I dont even have real thoughts. Just,
When I was 10/11 and forced myself to move on from playing with my Barbie’s because I was exposed to society and growing up and it seemed like something I had to do. Going back for my dolls one day after months deciding I needed to do something I loved only to find out my mom threw them away because I stopped playing with them. Being devastated. This reinforcing that there is something wrong with me because I shouldn’t want to play with dolls anymore anyway. The barbie movie not quite healing that wound but softening the blow when I think about it now.
Getting my nails done in hot pink every time at 12 and then at 13 getting them in blue. Painting my nails pink two weeks ago because I was excited about the barbie move and feeling at peace.
Seeing my best friend since I was 9 in pink for the first time in I cant even remember and us both feeling nostalgic and free and beautiful.
Me being 14 and my brother being 11 and him discovering the patriarchy. Him making sexist jokes. Me screaming at him. My grandmother laughing at us fighting. Me crying about it to this day, even though I’m 22my brother is now 19 and nothing like that anymore. Me seeing myself in Barbie and my brother in ken as they grow apart and then back together. Realizing that even though Ken hurt Barbie, barbie is the one to tell him its ok in the end. Ken not apologizing. Seeing us in them once again and feeling an ache in my chest.
Wanting to watch the scene where Barbie says she doesn’t feel pretty anymore and why she doesn’t feel pretty. Why she doesn’t feel like who she is supposed to be. Her face. My face as I start crying. My heart breaking as I realize that I have felt that, and that if its being portrayed here that it’s a universal experience to have that breakdown, to have a friend say ‘you are beautiful, you are enough. You’re not wrong, the world is.’, to not believe them fully, though you do accept that they’re probably right. The fact that she’s not wearing makeup in that scene. She’s broken down into her barest form, and her barest form is wrecked because the world has fucked her up and made her think she’s not enough.
Barbie panicking as Mattel tries to literally put her in a box. The people that are technically responsible for her, the people who she believes will help her, are not only not who she thought they would be, but they try to put her back in a box. Her not being able to be put back into a box. She knows too much now. She’s seen and felt and thought too much. She can’t be what they want her to be even when they try to force her. Impossible standards not even ending with people you’re meant to trust. Barbie being alone in that moment. Barbie finding a friend who gets it and not being alone anymore. Barbie not realizing that until the friend refuses to let her drown. The friendships that women make under the pressure of the world being something so beautiful and heartbreaking and necessary.
Sasha being exposed to something good and nice in pink for once instead of something hating on whatever the pink thing is and slowly smiling more, becoming herself. How this exposure can help young girls so much. Before this not only hurting herself by distancing herself from her mom and feminism but also hurting other women in the face of the pain society has slowly caused her because she has given up on herself and on society the way society has given up on her and itself.
in the end, Barbie not even advocating for herself even after everything she’s learned about feminism and what the world with do to women who let it swallow them whole. Sasha, who previously was not much of a girls girl, being the one to say “What about Barbie?” Everyone saying “Yeah, actually, what about Barbie?” Because she deserves a happy ending too. Barbie was standing in the back and out of the way not only in this scene but in most of the ending scenes actually, which is a wonderful portrayal of what all of these things that have happened to Barbie can do to a woman, regardless of how strong or empowered she was or may have seemed. Barbie, the main character of the movie, becoming quiet and contemplative and unsure, and relegating herself to the background because of all of this. Barbie being surprised to see people wanting something good for her. Barbie not knowing what she wants. Barbie absolutely knowing what she wants the whole movie but dancing around it because as a woman you are put in a box and you’re not supposed to say what you want. Even as a barbie. (“I have never wanted anything to change!” “I only ever wanted things to stay the same!” “I don’t know what I want anymore.”) but “It takes two to open a portal.” And so many more sly comments about how Barbie caused all this too. Barbie not even being proud of her accomplishments by the ending when they’re in the void. Ruth only figuring out What Barbie wants because of a comment, a self effacing comment. Barbie asking permission to be herself. She’s been affected negatively by the world, and yet is choosing to live in it anyway. As are the women of the world. Barbie didn’t need permission. But she asked anyway, she probably wouldn’t have done it is Ruth said no. If anyone had protested at all. Because as a woman she is self sacrificing and making sure everyone is ok with things before doing it. Ruth not showing Barbie life as a woman in the end, because Barbie already knows what that’s like. She’s not asking to be a woman, she is a woman, she’s asking to be human, for which life is nuanced and beautiful. As is being a woman, though in very different ways.

