        “Lookin’ for me to recommend you a place, Tones? You’re getting up there too. Rust’s starting to form on your suit, Iron Man.” James countered, glaring at their friend. “And with all the brain damage you get from screwing around in battle, you’re more likely to go crazy than I am. Any place that allows two to share a room so I can keep an eye on your crazy ass is my preference. You’d be horribly misbehaved in an old folks home.”

🤕 for my muse’s reaction to waking up in the hospital with yours next to their bed (c: James Rhodes) [we both know he ain't leaving his side]
Accepting || Send 🤕 for Tony’s reaction to waking up in the hospital with your muse next to their bed (x)
        Tony wakes to dim lighting. A window next to him showing the night sky and a small lamp on the table next to him. He isn’t at his house. Any of them. No he’s…in some hospital. Bandages over his chest and arms. Must’ve been one hell of a fight, especially since he can only remember bits and pieces of it. But he isn’t alone, he shouldn’t have expected to be.
        Rhodey’s sitting next to him, right by his side as always. Through college and adulthood, through alcoholism and superhero business, through thick and thin; Rhodey was always there with him. Always making life more bearable. So, of course he’d be sitting next to Tony in a hospital, waiting for him to wake up. Even past visiting hours, Rhodey wouldn’t budge. It almost makes Tony laugh, if not for wanting to keep quiet.
Tumblr media
        He reaches out to his sleeping friend with a smile, touching his hand softly before resting his hand over the other man’s. “Honeybunch…” He whispers fondly, smiling at the creation of yet another nickname for his best friend. He goes against his better judgement and scoots closer to the edge of his bed, winching a little at the pain before settling. “…..” He pauses, unsure if he wants to say aloud what a part of him really wanted to say. He’s wanted to say it for years. Decades, even. “…I love you, Rhodes.” He murmurs softly, eyes remaining on his friend. He didn’t need a response. He kind of didn’t even want one, no answer being a better answer in Tony’s mind than a rejection. Coward, coward, coward.

[Masterlist] [Part 2]
Tumblr media
・ ‥…━━━━━━━━━━ ⧗ⴵ⧗ ━━━━━━━━━━…‥ ・
The cool wind blew around her fairly and autumn was right around the edge. Y/N didn't mind the cold since it wasn't too extreme for her to handle but she still wore a coat to keep herself warm. Ohio offered its fair share of beauty and one of them being the nature around the area she was in. So as she parked her motorcycle near the pathway she neatly removed her helmet and fixed her hair a bit. She was grateful that the bouquet that she brought wasn't harmed on the way since it sat on the back seat. The last thing she wanted was to have most of them fly away during the ride. Y/N smiled at how beautiful the tulips were while she walked her way to the spot. Natasha wasn't the only one who was settled here. There were others, but most of them were nameless or graves are just carved with quotes. It didn't bother her. She only came for her friend after all. There was a tree in the middle and there she immediately spotted it and she came to a halt, sighing at the sight of the stone.
Natasha Romanoff. Daughter, Sister And Avenger.
Y/N read and smiled sadly at her infamous Black Widow logo that was plastered on the middle. Her grave was filled with flowers, pictures, and letters from what it seems to be from fans. Natasha saved the universe after all, but sadly it came with the price of her sacrificing herself for everyone else. That included Y/N. She stood there quietly with a small smile on her face while remembering the moments she had with the Russian. All the shared laughs, missions, and meals will always be something to cherish. It saddens her that she was unable to see her again after coming back with the rest of the people who were dusted. Y/N was in Wakanda with the others and the last person she saw was Wanda silently crying while holding onto the corpse of Vision. For her, it was a frightening experience. One moment she was shoved by a mad Titan and the next was that she felt the worst twist in her stomach before disappearing.
But here she was now, alive, and have no absolute idea on what the hell she's supposed to do with her life. Tony and Natasha were dead and Steve is actually old, but the rest of her friends continue to do their jobs. Clint and Scott lived happily with their families, Bucky was pardoned for his crimes, Sam and Rhodey were working, Carol, Thor, and the Guardians were back in space, and she had no idea where the hell Bruce, Maria, Fury, and Wanda were. Y/N could go back on saving people though she felt conflicted. While the former Avenger was stuck in her thoughts, she barely felt the presence beside her. The person froze at first when they saw her earlier, but when they were able to understand that Y/N was too deep in her world and figured that she seemed harmless. Though even if she wasn't sending bad signals, the stranger still kept a cautious approach. It was only when words were spoken that she snapped out of it.
"What did you get her?" The voice was feminine and had a recognizable accent.
Russian.
"Oh uh-" Y/N blinked a couple of times before she looked at the flowers she held in her arms and blushed all bashful.
"She never really told me what her favorite flowers were so I just bought white tulips." She continued before looking back at the person and was rather caught off guard with the sight of a beautiful young woman. The way her blonde hair blew a little from the wind made it feel a little magical, to begin with. Like she was some fairytale princess. She had multiple piercings on her ears and her hazel eyes radiated curiosity, but also a hint of heedfulness. Y/N noticed them but was too occupied with admiring her appearance. She did admit, the woman before her was undeniably stunning.
"Tulips?" The woman questioned with what seemed an amused tone before shoving her hands in her jacket while Y/N placed her flowers down to her friend's grave.
"I mean I only knew a quarter of her life since she chose to keep it and I don't see a problem with that. All that mattered was that she was a good sister figure and a temporary partner to me." Y/N shared as she smiled at the moments Natasha had her back.
"She had my back and I had hers."
A hum was heard from her company. It seemed she was interested or maybe she was just trying to be genuine, she didn't think about it deeper and just appreciated that she wasn't alone. Y/N could have predicted that she would have probably cried and talked to the stone about how she was feeling at the moment. Even if she didn't look at her Y/N could tell that the blonde studied her closely. She didn't mind her at all and at the same time, she couldn't blame her for being suspicious of her presence. Right now all she could care about was how much she had shared her life with the redhead.
"I met her when she joined Shield. Everyone kept their distance as if she was the plague and so did I at first. But slowly I felt bad for how she was treated and tried offering her company now and then." Y/N reminisced about her early days with the organization. The woman tilts her head at the story of how they were introduced and listened carefully.
"She was hard to approach, but I put up a tremendous amount of patience and trust in her even with what everyone whispered."
Natasha was indeed a challenge. Y/N was aware that the redhead disliked her being around on the first week. One notable thing that she kept in her mind was to be careful of physical touch because when she tried to slap her back in a friendly matter the redhead's defensive instinct immediately pinned Y/N on the floor. Needless to say, she was quick to learn her lesson after that incident. Even Maria laughed when she heard what happened and Fury was shaking his head in a disapproving manner. But even if the progress felt slow in the early stages of their partnership, the results were rewarding to experience. Getting to encounter Natasha initiate conversation first and talk about herself without asking her meant she was starting to trust her.
Though those memories seem to only keep her grief grow. Y/N took a deep breath and puffed. Curiosity then struck her about her company.
"What about you, what's your story with Nat?" Y/N asked as she turns her head to the blonde and there she earned a skeptical look. It made her laugh and raise her hands in surrender.
"Not to be suspicious, but you appear to be someone close to her." She watches as her face relax a little.
"Sister." The woman softly answered.
Y/N then had her eyes widen from the response with her lips forming an 'o'. She could have sworn she was probably an old Shield agent or a friend from her home, but sister? That was definitely out of the options she thought. Y/N felt a little sheepish now that she realized she thought Natasha’s sister was attractive. She could feel Nat’s burning gaze from the afterlife. It was the blonde's turn to chuckle this time at her reaction and shake her head. Y/N took a mental note to try making her laugh more for how adorable her eyes crinkle a little.
"Technically we were pretending to be sisters, but it felt like she was my real sister to me." She added with a sigh.
"And if I remember correctly, you're the one with the water abilities. She mentioned you when we met again." Y/N awkwardly laughed and rubbed the back of her neck before facing her to reach out her hand.
Y/N was an enhanced individual with hydrokinesis. She uncovered it when she was younger and it was one of the things that got her a good position in Shield and later on came in handy when she joined the Avengers. There was never any explanation for her to have such abilities, but she was not one to be unappreciative of them.
"I-I'm Y/N, but I figured you probably already knew that." She stuttered as she introduced herself, blushing a little from facing the blonde.
"Yelena, I mean it definitely wouldn't be weird of me to casually call your name."
Yelena had a small smirk when she took her hand and shook it softly. It seemed to Y/N that the world slowed down from the handshake and could cause her entire face to go tomato red. Just the touch of her hand caused a spark in her veins. Y/N thought it was such an unbelievable to encounter. Though as she wanted to keep that moment longer for her, sadly the world went back to normal speed, and that something barked near them. The sound quickly snapped her out of her thoughts and looked for the source. A dog came into her vision and she watches as the furry fellow ran to Yelena.
“Oh and this is Fanny.” She introduced her dog who barked at the mention of her name. Y/N giggled at the sight of her.
“Hello, there little cutie!” She greeted before looking at Yelena. “May I?” Y/N asked for permission and saw Yelena nod. She then excitedly bent down to match Fanny’s height and petted her. The dog seems to like the attention as she scoots closer to her.
Yelena couldn’t help but smile at what she was seeing. A cute girl smiling while petting her cute dog. It was a rare sight to see. A thought then came into her mind and could not help but ask Y/N.
“Hey, do you want to grab a drink?” Yelena shoots her shot and the girl looked up with bright eyes.
“O-Oh uh- I don’t mind at all.” Y/N stammered while internally cursing at herself for being so flustered around the blonde. Though she could have sworn that Yelena was slightly blushing when she heard her agree.
Y/N wouldn’t have ever thought she’d get to meet anyone from Natasha’s family, let alone a sister and her adorable dog. Now that she thought about it she was glad to come all this way just to visit her. Yelena comes across to be a good company to have around and was also someone intriguing to get to know. Little did Y/N know that the blonde assassin felt the same as well about her.

Miss American Pie
Chapter Five: This Will Be The Day (Finale)
Warning: this series features a romantic Yelena Belova x Fem!Reader pairing.
Summary: Everyone has returned but the battle for humanity against Thanos wages on.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Tumblr media
You wake in a coughing fit, the rubble surrounding you sears your lungs. “Natasha.” You call into the rocks and flickering lights. Clearing your throat, you try again. “Natasha!”
“Here, I’m here.” Her voice is rough, pained.
You push yourself toward the sound, through the dust you can make out her hair. “You ok?”
“Mostly.” She’s laying face up, a few scratches visible.
“What the hell does that mean?”
“I can’t move.” She nods at the piece of collapsed cement. “My leg is broken, you should go.” Nat says, staring up at the sky.
“I should’ve never let you go to Vormir. I’m so sorry, I didn’t know.” You try uselessly to budge the blockage over her leg.
“What is Vormir?” She asks.
“Doesn’t matter.” You swallow the lump in your throat. “How much do you remember?”
“The red room.”
“Do you remember getting out?”
“No one gets out.” She shakes her head.
“We did.” You inform her. “Yelena did.”
“Yelena?” Her gaze finds yours. “You know Yelena? Is she here?”
“Yes, I know her.” You press your lips together. “She’s not here though.”
“The rest of this building is coming down. If you were really trained in the red room you have to know that.” Natasha frowns. “You need to leave.”
“Not gonna happen.”
“Don’t be a hero.” She whispers. “Let me go, it’s ok.”
“No, it’s not.” You argue. “I won’t do it again.”
“What about Yelena?” Natasha gives you a pointed look.
“She’ll understand.” This is what she would do.
“Hey,” Natasha pushes herself up on her elbows. “Would it be a good thing or a bad thing if a giant man in a metal suit carrying a smaller man and a raccoon appeared behind your head?”
You turn toward the man in question. Scott Lang. “It would be a good thing.”
———————————————————————
Natasha is taken somewhere safe. She can’t fight.
As the strange doctor and his disciples start opening portals you see that you’re not alone. Through one comes Alexei, Melina and Yelena.
Her white suit is pristine, dirty blonde hair held away from her face in ponytails.
On shaky legs you move toward her, taking your rightful place at her side. Facing what lies ahead together.
Yelena catches your hand, “this isn’t much of a welcome home.”
You can’t help but laugh, “pretty cool way to die though.”
“Very,” she agrees. “Natasha?”
“She is a little worse for wear.” You warn her, “but alive…and safe.”
Yelena gives you a watery smile, squeezing your fingers. “And you?”
“A tower fell on me.”
“Of course it did.”
Thanos’ army is nothing to scoff at. Giant airborne creatures hover over his troops. Larger monsters stand in their ranks, space ship overhead ready to destroy.
Steve is almost unrecognizable, covered in dirt, his shield battered and broken. But you know it is time when he gives the order. “Avengers, assemble.”
Fighting is easy, it’s what you know. What you were trained to do. Fight to stay alive, fight for what you believe in, fight with Yelena; for Yelena.
The two of you move together like a well oiled machine. Like riding a bike, even after all this time you could never forget.
“We’ve got company to the left.” Yelena says through gritted teeth, kicking at the alien creature beside her. Dropping an empty cartridge to the ground and reloading her gun seamlessly, firing several shots.
Despite everyone’s best efforts they just keep coming. “Do we have a plan here?”
“Getting there,” Steve replies. “Anybody have eyes on the gauntlet?”
“Yeah!” Clint rushes past you with the glove in hand. “What am I supposed to do with it?”
“Get it out of here!” Tony insists.
“What’s happening?” Alexei shouts over the chaos. “I still don’t have ear piece.”
“Just keep their army away from that guy in the tank top.” You grunt, falling backwards from the force of one of Thanos’ soldiers colliding with you.
“We have to get the stones back where they came from.” Rhodey reminds everyone.
“The time space tunnel is completely collapsed.” Tony points out.
“That isn’t our only time machine.” Lang cuts in.
“Does anyone see an ugly brown van out there?” Captain America’s voice hums through the ear bud.
“I do,” a female voice chimes in. “But you’re not going to like where it’s parked.”
After grappling for far too long, you manage to knock the creature from you. Using your knife to dismember it.
“Next time, we get the cool laser guns.” Yelena yells loud enough to be heard by everyone on the network, as she hauls you to your feet.
“Friday, please add laser guns for the ballerinas to my grocery list.” Stark gives his smart ass remark.
“What’s the word on the van?” Rhodey wonders.
“Working on it now.”
The ship at Thanos’ disposal begins raining fire, no regard for their own troops.
“We’ve got people going down!” Rocket hollers.
“Clint,” you call into the microphone. “How’s that gauntlet?”
“Moving down the field.” The archer replies, “I’m alright too, thanks for asking.”
“Good.” You bite back a smile.
Hell continues breaking loose around you. Glowing circular orbs unfold in the air above, providing coverage from the missiles. You’re not sure if this is winning or losing. It feels like a bit of both.
———————————————————————- Thanos and his army are dusted away. Leaving you surprised and still swinging as the shock wears off.
You won. You. Won.
And you lost.
You lost Tony Stark. The man you’d barely known, but offered you clarity that will stay with you forever.
You lost the Natasha you’d come to know over the five years that Yelena was gone. Some parts of the redhead stripped away for the price of the stone.
But she’s still here. Waiting in the wings to be greeted by Yelena and their little makeshift family. You share a look of understanding when your eyes meet over the blonde’s shoulder.
Others come, Banner refuses to leave her side. Despite the fact that Natasha doesn’t remember him.
Clint falls to the ground at her feet. Breaking down at the sight of his friend, his family alive and well. She doesn’t remember him either, but welcomes him into her arms somewhat awkwardly.
Her expressions flicker from happy to overwhelmed. Hesitant to open herself up to the possibility that she is wanted, needed and loved.
Too confusing for the girl who only remembers the red room. Adjusting to this life will take time.
Everyone begins clearing out, their jobs finished. Rushing home to reunite with their loved ones. Tomorrow will bring about new challenges. The world is in shambles, and so are you.
Steve decides that he should be the one to return the stones. His goodbye tells you that he has a bit more in mind. But this is his life. His choices, not yours.
“Well, I guess we should head out too.” You say after a while. Your car is gone, lost in the wreckage from the explosion.
The setting sun is eclipsed, causing all of you to turn your gaze upwards just in time to see the ship’s door open.
“Is that a raccoon?” Melina asks, pointing toward Rocket.
“Do you want a ride or not?” Rocket shoots back.
“Not the avenger’s super jet, but it will do huh?” Alexei smiles, this is his dream.
“This is better!” A man’s voice carries down from the interior.
“Well,” Yelena shrugs, “if you say so.” She leads the pack up the ramp and onto the ship.
“Fanny and the pigs will be expecting dinner soon.”
“How are they?” Melina asks, “have you been taking care of them.”
“That was me!” Alexei says proudly, bending at the waist to gather Natasha into his arms. “Aye honey,” he grunts, hoisting her up. “You are only little girl in my heart.”
Nat pushes against his chest in retaliation.
“Do you mind if I hitch a ride too?” Clint asks.
“The extra stop will cost you,” Nebula stares blankly at him from her seat.
“They always do.” He remarks, trotting up the ramp.
Bruce paces at the foot of the metal grate, watching the rest of you load up. “I gotta hang back, make sure Steve gets there in one piece.”
“After what happened with Scott the first time I’d say that’s probably the best bet.” You agree, standing near the entrance.
“Yeah,” he smiles, kindly. “Keep me posted on Nat, will ya?”
“I will,” you return the smile.
“I’ll see you around.”
You nod, “I’ll see you.”
The captain of the ship introduces himself as Star-lord, and after a moment without response, Quill.
“Any requests?” He asks, finger hovering over the control panel.
Alexei creeps over to the younger man, quietly relaying a message.
“Alright,” Quill nods. Stroking the keys until a familiar set of notes ring out.
“A long, long time ago-“ The singer croons.
You let out a chuckle.
“I can still remember how that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance, that I could make those people dance. And maybe they'd be happy for a while.”
“We’re really doing this?” Yelena puts a hand to her head, the corners of her mouth turning upward.
“But February made me shiver, with every paper I'd deliver. Bad news on the doorstep, I couldn't take one more step.” The melody carries on.
“It’s your song.” Natasha turns to her sister.
“I can't remember if I cried. When I read about his widowed bride.” Melina’s eyes are far away, carried back to their years in Ohio. Before the world had been so cruel.
