It had to end this way. We all know it. Only you were unaware. You had hope. Hope, of course, only makes it hurt all the more. We all knew you would look back, oh love, there's no other version of the story. And yet, alongside you, we still had hope. We believed in you, even though we knew you couldn't win. And you believed in yourself till the last moment. It isn't fair, is it? You didn't know you were doomed.

You were given the chance to live, a thousand times over, and yet you never chose it. Not intentionally, oh no, you didn't know it was a grave you were digging. But with every turn, you were twisting the knife deeper. Every decision doomed you more. Had it been anyone else, they would have made it. But you? You are so perfectly you, there was no escaping it. The true tragedy of it all was how preventable it was.

Name: Katarin

Katarin comes from the 2005 film BloodRayne, which... quite frankly, I wouldn't recommend to anyone haha. It's pretty bad. I am fascinated by it, though, and I do like the idea of Rin's character. When interacting with her, there might be violence, blood, gore, and death. Except for violence, all of these things will be tagged as cw: [subject] when applicable.

Personality: Katarin is tenacious, steadfast, and occasionally arrogant. Her stubbornness and rigid opinions/beliefs are impressively difficult to break, often to the point of being infuriating. She'll make sure to plainly lay out what she thinks as well. Her trust isn't easily earned.

She's not afraid to do whatever it takes, no matter how extreme. She's worked hard to harden all her soft parts, which she perceives as weaknesses that could potentially build up to a greater failure. As a result, she can come across as ruthless, cutting down those in her way with minimal hesitation.

In the end, she's convinced that the choices she makes are the right ones, and that regardless of any death or hurting that occurs in the process, she will help achieve a better tomorrow in the end.

Katarin primarily grew up within the walls of the Brimstone Society's fortress. Brimstone is made up of vampire hunters. Not only do they travel out and kill bloodsuckers, but they also work to oppose a terrible vampire king called Kagan. From a very young age, Katarin was trained to do battle by her father. She was taught to never trust someone after they had turned, regardless of who they used to be. Her father was never a very parental man and that, combined with Katarin's headstrong nature, often caused them to butt heads. She frequently ended up turning to Brimstone's leader, a man named Vladimir, for emotional support growing up. When she was sixteen, her father was bitten. It is expected in Brimstone to kill a comrade quickly after this happens as a common courtesy, but Katarin did not have it in her to end him. As a result, he was exiled from the society. He retained much more of his humanity than most vampires, but a greater strain was placed on their already rocky relationship regardless. By the time she was twenty-three, she had become one of Vladimir's closest confidants and a member he often has accompany him out.

Verses:

This is what it means to serve Brimstone. (BloodRayne) – Takes place in 18th-century Romania. Vampires plague the land and a vampire king named Kagan rules.

I have never met a beast I cannot slay. (Resident Evil: Village) – Since the village is in Romania and the Dimitrescus are kinda vampires, I figure it could be fun if Katarin's travels led her there. It would also be fun to put her against the monsters in the village.

What form of sorcery is this? (Crossovers) – A generic verse for crossovers.

Other:

In BloodRayne, she dies upon having her neck snapped and blood drank by the lead character, Rayne. However, it follows a betrayal that I hate the buildup to, so I'll largely be ignoring it <3 But you might still hear Katarin complain about the dhampir.

While trained to handle a multitude of weapons, Katarin is most skilled with swords, followed closely by a bow and arrow.

She has not seen her father since his exile. However, the two of them do occasionally exchange letters. Being unable to kill him is what Katarin considers her greatest moment of weakness.

Her father is the only biological family she has ever known personally, but she does also consider Vladimir a parental figure of sorts.

Vladimir's other closest confidant, a man named Sebastian, is a bit of an older brother to Katarin.

She has a fleabitten grey horse named Bela.

Katarin has an affinity for jewelry (bracelets and rings more specifically). Since her Dad is loaded, she has some pretty nice stuff from him, which she'll still wear despite the strained relationship they now have.

And if she sees a particularly pretty ring or bracelet on a person she just killed, she's not above stealing it from their corpse