Ive seen people get mad or annoyed by the barbie movie being criticized "people say its too feminist others say its not feminist enough, women cant win in reality either, huh really proved the movies point" or smth like that and I just,,, barbie movie is an AD, made by Mattel, the people who sell the barbie dolls, the feminism in the capitalism movie is going to be hollow and incredibly surface level and White, the CEOs are technically the bad guys but theyre fumbling idiots to make the CEOs irl look less fucking evil, the kid whos into left politics is a joke and she learns to love barbie again, just like you should, dont you miss barbie? she gets so sad that you dont like her, buy her, buy our products, please ignore all the human right violations we do in order to make the dolls. no ones saying you cant have enjoyed the movie and that its shouldnt have moved you in any way (i absolutely cried when i saw it, something something the heartbreak of growing or whatever), but its not at all as deep or meaningful as people say that it is, the politics it does touch on is very... careful and thats intentional.

Barbenheimer review
Oppenheimer
Exactly what you expect from Christopher Nolan. I'm not sure what to say that hasn't already been said by every filmbro in existence. 10/10, A+ movie. Although, to be honest, I don't think any of those black and white portions of the movie were necessary (especially the ones that took place after the bomb had been dropped). Like Christopher, you do realize that everyone who came to that theater only cared about Oppenheimer himself, right? And the bomb? I cant even remember the name of who Iron Man played. Like the plot outside of the bomb and Oppenheimer himself was so superfluous and pointless and could've been pretty much wholly excluded, which would've been nice since the movie runs for quite a while. It's worth watching just for the bomb test alone. Even if you don't pay attention to anything else. That scene on its own is cinema incarnate.
Now, I am become Death, destroyer of worlds. - Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, Oppenheimer (2023, directed by Christopher Nolan)
Barbie
This movie is perfect. Genuinely perfect.
It is literally impossible to be a woman. You are so beautiful, and so smart, and it kills me that you don't think you're good enough. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow we're always doing it wrong. ----- But always stand out and always be grateful. But never forget that the system is rigged. So find a way to acknowledge that but also always be grateful. You have to never get old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never fall down, never fail, never show fear, never get out of line. ----- I'm just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself into knots so that people will like us. And if all of that is also true for a doll just representing women, then I don't even know. - America Ferrera as 'Sasha', Barbie (2023, directed by Greta Gerwig)
This movie has something for everyone. Barbie, Ken, and everyone in between. You walk into this movie thinking, "hey, this is a Barbie movie, Mattel obviously made them hold back." No. This is exactly what it needs to be. I legitimately have nothing to complain about. Every part of this movie is so perfectly crafted. The writing, the set design, the fashion, the PINK. GOD. Please see this movie.
I used to float, now I just fall down I used to know, but I'm not sure now What I was made for What was I made for? - Billie Eilish, 'What Was I Made For?', Barbie The Album
#barbenheimer#oppenheimer#barbie#shitpost#Two of the greatest movies of all time.#I genuinely can't wait to see who wins the Oscar.

hey i noticed that you're into doll collecting, do you have like a favorite toy brand or doll line?
hey there!
the short answer is that im really really bad at picking favorites. the longer answer is that there's stuff that i like and dislike about different lines!
most of the dolls i end up getting are either from MGA or mattel, mostly just because theyre the big names so theyre more easily accessible and they've kinda saturated the market, lol.