“Something touched me deep inside, the day the music-“
“Died.” Yelena joins in, lulling her head to the side to gage your reaction.
You sigh, all of this beyond surreal. But you allow yourself to live in this moment, because you might not get another. “So bye, bye Miss American Pie…”
“Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry.” The roaring chorus of voices fills the silence you’ve grown used to. Fills the parts of you that were empty for so long. “And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye. Singin', “this’ll be the day that I die.”
“This’ll be the day that I die.” Yelena sings, her face alight with a childlike glee.
——————————————————————-
Melina, Natasha and Alexei stay with you for a while. A few weeks as Natasha heals and becomes acclimated to her life.
She claims to hate the attention, but deep down you know she’s full of it.
The Ohio house is bursting at the seams with five adults, nine pigs and one dog.
That isn’t enough to keep visitors at bay. Namely Clint, his wife Laura and their three children.
Things feel a bit off when everyone begins moving out. Alexei, Melina, and their pigs return to the farm outside of Saint Petersburg.
Natasha finds herself drawn to New York, with Bruce and the makeshift building he’s using as a lab.
You adjust to the steady thrum that is daily life, with Fanny and Yelena.
After dinner you load the dishwasher, drying your hands on the nearby tea towel before selecting a cycle.
“So how does it feel?” Yelena asks, leaning against the doorframe.
“Hmm?” You turn to face her.
“Being a hero.” She clarifies, a smile playing at her lips.
“I’m not-“
“Oh cut the crap, Y/N. You saved the world.” Yelena narrows her eyes at you.
“I did it for you.” You say simply, because it’s true.
Yelena closes the space between you, “why?”
“You know why.” You whisper as she cups your face in her hands, gently stroking her thumb over your cheek. “It’s ok if you wouldn’t have done the same.”
“I’d do more for you, and worse.” She assures you. “But do you really want to spend the rest of your life fumbling around feelings in the dark when you could have someone who-“
“I want you. I only ever want you.” You beckon her closer. “Anyway I can have you, that will be enough for me.”
Sometimes wires get crossed and you want things you never have before. And she provides them before you have a chance to ask. You give back to her tenfold, so that neither glass is ever empty. That is love. True love, the only way you’ve ever known it.
“I am yours…in every way a person can belong to another.” Yelena breathes, “and then some.”

Okay I saw you accept multiple asks for fic title meme! Thank you!!
Inked the right way
Tony x Thor, Steve and Bucky
Ngl my brain refused to understand the word ‘inked’ for like ten minutes. Luckily our boys are smarter than I am.
Inked the Right Way
Steve tattooed the people he loved.
It had started with his mother, a small ribbon on her forearm. Then Bucky, a simple star on his bicep. Peggy, a feather on her foot easily concealed for work. Sam, a realistic parachute with the letter R in it on his right calf. Natasha, a black widow spider on the inside of her wrist. Clint got the quintessential dog riding a skateboard. Thor got Mjolnir on his chest.
The only people he hadn’t tattooed were Tony and Bruce. Bruce begged off with a frank ‘not a fan of tattoos,’ which Steve always respected, even though he made sure that Bruce knew the option was open. That left Tony, who waved him off with ‘not enough time’s and ‘I’m going overseas next week’s, and ‘later, maybe’s. Steve didn’t want to push. He wasn’t an asshole, and he respected people’s boundaries. But Tony never actually said he didn’t want one, and had even made allusions to designs he might like. Steve always sketched them up, and Tony always looked carefully enthused, but Steve could always tell it was in a ‘but not enough to put it on my body for the rest of my life’ way.
So Steve focused on his friends more, and then Bucky as they got together, and then Thor when he joined their relationship. He even taught Thor and Bucky how to put their marks on him, always carefully supervising them as they learned the skills needed for the designs they wanted to do. Steve had offered that to Tony, too, had even commented that he might be the best at it because of his steady hands.
“I’ll leave the tattooing to you three,” Tony had said, and Steve had wished, frustrated, that Tony would just tell him what his hang up was. Even if it was as simple as he was scared of needles or just simply didn’t like tattoos, Steve would have accepted it.
“Are you kidding?” Pepper scoffed when Steve came to her and Rhodey for advice. Rhodey was no help. All he did was laugh uproariously. “His first and only tattoo was done so badly that he paid to have it lasered off in a time where even he had to admit it cost a small fortune.”
“Tony had a tattoo?” Thor asked, surprised, and Bucky leaned forward, hurriedly asking, “What was it?!”
Rhodey put his hand up, laugh ceasing immediately. “He got it taken off for a reason. You wanna know, you ask him.”
“I thought you said it was taken off because it was done so badly,” Steve began, eyes narrowed.
“Just ask him,” Pepper sighed, rolling her eyes.
Thor opened his mouth to tell them that they knew Tony was an obstinate little thing and would only escape each attempt to ask, but Rhodey cut in, “Just sit on him. He can’t escape all three of you,” which, they felt, was permission.
--
“HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!!!!!!!” Tony howled, then let out a little wheeze. “You’re crushing me.”
Thor moved himself an inch to the left. “How’s that?”
“Better, thank you,” Tony replied, then sucked in a deep breath. “I AM YOUR BOYFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SHOULDN’T MURDER YOUR BOYFRIEND WITH YOUR STUPID GIANT ASSES!”
“You said you like my ass,” Steve said, hurt.
“Shut up Steve you know he’s just being dramatic,” Bucky scoffed, then leaned over Tony, scowling. “Tell us about your tattoo, punk.”
“LEGALLY I DON’T HAVE ONE,” Tony bellowed.
“Pepper and Rhodey told us about it,” Thor cut in, and then they all watched, stunned, as Tony fell limp in defeat with a noise that was, frankly, too adorable for a grown man.
Steve leaned over and ran a hand through his hair soothingly. “If you don’t want a tattoo, Tony, just say so. We just want to understand.”
“It’s not that I don’t want one,” Tony muttered, and then shoved at Bucky weakly. “Okay that’s enough actually, three is too much.”
Thor stood immediately and managed to pull Bucky and Steve up with him under each arm. Tony began sucking in air like it was going out of style, and they felt a smidgen of shame for crushing him under their combined weight.
“I’m too flighty,” Tony began.
“I’m dropping Steve and Bucky on you again,” Thor cut in, and Steve and Bucky obediently readied themselves to grab him if he tried to escape.
“No fucking--I’ll die,” Tony choked, waving his hands at them frantically. “Stop oh my God that’s not what I meant!”
Bucky patted at Thor’s arm. “Take him to the couch. WAGH,” he yelped when Thor simply dropped him and Steve on the floor so he could step over and scoop Tony up.
Thor propped Tony up on the couch and let him gulp in a few more breaths of air, then knelt in front of him, taking Tony’s hands in his own. “We don’t think you’re flighty, Tony.”
“You are all... so stupid,” Tony muttered, blushing a little. “I’m not talking about my romantic life. I’m talking about fucking art. I can’t find something I like enough to put on my body forever, is what I mean. I got a stupid tattoo on my eighteenth birthday and by the next fucking day I hated it.” He covered his face and moaned miserably. “Do you know how expensive lasering was back then? I mean it’s still expensive, but back then? And it hurt more than the tattoo ever did. Did you know it takes multiple appointments? I can’t go through that again. And I don’t want to,” he added, jerking his head up to stare at them in dismay. “You’re all such good artists, and you do such good work. I don’t deserve it. I won’t be able to appreciate it properly, because I’m not an art person, and I can’t stick with anything, and I just... I want to be,” he admitted, hands dropping to his lap, voice small. “I want to have your ink on me. I just can’t stand the thought that one day, I’ll hate it.”
“Oh, Tony,” Steve sighed, kneeling down in front of him as well. “It’s okay. Maybe one day something will itch your brain in a way that’s permanent. But if that doesn’t happen, that’s okay too. We love you whether you have our ink or not. Don’t stress about it, sweetheart.”
“Yeah, Tony,” Bucky agreed, sitting on the couch beside him. “It’s not a big deal. Okay?”
“It feels like a big deal,” Tony muttered, frowning down at his hands.
“It’s not,” Thor affirmed. “Do we need to show you?”
Tony finally lifted his head to give them a pained grimace. “I think you guys actually bruised my ribs so can we please not have sex for a while.”
“Rhodey told us to,” Steve blurted out immediately in their defenses.
Toy sighed. “Of course he did. Of course.”
“But, uh,” Bucky began hesitantly. “...What was the tattoo.”
Tony groaned and rolled his eyes.
“Please!” Steve agreed pleadingly.
“They’ll just be insufferable if you don’t tell us,” Thor pointed out.
Tony closed his eyes and sighed, then opened them again, defeated. “You know how I’m a fan of the Captain America comics?”
“Yes,” Steve said, at the same time Bucky let out a delighted, “No. You got the shield tattooed on you, didn’t you!?”
“Yes,” Tony agreed, miserable.
“Where, Tony?” Thor asked, trying to keep the glee out of his voice and failing.
“You know where,” Tony sighed, sagging, and his boyfriends began cackling about him getting what was essentially a bullseye tattooed on his ass.
--
“You’re sure,” Steve repeated one last time, skeptical.
“Yes, Steve,” Tony sighed, rolling his eyes.
Steve held up the sketch Tony had given to him. “You know you literally chose the most painful spot to get a tattoo. You know that, right?”
“It’s the only way I can figure this working,” Tony admitted. “So I’m okay with that.”
Steve stared at him, then very seriously said, “Tony. You don’t have to do this.”
Tony scowled at him mulishly. “I know I don’t. But I want to.”
Steve looked down at the little stippled hearts that Tony had given him for reference. Apparently he wanted three, one from each of them, behind his ear. Color and size didn’t really matter to him, so long as they were unobtrusive in day-to-day life. He wanted Steve to go first, because he was the most experienced and most skilled, so he could supervise Thor and Bucky if they needed it.
“They’re gonna be red, white, and blue,” Steve said, lifting his gaze back to Tony.
Tony leaned toward him, smiling. “Steve. If you do that to me, I’ll fucking kill you in your sleep.”
“Jesus Christ,” Steve breathed, terrified, as Tony turned to walk away with a skip in his step.
“You deserve it,” Thor said, clapping him on the back.
“You do blue, I’ll do red,” Bucky began.
Tony’s voice carried out of the kitchen. “I’ll kill you too!”
“Why does he sound like he means that,” Bucky muttered, petulant.
“Because he does,” Thor said. “He had the shield lasered off the same year he got it.”
Bucky and Steve grumbled to themselves, because Thor was right, but they hated letting him know that. Instead, they returned their attention to the references Tony had given, and Steve let his thumb trail over one of the hearts, unable to help but feel humbled by the trust Tony was showing them. It seemed like all Tony had needed was the right design, the right people to give him the space to choose without pressuring him. Now, all they had to do was find the right ink.

Too Late
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x fem!reader
Warnings: None, but let me know if I missed anything!
Word Count: 3.8k
Summary: In an effort to be the best girlfriend, Wanda holds in a major secret until it’s a little too late
A/N: I may have gotten a bit carried away, but Wanda is the cutest thing ever so enjoy! Also I’m now realizing this sounds angsty but I promise it’s just fluff :)
“Milaya, I’m so excited! We’re actually going! Just think, in less than an hour, we’ll be there!” You couldn’t help but laugh along with your girlfriend, who was practically bouncing off of the walls in excitement.
“Wan, we won’t be there in an hour if you don’t hurry up and eat your breakfast. C’mon, before we get yelled at.” She let you pull her into the chair next to you and reluctantly scooped up some of the eggs she had cooked onto her fork.
“Do you think the lines will be long? I really hope not, I want to try to go on all of the rides. Which ones did you say were the best again?” Your eyes widened as you swallowed, wiggling slightly in your chair.
“I really like the big roller coaster they have. It goes insanely fast and has one of the biggest drops I’ve ever seen-” You stopped yourself when you remembered that you were supposed to have been done with breakfast twenty minutes ago. “Baby, let’s finish breakfast first. We’ll discuss this in the car, okay? I promise,” you added when she pouted at you.
“Alright, but I’m holding you to it.” The two of you ate in silence, both of you trying to shovel the food down your throats as quickly as possible. As you guys finished up, Clint ran into the room, his arms full of towels.
“There you guys are! Hurry up, we’re leaving! Also, have you seen the big tote bags anywhere?”
“I saw them in the closet a few days ago,” you answered, your mouth stuffed with food as you pointed to a door in the hallway. You shook your head as you watched him dash over to the door. Laura was definitely starting to rub off on him; he was becoming a full-blown mama bear. The two of you now done eating, you grabbed the empty plates to put in the sink while your girlfriend followed closely behind you, eager to return to your earlier conversation.
“Babe, we have to go on the ferris wheel! It’ll be so romantic. Maybe at night, you know, the last thing before we leave?” Her arms slid around your waist as she rested her chin on your shoulder. “Oh, do you think we’ll have time to play those games? I’ve always wanted to win one of the little stuffed animals. Do you think I could win you one?” You brought your now empty hands down to lay against your girlfriend’s and leaned back slightly, enjoying her touch.
“Love, slow down. You keep talking that fast and you’ll pass out from the lack of oxygen. And of course we’ll have time to play the games, but we should get to the car before someone else comes to rush us.” With that, you pulled her out of the room before she could resume bombarding you with more questions.
---
After a forty-five minute car ride with a very enthusiastic Wanda and Peter—you were convinced Nat was going to let go of the wheel and throttle both of them if it lasted even a second longer—you’d arrived at the park.
“Where’s everyone else?” Peter asked, looking around for the other cars.
“I’m sure they’re here somewhere.” Before the witch could wander off to look for them, you grabbed onto her arm.
“Actually, I just texted Steve and Rhodey and they’re still ten minutes away.”
“Ten minutes?”
“Well, uh, Nat did drive a bit…” You bit your lip, afraid of offending the still-annoyed redhead.
“You know exactly why I did it, Y/N.”
“Huh? I don’t get it. Why’d she do it, Miss L/N?”
“Um, nothing, Peter. She was just excited to get here,” you explained, stifling a giggle. You did know exactly why she did it, but Wanda and Peter might not enjoy the explanation that she was trying to get away from them as quickly as possible.
“You think we can go in first and have them meet us there? I just wanna look around.” Wanda flashed you her puppy dog eyes, complete with the wobbling bottom lip, knowing that you would choose to wait for them in the parking lot if it were up to you.
“Yes. Please.” The former assassin looked like she was about to go back to her previous job as she pushed off from her spot against the car. Knowing better than to make things worse, you nodded, allowing Wanda and Peter to leave the way.
“I’m sorry about them,” you whispered to Nat, the pair now walking out of earshot from you.
“Don’t worry about it,” she glanced in their direction before continuing, “It’s actually pretty cute.” Nat smirked at the shock on your face. “Don’t you dare tell anyone, I have a reputation to uphold.”
“That’s why you looked pissed out of your mind? For your reputation?”
“Please, we both know Stark would never let me live it down if I acted the same way they did.”
“You’re insane,” you laughed, but she had a point. “You have any plans for what you wanna do today?” The redhead shrugged.
“I’ll probably go with Sam and Bucky on the thrill rides. That might get a little annoying, but it’s not like Steve’s going to come with me, the big wimp. Or maybe I can convince Pepper to leave Morgan with Tony and we could do something together.”
“You could always come with Wanda and I.”
“Eh, don’t wanna get in the way of you two lovebirds. And as cute as you guys are, I don’t need to see you guys kissing every two seconds.”
“We- we don’t do that!” you stammered, your face heating up.
“Dorogaya, come here! I wanna take a picture in front of the big sign of me kissing you on the cheek! Nat, can you take it for us?”
“You were saying?” Nat smirked, crossing her arms when you caught up to Peter and Wanda.
“Bad timing,” you grumbled, but you couldn’t help but smile when you saw Wanda bouncing on her toes, her hands clasped together in front of her chest.
“Bad timing my ass,” your friend mumbled. Before you could shoot some retort back at her, she held up the phone. “Alright, say ‘Nat’s always right!’” You settled for internally rolling your eyes at her as she took the photo, giving Wanda a kiss after the photo was taken.
“I love you,” the witch reminded you.
“I love you too. You ready for some fun?” Knowing the answer to that question, you slipped your hand in hers and began walking towards the entrance. You used your other hand for something else just as important: flipping Natasha off.
“Miss Romanoff, what’d you do?”
“Shut it, Peter,” the redhead warned him. Even though her tone was playful, you laughed as you heard Peter take a large gulp.
“Yes, ma’am.”
---
“Okay, so I was thinking we start- ahh!” If Wanda wasn’t still holding on to your hand, you would’ve completely fallen on your face when she tugged you off to the side. “Wands, what the heck was that?”
“Look, babe! It’s those game things! C’mon, I’ve gotta win you one.” You bit your lip to keep yourself from laughing and let her tug you over to the water gun game, most of the Avengers following behind you.
“Oh, you bet I’m getting in this,” Sam chuckled, rubbing his hands together before handing the attendant a crisp dollar bill. Bucky rolled his eyes but nonetheless produced a similar bill from his pocket.
“Babe, you gonna play?” You shook your head.
“I’d much rather watch you. Besides, if I play, you know those boys are gonna be some sore losers, and I don’t need to deal with that.” Wanda laughed, giving you a kiss on the cheek before she joined Sam and Bucky.
“Alright, but if I lose we need to go to another game because I need to win you something.”
“Wan, you don’t have to win me anything. We’re just here to have fun, yeah?” But your girlfriend paid no attention to you. She wrapped her hands around the handles of the gun, and her eyes narrowed as she focused on the target.
“For fun, eh?” Nat chuckled as you elbowed her.
“Shut up, she’s cute. And she means well.”
“Mhm… whipped.” As you leaned over to respond to Natasha, Sam jumped up in between you two. His arms were held up high above his head as he fist-pumped the air repeatedly.
“Take that, you two!”
“And which prize would you like, sir?” The attendant asked, their eyelids hooded and voice monotone. Obviously Sam’s excitement was not contagious. You stayed just long enough to see Sam point to a stuffed duck—”Redwing needs a friend! I’ll call him Yellowing.”—before Wanda was pulling you off to another game booth.
