in his woes of his wife’s death. Sasaharu asked Caesar to be his Daughter’s Godfather and second-to-none guardian; in case the day of his last breath came.
Legally now on paper, Ume is under the protection of Sasaharu and Caesar; should the day come where her Father can no longer look after her, she’ll be in the safest and trusted hands beyond his own.

Sasa’s the kind of guy that would just like someone to tell him he is doing a good job with looking after and fathering his daughter, but at the same time he’ll throw hands because he’ll think you’re being patronizing for him being a man without a woman.

[ can you tell us about sasaharu's wife and how he felt about her passing away? ]
Hanafumi Hanazawa, she was the light of Sasaharu’s dark life,in all honesty. She was a headstrong woman, though she was involved with the nightlife, she wasn’t a bad woman. She had her strength and weaknesses that lulled Sasaharu to his knees every time they met up for a drink or quick fuck. Likewise, she loved Sasaharu like he loved her, but it wasn’t for long until they had their hardships and break-ups. Sasaharu, being arrested for one thing, put a strain on their relationship more often than they like to admit. Hana’ being middle class, whilst Sasa’ was lower class with an evident Yakuza tie also made Hana’s family hate him from the mere look he got from them.
Hana was caught in the middle of love for Sasaharu and love for her family. They shouldn’t of got together, but they did and it was something made either side bitter, but it made their love much sweeter. Sasaharu left the Kimon group with minimal damage and instead blessings upon a new family. Hana’ left her job once she wasn’t able to do it so safely and that’s when everything began to sink in. They were going to have a child, they were a happy family, they were ignoring all the signs of Hana’s deterioration throughout the pregnancy. Maybe it was the bubble-happy goggles that blinded them, maybe it was Hanafumi’s stubbornness to take the pain on and not worry Doctor’s about her condition.
Sasaharu saw a woman worth his love the moment she saw her smiling down at her stomach, whispering the chosen name, Ume, into the nursery room they made together in a new founded business.
When she passed away on that table, and he was allowed to enter once Ume was cleaned up and his Wife was given modesty after death. He held his daughter and cried until his eyes couldn’t cry no more and he didn’t know how to feel whole again. He had told the Doctor’s that he’d like to put Ume up for adoption, not having the strength himself to look after her after such a loss, but having a moment to have a break from his Daughter, the nurses holding Ume and Sasaharu given several hours to drink coffee, rest in some form and just gather his thoughts at the hospital, he later returned to his Daughter’s crib and told them he’d be taking her home soon.
After leaving his wife behind, he allowed her Family to give all directions of the funeral, himself attending with little smile or hope to be forgiven by her extended family and rightly so, they blamed him for her death - but with Ume in his arms, those were all hushed words in letters and through emails to their business account. Ume and Sasaharu separated from the main family and in turn had only each other to bring each other up. It was a stress, it was hard, it wasn’t right but he was okay - because he had Ume.

Sasaharu's love language is stifled and little often spoken out loud, however, as most men who struggle with verbal expression of their devotion, he shows his affection through the talents and skills he has in the kitchen.
He makes his S/O their meals without needing to ask what it is they want, he's able to read the vibe, the expression, the tiredness of them over time and in turn, he'll be able to whip something up for them in a heartbeat.
Be is a sweet treat of pancakes and ice cream after a long day at the office, or a hot bowl of freshly handmade udon ramen with kaarage. Sometimes, he'll even make them a bento that has nothing less of all his love for them, even a heart in vegetables or sauce on the rice.
Sasaharu isn't ashamed to be in love with someone but he can find it hard sometimes to express it with the right words but he hopes, that his actions reach his wants across to his S/O over time.

🔥🔥two fears from sasa
“One of them was dying with my pants down. I would hope to be shot or ran over with my pants on and some dignity. That was something I feared back in the day.”
“Becoming unable to smoke; would be another. I’ve been doing that since I was around 11; so it’s a pretty big thing in my life. Having the smoke would probably have more horrible effects on me than good. Ume’s not allowed to smoke though - that’s a fear.”

what's sasaharu's biggest regret in life?
Telling his wife to go ahead and have the child; and that they’ll grow up to be a loving family to their newborn. Sasaharu’s words put his Wife at ease, but it almost made her ignore the pain she was having throughout the pregnancy. By the time they arrived at the hospital for their child’s birth; they discovered that Hana, Sasaharu’s Wife, had internal bleeding in the womb and kidney; making her die in the process of birthing her child.
Sasaharu feels responsible for his Wife’s Death, dangling this hope and love of a family before her hands before the world took her away. Though he was blessed and left with a precious daughter; the fact he only has Ume to hold and watch cry in his arms, and no longer his Wife; made him think of putting her up for adoption more than seven times after the days of losing Hana.
Sasaharu will consciously not speak of Hana, his wife; unless it’s about how beautiful she was and before they had any ideas of Ume’s existence. Even his own Daughter’s birthday makes him sour and depressed; because he knows what he had lost that day and what he had done until that day. He had learned over time to forgive and never forget, Hana's love and excitement for Ume's arrival and thus - slowly allow himself to heal and cherish Ume to the ends of the earth.