rainbow/shadow high is what got me back into collecting after the doll market hit a massive lull in 2015-ish, so i guess i'll start there! i really like how rainbow high takes a lot of inspiration from BJDs. this is the first thing i noticed about them, and i thought it was really unique for a playline doll. i've always wanted to collect BJDs, they're just so expensive. so i kind of treated rainbow high as a cheaper alternative. i think theyre so pretty, and i love how they've really started improving since series 3 was released. im not personally all that interested in their fashions for the most part, designer brands just aren't something im really into, but to me the base doll is more important because i can always make or buy new clothes for them. (...not that i've done that yet. adhd moment). i love the face sculpts (from the front) and i love the articulation and i love the shimmer and i love the inset eyes. i do think their faces look oddly squished from the sides, and i wish their torsos were longer, and i really hate how MGA has kept increasing their pricing but delivering either the same or even less amount of product/quality for the dolls. the most recent main line dolls have been $30 each and they don't even come with a second outfit. just some plastic accessories that are the exact same with each doll, just in a different color. i dont need five different doll laptops that all look the same. (also come on MGA, give us textured hair. you've done it in your other lines!!) still, i do think they're very unique and i hope it will make other companies start to branch out too
i honestly didn't really like lol omg at first, but they kind of grew on me once i heard someone say they reminded them of betty boop. i love their fashion and how ever the top it is, and i love how many different outfit pieces they give you. when you see it all laid out youd think that it was way too much and theres no way it would make a coherent outfit, but when you put it all together somehow none of it clashes. theyve got really great diversity as well (including hair texture!), and i love how each doll has it's own concept that they go hard on. overall i just think theyre really camp lol
i have a love-hate relationship with barbie. i really love a lot of their older dolls, especially the movie and princess dolls, but their newer stuff just isnt that great in my opinion. they're really done a good job with the diversity and i definitely dont want that to be taken away, but their quality has definitely declined over the years and i cant really see myself buying most modern barbies. i also kinda hate the current basic sculpt, it just seems so flat and plain to me. some of the collectors dolls are kind of cute, but they're way overpriced. even if you just look at the barbie movie dolls, the basic doll is $25 and all of the alternate outfit dolls are $40 despite not actually being any more detailed or coming with any more stuff than the basic one!
and of course, i love monster high. i do personally prefer gen 1 over gen 3, but i also think that gen 3 gets way more hate than it deserves, and a lot of them are really cute. it does suffer from a lot of the same issues as barbie as far as quality, but each doll at least comes with more pieces. but i love how creative they were able to get with some of the dolls, and i cant wait to see where gen 3 takes us!

So I saw so many ppl on tumblr watch Barbie and I finally watched it too! What can I say, it is a comedy. Also the story is weirdly very similar to The Lego Movie.
But I would say Lego movie went and defined the argument between the son and the father who were kind of like "the gods" for the lego people. Like anything that didn't make sense in the lego world worked bc it was a little boy playing with it. And the bad things started to happen bc father didn't want his son to mess up his collection and he yelled at him and started to glue bricks together. But in Barbie you never learn anything about the mother and the daughter. Why did they fall apart? What caused them to stop spending time together? Why is the teen girl is mean to her mom like she did something bad? But the movie answers it with She Is Just A Teenager thats why. And it doesn't make any sense. Here bad things in the Barbie world started to happen bc the woman was depressed probably bc her daughter is mean to her (I guess so). She keeps one Barbie she likes around and works at the Mattel. She is also thinking of death and cellulite and like okay but it sounds like they barely scraped the top of the problems this woman faces. And I guess it all fixed itself when she started a poly relationship with Barbie who is a real person now? Like okay maybe. But she and her daughter are just decorations, the movie jokes a lot how the Kens are the accessories for Barbies but the human characters men and women alike are also accessories, they have zero depth. Stereotypical Barbie is also really boring just as a character. Id like to see Weird Barbie more or President Barbie or literally any other Barbie bc this one is Just So Beautiful. Like every time she says she has nothing going on she has no interests and no achievements and no hobby no needs no wants somebody says but you are so beautiful! AND SMART. And I just cant help but laugh bc it doesn't matter that she is beautiful!!! She has nothing going on in her life. The woman who played with her is a mother and a secretary who can drive and she draws in her free time and seems very nice overall. She has things going on for her, her job her family her love for Barbies AND her artistic expression! The movie never answers the question What should I do if I dont have anything going on in my life. Like she says to the directors of Mattel what if we have a Barbie who is like nobody? AND THEY ALREADY HAVE THAT. THEY DO SELL BARBIES THAT ARE JUST A GIRL IN A DRESS WITHOUT ANYTHING ELSE. Its literally cheapest Barbies available. I had these!! 20 years ago!!!! Also there were series of Barbies that had flat feet, but the movie just deliberately forgets their existence. It was a beach series btw. Tbh Ken had more depth bc he liked horses. Like he went to the real world and immediately found something he fell in love with. And Barbie was just There. Like okay go girl give us nothing. I love Margot and she is excellent actor and she works really hard to bring this character to life but the character is boring as hell. I like Margot as a Barbie but I do not like the stereotypical Barbies role in this movie. She just finds out that she wants to be a real human! Wow. It doesn't make any sense. It felt more like movie doesn't address the problems Mattel has, it makes fun of them.