“C’mon, I can feel it, I got this one!” You looked hesitantly at the small pyramid of stacked milk bottles.
“Wands, I know this is your first time at an amusement park but, like, these games are usually rig-”
“Hi, I’ll take 5 rounds please.” Your eyes grew wide as you watched Wanda hand a five-dollar bill to the attendant, who handed her a bucket of fifteen balls in return.
“Wanda, these prizes are cheap, we can just-”
“Babe, I love you, but be quiet. I’m going to win you this. You like that one, right?” You followed her gaze to the stuffed dinosaur wearing a party hat and then to the sign immediately below it that stated that it was a “top-tier” prize. In other words, Wanda would have to knock down the entire pyramid of milk bottles to win.
“It’s cute, love, but-”
“Great, I’m getting it.” And with that, you sighed, crossing your arms across your chest. You knew Wanda wasn’t going to let you deter her from her goal no matter what you said, so you might as well support her.
“Alright. For good luck,” you winked before kissing her. Wanda flashed you a small grateful smile in return before turning to the bucket in front of her. You watched as her hand dipped into the bucket, pulling out a ball that she then let roll around in her palm for a moment. She grabbed her lip between her teeth, and before you could blink, she chucked it at the milk bottles. At this point, all of the Avengers had moved on to find you guys, and you couldn’t help but giggle when you noticed their astonished faces behind her. She hadn’t even knocked over any of the milk bottles—they must’ve been secured well—but, with her not being a super soldier or highly trained assassin, sometimes you guys forgot just how strong she was.
Unlike you, Wanda didn’t notice her teammates staring at her, and they didn’t make a peep, so she simply picked up the next ball and threw that one too. This time, she managed to knock one bottle down, but somehow the rest of the pyramid remained largely unaffected.
“I don’t understand why this isn’t doing more,” Wanda frowned, talking more to herself than anything. “If I was in training and these were daggers, the dummy would totally be on the ground by now.”
“You’re doing great, Wands. Besides, you still have 13 more tries. You can do it!” She turned to you, giving you a chance to admire the sparkle in her eyes.
“Thanks, printsessa. I’ll get you that dinosaur. You got a name for them yet?”
“Mm, no. Too busy being distracted by a beautiful, super badass woman.” Wanda laughed and pushed you away gently.
“Start thinking about it now.”
---
“Wanda, maybe we should call it a day…” Clint trailed off gently once Wanda had finished off the entire bucket without knocking down the pyramid. You watched as Wanda’s chest rose and fell a bit faster than usual.
“No,” she gritted out. “I’m winning that stupid dinosaur. Besides, I’ve only spent $6 so far. I’ll just do it one more time.” Getting three more balls in exchange for one dollar, Wanda clenched her jaw as she threw the ball at the pyramid. The milk bottles wobbled but didn’t fall. She tried a second—or technically seventeenth time—and they still stood firmly on the platform. Finally, with one hasty look at the attendant, who was distracted by a screaming kid nearby, you watched as her eyes flashed red as she threw the final ball, the rest of the tower immediately tumbling down upon contact with the ball. The attendant’s eyes went wide at the clatter before he grinned.
“Huh, I guess the Avengers really can do anything, can’t they? That’s the first time someone’s gotten the whole thing down in months. Alright, which one do you want?”
---
“Wanda, I thought we agreed to not using powers for stuff that’s not important,” Steve chastised your beaming girlfriend once you guys had walked out of earshot of the worker.
“But Y/N is important. She’s the most important thing in the world!” It took everything in you to not combust on the spot at your girlfriend’s words and the accompanying hand squeeze she’d given you when she said them. Steve simply sighed, rolling his eyes.
“We’ll talk about this later.”
“Oh, relax, old man,” Clint butted in. “They’re in love. Let them have this.” With the matter settled, Wanda turned to look at you.
“So, what’s the dinosaur’s name?”
“Huh?” You glanced down at the green plush in the hand that wasn’t holding Wanda’s. “Oh, um, Dino.” Wanda’s lips slowly flattened out before pursing together.
“Y/N. You had all that time to think of a good name, and you choose ‘Dino’? Babe, even Yellowing is a better name. I mean, like, not well thought-out at all, sounds more like it’s becoming yellow than having yellow wings, but at least the sentiment is there.”
“I like Dino!” You gave her a big grin as you tried to hold your laughter back. She wasn’t actually mad, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy riling up your girlfriend at least a little bit. Before Wanda could respond, you were both pulled off to another side of the amusement park.
“C’mon, lovebirds, we’re going on the big roller coaster!”
“Alright, alright, calm down, Sammy,” you laughed, patting his hand that steered you toward the ride.
---
Luckily for you guys, Tony had splurged on fastpasses for all of you so that you wouldn’t have to wait in any ride lines. Bucky practically jumped with glee as you walked past all the other visitors. Sweat trickled down their faces; some tried in vain to fan themselves with the maps that were handed out at the park entrance, and others leaned against the railing forming the line. Some of them must’ve been waiting for at least two and a half hours.
“Hey, Tin Man, try not to laugh so hard at other people’s suffering, will ya? Not all of them have the benefit of having a very rich, very generous friend, speaking of whom, never got a thank you by the way.” Bucky simply rolled his eyes at Tony’s remark and got in line to sit with Sam.
“You ready, babe? Your first amusement park ride ever.” You squeezed Wanda’s hand gently, giving her a smile that she couldn’t help but return. You had to speak loudly in order for her to hear you over all the noise on the crowded platform, but the distractions all seemed to fade away as you focused on the twinkle in her eyes and the way her cheeks rose as she grinned.
“And the biggest one at the park.”
“And the biggest one,” you nodded.
“I’ve been ready for this all day. Hands up, right?”
“If you think you can handle it,” you winked.
“Of course I can handle it,” the witch scoffed. With that, you guys shuffled into the carts. Wanda’s knee brushed against yours as the two of you sat down and she quickly buckled herself in before turning to you. Her lips were already parted, ready to share her excitement some more, before she noticed your furrowed brows and your tongue sticking out of your mouth like you did when you were immersed in mission reports. Except this time, you were simply trying to get the belt in the buckle.
“Need some help, love?” Wanda giggled.
“It’s not working!” Your girlfriend gave you a gentle smile before taking the belt from you and sliding it into the buckle.
“There.” She brought your hand up to her lips next, looking up at you through her lashes before pressing soft kisses onto your knuckles. “Don’t wanna hurt these, yeah? Tasha would be furious.”
“Yeah, she would,” Natasha interrupted from the cart behind you. “But I thought I taught you well enough to be able to buckle yourself in, Y/N.” You felt her smirk more than you saw it, and without a full glance back at her, you brought your hand up to her forehead and flicked her before she could react.
“Taught by the best,” you laughed, lurching forward so Natasha couldn’t grab you.
“Oh, just you wait for training tomorrow,” the redhead chuckled. You didn’t pay any further attention to her as you listened to the employee telling you to push the safety bar down. Just as the carts started to move, you called Wanda’s name and gave her a quick peck on the nose before she realized what was happening. She settled for a retaliatory poke to your side, and after your giggles died down, the two of you settled into a comfortable silence, your hands intertwined and laying on the safety bar. You quickly became busy with looking out over the side of the cart, watching as all of the things that once met your eye level shrunk down to a size that was half of your pinky finger. But a harder-than-normal squeeze of your hand had you returning your focus to Wanda.
“Um, detka, is this a bad time to tell you that I’m afraid of heights?” Your heart, calm less than two seconds ago, immediately began to race. You looked ahead through your wide eyes to see that you were near the top before quickly turning back to the panicking brunette who, sure enough, had her eyes glued shut.
“Wh- what do you mean you’re afraid of heights? You literally fly!”
“Because I’m more afraid of bad guys than I am of heights!” You could feel the coaster practically slowing to a stop as you rounded the peak of the coaster.
“Okay, uh, um, just pretend there’s a bad guy? I don’t know, Wan, it’s a little late to get o-” And with that, you rocketed down towards the ground. All blood flowing to your hand was stopped in its tracks as Wanda squeezed you as hard as she could, but you barely noticed since you were forced to focus on your race to the ground instead. A scream slipped past your lips for a second, quickly becoming a laugh that you couldn’t contain no matter how hard you tried. “Isn’t this great, Wan?”
A slight turn of your head told you that, no, it was not great for Wan. Her eyes were still glued shut, her lips were pursed together so firmly they were practically white, and you could just make out the trembling of her torso. At this point, you almost couldn’t feel your left hand from how hard she was holding it, and you imagined that if the safety bar were alive, it would be feeling the same way from her left hand’s grip on it. So, even though you were moving at over 100 miles an hour, it was your turn to press your lips to the back of her hand. It was a small gesture of reassurance, but a gesture that Wanda appreciated nonetheless, especially considering there wasn’t much else you could do under the circumstances.
You were just approaching the bottom of the first hill when Wanda’s eyes shot open, taking in your gleeful face, which contrasted heavily with her own terror-filled expression.
“Is it ov-” She didn’t finish her question before her face practically closed up, but she didn’t need to finish asking it anyway. The rushing of blood to her head told her all she needed to—she was going upside down, and it certainly wasn’t over yet.
---
After what seemed like a lifetime to her and a mere five seconds to you, the ride was over, and Wanda made sure she was the first one off of it. With her feet back on solid ground, she seemed much more relaxed, but you didn’t miss the way her knees wobbled with every step she took. You linked your hand in hers once again and pulled her off to the side of the group.
“Wan, why didn’t you tell me you were afraid of heights?”
“You looked so excited talking about the ride this morning, and I didn’t want to ruin it. And we’re a couple. Everything you love, I want to love too.”
“Well did you love it?” If you weren’t holding her hand, you would’ve crossed your arms to accompany the signature raised brow you gave her in situations like these.
“No, but I loved holding your hand,” the Sokovian admitted as she kicked the ground with her boot. You couldn’t help but laugh at that, giving her a quick peck on the cheek before responding.
“Wan, you are the absolute sweetest, but, please, I don’t want to put you through anything you’re scared of. Especially if it’s not for a good reason.”
“But you’re the best reason I could ever have to do anything.” And just like that, your face felt hot enough to cook an egg on. Seeing the pout on her face, though, you quickly regained your bearings.
“Alright, you’re not allowed to be sweet anymore. My turn. Wan, I’m excited about anything I get to do with you.”
“That’s not what you were saying when I asked you to clean the kitchen with me yesterday,” Wanda grumbled, looking down at her scuffed black combat boots.
“Okay, you got me there,” you admitted, leaning over slightly to meet her soft green eyes before continuing. “In my defense, cleaning is an inherently boring thing. Amusement parks are inherently fun. So when we’re here, we only do things that are fun. Which means, if you’re scared of heights, we don’t go on stuff with heights. Like the biggest freaking roller coaster this park has.”
“Are you sure?” the witch mumbled. “I know you like those rides.”
“I’m positive.” You met her lips with yours as one last reassurance. “Now, let’s go find those tea cups. And yes,” you smiled, not even having to look over at her to know what she was thinking, “You can still hold my hand.”

Friday's Place
Bucky Barnes x Reader
mob au
Notes: Sorry for the delayed update. Had an awesome road trip with my dad all across Nevada and up Oregon to Washington. Saw lots of cool sights the best one being real live WILD HORSES in Northern Nevada. Check one item off of my bucket list.
WARNINGS: swearing, angst
Chapter 5
After Friday left the house Vis called Tony and told him about Brock's latest threats against her. When Tony's phone rang and he saw it was Bucky he chuckled as he answered. They agreed to meet the next day for breakfast.
When Bucky arrived at Tony's the next morning, he was already pacing a hole in the carpet. Tony looked up to greet him but Bucky spoke first.
"We have a problem Tony." Bucky started. "I spoke to Pierce last night and he won't back down. Said he would kill Friday himself if she didn't sell. I won't let that happen."
Tony ran his hand down his face. "Jesus, he wants a war." He sat down
"You're right, we can't let anything happen to her. I've only met her a couple of times but Pepper bonded with her because she used to be horsey too. They get together for brunch or lunch and go riding together. She's going to help us find a pony for Morgan and give her riding lessons. Pepper would kill me if I didn't do everything I can to keep her safe. Plus Friday is bff's with Visions wife, Wanda would be devastated if anything happened to her
So what's the play?"
Bucky thought for a minute "We need to upgrade her security but she will fight it if I'm the one suggesting it so you should talk to her. She doesn't like me much"
Tony laughed "I picked that up when she dressed you down at the hospital. I would not want to be on her bad side. What did you do? Forget to call her the next day?"
Bucky shook his head "Just expressed my interest in her after she saw me with Brock's investors at the city council meeting about his development. Apparently Brock has been hitting on her, telling Sharon that Friday was hitting on him so she has to deal with Sharon too."
"From what I've heard from Vis, Sharon and Friday have history."
Bucky looked surprised so Tony kept going. "Sharon never mentioned her when you were together?"
Bucky shrugged "Sharon is a vindictive bitch. It's tough trying to keep up with her enemies list. Besides, talking was never really our thing"
"Fair enough. I can talk to Friday and have Rhodey pick out a couple of trustworthy people on my security team." Tony paused, thinking, then snapped his fingers. "I'll send Carol, Maria and Val to take shifts and make sure she's covered at all times. They are three of my best and hopefully Friday will feel more comfortable with women."
Bucky nodded "Sounds good to me. I'll be doing my own surveillance and drive by her place a few times a day. Best if I stay out of sight. She really hates me and I don't know what I did."
Tony looked at him with wide eyes "Drive by? You must really like her. I haven't seen you like this about a woman since-"
Bucky gave him a dirty look "Don't be an ass Tony. I feel responsible for not reining Brock in sooner, that's all."
"Obviously not if you care about her hating you. I get it, it's rough, probably been awhile since anyone has turned you down, huh?" Tony could barely contain his laughter.
Bucky glared at him "What's the deal with her and Sharon? I know Peggy left Friday the stable but Sharon already has better horse facilities than most show stables. I should know, I paid for it all. Plus her family money. Doesn't make sense."
Tony shrugged "Like you said, Sharon is a vindictive bitch. Who knows what Friday did or didn't do to piss her off. Probably forgot to say bless you when she sneezed. How the Hell did you put up with that woman for 2 years?"
Bucky sighed "She got pregnant right after we got together. I tried to do the right thing. For Becca.
On that note. Can you get your security people with her asap? Now that I've talked to Pierce he might step up his plans. Especially if he thinks I care about her. He'll see that as a weakness he can exploit." Bucky insisted.
Tony nodded "I'll tell Vis. That way he and Wanda can talk to her." He pulled out his phone and quickly sent a text to Vision to let him know and ask him to talk to Friday.
Friday woke up to the phone ringing and felt like she had just fallen asleep. She couldn't calm her mind down.
The attacks were escalating and Brock sounded like he had plenty more planned. She was more worried about the kids and her horses. Friday had thought Brock wouldn't hurt kids but Wanda's accident, with her son's in the car, made her realize he really didn't care who he hurt.
When her phone rang at 6am she was laying in bed trying to wake up but it still made her jump. She looked at the phone like it was some alien object until she finally answered.
"Wanda? Is everything ok? Why are you calling so early? You're supposed to be resting. Please tell me nothing happened. I-"
"Friday, Friday, calm down. Nothing happened but Tony just called and told Vis that he wants to send some security to your place to keep Brock and his associates from causing any trouble. Nat and I are being assigned security details too. At least until this blows over"
Friday chuckled softly 'Wanda, you know this won't blow over until Brock and his boss are gone. Or we're gone.
Will they keep Barnes out? Because he's one of Brock's associates and he's definitely harassing me."
Wanda laughed "I'm sure you can ask them to keep him away but I don't think he wants to hurt you."
"Geez Wanda, I hope this security detail can be discreet. I don't want any of my riders or staff to be scared to be here."
"Maybe you should think about shutting down for a couple of weeks. Or at least until the next city council meeting" Wanda offered
Friday shook her head "Oh hell no. I'm not going to change my life and disrupt my students because of some mobsters who want my land. Fuck that!"
"What about the kids safety?"
"I doubt they will come in and gun us all down."
Wanda was getting frustrated "Maybe not but one of the kids could get hurt even if they come in and just hurt you. Please think about it."
"Yeah, sure I'll think about it" but they both knew she was just trying to placate Wanda. "I need to get up and feed the horses. I'll talk to you later."
A little while later, while Friday and Peter were feeding, 3 women in dark suits came up the driveway. Friday looked at Peter and he nodded so she went to see who they were while he kept a close eye.
"Can I help you?" Friday asked
"We're the security Tony Stark assigned to you. I'm Maria, this is Carol and Val." Friday nodded and Maria continued "We will be working in shifts so at least one of us will be with you at all times. We will be driving you anywhere you need to go in a bullet proof SUV that Mr Stark provided. We know that you work with a lot of kids and will do everything we can to be discreet and not scare anyone."
Friday smiled nervously "I'm Friday, nice to meet you all. You can make yourself at home. I have 2 guest rooms you can use.
Wearing some stable appropriate clothes would really help so you don't stick out."
Friday and her guards were able to find a rhythm and the week passed quietly. On Saturday, Friday woke up with butterflies in her stomach. This afternoon was Rebecca's group lesson and she didn't want to burst the peaceful bubble Friday was living in by dealing with her father. Except for daily visits to check on Wanda she had stayed home and carried on.
The morning went so quickly that Friday was shocked when Nat pulled up with Billy and Tommy to get ready for their lesson. She looked at her watch and it was almost 2. She had been sitting at her desk, daydreaming about stormy blue eyes for over and hour and forgot to eat her lunch that was now cold in front of her.
She stood up and went out to greet them.
"Hey Nat, How's everything? Don't you have students today?"
Nat smiled. "Everything's fine. I only have 2 on Saturday afternoons and was able to move them up to the older group for today. Vis said these creatures needed some fresh air so I volunteered to bring them over.
How are you?"
Friday shrugged "SSDD. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Glad the city council meeting is this week.
At least my security ladies are nice. I think Val could drink you under the table."
Nat raised an eyebrow. "That sounds like a challenge to me."
Friday laughed "you'll like them. We'll have to include them in our next girls night."
