                ♚┊ At the first signs of consciousness, he feels a powerful, throbbing pain in his head, he winces and is unaware of the moan that escapes his lips. He could hear sounds; distant, incoherent ones as he tries to open heavy eyelids. 

                 He squints when the light touches his irises but, with some discomfort, he tries again only to be met with unrecognizable stone-tiled walls, unlit lantern standing on a cabinet next to a washbasin on the far side of this room.

                A cold breeze blows from the open window on his left where a dull, white light shines through, his first instinct is to get up and close it, but as he tries to move his body, pain strikes, jerking a loud groan from his lips.

                           God, why is he in so much pain? 

               He brings his hand to his side to which the pain was emanating from and touches the fabric that tightly wraps around his body. He is confused. he further inspects the rest of his body. everywhere he touches hurts. He tries to jog his memory but his mind was empty and it fills him with a sense of dread as his throat goes dry. 

              What on earth had happened to him? where the hell is he?  None of what he has woken up to is the least bit familiar. Not this dull room, nor the red-carpeted floor and certainly not the excentric flag hanging on the wall. His mind is empty; a blank page and he is frightened.

              His breathing becomes heavier, edging on panicking. He becomes hyper-aware of one important question, who is he?

                 he screams!

The corner of his lips give an involuntary twitch, the cordial smile he, Oh, so professionally wore, recedes��into a thoughtful purse, and his eyebrows lower, just to hint, he found the question a bit out of place.

Internally, the turbulence that shook him stays well hidden behind his impeccable visage (he mastered the skill of controlling one’s facial expression when needs be), and he fought the flood of memories that threatened to break it. 

Oh, how vividly it played before him. The charcoal bodies, the crimson stained hands, the bone-chilling screams down to the fading whispers passing through quivering lips with a purpose. He runs his fingers along the rosewood arm of his chair as if finding the answer there before fixing his conviction-ladened gazee on the prince again.