So I would say its a really shallow movie for me. Its not as fun as Barbie and the nutcracker and its not for kids. It is a typical American comedy to go with your friends dressed in pink and to have a laugh, popcorn and a good time. I can't help but be really amused by all the fragile men who got offended by this movie. Im sorry but yall have no sense of humour and yall get offended too easily. God forbid yall ever learn how real life women joke among themselves about real life men lmao.
I will probably buy myself Barbie The Movie doll

Barbie and the Diamond Castle REVIEW
DISCLAIMER!!!! I AM ABOUT 20 YEARS OLD, SO I AM OBVIOUSLY NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE.
This was the Barbie movie I have always wanted to see but never got the chance to until today. I was really excited however my expectations were low sense this movie is geared toward young girls.
so what do I think of this film?
CHEESY AND PREDICTABLE
its your basic cliche plot of
THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!!!!!
AGAIN I know this is for young girls but this plot devise is way over used and it still is today and it is sad. Kids deserve fresh things like we do
so here is the basic plot
PLOT ( click the link to read on the plot) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbie_%26_the_Diamond_Castle ( gotta give credit for the plot and all)
yes i was to lazy to write it out, but why do so if i dont have to HAHAHAHA
so this plot is very........ predictable like I knew what was going to happen and all that jazz and it left me very BORED im sure Mattel could of came up with a better plot then this. they have before like “ The Magic of Pegasus” that movie was original and the plot was pretty decent. With Diamond Castle it felt generic and boring.
but to be fair Barbie movie are a marketing ploy to sell toys
Characters
the main characters were ok, but they lacked personality other than the
“ WE DO EVERYTHING TOGETHER YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Alexa and Lidia are boring as hell. and dont get me started on Melody omg...... she wasnt annoying she was just there as a plot devise to get the two girls to the Diamond Castle.
the villian was just so forgettable like I DONT REMBER HER NAME!!
she also felt like a Laverna 2.0 ( Fairytopia)
of course this villian has the usual plot of
“ I WILL RULE THE WORLD BWA HAHAHAHA”
then there were two guys who were dumb as rocks. like Boom knuckles looked like a genius compared two these guys
there was also a “comic relief” dragon. and i use the word comedy loosely
oh and there were two puppies two so yea......
BUY OUR TOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so thats all i got on the characters, ya they are that boring
ANIMATION:
oooooooo now we get to the good stuff OH BOY. no surprise the animation was cheap and choppy. but i could also tell that the animators did try. so it wasn't that horrible. but this movie came out in 2008 when movies like Wall-E, and Kung-Fu Panda came out. To be fair those were high budget films so I cant give them to much crap for that. but Mattel is a company worth billions of dollars and they make millions everyday so i dont why they cant put more budget into their movies.
i guess they rush it out to sell TOOOOOOOOYS
or majority of it goes to making dolls and all that jazz. so that’s probably why
CONCLUSION
its a harmless movie a young girl can watch. but the movie is just so bland and boring that i wanted to turn it off half way through. but I know my 9 year old self would of loved this movie. So if you want to show this to your kids I say go for it they may enjoy it. but as for the adults who still enjoy watching Barbie movies every once in a while this one is not a great. and i am disappoited to say that sense i had been waited years to view this movie.
good day