Nat raised an eyebrow at her but before she could speak a car pulled up and Friday jumped "Sorry, everything seems to surprise me lately. I better go see who it is. Can you take them back to the barn so Peter can help them get ready?"
Nat nodded and herded the boys to the barn.
Friday turned to face the newcomers and let out a breath that she didn't realize she was holding when she saw Scott and Cassie. "Hey Scott, Cassie. Hope y'all are having a good day. Head to the barn to get started."
Another car pulled up, a black SUV just like the one Tony had loaned her. Friday took a deep breath and squared her shoulders. She breathed a sigh of relief when Dot came out instead of Bucky. At least until she saw the scowl on her face.
"Hi Rebecca, head to the barn, check in with Peter and I'll be there in a few." When she was out of sight Friday went up to Dot. "Everything ok? Rough morning? I have coffee in my office if-"
Dot snarled "Don't you try to pretend we are friends or you care about me. I had a good thing going and you ruined it."
Friday looked at her confused "What the fuck are you talking about? What did I ruin?"
"Bucky damnit. We had something that could have been real and then he meets you and won't even touch me anymore." Dot snapped
"Who the Hell is Bucky?"
"Don't try to play dumb. James Bucky Barnes. Becca's dad. He's all hung up on you. Sits at his desk staring at some pictures he took of you. I had plans for him and now he wants nothing to do with me." Dot was almost crying
"Why would he end things with you after I've told him, repeatedly, that I'm not interested?" Friday wondered until she felt something hit her cheek and turn her head. She touched her face and looked at Dot with wide eyes, she slapped her!
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Friday asked "It's not my fault Barnes got bored with you." She scoffed as Val came up and restrained Dot.
"You didn't think you were exclusive did you? He told me he has a number of girls and they all like it that way because his libido is too much for one."
Dot spat at Friday's feet. "Sharon was right. You are a jealous bitch."
"Sharon? What did she do now." Friday demanded
Dot laughed "Just told me about how you cheated to beat her in all those shows and always went after her boyfriends."
"What do you want me to do with her?" Val asked.
Friday sighed "She's here with one of my riders so just keep an eye on her."
She turned to Dot "Sharon is a manipulative liar and is probably using You to hurt me. It's kind of her thing. You shouldn't trust her.
You want to settle down, find a nice guy, not someone like Barnes, he's a dog."
Dot scoffed and Friday went to the barn to get the lesson started.
Thanks to Val keeping Dot in line and Peters help, Friday was able to get thru it. When she was in her office, making notes about the riders progress, Sharon showed up at her office door.
Friday gasped and schooled her features to hide her surprise and disgust "Sharon! What a 'ahem' lovely surprise. What brings you here this lovely evening" she asked with a broad smile that didn't reach her eyes.
Sharon simped "I heard you had more troubles and came as soon as I could to check on you." She grabbed Friday's chin and looked at the cut Dot left when she slapped her "Barnes really needs to keep his nanny in line" she smirked.
Friday chuckled "You worry too much about me Sharon, us cowgirls have to be tough, it's nothing."
"True, you've been through worse but maybe you should be more careful about the men you pursue, stay away from the ones who are already spoken for. You're lucky I'm more secure than some nanny or I might have gotten physical over you're obsession of Brock." She threatened.
Friday scoffed "I've never even entertained the thought of going after Brock, much less been obsessed with him and I've told Barnes repeatedly that I'm not interested so I don't know what his problem is."
"Oh my dear friend, you are so naive" Sharon tittered "You send all of the signals, in your desperation you must not even realize. It'll get you hurt real bad if you don't stop" she said menacingly.
Friday realized something and her eyes went wide "How did you know about Dot? It just happened and no one has come or gone since, what the hell are you up to now, Sharon? Did you-"
"Miss Friday, I gave Cookie an apple and she gave me kisses" Becca came running into the office.
"Becca, that's awesome. I told you she-"
"Mommy? Did you come to see me ride" Becca asked anxiously
Sharon snapped "Rebecca, what did I tell you about calling me that?"
Becca looked at her feet "Only call you mommy when we're alone. I'm so sorry Miss Sharon, I just got excited" she said sadly
Sharon smirked "That's better. You and Friday just can't control yourselves, can you. You better learn before you get yourselves into serious trouble."
Carol strode into the office "who's your friend?"
"Carol, this is Sharon we're old friends" Friday smiled nervously, not sure of what was happening "Sharon, this is Carol. She's uh-"
"One of Tony Starks security team. I know." Sharon interrupted "I hope she is enough to keep you safe. I'd hate to see anything happen to you." Sharon hugged her "Well, I have to go Brock is waiting. I just wanted to make sure you were ok. See you soon" and she left without a word to Becca.
Dot came looking in the office. "Becca! What are you doing in here with her? It's time to go" she grabbed Becca's arm and dragged her away.

Friday looked at Carol in confusion. "What the hell was all that?"

Hopeful Part 2
A/N: This portion is mostly a flashback. I also wanted to show Pepper as a mother figure because I feel like not a lot of people do.
Pairing: Peter Parker x Stark!Avenger!Reader
Warnings: death, grief, disappearance (side note: these warnings are the series as a whole)
Tumblr media
When you wake up, you are greeted with the big A on the side of the large building. Pepper puts her hand on your shoulder, giving you a sad smile.
"We'll be okay, now. Let's get inside and see Rhodey." She says faintly.
You nod and head to grab your bag from the trunk. With your bag in hand, you head upstairs to the room that your dad had set up for you when you were ready to be an Avenger. It is clean and organized which is nothing like your room at home but as you look around you realize how much detail Tony and Pepper put into decorating this room. From the walls hangs a couple pictures of you and Peter, a picture of you, Pepper, and Tony at your freshman dance, and a picture of Tony hanging you upside down when you were about 5. On the bedside table, there is a picture of your dad and you sitting at a Burger King right after Tony came home from being kidnapped by the terrorist group, The Ten Rings. Both of you have ketchup covering your smiling faces.
So caught up in your own thoughts, you didn't even hear Pepper come to the door until she knocks. You jump up and chuckle as you put the picture frame back.
"Do you like it? I did most of the work, but your dad picked out the pictures. He was quite proud of himself," She says, giggling as she sits on the bed next to you
"He's always quite proud of himself, but I am surprised that he even allowed pictures of Peter and I. He always said we were one strike from him locking me away in a tower." You joke.
"Yeah, I think he only said that because you and Peter constantly made pop culture references and it makes your dad feel a little old. He loves Peter, and he told me that he was just the person he would want you to be with." She wraps her arm around you.
"Yeah. Peter's a really good guy. Sometimes, he's too good and too kind." Just like that you thrown back into a memory.
It was late fall when you and Peter had met at the Avengers' compound. When Tony had tried to make him an Avenger, it shocked everyone that he would turn it down, but it made you curious. When you introduced yourself, he was quite shy and bumbling over his words. Before Happy took him back home, you exchanged numbers. On his car ride with Happy, you both texted the entire time and had talked about meeting up to hang out.
Weeks went by, and every arrangement that you both tried to make got canceled or pushed back because of Peter's Spider-man responsibilities. Even though your texting hadn't stopped, you honestly thought that he might be dodging you. So, you conjured a plan to see him.
You had been working on a suit for yourself in secret. It's design was not like the clunky Iron Man suit. You took a lot of inspiration from Natasha's suit. It was jet black with red accents. It had boots that would allow to fly, a utility belt with gadgets that you had designed with Tony, and an eye mask, much like Sam's, with FRIDAY set up.
As you suited up, FRIDAY located Peter, and you were off. As Peter stood on the edge of a rooftop, you waited for him to notice you.
"Hey, Spider-man. Are you dodging me?" You said, startling the red suited hero.
Peter turned around and quickly noticed the suit you had sent him pictures of. "No- uhh- ju-just doing my Spider... stuff. I'm sorry I've been canceling." As he said it, he looked down at the down as if he was embarrassed.
"You know that heroes can take break, right? The fate of the city won't fall into chaos in one night." You say as walk over and sit down next to him.
"I know. I just want to help people so bad I put-"
"Everyone else before you. I understand that but Peter you can't take care of everyone else if you don't take care of you." You look at him and smile at the kind boy in front of you. "Pete, how 'bout this I'll have my dad watch over the city for one night and you come to the lab. We'll do some science and make something blow up. We'll have fun," you said giving him a mischievous grin.
"I- I'd like that."
The next day, he came to the lab, and you both had a blast making chemistry explosions, working on suits, and just talking. Peter seemed more relaxed than when you had previously seen him or talked to him.
A couple of months later, you hung out almost anytime he had a chance to. Of course, he still didn't listen to your advice, and he never let up on his "Spider stuff". Regardless, you had liked him and asked him out. He bumbled on for a bit before saying yes.  Since then, you guys were happy together. You were the cutest couple of nerds.
You were drawn out of your thought by Happy knocking on the door.
"Hey, Rhodey said he's in conference with Sceretary Ross. Says he should be done soon."
"Thanks Happy." You and Pepper both say and you giggle.
As Happy leaves, Pepper turns to you and kisses the top of your head. You playfully push her off. "Let's get some lunch, alright?"
You nod, and both of you go make grilled cheese with Lipton chicken soup. You always preferred chicken soup to tomato. As you sit down to eat, you see something out of the corner of your eye. It's Steve.

Part Two
New York, 2016
This was bad. Very, very bad. I had seen the secretary come in the compound over the screen of the security monitors. He marched into my home, unannounced and unwelcome, holding himself with purpose. I followed him over the screens, tracking his movements. I watched as he was led through the building, up the elevator and into...the conference room? Oh this was bad. Very, very bad.
I raced as fast as I could. By the time I got the to conference room, the whole group was already sitting in front of the secretary. I saw Wanda first. Her back was to me, but I could see her rigid frame and I knew something was happening. My  father saw me approaching through the glass walls. He shot me a look that said "Don't do it. Don't come in here." I didn't obey.
The secretary stopped speaking abruptly when I walked through the doors. He gave me a quizzical look, did a once over and immediately looked at my father. Surely I don't look that much like Tony.
"Sorry I'm late, no one informed me about this team meeting," I gasped, short of breath from all the running. Of course, this was pushing it. As much as I wanted to be a part of the group, fighting was not my style, so I often got left out of important Avengers activities. I got to live with them, but that was it. Tony rose from his seat. He mumbled an apology to the secretary and gently ushered I out of the room. I would have fought back, but seeing the look on my father's face was enough to shut me up. And I never shut up. The secretary resumed his story. Something about golf and a heart attack.
My dad turned to face me. "Look kid, I get that you want to know what's going on, and you will, but today isn't the day."
"Okay," I said. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be, it's okay to be curious," he replied, walking back into the meeting. "Stay upstairs, okay hun?" I nodded and started the trek back up to my room. I shut the door and flopped onto my bed. Out of my long list of pet peeves, this was number one. Sure, I didn't want to fight, but come on family, I should at least get to be in on what's going on! Maybe I could help. I have powers for God sake. I am more than capable of helping the Avengers. But they always saw me as the little girl who needs protection.
"April, pull up security footage of the conference room please," I asked. April, the AI I built, that was modeled after Friday, projected the video surveillance from the ceiling. "Volume up." The group was in the same position as from when I left. The secretary was passing around the room. There was a thick white book being passed around the table.
"The Avengers were formed to make the world a safer place," Steve said quietly. "I feel we've done that."
The secretary looked down at him. "Tell me Cap, do you know where Thor and Banner are right now?" What? You were so confused. Why did the secretary care where my uncles were? No one answered the secretary's question, so he kept talking. I racked your brain to find the answers on my own. "...this is the middle ground." The secretary pointed at the book, now lying untouched on the table.
"And if we come to a decision you don't like?" Natasha asked.
"The you retire," the secretary responded. With that, he left the room and I scurried back downstairs.
Everyone was in the living room. I sat in the stairwell, again being uninvited to this group discussion. I listened to them fight. I figured out what was going on. The United Nations were being ungrateful little bitches and hated that they didn't have control over my family. So they gave an ultimatum: give in or give up. From the sounds of it, Uncle Rhodes, Vision and two of my four parents were in agreement with the accords. Steve and Sam were against it. Wanda hadn't said a word. Tension was growing high, I could feel it. I heard my father conclude that he won and a thud of the accords being tossed on the coffee table. Someone got up and left. Before I had the chance to act, the door to the stairwell was torn open. Steve pushed through and nearly stepped on me.
"Eavesdropping?" He smiled.
"You kicked me out, what else am I supposed to do?" I retorted. I noticed the tears welling in Steve's eyes. "Pops, what's wrong?"
Steve's glance fluttered to the ground. "Peggy. She, um..." was all he said. All he had to say. I  was smart enough to read between the lines. I stepped forward and hugged Steve. He smiled, grateful that he had me. I knew how much Peggy meant to him. When I was little, he'd always tell me the story about how they met, how they never got that dance. And every time I would make him dance with me. He even took me to visit her once. I was ten and it was Christmas time. Steve told me that he wanted his favorite girl to meet his favorite niece. Now that was all but a memory. I held him tight before telling him to go. It was okay, I could handle the others. He left without a second glance.
Within days the team was scattered. Steve and Sam had gone to Peggy's funeral. Natasha was off to the signing of the Accords in Vienna. And then all hell broke loose when the bombs went off at the signing ceremony. As always, I  were left home. I had no idea what was going on. At first this break in the team was about the Accords, but somehow Steve's old pal Bucky got involved. I didn't know what to think. The next thing I knew, everyone left for Berlin to rescue Steve and Sam from jail, leaving myself, Wanda and Vision at home.
When night fell, I was in my room, sulking as one would say. I was spending my evening flipping through Tumblr. There was a new superhero everyone was talking about. He called himself Spider-Man. New York based, focused on small neighborhood crimes. By YouTube footage alone, it was obvious he was a rookie. Soon enough, though, I accidentally conducted a full fledged search on this guy. He seemed shady. Sure, he's helping old ladies cross the street and all, but he just has a vibe. I couldn't put my finger on it. April broke me out of my research when she told me that there was a security breach in the compound. I pulled up the security camera footage and saw Clint Barton in my living room with Wanda levitating a knife at his nose.
I rushed downstairs. When I got to the living room Vision was holding Clint by the neck. I watched in silence as Wanda used her powers on Vision. She made it look easy. Slowly, Vision sunk to his knees. Wanda pushed further and the floor gave way. Vision was pushed through all seventy-four thousand levels of the compound. Wanda and Clint were about to turn to run out when you revealed yourself.
"Now was that really necessary?" I smirked. "We just had the floors waxed."
"Y/n," Clint warned.
"I'm not sitting on my ass," I said. Clint smirked and nodded. He knew he couldn't stop me anyways.
One car ride, plane flight and van trip later, I was in Germany. As it turns out, Steve wanted Clint and Wanda on his side, along with some ant dude named Scott. Scott was cool. Him and I sat together on the plane ride and watched Die Hard. He was asleep in the van when we pulled over in the airport parking lot. Clint told me to stay in the van. For once, I listened. I heard voices belonging to Steve and Sam. Clint slid open the van doors abruptly, shaking Scott awake. I chuckled to myself as he fangirled over my Pops. A voice over the intercom said something in a language I didn't know. A voice I didn't recognize said that the airport was being evacuated.
"Stark." Sam muttered.
Scott looked puzzled. Clearly he hadn't been filled in either. "Stark?" he asked.
I step out of the van. "Yes?" Steve and Sam look at me with wide eyes. Clint gave Steve a sheepish shrug. Behind their little blue car stood Bucky Barnes. I knew who he was. I learned about him in school. I knew he was some evil super soldier that attacked Natasha and Steve. He looked scary. He looked exactly like the type of guy to hurt my Mama and Pops. I held his glance until Steve spoke up.
"Y/n, what are you doing here?" Steve whisper-shouted. His voice always got quiet when he 'yelled' at me.
"I hitchhiked." I replied, knowing that at this point Steve didn't have the time to argue with me. He shook his head in defeat and took a deep breath.
"Suit up."
The airport was huge. Our group got suited up and started for the runway. I didn't know how Steve knew where to find my dad, but I followed him anyways. Before I could get any closer, Bucky held me back.
"It's, uh, not gonna be safe. You should stay here and keep low," he said. I frowned. I did not come all this way to not fight. But even still, I nodded. Bucky scared me. He and Sam took off in another direction to find the getaway jet. I laughed. This whole thing was ridiculous. My attention turned to the sound of my father and Rhodey flying down from the sky.
"Ross gave me 36 hours to bring you in," Tony started. "That was 24 hours ago. Can you help a brother out?"
"You're after the wrong guy," Steve replied nonchalantly.
"Your judgement is askew. Your old war buddy killed innocent people yesterday-"
"And there are five more super soldiers just like him. I can't let the doctor find 'em first Tony. I can't."
"Steve," Natasha approached him slowly. "You know what's about to happen. Do you really wanna punch your way out of this one?"
I took this as my cue. "No, but I will," I said, emerging from my hiding spot. I looked at the faces of your family. My gaze fell on Tony and my smile dropped. He looked angry.
"You brought my daughter into this?" Tony yelled, turning to Steve.
"Technically, I brought myself," I said. "You really think you were gonna leave me out of all the fun?"
Tony pinched his brow. "Y/n, this is serious."
"No it's not," I objected. "No, this got personal the second you thought you were gonna loose Pops to Bucky." No one moved after I said that.
"Alright, I've run out of patience," my father finally spoke. He cupped his hands around his mouth. "Underoos!"
Before I had a chance to process, a red and black blur whipped past my head. It landed on top of a nearby van. It was Spider-Man. As in the Spider-Man. He had taken Cap's shield from him. I said nothing. My father could have recruited me, but instead he chose this little neighborhood nobody. That hurt a little. The Spider-thing and my father bantered for a minute. So he's never even been in a real fight before, I thought.
"You've been busy," Steve smirked.
Tony turned back to Steve. "And you've been a complete idiot. Dragging in Clint and Y/n, rescuing Wanda from a place she doesn't even want to leave, a safe place. I'm trying to keep-" he paused, sighing. "I'm trying to keep to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart."
"You did that when you signed." Steve kept his cool. My father did not.
"Alright, we're done. You're gonna turn Barnes over, you're gonna come with us, now, because it's us! Or squad of J-SOC guys with no compunction of being polite. Come on."
Everyone stood still, waiting. Steve put his web-cuffed hands in the air. Clint shot them free from a mile away. I saw Scott -or a tiny version of him. Spider-Man noticed too, right before Scott grew and kicked him in the face. My dad flew off to retrieve Wanda and Rhodey was ready to take on Cap.
"Hey Mr. Stark, what should I do?" Spider-Man asked. He sounded young.
"What we discussed, keep your distance, web 'em up!" My father barked, as he flew towards Clint and Wanda.
"Okay, copy that," Spider-Man replied. He shot a web at me first. It caught my arm and I got whipped to the ground. I glared at him.
"Really?" I hissed.
"Just following Mr. Stark's orders," He said before swinging off after Bucky. I was left on the ground once everyone dispersed. I tried pulling my hand out of the sticky material that was shot at me, but it was stronger than glue. I was forced to watch the action unfold and wait until Natasha ran past me.
"Mama, a little help here?" I called out to her.
She stopped for a second. "Sorry honey, I really don't want you getting hurt." She ran off and I groaned. No one ever wants me to get hurt. I suppose I should be grateful, but in a moment like this, gratitude is hard to find. I started toying with the web. I wondered if I could break down the molecules. Surely there had to be some sort of H2O compound in it somewhere.
My power surged through me, the current flowing to the hand webbed to the ground. I managed to manipulate the water out, just as I predicted I would. The substance melted off my hands. Gross, I thought. I wiped the remaining web on my pants and got up. The water from the webbing fell to the ground with a splash.
I stood up and examined my surroundings. Natasha was on the ground fighting Scott, who shrunk down and flipped her over her own head. The Black Panther was on the other side of the roof, battling Steve. I didn't move. As much as I wanted to be included, I couldn't bring myself to fight. Not now at least.
The two teams assembled, divided by a line on the pavement. How cinematic. I was on Cap's side. I never meant to fight against my father. If anything, I thought it was funny. I looked out at the team in front of me. They were all lined up, Rhodey, the cat, Tony, Nat, the Spider-brat. Vision hovered above them. A bead of sweat trickled down the back of my neck. I were scared. I wasn't made to fight.
"What do we do Cap?" Sam asked.
"We fight." Steve moved first. We followed in suit. My dad's team mimicked my team's actions and walked closer. We  broke into a jog and then a full out run. This was really about to happen. I hoped that my family would go easy on me. I knew what I was doing. I reassured myself of that. I have done a bunch of training, especially with Wanda. I could move the freaking elements with my mind and manipulate gravity! As if the Spider-Man could beat that. I am Y/n fricking Stark. I can do this.
I put a smile on your face, contrasting everyone else's bitter looks. "I call the spider!" I yelled, just as everyone began the battle. Spider-Man heard me and slowed down just a bit. I cocked an eyebrow. He resumed his pace and ran straight for me. I ran headfirst towards him. He threw out his arm to web me, but I was faster. With a swish of my hands, I changed his gravitational pull and made his feet flip out from under him. He landed on his back with a hard thud. As gently as I could, I morphed the pavement under him to trap his hands. "Careful there, Spider-boy. Don't wanna get stepped on." I walked away. I made it about ten steps before I heard the sound of concrete cracking. I turned around and saw that Spider-Man was breaking free of his restraints. I was shocked. He has super strength. Great. I should have moved out of his way because the second he got one hand free, I was webbed against a truck.
"For the record," he said, getting up in my face. "It's Spider-Man." He swung off into the airport through a glass window. I watched the glass rained onto the ground. Taking a deep breath, I quickly removed myself from the webs. I needed a plan. A strategy. I thought about at the opposing team. Everyone was scattered around the airport. I thought about who would be easiest to fight. But then I realized, the strategy wasn't about how they'd fight, but who. There was no way in hell that my parents or Uncle Rhodey would even think about fighting me. The Black Panther didn't know me, so he was a threat. The worst Vision could do was pick me up and fly away, so he was in thr safe zone. That left the spider. I smiled to myself. Rematch time.
By the time I found Spider-Man, he had already webbed Sam and Bucky to the floor. He was perched on top of a light post, saying something about impressing my father. Sam's mini falcon whizzed past me and grabbed Spider-Man by the web. He got pulled out a window, banging his side into the pane on the way out. I ran over to Sam and Bucky. Quickly, I destroyed the webbing and helped them up. They both gave me a quick "Thanks kid," before running back out. I followed them, staying loose on their trail.
Once I got outside my eyes scanned the area for the Spider. I saw Wanda piling cars on my father and Natasha fighting Clint. Then I spotted him, fighting Cap. He was underneath a jet bridge . Cap threw his shield at the support beams and the whole thing fell on top of Spider-Man. He caught it of course, but Cap ran away. I formed my plan.
"Hey!" I called out. I walked around the collapsing jet bridge. I stood in front of the struggling boy. Or man, I didn't know. "Remember me?"
"Heh, how could I forget such a pretty face," he grunted, starting to fold under the weight of the jet bridge. "You wanna give me a hand?" I glared at his face comment, but lifted the jet bridge anyway. He ran out and I let it fall. Both of us stopped for a minute, gasping for breath beside the rubble. He was close enough to hit. So I did. Without warning I threw a punch of air at him. It hit him right in the chest and he got blown back into the side of a van. "What the hell man?" He got up and shot a web at me. I dodged and threw another gust of wind. It shot him out of the air. He webbed at a pole and swung past my face. I redirected his gravitational pull, but not before he got a kick to my face. We both got thrown in different directions. I landed hard on the ground, pain shooting up my spine. I got up first, now angry. Forgetting about my powers, I lunged at him and threw a punch. I missed and he shot webs at my feet, holding me down. Immediately, I dissolved them and Spider-Man's eyes widened. Well, his mask's eye holes did anyway.
"How did you do that?" He yelled. "What kind of witchcraft-"
"Its not witchcraft," I spat. "It's called manipulation of the elements, look it up. I figured there had to be some water compound in this and I was right. All I had to do was remove it."
"That's so cool! And how did you do the foot thing earlier? Was that just the wind you do or do you have telekinesis too? Are you like the Scarlet Witch?" He rambled on. I took this to my advantage and caught him off guard. I used the van he'd hit earlier to become his gravitational pull and yanked. He went slamming into it and groaned. When he tried to get back up, I was already five steps ahead of him. Morphing the earth metals in the van, I contorted it into a shell that crushed Spider-Man until he was covered and stuck.
I heard Scott say that he was gonna tear himself in half over the earpiece. I got distracted from holding Spider-Man down and turned to see a giant Scott. Spider-Man broke free. He tore the shell off himself and threw it at me. I was wacked across the side and fell the the ground again.
"Holy shit!" he says, looking at Scott. His back was to me and I gave him one last wind push. He fell on his face and I laughed. "Oh come on, don't you have some dolls to play with or something?" I just scoffed and walked past him, stepping past his hand that was on the ground. He let out a yelp and you kept walking. Dolls, I thought. I'm thirteen I don't play with dolls. I watched as the rest of the battle went down. I wasn't quite sure what to do. I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
Natasha was standing just behind me. "Come with me." We started jogging off. It was natural for me to listen to her. I realized about five seconds in that technically she was my enemy right about now, but I shrugged it off. I ran through the fight, past the big Scott and towards a warehouse. I could see the outline of a jet get bigger as I approached it. Natasha stopped behind the entrance. She was waiting.
"So what do we do?" I asked.
"We wait to fight," She replied, not taking her eyes off the horizon. I came to realize this probably means I would be fighting her. Maybe she wanted to use me as a hostage or something. No, that's silly. Right?
Steve and Bucky got closer to the building I was in. They nearly made it until Vision laser beamed the shit out of a nearby communications tower. Wanda caught it before it fell, giving the two men time to race towards the jet. I stepped out to help Wanda. The both of us were able to hold the rubble long enough for Steve and Bucky to get through. I panted, proud of myself for getting this far.
A searing pain sliced through my brain. Both myself and Wanda fell to the ground, screaming. I could barely look up to see that Rhodey was sending some sort of wave through the air. The tower fell and Natasha was quick to haul me out of the way before I got crushed. I might be better than Spider-Man, but I definitely don't have his super strength.
Steve and Bucky still managed to get through the falling paces of metal and concrete. Natasha left my side and marched swiftly towards the two men. I couldn't hear them, but I could sense the tension from a mile away. Natasha lifted her arm, taser aimed and ready. Steve held his shield up in defense as Natasha shoots....the Black Panther? I guess she's on our side now? The jet started to take off and you watch an Natasha continues to battle the Panther. I fell to my side, wiped out.
My father flew into the warehouse just as the jet leaves. You thought maybe he was going to fight Natasha for betraying him. I was wrong. He was coming for me. He landed beside me and dropped to his knees. His helmet closed and I could see the worry plastered on his cut up face. He knelt beside me and gently held me up.
"Are you okay?" he asked. I nodded, not really able to make words. He looked over at Natasha, who was looking at us. She had an apologetic look, but I know she doesn't regret letting Cap go. My father let me go and charged off after the jet plane. I lied down, enjoying the feeling of cold concrete against your skin. I closed my eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I paced around the living room, driving Nat crazy. I knew that the second my father got home I would be in deep shit. So when Friday alerted me that Tony was home my heart rate went up 29373%. The battle, this fight, it ended worse then I could have imagined. Natasha told me that my father could have died. Rhodey was paralyzed from the waist down. I had no idea if I'd ever see my Pops again. This was bad. Very, very bad.
I slowly walked down the main hall towards the front doors. I was scared. My hands and the back of my neck were sweating. I knew exactly what was coming. Every time I had asked my dad if I could be an honorary Avenger, I got the same lecture. That it was too dangerous, I didn't have the proper training and it's too much for his little girl to handle. Even when I asked to just be a part of the business side of the team, Tony laughed and said no. I've broken a lot of my father's rules, but this was the line. And I had gone so far over.
As I approached the front door, I could hear my father speaking. I heard another voice too. My heart dropped. It was Spider-Man. Why was Spider-Man here? I ducked behind a wall and listened in to the conversation.
"...outstanding job kid. Your fighting technique was on par. And, listen, I know we're not allowed to have kids on this team, but if we need you again, we'll call." I heard my father say.
"Thanks Mr. Stark. This was so cool," Spider-Man replied. I wondered if he had his suit on or not. I wanted to know who this guy was. I revealed myself from behind the wall. The two looked at me. I looked at my father first and fought the urge to burst into tears. He looked awful. His face was all cut up and the black eye he got was still a little swollen. I glanced at the figure beside him and frowned. Spider-Man was a kid. He looked like he was my age. He had a mop of curly brown hair and doe eyes. He was almost equally as beat up as my dad and I gracefully took credit for that.
"Y/n, this is Peter. He's, uh, one of my interns. Kid, this is Y/n," Tony said. My annoyance turned to anger. Now my father was lying to me?
"How old are you?" I asked, eyes narrowing. I knew that I sounded rude, but this kid had kicked me in the face twice. I didn't think he deserved my manners.
"I'm fourteen," Peter gulped. A year older than me. And I kicked his ass, I thought. "You gave me quite a fight back in Berlin."
"Yeah and I beat your ass doing it."
"Speaking of which," Tony spoke up, "I have to talk to Y/n about that. Happy will take you home Peter." Peter nodded and said goodbye to my father. He said goodbye to me, to which I didn't reply. Peter frowned at that as he walked out the door.
My dad turned to me when the door shut. "What," he began, "were you thinking?"
"Well I-"
"No. This is where you listen. Do you know how dangerous that mission was. Do you know how many people got hurt? You saw what happened to Rhodey, that could have been you!"
"But it wasn't" I retorted.
Tony's frown deepened. "That is not the point. You put yourself in serious danger, and for what? So you could feel a little more included? You could have died. This was my one rule, my one ask of you, and your broke it."
"Oh, come on now, I'm a Stark, it's in our blood to not listen to our fathers." My father gave me the coldest look and I shut down. I took a deep breath. "Look, I didn't know that it was gonna be this bad. You know me, daddy, I'm not a fighter, I'm not some hero. You think I would have gone if I knew it would turn out like this? I thought this was just gonna be another one your you and Pops' stupid fights. And yes, I could have gotten hurt, but I think I handled myself pretty well. You saw what I did you that little protege of yours. I beat him to the curb."
"Y/n you were reckless. Peter was prepared for this, he was ready."
"And I still beat him."
"Y/n you're not listening to me. This is why I chose Peter over you. I would have taken you if I knew you wouldn't do something stupid. But you did anyway." And with that he walked away, leaving me, teary-eyed in the front hall.
Tony came by my room later that night to apologize. He said that he was sorry for being harsh, that he just cared about me and I scared him. I knew he meant it and I forgave him, because that's what we do. Besides, it wasn't Tony I was angry with. This is why I chose Peter over you. Tony's words echoed through my head. I knew that he loved me more, I'm his daughter, he had to. But I were jealous. Jealous that stupid Peter Parker got the praise for the work I've wanted to hear for ages. And mad at that stupid spider for being stupid.
This is when I decided that I hate Peter Parker.
Tony paces around his lab, clearly thinking hard. Lately, that was where he spent most of his time. Currently, He was working on an upgrade for your suit. Usually, he'd have finished the upgrade weeks ago, but for some reason, it is never good enough, and he inevitably ends up scrapping it and starting over.
"Tony, you've been working for hours," Pepper says as she steps into the room. "Vision ordered pizza."
"I'm not hungry," he mumbles without looking up. This time, he was sure that he'd be able to finish the upgrade. Then, he'd be able to move on to upgrading Peter's suit, then his own.
"You've been saying that a lot lately." Pepper sighs as she walks up to him and places a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Does this have anything to do with Y/N?"
"You mean my daughter who hates me?" He mutters under his breath, but she heard it nonetheless.
"She doesn't hate you. She's just going through a tough time." Pepper was a teenager once, and she'd had times where her relationship with her parents wasn't perfect, despite them wanting the best for her. All she needed was time, and maybe you do too.
"Pep, she can barely look at me." In all his years of raising you, Tony had never thought that your relationship with him would ever become what it is now. "Did I do something wrong?"
Pepper didn't exactly know what to say to that. She didn't think that Tony did anything wrong, yet how could she make him see that?
"Come and eat. Maybe we can all talk about it downstairs," Pepper finally said as she leads Tony to where everyone else was waiting.
-----------------------
"Happy?"
Harley was currently poking Happy with a selfie stick he had found under someone's car in an attempt to wake him up. Unfortunately, it wasn't working, and Peter was starting to lose it.
"Dude, he's out cold," Harry groaned in annoyance that Harley actually thought that poking him could possibly wake him up. Harley rolled his eyes as he stood up, leaving the selfie stick next to Happy's motionless body.
Meanwhile, MJ was becoming fed up with Peter's constant pacing. She, and the rest of their friends, could clearly see that he was starting to lose his mind with worry, which was the least helpful thing at the moment.
"Sit down," MJ said to him in hopes that he'd calm down enough to think clearly. None of them could really be in the right state of mind while their superhuman friend was in panic mode.
"I can't-" He argued, and both Harry and Ned had to sit him down on a nearby bench. He seemed calmer, but not by much.
"Peter, just think for a second. Something isn't right," Ned exclaimed. It was pretty evident that something bigger was going on than just you going missing and Happy being knocked out.
"Yeah." Harley agrees, nodding his head while deep in thought, "Y/N goes missing, and Happy is out for the count."
"So someone took her?" Betty asks. Everyone was thinking it, but she was the first to say it aloud. It was scaring them how real this was starting to feel.
"Eloise," Peter huffed angrily. He should have known that she'd ruin everything, yet he allowed himself to let his guard down.
"Pete, Ellie didn't take Y/N," MJ sighed.
"Then who else could have?" He yelled. He was sick and tired of everyone seeing Eloise as an innocent misguided girl when in reality, she was the devil in disguise."I have told you guys since she moved here that she is bad news, but nobody listened! Now Y/N is gone, Happy is hurt, and I'm never going to see the love of my life again and-"
"Why would Eloise take Y/N?" Harley asked, not disagreeing with Peter though not wholly convinced. "What use would she have with her?"
"That's what I'm going to find out?"Peter stated as he stood up, his friends following close.
"You can't do that by yourself," MJ stated.
"I'll call Mr.Stark." ------------------------- "I dunno. It seems pretty clear that Y/N can't stand to be in the same room as him," Bucky stated bluntly, causing Steve to give him a light slap on the head.
"Buck," Steve scolded, but Bucky wasn't the only one who thought so.
"He has a point," Sam chimed in, although not wanting to be hit on the head like Bucky.
"Hey." Nat chastised. She's seen first-hand how much Tony cares about you. "It's pretty clear that Tony cares about Y/N. She is his daughter, after all."
"Does Y/N have a diary?" Rhodey asked, causing Pepper to glare at him.
"You're not going to read Y/N's diary," She states firmly. You deserve better than that. "That is a breach of privacy."
"So she has one?" Rhodey asks but quickly quiets down as soon as he sees the glare Pepper sends his way.
"Hey, it might give a reason for why she's so distant," Bucky mutters to the group, which provides mixed reactions. Few nod their heads in agreement, while few shake their head. Either way, they all have one thing in common, which is your best interests at heart.
"It might also give her a reason to distance herself even more. We want to gain her trust, not break it," Pepper argues sternly. She looks at Tony for backup, but one look at him tells that he is desperate for things to go back to the way they were.
"I'm gonna look," He finally says while getting up. Pepper gives him an incredulous look, so he continues, "Guys, this has gone too far. Whatever is wrong with Y/n has put her in danger. If Peter hadn't sensed that something was wrong, Y/N could be dead right now. I'm going to look."
For the past two weeks, he couldn't stop thinking about what could've happened at the bank. You could have died if Peter hadn't shown up. He was worried beyond belief that you'd not only die but die hating him.
"We all care about Y/N," Steve said, bringing some relief to Tony that at least someone was on his side. "She's a good kid, and as much as I disagree with invading her privacy, I do care about her safety. I think that any information could help. We need to get to the bottom of this."
Sighing, Pepper realized that maybe Tony and Steve were right. Something was going on with you, and she worried that it might get worse if something wasn't done soon.
"Well, I think it has something to do with that friend Y/N has been hanging out with," Bruce notes, causing everyone else to mumble words of agreement. Y/N hadn't started acting out until that troublemaker showed up.
"Agreed," Wanda said. "Nothing but trouble."
Everybody hesitantly makes their way into your room, and Nat's eyes immediately land on two flash drives, a red and a blue one,  next to your computer.
"Maybe these could be something?" She says, plugging the red flash drive into your computer. Suddenly, everything made sense. The flash drive was full of files about you that belonged to Hydra. It had almost everything to know about you, but the most concerning one shocked everyone.
"She knows I'm not her real dad," Tony sighs. Everybody, except for Pepper, seemed to be speechless. None of them woke up in the morning knowing that they'd find out that you weren't really Tony's daughter, much less discover that you had HYDRA files on your computer.
"What do you mean you're not her real dad?" Bucky asks, just as confused as everyone else.
"And you never thought to tell Y/N yourself?" Steve interjects sternly. This was something you had a right to know. Obviously, you'd get upset from finding out from someone else."Do you know who her real parents are?"
"That's not important," Tony snaps, causing Steve's blood pressure to rise. It seemed important enough to you for you to start shutting everyone out.  It's no wonder you couldn't trust anyone.
"It sounds like it is," He says coldly.
Before Tony could argue further, his phone started ringing. Judging from the ringtone, he could tell it was Peter, so he answered it quickly.
"What-?" Tony's exasperated voice was cut off by Peter's panicked rambling.
"Mr.Stark, Y/N's gone, and Happy is unconscious in the parking lot."
Everybody froze as soon as they realized what Peter was saying. Something had happened to you, and that was more important than finding out that Tony wasn't your biological dad.
"What?! What happened?"
"I don't know! She said she was going to the bathroom, and she never came back, and now Happy is lying unconscious in the middle of the parking lot, and I don't know what to do!"'
By now, everyone was panicking. This was definitely a million times worse than the bank incident because nobody knows where you are, who you're with, or what you're doing.
"Okay, just stay there. Someone will come to get you."
---------------
"Are you going to tell me what the emergency is?" You ask Ellie as she drives you towards the city. You didn't need super senses like Peter to know that this was beyond suspicious. It wasn't sitting well with you at all.
"Your dad is hurt," she muttered, but you heard her nonetheless.
"My dad?" Worry began to flow through you until you remembered that Ellie had no way to know something like that.  "How? He was at the compound-"
"Your real dad," she agitatedly reminded you as she rolled her eyes. It made your blood boil how rude she was being. This wasn't like her at all, and you couldn't help but want to get as far away as possible.
The rest of the car ride was silent until you arrived at Ezekiel's apartment. It didn't look any better than when you were last there. In fact, it looked more run-down than it was before.
The moment Ellie pulled out a key to unlock the apartment, your suspicion grew tenfold. Why would she have access to his apartment?
"What happened?" You sighed as you both entered the apartment to find Ezekiel sitting on the recliner with a bloodied rag pressed to his side. It looked like he had the injury, but the pain didn't seem as apparent as it should. Your "dad" wasn't any better than she was, but that didn't mean that you let him get hurt. Still, he gave you the same weird vibes that Ellie did.
"Tony Stark happened," he barked. He suddenly stood up and began going through his drawers and sloppily throwing. "We need to get somewhere safe."
"Not until one of you tells me what the hell is going on," You say. Things were going so well until Ellie showed up. Now you have a headache and a possibly massive problem in the form of two suspicious individuals.
"Stark found out that you've been meeting with me," he explained, but you weren't buying it. The only people who knew were You, him, and Ellie. You even made sure that you weren't being followed.
"How?" You ask, crossing your arms, waiting for a good enough response.
"I don't know, but he showed up at my apartment and beat the living hell out of me," He retorted, his face scrunching up in anger.
You look at Ellie, who is standing by the door. To anyone else, it seems like she's just standing there, but you've had enough training from Nat and Bucky to know when someone is blocking an exit.
"I don't believe this." You mutter to yourself.
"You think I just happened to end up like this?" Ezekiel yells. You couldn't believe that you were stupid enough to fall for this. Their constant push for you to turn your back on your family was a huge red flag that you ignored. Not to mention you haven't forgotten that time that Ezekiel forgot your mom's name.
"What do you need my help with?" You ask, realizing that the only way out of this is to play along.
"I need you to help me destroy the Avengers."
Wanda Maximoff x Reader "CONFESS!"
Tumblr media
Word count: 2594
Warnings: Things get a little steamy, but NO SMUT!!! I'M NOT READY FOR THAT!!!
After a lil downer party of Tony’s, Y/N steals wanda away so they can actually enjoy the night and get a breather. One thing leads to another and they're confessing their love for each other. <3
You’ve lost count of how many parties Tony Stark has thrown so far in the year. In only the 3rd month of the year, you’ve exceeded 10 parties. You didn’t really socialize with strangers, mostly keeping to yourself or one of the Avengers. Natasha was normally good company, or Steve. Keeping your drink close to you, a hand over top of it, you barely hang onto a conversation between Rhodey and some stranger he’d dragged you to meet. You glance around the room, trying to wake up your eyes before they drift shut. Over on the other side of the large room sits Wanda, looking bored as all hell, but mostly uncomfortable. She’s not one to put herself out there either. You figure Rhodey won’t notice if you slip away, as he is too caught up in trying to tell his “lookin’ for this” joke for the millionth time.
You make your way over to the lonely witch, weaving past moving bodies and avoiding those who might call for you. You grab a drink from the bar for Wanda as you move. Holding the two drinks, you nearly get knocked over as a rambunctious Thor tells tales of Asgard and shows off Mjölnir.
You finally reach Wanda, breathing a sigh of relief from your little journey.
“You look like you could use a drink.” You greet her, offering the full glass in your hand.
Her head spins to look at you, a bit surprised at your sudden appearance. She mutters a small thanks, taking the glass and holding it in her lap as she flashes you a small smile.
“I’ve lost count of how many parties he’s thrown.” You comment, taking a seat next to her.
“Too many.” She replies, looking down as she swishes the drink around.
You look over at her, taking her all in. Her red jacket seems to give her a sense of security as she pulls it tighter around herself. She avoids looking at anyone, uneasily shifting in her seat. Her red hair is pulled back into a loose ponytail, a few pieces of hair falling to the side of her face, framing it beautifully.
You hesitantly put a hand on top of one of hers in an attempt to show her some sort of comfort. You glance around the room at all the people before looking back at her, finally meeting her eyes.
“I’m sure Mr. Stark won’t mind if we went somewhere else.” You suggest. “What do you say?”
Wanda just looks at you, and then looks away, keeping her eyes down as she plays with her drink some more. You wait patiently for her to think about what she wants to do.
“I think that would be relieving for me.” She responds, her soft sokovian accent drifting through the noisy air with ease.
You stand, setting down your nearly finished drink and offering your hand for her to take. A small, comforting smile graces your lips as you await her next move. She easily accepts your hand and sets her drink down next to yours, standing up next to you. You gently pull her along with you as you weave the two of you through the noisy bunch of Avengers and strangers. You pull her towards the elevator, looking back at her every now and then as you continue forward. Finally reaching the elevator, you escape the crowd with Wanda. You quickly press the button, calling the lift to the floor. You impatiently wait for the ding, bouncing on your toes.
The sudden ding nearly makes you jump as you snap your head to the doors that are sliding open. You extend your hand, motioning for Wanda to step in ahead of you. You follow her in and hear the doors close and block out the majority of the noise from the party.
“Where do you want to go?” You ask, leaning slightly her way in question.
Wanda contemplates for a moment, rubbing at her hands. “Jarvis?”
“Yes, Miss Maximoff?” The AI responds. “Can you take us to the roof?” She requests, looking up, though there is nothing to look up to.
“Right away, Miss.” Jarvis responds.
The elevator starts up, bringing the two of you higher. The ride up is quiet as the two of you breath sighs of relief and begin to relax.
“Thank you.” Wanda finally speaks.
“Don’t mention it.” You softly smile at her. “You looked like you needed a getaway.”
“I did.” She lets out a tired chuckle, moving some of her hair out of her face.
The elevator dings, signalling that you’ve reached the top floor. The doors slide open, allowing the two of you to step out.
“After you.” You offer.
The two of you find the door out to the roof of the large tower. You step outside first, holding the door open for Wanda. She ducks her head in thanks as she steps through. You let go of the door, allowing it to shut as you follow her. She wanders around the roof a bit before settling on a spot. You take a stand to her right, staying quiet as to not disrupt her peace. The cool winds of midnight New York City ruffle your hair, throwing a few strands in your face. You opt to ignore it as you look around the lit up city. You watch billboards flash their ads as people hustle and bustle around the streets. Your gaze finally settles on Wanda. The glow of the city lights reflect in her eyes and illuminate her features. The wind does less justice for her hair, having her constantly have to hold it back out of her face to the point where she, too, gives up trying to manage it. She takes a deep breath, inhaling the fresh city air and closing her eyes as she lets it all back out. The silence stays comfortable as the two of you watch over the city, enjoying this peace from the party.
“I can’t hear them anymore.” Wanda finally says, breaking the mutual silence.
You look back at her, tilting your head and humming, asking her to clarify what she meant.
“Back down there, everyone’s thoughts were so loud,” she begins, “it was hard to shut them out. It was all a jumble of senseless words coming from all directions.”
You hum once again, acknowledging her statement. You can’t imagine having not only people's voices assault your ears, but also their thoughts invading your head, whether they be good or bad thoughts. You shift closer to her, unsure of whether you should respond or what to do next.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you back there.” She speaks again, shifting over and leaning her head on your shoulder.
“You looked miserable,” you speak softly, “how could I leave you to silently suffer?”
You hesitantly put your arm around her, pulling her just a little bit closer and making sure she knows you’re not bothered by her actions. The two of you stand with each other for a while longer, the nippy air finally driving you to go back inside.
“You’re cold…” Wanda notices. “You should go back inside before you freeze.”
“I’m fine with whatever.” You remark. “I’ll go wherever you need me.” You offer.
She pulls away from you, grasping your hand to bring you back inside to the warm tower. She leads you back to the elevator. “Why don’t we go to my place?” She offers, stepping through the opening doors.
“Wherever you want, Wanda.” You give her a smile.
To your joy, she cracks a smile as well before instructing Jarvis to take the two of you to her floor.
“You’re a good friend.” Wanda says. “Thank you for staying with me.”
“You’re fun to be around.” You smile.
“Yeah, well, I can be a downer.” She responds.
“Sometimes, but everyones like that on occasion.” You assure her. “Myself included.”
“I guess.”
You look over at her, watching her shuffle and play with her hands. “Is there something bothering you?”
She opens her mouth to speak, but closes it, opting to not tell you what’s going on in that pretty head of hers.
“That’s okay, you don’t have to tell me.” You back off.
“No, it’s just-” she starts, “I don’t know how to tell you.”
“That’s okay, when you’re ready.” You give her a reassuring nudge.
“Thanks…” She mumbles shyly, tucking another strand of hair out of her face.
You can hear her breaths getting deeper as she tries to urge herself to tell you what she wants. You try to think of a way to relieve some of the awkwardness in the small moving room.
“Y/N?”
“Yes, Wanda?”
“If you were attracted to someone, like, you want to be around them all the time, and hug them, and, I don’t know, kiss them; how would you go about telling them?” She asks finally.
You think for a moment. “Not exactly sure what I’d do. I’d probably be too scared to bring up such a thing.” You begin. “It sounds like being in love with someone. Is that what you’re asking about?”
“I think so… Yeah.”
“Well, then, I’d probably want to spend time with the person and make sure they don’t hate me. If I could gain the courage and I know this feeling is real, I’d probably whisk them away for a day and find some way to confess. When the moment’s right, y’know?”
Wanda just nods from beside you. “And how would you confess?”
“I’d probably just say something along the lines of: ‘Hey, I think I like you, like, a lot. I just think you’re really pretty, and smart, and I know you think you’re not important, but to me you are. And, well, I think I’m in love with you.’” You try to give her some sort of advice to go off of.
The elevator is silent again as it nears it's stop quicker and quicker. “And, if they wanted, I’d probably kiss them, y’know? With their consent of course.”
“May I ask why you’re asking me this?” You force yourself to ask her. “Is there a certain someone who’s stolen your heart?”
This is the moment your heart could flutter, or drop. It beats hard and quick in your chest as you try to prepare yourself for her answer.
“Yes.” Wanda answers, her voice nearly a whisper.
You swear your heart’s stopped at her response. The silence is deafening. You quickly push those feelings aside, wanting to avoid making this conversation awkward.
“So, is it a he? Or is it a her? Or maybe a they?” You lightly tease, trying to keep the atmosphere comfortable.
Your enthusiastic questioning earns a giggle from Wanda and you can see a blush covering her cheeks as she tries to hide it.
“Is it someone I know?” You ask her.
“Maybe…” She giggles.
“Is it someone on the team?”
“Maybe.” She teases again.
“Is it… Vision?” You guess. “I know you two get along pretty well.”
“Uh... no.” She answers, laughing at your teases.
“Okay, you’re not gonna tell me…” You squint your eyes playfully at her.
“Who said I’m not going to tell you?” She teases back.
“I don’t know, maybe it's because you refuse to answer my questions.”
“I was answering your questions, just not what you wanted to hear.” She teases again.
“Alright, then who is it?” You ask, your heart picking up again.
She mumbles something, low enough that you can’t make out what it was. You tilt your head.
“What was that?” You ask, a tease still evident in your tone.
“You!” She blurts.
Her hand immediately flies over her mouth and she panics, backing herself into the corner of the small room. You’re stunned for a moment and you stand still, processing what you just heard.
“Y/N, I’m sorry, I-”
You finally look at her, a smile beginning to take over your lips.
“Please. Don’t apologize.” You quietly tell her. “I… I like you too, Wanda. A lot.”
You offer her another smile, hoping she will calm down and not be so embarrassed. You watch her release the breath she’s been holding and she visibly relaxes a bit.
“Y-you do?” She asks, dropping her hand from her face.
You nod at her confidently.
“Can I…?”
You nod again. She approaches you, placing a soft hand on your cheek, her eyes sparkling as she gazes into yours. Your gaze falls to her lips and you subconsciously lick your own. She catches this and gently captures your lips in hers. Her other hand comes up to hold your other cheek as she pulls you closer into her. Your own hands fly to her waist, pulling her flush against you by her hips.
The kiss starts off soft, gentle, trying to find the right pace, but as it progresses, the two of you want more. Just as Wanda’s about to deepen it, a clearing throat interrupts and the two of you fly away from each other, pinning yourselves to the walls of the small room, both of your faces glowing bright red as your breathing quickens. Natasha stands on the other side of the open doors, her arms crossed over her chest and a small smirk playing at her lips.
“H-how long have you… have you been there?” You sheepishly ask, trying to find words and get yourselves out of this awkward situation.
“Long enough. Door’s been open a while.” Natasha responds.
“O-oh.” You look down, completely embarrassed by the sudden turn of events.
Silence fills the area for a moment before Natasha breaks it once more. “Well, are you getting off?” She prompts.
“Yes, yes ma’am.” You stutter, quickly pulling Wanda out with you to allow Natasha her ride.
“You’re lucky it was me and not anyone else.” She teases before calling out to Jarvis. “See you ‘round, Lovebirds.”
The two of you look at each other and as soon as the doors close, the two of you make a run for Wanda’s room. Once you’re in, Wanda quickly shuts and locks the door and the two of you take a moment to recover from what just happened.
You look at Wanda and the two of you share the same thought as she surges forward to continue what you two started. This kiss begins rough, but the two of you quickly find a perfect rhythm. Wanda continues to walk into you, wanting to be even closer. Her arms wrap around your neck and yours find their way around her waist, pulling her with you by her back. You begin to bump into objects and furniture, quickly catching things as they fall and placing them back upon their surfaces.
“That’s hot.” Wanda mutters, allowing the two of you to regain some breath before continuing.
She continues walking you back, this time guiding you around objects. She continues to guide you around her room, walking you backwards towards the bed. You know exactly where you are when the back of your heel knocks into the leg of it.
“It’s getting a little hot in here.” Wanda husks.
“Would you like to take off your jacket?” You respond suggestively, quickly helping her peel it off.
“Aren’t you a bit hot too?” She suggests, smirking against your lips.
You tear your jacket off as quick as you can so you can hold her again. The two of you are a tangle of bodies, trying to get more of the other.
“Shall we take this a step further?”
        “Tony...” James started, looking off to the side at the man’s confession. “Are you alright? Where is this coming from?” They didn’t dare think Tony would actually go for them. Not after all this time. Not after Tony had been with so many models and actresses and the like. Jim wasn’t at all self-conscious normally...but matching up to people like that? Add to that Tony’s tendency to jump into things without thinking it through and James wouldn’t be surprised if this was simply a...a whim of the billionaire’s. Though they hoped it wasn’t.
        “Dunno if you’ve realized, it’s been a long time since we met, Tones.”
The Stark cottage was covered in a fresh blanket of snow, the cold wind and fluffy snowflakes blowing by as you and Stephen stepped through the portal and began to walk up to the porch and front door. The beautiful area dashed in white and the house decorated with bright lights and wreaths gave you the impression that this Christmas day would be an amazing one.
You kicked the snow off your boots and shook out your hair of snowflakes, Stephen following your actions as you both got under the dryness of the front porch. It was not snowing this much in the city so you did not expect to be bombarded with snowflakes. You reached forwards to knock on the door with your free hand, the other holding a plate stacked with your famous sugar cookies that were a hit every year. Stepping back to stand beside Stephen, you looked up at him and smiled. The happiness on your face made him crack a warm smile of his own.
This was the first Christmas since the blip, since Thanos was taken down and everyone that flew away as ash had returned. To Stephen, it was just another Christmas, but he knew you had a few without him and that brought a little sadness to his heart. You had told him that during those years you would spend Christmas day with the Stark family, making festive memories and teaching Morgan how to make your cookies. By the way you told the stories he knew you loved it, but deep down he could tell that with him gone it was missing something.
This morning he made sure to make you pleased, to make up for all those missed years without him. Christmas morning was just perfect. Just the two of you waking up in the Sanctum without a worry, exchanging the gifts you got each other and sharing a beautiful morning. You couldn't ask for a better Christmas, but it was just getting started.
Again you were invited for Christmas dinner with the Starks, a few more people attending alongside you this year. You brought along all the gifts you got everyone and were just waiting to step out of the cold and into the warmth of friends.
The door swung open, Pepper instantly greeting you with a big grin and a hug. She let you both in out of the freezing cold. The smell from the kitchen hit you, hinting to you the amazing meal Pepper always made every year. You saw that Happy, Rhodey, and May were already here and lounging in the living room, soon the house was full of greetings and wishing each other Merry Christmas. Pepper took your plate of cookies, allowing you to take off your coat and boots. She admired how beautifully decorated they were. Then you could hear sets of footsteps running their way down the hallway followed by excited giggles.
"Uncle Stephen!" Morgan ran up to him and jumped on him before he got the chance to do anything else and gave him a big hug. He was occupied with carrying the bags of gifts you two had brought, so he put them down so he could kneel down to her height and hug her back.
While you smiled at the two, someone dashed up to you and hugged you as well. It was Peter who gave a cheery "Merry Christmas, (Y/N)!" as he threw his arms around you. You hugged him back, glad Pepper was now holding your plate of cookies. He might have knocked them right out of your hand.
"Whoa cool necklace!" Peter pointed to the pendant that was around your neck, instantly recognizing what it was. It was your present from Stephen, he had got a necklace made to look like the Eye of Agamotto, a golden eye with a little shining emerald in its centre.
"Thanks," You smiled, kissing the sweet boy on the cheek, "It's my gift from Stephen."
Peter then held up his fist towards Stephen, enthusiastically asking for a fist bump with a dumb grin on his face. Stephen playfully rolled his eyes and accepted before the teenager surprised him with a hug.
You looked down saw the little girl looking up at you with excited eyes. "Come here you!" Morgan leaped up onto you in a hug as you laughed and spun her around. Her adorable giggle made you want to keep squeezing her in hugs, but you put her down so she would not get dizzy. "Merry Christmas honey."
She looked like she was about to say something to you but she caught sight of the thing her mother was holding. "Cookies!" Morgan cheered at the sight of the plate you brought.
But Pepper held them up above her so she could not reach, "No, not till later." Morgan pouted.
"Can I help with anything, Pepper?" You asked, helping Stephen to put your bags of gifts under the brightly coloured tree.
"I could use a little help with bringing the snacks and appetizers out, thank you (Y/N)."
"Does that involve (Y/N)'s cookies?"
"No Morgan."
~~~
"So I take the tank, fly it right up to the general's palace, drop it at his feet. I'm like 'Boom! You looking for this?'"
Stephen just looked at Rhodey. He then realized it was supposed to be funny, but it was not. Rhodey looked disappointed that he did not laugh, but Happy was laughing at Stephen's blank expression.
"Why does that story never hit anymore?" Rhodey mumbled into his glass as he took another drink.
"Well, how you became War Machine does sound like an adventure." Stephen tried to clear up the slight awkwardness as he smiled.
"He tells that one all the time." Happy said, "That line used to be funny-"
"Hey!"
Happy continued, "but it's gotten old."
"Okay Happy, that's enough." Rhodey tried to change the subject.
As if in answer to his prayers, it did as Peter and Morgan entered the living space, wearing their winter coasts and covered in scarves, hats, and mittens. Morgan was clearly missing one of her fuzzy socks and she was skittering around the room, looking on the rug and between the armchairs to find it.
"What are you two up to?" Stephen asked, giving Peter a look of curiosity.
"We're gonna go outside!" Peter replied, giving a smile like a six-year-old trapped in a teenager's body.
"I can't find my fuzzy sock!" Just then she found it by the Christmas tree and quickly put it on. "Found it! Okay, I'm ready!"
"But it's starting to turn into a blizzard out there." Happy pointed out.
"Well, we wanted to have a snowball fight," Peter whined.
"Snowball fight?" Rhodey asked, sounding intrigued. "Count me in!"
"Yay!" Morgan shouted.
Happy looked at the face Peter was giving him. Like the boy was trying to convince him to come too. He gave in. "Alright me too I guess."
"Stephen, come on you too." Rhodey encouraged.
The little girl hopped over to him, pulling at his sleeve. "Come on, uncle Stephen. Come play with us." He saw the excitement in her eyes, also the fact that her coat was a little too big for her body made her too cute to say no to.
Stephen looked at the bottom of his glass before shrugging and downing it in one swig. "Okay, wait for me."
Morgan and Peter cheered in content. The group all got on their winter gear and slipped outside into the cold snowfall for some fun.
~~~
You entered the living room to find it empty, swearing to yourself that you heard voices just a minute ago. There were half-empty glasses of drinks and eaten snack platters on the coffee table, signs of people but no one was there. You laughed a little but also wondering where everyone had gone so fast. Placing down a plate of finger sandwiches you were asked to put out, you straightened out a little of the messiness that had occurred since you last were out here.
Pepper and May were in the kitchen, starting to plate dishes and clean up with your help as dinner was going to be ready to serve soon. As you organized the coffee table, you noticed the roaring fire in the fireplace. The brightness called to you, you had to go and warm your hands near it afterwards. But while doing so something caught your attention.
There were a few framed pictures on the mantelpiece that instantly caught your eye. The first one was of Peter giving Morgan a piggyback ride, the smiles on their faces making it all the more wholesome. The next was one you took yourself and sent to Pepper. One of a candid picture of Morgan, Peter, and Stephen when you all went to an amusement park together, the carnival lights lighting up their laughter filled faces after Peter had dropped his ice cream cone down the front of his shirt. You were surprised she framed it, which made you feel really good.
The last one pulled a certain string in your heart. It was a picture that was taken a while ago. Near the beginning of those long five years of darkness. But this picture told you that it was not all darkness in those times. In it was a tiny Morgan, Pepper, you, and Tony having a picnic beside the lake. The memory of that day, the memory of Tony that day, came rushing back to you. You remembered Happy had taken that picture, right before Tony dragged him out to the lake to test out a little boat. Neither of them knew how to use a paddle as someone else was trying to do the same and ended up crashing the boat. You and Pepper laughed so hard when those two came back soaking wet in lake water, tiny Morgan just giggling as she did not know what was happening.
You huffed out a laugh at the memory as you looked at the picture. Then you thought about what it would be like if Tony were here now. Making everyone laugh and cracking remarks in between eating the snacks that were out. Constantly trying to get on Stephen's nerves on purpose. He would see how much Morgan has grown and just how much she has become like him.
You wondered if he was seeing you all now. His family, not just by blood but everyone in this house tonight, is still stuck together even without its glue.
The idea made your cheek twitch. You missed him so much. At that moment you realized that even with this being the first Christmas having Stephen back, it was also the first with having Tony gone. You told yourself you would not get sad about it as you returned to the kitchen.
"Everyone is just gone." You said, capturing the attention of the two others in the room.
"What?" Pepper exclaimed, looking up from spooning finished roasted carrots onto a dish.
"Yeah. I just heard talking in the living room a few minutes ago. Now it's empty."
"That's weird. I'm sure they haven't gone too far."
"Found them." May was leaning over the counter and looking out the window, a smile on her face. Pepper joined her, letting out a chuckle at what she was seeing.
You moved in between Pepper and May to glance out the window, and sure enough, there was a sight that made you smile widely. Outside in the backyard in the fresh and perfect snow, everyone was in the middle of an intense snowball fight. Snowballs were flying everywhere and the sounds of their faint laughter obstructed by the windows. The group did not seem to be bothered by the freezing cold or the continuous snowflakes that were becoming so large that were falling from the sky.
Stephen was cheating. He was using his magic to quickly form snowballs to help his teammate, Peter, attack the other team of Happy, Rhodey, and Morgan. You noticed how unfair it was that Stephen and Peter had the advantage of both of them having powers of some kind. But everyone looked like they were having fun regardless of the disadvantage some had. The smiles on their faces and their snow-covered winter clothes and their blushing cheeks from the cold made your heart warm.
Seeing them together, having all of you together, was something you would not trade anything for. To have this family together after so many years of being apart. And you had one person to thank for that. Sadly he was not here, but you knew in spirit he was.
Dinner was so close to being ready and the sun was getting low towards the horizon. You decided to call everyone in to warm up. They all came in, covered in snow and trembling from the cold. You, Pepper, and May helped the group shake the snow off their coats. Just to mess with you, Stephen grabbed your bare forearms and kissed you on the cheek; hands and lips freezing cold which caused you to jump back. He chuckled and threatened to do it again but you hopped out of his reach just in time. May started up a kettle to make hot chocolate for the snowball fight participants while you and Pepper worked on the finishing touches on a few dishes.
The whole family was in the kitchen, laughing and having a beautiful Christmas. The Stark family.
Natasha Romanoff x Reader : Her Other Family
As requested by @slvt-4-bees Hope this meets your expectations and thanks so much for the request!
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1,826
******
The anxiety that’s coursing through you right now would worry even the most oblivious of people.
You wring your fingers together as you pace the floor of your bedroom, thoughts running a mile a minute.
“I’m almost positive the neighbors are gonna make a complaint soon if you don’t stop.” Your girlfriend speaks, eyes watching your form.
Bringing your hand up to your face, you continue the unhealthy habit of biting your fingernail(yes just the one, on your thumb).
“Look I didn’t think it’d stress you out. You don’t have to come if you don’t wa-“
“I want to!” You cut her off,“ I just- they’re the Avengers.”
Natasha lets out a small laugh,“ I’m an Avenger.” She reasons.
“That’s different.” You wave her off.
Jokingly offended, she asks,“ how!?”
“Tasha you walk around here in light pink fuzzy socks and pout when I don’t bake you cookies.”
Admittedly, yes, Natasha is very soft for you. But having not met her other family you aren’t aware of how soft they actually are.
That is to change though, tonight at Tony’s costume party. With the man having plans with his daughter on Halloween, he planned this party so he could celebrate with his team(and it’s Tony of course he wouldn’t pass up a chance to have a party).
Standing up, Natasha steps in front of you, her hands gripping your shoulders,“ Y/N, love, it’s just a party and they are normal people.”
When you look into her forest eyes you can’t help but take in her assuring words. After a deep breath, you nod, and mentally agree to calm down and let things happen.
For the couple hours you have before the party you hang out with Natasha: helping dye each other’s hair for your costumes and then cuddling on the couch and talking about her team(you didn’t want to go in with only the knowledge you got from the media).
Soon enough the two of you are getting dressed.
You stand in front of the mirror, wiggling your hips as you pull the small red and black shorts up your legs, then tugging on the matching corset. As you’re fixing your hair Natasha walks out of the bathroom.
E/C eyes trail up the expanse of her body, over the green knee high boots, nude colored stockings, and green one piece. The plastic leafy material covers all the important parts of her body but leaves her legs, cleavage, and arms exposed.
Looking at her now, a big part of you wants to negate the whole party plan just to stay here and ravage her.
Natasha shares the same adage, biting her lip as she takes in your costume clad body. With a smile, she stands behind you, admiring how good you two look together in your costumes.
“If this party weren’t so important to the team I’d tie you to the bed right now.” She whispers against the shell of your ear.
A tingle travels through your body at her words and it takes everything in you to push away from her. It takes even greater strength to actually get out of your apartment with Natasha constantly putting her hands on your body. Even on the ride over her hand remains on your thigh.
You’d heard about Tony Starks legendary parties, you’d even treated a couple patients with broken bones who came from said parties to the urgent care clinic you work at. And all those stories are completely true.
The party is in full swing when you and Natasha arrive. People move about the large space dressed in a variety of costumes, drinks flow freely from the bar and the DJ in the far corner fills the room with music as orange lights strobe. If you didn’t know any better you’d think a teenager planned this.
At your moment of entry, you’re greeted by the first two members of her team. Clint, her best friend/brother who you’d met before, approaches in a leather Green Arrow costume accompanied by a pretty brunette in a Wonder Woman outfit.
“Nat, Y/N, you made it.” Clint wastes no time pulling you both into a hug.
You chuckle and return it,“ it’s good to see you too Clint.”
The brunette looks on curiously, urging you to nudge Natasha a little to introduce you.
“Right, Y/N this is my friend and teammate Wanda. Wanda this is Y/N, my girlfriend.”
Wanda didn’t need more explanation than that. She’d seen the illuminating grin on Natasha’s face when she’d get texts from you or the same grin that appeared when she left the compound every night. Wanda now knows the source of Natasha’s happiness.
She immediately pulls you into a hug, gushing about how good it is to meet you and how much she loves your costume.
“Thank you so much. I love yours too. Wonder Woman is a brilliant choice.”
A thankful smile plays on her face,“ oh thanks. It was suggested by Clint’s daughter. If not for her I’d be in my mission gear.”
You laugh at that, the four of you heading deeper into the party.“ Like Iron Man over there.” Natasha laughs as well.
Tony is indeed in his Iron Man suit, arm wrapped around Rhodey(who’s dressed in a black suit with black glasses) in front of the DJ’s set up.
“Did he paint his suit orange and black?” You squint trying to see clearly through the lights.
“Yes, yes he did.” Wanda nods.
An unfamiliarly smooth voice joins the conversation,“ cause he’s dramatic as hell.”
All your gazes turn to the source. A dark skinned man dressed in silk boxing shorts and a matching robe stands at the bar.
“I think he has a reason to be. Or at least the goods to back it up.” You retort.
Tony’s a billionaire and a genius. Alongside being among the heroes who saved the universe, he’s lead groups and contributed to organizations that better the world. He(if anyone) deserves to relish in the spotlight.
The “boxer’ scoffs,“ if you wanna talk about the goods to back it up why d-”
Before he can even finish, an arm circles around your waist. The familiar woodsy and cinnamon scent relaxes you,“ Wilson, always looking for an excuse to have your shirt off.”
It’s not lost on you that this is a possessive move. Wilson was clearly about to pull some corny ass line but Natasha was not about to have it. Your her girl.
“Don’t act like you aren’t impressed Romanoff.” He smirks back.
You raise an eyebrow at her, only playing,“ are you impressed Romanoff?”
Suppressing a laugh, Natasha shakes her head,“ not at all. But I’m sure you know exactly how to impress me.” Her voice drops seductively as well as her hand on your waist.
“Woah woah. Is this- is this a thing?” Wilson points between you and Natasha.
“Sam, this is my girlfriend, Y/N.” Natasha introduces you,“ Y/N this is Falcon, aka bird boy, aka Sam.”
You extend a hand to him,“ nice to meet you Bird Boy.”
Addressing him as that made Wanda, Clint, and Natasha laugh.
Luckily the laughter continued through the night. The four of you stuck close through the party, drinking(all of you except Natasha who’s driving you two home later), and talking. Sam popped up every so often to join conversations.
It wasn’t until the party started to end that you met the rest of the Avengers.
In a way that seems completely routine, the team grabs drinks, and heads to a seating area. Natasha fixes you a f/d and tugs your hand.
Tony, who’s now removed the Iron Man suit, frowns at you, that frown directing to your hand linked with Natasha’s.
“Am I missing something here?” He asks.
“Just an introduction.” Your girlfriend teases, pulling you on to the couch between her and Wanda, who you admittedly hit it off with.
Not that you were ranking Natasha’s teammates but you like Wanda the most. She’s a very genuine person, giving off a warm and welcoming vibe.
Everyone waits for Natasha to introduce you, eyes widening and eyebrows raising when she says you her girlfriend.
“Y/N that is Steve and Bucky,” she points to the blonde and brunette men in Dodgers uniforms,“ that’s Thor,” another blonde man but he’s dressed as Superman,“ and obviously that’s Tony and Bruce.”
Thor very loudly and boisterously speaks of how nice it is to meet you. Bucky and Steve make mention of how they’re glad you make Natasha happy. Bruce’s reaction is hard to put a single emotion on, but he seems okay with your presence. And Tony, surprisingly, is pretty excited to get to know you.
Over the next couple of hours you see how chaotic the seemingly put together group of heroes actually is. As drinks flow further they fall into teasing but playful banter and they include you in it as if they’d known you for years. Until it shifts to childish games, mainly being that of lifting the hammer.
Natasha whispers in your ear that it’s basically a party tradition to do so. They reason that one of them could very easily have become worthy over the time that’s passed between parties.
“Y/N, you’re up.” All eyes fall to you as Tony calls you out.
Eyes wide, you look around at them,“ what about Natasha?” You point out.
They all laugh at that, saying how Natasha doesn’t participate in this.
“Why not?”
Natasha chuckles,“ cause love, I can’t lift it.”
“Like hell! You wouldn’t know, apparently you haven’t tried.”
The team instigates it, ‘ooo’s ringing out.
Letting out a sigh, Natasha rolls her eyes, and stands. Everyone’s eyes widened to the size of saucers.
Her slender fingers wrap around the handle of the hammer, she sends an uncertain look receiving a challenging eyebrow from you, before she pulls.
When nothing happens, Tony is quick to mention that it’s rigged. For the hell of it you go over and attempt to but it doesn’t move.
Faking upset, you fall on to the couch beside Natasha,“ I thought I was worthy.” You pout.
The team watches in slight awe at how soft Natasha responds to you.
“Awe, lyubov moya, you are worthy of all the stars. That hammer obviously uses fingerprint recognition.” She presses a kiss to you temple making you smile.
“Isn’t that sweet.” Tony mocks.
Sam rolls his eyes,“ so Romanoff is soft, huh?”
The Black Widow mask slips on instantly as she levels Sam with a glare,“ I won’t hesitate to kick your ass.”
He makes his next statement as he runs away and your girlfriend chases after.
With everyone laughing at the two around you, you can’t even remember why you had been so anxious in the first place. More than anything you find yourself looking forward toy getting to know Natasha’s other family better.
Miss Velvet
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Y/N is a disabled equestrian and therapeutic riding instructor who helps Tony Stark with his PTSD after returning from Titan. When the Avengers bring everyone back he hires her to work with Avengers and SHIELD hires her as therapist and teaching basic riding skills because you never know when a horse will be the best mode of transportation.
Bucky Barnes is a manwhore who is enjoying his freedom for the first time in decades and pays no mind to y/n when she meets the team because he learned to ride from Hydra and too is busy pursuing his next conquest.
Post Endgame but everybody survived, because I said so. And Steve helped get Sharon Carter pardoned so they are together.
Chapter 9
Warnings: angst, SWEARING, attempted blackmail
Velvet, Nat and Wanda head downstairs to the party to see many of the guests were already there. The pool was full and surrounded, there was a line at the bar and the bbq buffet.
Velvet tried to look for Bucky without being too obvious but couldn't see him so figured they needed to get deeper into the crowd. She heard Thor laughing about something and looked over to see him talking to Steve, Rhodey and Maria. She saw Tony and Pepper sitting by the pool watching Morgan showing off all the swim strokes she has learned. Nat and Wanda wander away from her to find their men.
She finally sees Sam and Bucky and waves, he smiles then frowns and looks away. Sam half waves then looks to Bucky to see what his deal is.
Velvet is hurt and turns away to hit the bar hoping some liquid courage will help. She needs to at least stay until everyone sings happy birthday to Steve and then she can sneak out and go home where Indy will console her. She takes a candy to help relax but it doesn't seem to help not even when combined with her drink. Velvet wanders aimlessly while carefully avoiding where Bucky is being courted by a group of agents, not seeing how he keeps looking at her instead of them.
After Steve is serenaded and his cake cut the fireworks begin and not just in the sky. Velvet sees a couple walk up to Bucky, pushing past his groupies and right into his space. The woman looks like she could be Janell from the back, but that's impossible because Friday would have seen her and notified Maria who is not behaving like she has heard anything.
Velvet pushes the button for Friday on her starkphone "Friday, has Janell Marshall returned to the compound?" "No Miss Velvet, I haven't seen her."
Bucky has been going nuts, not knowing what to do. He wants so badly to talk to her and be told that she knows but doesn't care and wants to give him a chance but he knows that's unlikely. He's watching her from his spot under a tree when a couple that he doesn't know comes up to him. The woman is short with long dark hair and seems familiar but he can't place her. The man is taller than the woman but shorter than Bucky and skinny like Steve used to be. The woman touches Bucky on the shoulder too intimately for someone he doesn't know and he pulls back.
"What's wrong Barnes? Don't recognize me? Doesn't matter, I've come to keep my promise to make you pay." She puts her hand over her face and pulls down removing the veil and showing her face.
"Janell" Bucky spits out, "Weren't you embarrassed enough at the stable that day? I'm not interested so leave me alone or I'll turn you in for harassment."
Janell grins "Don't worry about that, I'm over it but need to know if you got the package I sent you."
"No, I didn't get anything from you and I wouldn't open it if I did"
Janell's smile grows "but I want to show you something' and she reaches into her purse for an envelope then opens it and pulls out some pics and hands them to Bucky. 'Those' pics.
Bucky looks, his eyes grow wide and he growls "What kind of game are you playing, Janell?"
"The kind that I win. That's your precious Velvet a few years ago with my friend Roger here. I guess I was wrong about her being too goody goody for you, she might be too slutty for you."
"Shut the fuck up Janell, you are no one to be calling anyone else slutty"
Roger pulls his veil off and laughs "You're the one who wants my sloppy seconds, huh? I've see y/n fuck worse so I doubt she'll turn you down. Or is she still pretending that's her past? She's always come back to me. The blip might have slowed me down but I'm here to collect my property."
Bucky can barely control his rage and Sam puts his hand on his arm to remind him they aren't alone.
Velvet sees Roger and panics, unable to decide if she should confront him or run away. She doesn't get the chance to do either when she feels a hand grab her arm.
"I don't think so Miss high and mighty pricktease. I think you owe me a little something" and Velvet gasps as Matt Landers drags her towards the parking structure. "Surprised to see me sweetheart? I told you, my dad is a senator and you're nobody. Stark couldn't get rid of me and neither can you. At least not till I'm done with you. And if you ask anyone for help those pictures go on the web."
Velvet looks around and sees that everyone is too busy watching the fireworks to notice her distress, cringes "What do you want?"
"You know I'm not sure exactly. That night in the barn I just wanted to fuck you but you're little assassin toy hit me and then you humiliated me with Stark so we'll just have to play it by ear. I won't hurt you. Not too much."
Roger looks Bucky up and down "If it weren't for your metal arm I could totally take you."
Sam steps up "I don't have a metal arm"
Rogers eyes grow wide "I have no beef with you"
"If you're messing with my friends I have a beef with you and I have more to spare" Roger swallows and Bucky asks Sam
"Where did Velvet go?"
"I don't know Buck, I can't see her, man"
Their confrontation has drawn attention as the fireworks end. Nat recognizes Roger and grabs Bruce to help her investigate.
Roger looks at Janell "You told me no one would mess with us"
Janell laughs "don't be such a pussy, they won't do anything or those pics will go on the web. I told you all this already."
She faces Bucky with an evil grin "so Barnes, you are going to let us go because you should be more worried that my other associate has disappeared with your beloved while we distracted you."
Bucky looks around like a madman "who took her and where Janell?"
Janell laughs "I'll send you a text when he's done with her. Maybe. Of course it doesn't matter because Roger is taking her home. I promised he could have her when I found him in Cali. He really seems to miss her a lot."
Roger brags "she was one of my best whores. She would do anything for her next high. Anything."
Bucky roars "I promise I will come after you and you won't see me coming."
Sam looks at Bucky "dude, I know you're pissed but threatening a civilian in front of this many people is a bad idea"
Bucky gives Sam a dirty look "I don't have time to tell you how little I care. We have to find Velvet!"
Sam puts his hands up "ok man, I get it. What's the play"
Tony has been standing to the side listening to what's going on and told Friday to lock the compound down and kill any internet or phone signals as soon as he recognized Janell. He walks up casually "Hey, if its not that agent who was barely hanging by a thread but is now going to jail for blackmail and stealing my tech. And whoever her dirtbag date is."
Janell loses her composure for a minute then shakes it off. "As I've already told Barnes, mess with me and Velvet's graphic past hits the web"
Tony grins "Yeah about that, the compound is on lockdown and there's no signal so your other partner isn't going anywhere. Shouldn't have parked in the structure" Tony brings up the live feed of Matt in a truck trying to ram the barrier at the exit of the parking structure. Velvet unconscious in the back seat.
Janell starts laughing nervously "just a fun little prank, Velvet and I are like bff's we prank each other all the time."
Everyone but Bucky and Sam look at her like she's crazy. Bucky and Sam run towards the parking structure.
Tony asks "Did you really think that attempted blackmail and kidnapping were a good idea at an event full of your victims superhero friends? You really aren't smart enough for SHIELD. Maybe McD's will hire you after your release but I don't think you're even that smart. And your little friend, Roger is it? You thought Velvet was with the Winter Soldier but you could take her back and defend yourself from him? You two are made for each other. At least Landers tried to stay out of sight but he's not much of an improvement."
Nat walks up to Janell with the Big Guy standing behind her. She knows she could take these two out blindfolded with both hands tied behind her back but wants to see how scared they get. She starts laughing so hard she almost falls down when she sees liquid running down Rogers leg.
Tony sees and starts laughing "Please tell me someone has recorded this. Perfect to post on his social media. Now can someone please take out this trash."
Nat has finally caught her breath "lets go you two, you can stay in our holding cells while we figure out what to do with you. I'm sure General Ross will have some ideas."
Bucky beats Sam to Matt's truck and rips the back door off to get to Velvet "Velvet, Doll, are you ok?" Bucky is almost crying with relief when he sees her breathing and gently picks her up out of the car and heads towards the med Bay to have her looked at. On his way he sees Sam clothesline Matt and knock the wind out of him.
Sam looks over "She ok?"
"I think so but I'm taking her to be checked out. Can you call Helen to meet us there"
Sam nods and pulls Matt up by his upper arm. "Come on West Point, I don't think daddy can get you out of this one." Sam speaks again. "Friday can you tell everyone she's ok but ask Helen Cho to meet them in the med bay to make sure."
"Of course Captain Wilson, Miss Romanoff is taking the others to the holding cells" Sam heads towards the detainment area.
"Everyone knows I'm the last guy to stop a party but I think some legal issues need to be handled so, sorry. Better luck next time."
Once he hears that Velvet is ok Tony let everyone know and confiscated the cell phones of everyone who was recording advising them that they will need to make statements before they can get their phones back.
Once everyone is heading out the team heads to meet Nat and Sam in detention. Sam speaks up "so what are we doing with these fools? We should probably keep Bucky away from them. I don't think he could control himself anytime soon."
Steve nods, then grins evilliy at the detainees. "I'm not sure any of us would be much easier on them. Coming into our home and threatening one of our own. That's pretty serious."
Nat speaks up, "I have some thoughts' and the Big Guy next to her just grins and looks at the prisoners, Roger starts crying.
A couple of hours later Velvet starts waking up with a splitting headache and feels someone holding her hand. She tries to open her eyes but the light is too bright so covers her face with her other hand and mumbles "what the fuck happened? Where am I?"
A soft voice answers "You're in the med bay but you're ok"
Velvet looks at him "Bucky? What's going on." She tries to sit up but her head starts pounding and Bucky gently stops her.
"They gave you chloroform, you'll have a headache for a couple of hours"
"They? Wait Matt was taking me but why?"
"He conspired with Janell and Roger"
Velvet inhaled sharply and looks at Bucky "Roger? He's here? Oh my god, you did see the pictures. Oh no, Bucky please, please let me explain" she starts to tear up.
"Hey, hey it's ok I don't care about those pictures and neither does anyone else on the team. That's your past"
Velvet looks confused "then why haven't you called me or come by since you came back from that mission and why did you frown when you saw me tonite?"
Bucky sighs, "did Nat talk to you while I was gone?"
"About what?"
"About your accident and how I caused it. How I ruined your life. I didn't think you would want anything to do with me after she told you."
Velvet starts to roll her eyes but it makes her head throb "Could you maybe give me a little credit? I don't remember any of it but I have access to the internet. I've known for years, before I ever met Tony. I don't care. I know it wasn't your decision. Besides, my life is better now than it was before the accident. It was a rough road but I'd rather be here doing what I do than have all the Olympic medals in the world. What was it you just said about it's in the past?"
"Yeah but your past doesn't affect me, my past hurt you. Badly. You sure you don't care?" Bucky replies
"If I cared about your proximity to my accident then I would have said something when I went off on you for the desk thing"
"But, Bucky, my past can affect more than just you and me. General Ross could determine me a security risk and end my contract with SHIELD and demand that the team distances itself from me. The Avengers could be tainted and take a hit to their reputation and credibility. Tony could end my contract and kick me off of his land. If it gets out to the public it could ruin Serenity, no parent wants a drug addict whore around their kids."
Bucky squeezed her hands "We won't let any of that happen. I know Tony won't fire you and Ross can fuck off. I know for me if it's a choice between you and being an Avenger, you will always win." He kissed her forehead "Ok, I believe you don't care about my past. I should go now and let you get some rest"
Velvet shakes her head "no, you should ask Helen if I can go home and if it's ok you should take me home."
Bucky gets up to check with Helen and she says its fine but to make sure Velvet drinks plenty of water and gets some rest. Bucky comes back smiling, "you're all clear just have to hydrate and rest."
Tony strolls in "yay, she lives. You scared us for a minute there Miss. I'm just checking up on you and bringing a warning. Ross and Senator Landers will be here in the morning but we have a confession and multiple recordings of a good portion of the action so they can suck it. All three of tonites villains have some quality time with the American penal system in their future.
Barnes, take your girl home and make sure she gets some rest."
Bucky laughs "thats one order of yours that I can follow Stark. Come on, Doll. Let's get you home."
Velvet smiles as he picks her up bridal style "ok, I think I've had enough excitement for one night. You certainly throw a memorable party, Tony."
With a quick snap, I lit the old fireplace and felt the warmth spread across my legs. The orange glow lit up the old home as I walked through. It was now empty, being left abandoned the last 80 years. It looked completely different than when I was here a few hours ago but I couldn’t stop thinking of ways that I could fix up the holes in the walls and the missing floor boards.
The master bedroom and bathroom were what needed the most work and a slight fear of what I had gotten myself into creeped into my bones; a giant hole was directly in the middle of the floor.
“So this is what you wired the money for?”
Looking to the front doorway, I sighed when I saw Steve leaning against the doorframe.
“You followed me?”
He pushed himself off the frame, his large feet walking inside the old house. “It’s exactly like I remembered.”
“What are the odds you know your way with a hammer?” I somewhat jokes.
Steve laughed. “Not at all. That’s Bucky’s forte.”
I stuffed my hands deep into the pockets of my coat while Steve stood next to me as we both watched the fire dance.
“I can’t believe you bought Bucky’s childhood home,” Steve spoke after moments of silence.
“He deserves something good when he comes back,” I stated.
Steve looked over to me with a confused stare. “He has you.”
I shrugged. “I’ve done a lot of bad things the last five years and I don’t think Bucky could accept it.”
“You’re talking about The Winter Soldier,” Steve reminded me, bumping my shoulder with his own.
I looked around the run down house with a large sigh, knowing that there was going to be no way that I could get it fixed up in time. I wanted to surprise Bucky when the fight was over with his old home being fixed back to its former glory. He deserved a home to grow old in.
“Yikes, what are you two doing hanging out in this dump?”
Turning on my heels, I smiled at Natasha as she slowly maneuvered her way inside over the holes.
“Hey, this is my dump you’re shitting on,” I defended. “What are you doing here?”
She held up a bag of food. “Figured you two were hungry.”
We all sat on the floor in front of the fireplace, eating and laughing about old memories of us working together; before everything changed. I missed the way our banter bounced off each other, Nat and I giving Steve a hard time for how old he was.
“I missed this,” Natasha admitted.
“Me too,” I smiled. “I hope that after everything, we all can retire and enjoy the life we have left.”
“Soon this house will be filled with Bucky Jr’s running around,” Natasha winked at me.
I tensed up at the mention of kids and noticing the uncomfortable look on my face, he motioned towards the door.
“We should head back.” Steve helped me to my feet, giving my hand a squeeze.
He knew that I had reverted back to the dark hole with the mention of kids. I hadn’t coped with the loss, not wanting to come to terms that I could actually have a little Bucky Jr here with me right now.
Steve wrapped an arm around my shoulders leading me back to the Avengers Compound.
With a soft sigh, I turned over in bed, staring out the large windows. I could see the sun beginning to rise over the tree line, indicating that I hadn’t slept at all after returning back. Thoughts of the life I could have in this moment kept me awake.
How could I tell Bucky that we should have had a kid by now?
For a fast moment, I thought of not telling him, to spare him the pain of knowing that we lost a child in the snap. I hated, however, keeping secrets from him. He deserved to know the truth, about everything that happened the last five years.
Right?
With a loud groan, I tossed off the covers and forced myself to take a shower knowing that today was the day; the day that we would all go back in time to retrieve the infinity stones. I knew that it would work but there was a lingering fear that we wouldn’t get what we wanted without a price. It had always been like that for us, the Avengers. One of us always paid the price for our actions, one way or another.
Once dressed, I made my way down the elevator to the common area of the tower, where everyone else was waiting for my presence.
Nat, Clint, Rhodey, and Nebula were sitting at the large table watching as Bruce and Scott went over every detail about going back in time to them.
Tony and Thor were standing in front of the monitors with Carol, figuring out exactly where we needed to go to get the infinity stones.
And finally, Steve was sitting by himself in a chair on the other side of the room with a low scowl on his face. I had seen that same scowl many times in the past and it only ever meant one thing. Something heavy was on his mind.
“Someone’s in a cranky mood for it being so early in the day.” I joked as I sat in the other chair across from him.
The sight of me brought a smile to his face.
“Just thinking.” He stated.
“About what?”
I could see the hesitation on his face, knowing that he wasn’t sure if he should actually tell me what he was thinking.
“If this doesn't work, I don’t think I could take the feeling of failure from everyone; especially you. I don’t know what I would do if you hate me because I couldn’t bring Buck back for you,” Steve admitted with a sigh.
“Hey,” I spoke while lacing our fingers together, “I could never hate you, Steve. And this is going to work because it has too. We need to bring them all back, not only for me, but for all of us.”
I could see in his sad eyes that he still didn’t believe what I was saying so I gently leaned close to him, letting a soft kiss linger on his cheek for a brief second. Turning to look into my own eyes, we were meters apart and I felt his warm breath fan across my lips.
“I love you too much to ever hate you, Steve.” I muttered my admittance.
It was brief but I saw the way his eyes darted from my own down towards my lips, slowly licking his own. I couldn’t stop myself from slowly leaning closer to him, until a loud familiar voice sounded in my head, bouncing off my skull.
Dorogaya.
“Hey lovebirds, if you’re done staring lovingly into each other's eyes we can start the meeting now.”
We both sat back from one another, my glance now on Tony.
“What’s the plan?” I coughed, hoping that would hide the arousal and redness of my cheeks for what almost happened.
As Tony went over the teams and who was going where, I felt Steve’s eyes on me the entire time. Daring a glance over to him, my heart hammered in my chest when I saw the look of desire in his face.
I shifted in my seat once I heard my name being called.
“Jesus Tony, you’re making me feel like I’m in school again,” I said while crossing my arms.
“Well if you weren’t giving googly eyes to Rogers, you would have heard what I was saying and I wouldn't have to yell at you,” Tony stated.
All these years had passed since we fought together in New York and I still hated how much of an ass he was.
“You, Banner, Lang, and Steve are going back to New York in 2012 to retrieve the time, mind, and space stone. Thor and the badger are going back to 2013 Asgard to get the reality stone.”
“I’m a racoon,” Rocket interjected.
“Same thing,” I waved him off. “Rhodey and Nebula are going to hitch a ride with Natasha and I to Morag to get the Power Stone while Nat and I go to Vomir for the soul stone.”
Once finished, I smiled smugly at Tony, knowing that I in fact was listening to him go over the plan while staring at Steve.
Steve said back in his chair, mirroring his own smug smile, before looking at Tony.
“Anything else, Mr. Stark?” He joked.
Tony let out a deep breath while pinching his eyes. “Let’s get suited up then.”
Before we all left the room, I gave Steve a quick wink and followed Natasha to her living quarters so we could get suited up together.
